The Breakfast Republic Boom Continues in Mission Valley and Irvine - Eater San Diego

"A Breakfast Republic for every neighborhood might not be such a far off prospect. Multiplying at an astonishingly quick pace since first launching in 2015, there are now seven locations and counting. The most recent outpost launched last month in Pacific Beach while the next is due in Carlsbad this summer. Next up for the independently-owned morning eats brand is Mission Valley. Scheduled to open this fall, Breakfast Republic will replace the Panda Express in the Park Valley Center complex across from Westfield Mission Valley. 2018 will also mark Rise & Shine Restaurant Group’s first out-of-town opening. The tenth Breakfast Republic is heading to Irvine, where it will launch in late fall near the UC Irvine campus at 4213 Campus Drive." - Candice Woo

Breakfast was great! The yogurt bowl was delicious, especially the toasted banana. The cinnamon roll pancakes were good but very very sweet. Next time will ask for them without the nuts as garnish as they were unusually hard. Service was great and loved how big the inside seating area is.

Nothing else matters but the French toast! Everything else was good. Great delicious. Call it what you want but the French toast was the highlight of my day! Believe me I’m a food credit and this was simply amazing! Good thing there’s a location in Palm Desert closer to where I live so I’ll be visiting that location as well and I hope the French toast is up to par cause I’m gonna be brutally honest with them. Please believe me and find out for yourself. Oh, I ordered the mac & cheese, bacon eggs skillet, and that was a good nine out of 10.

Google
Food was amazing and is consistent. Just moved to the area and have been back for breakfast a few times. Highly recommend the French toast. The staff is incredible and the food is worth it!

Google
Omg Breakfast Republic is where it’s at. Welcoming and funky atmosphere, great service, and the best - incredible food!! Huge menu, great drink options, and healthy portions. You won’t leave hungry. PS - make sure to hit the restrooms - they’re hilarious.

Google
We were looking for a brunch spot near the beach to spend the morning with our son visiting from Japan. This was early what we were looking for. It’s not on the beach but a block away. Our server was Wu and he was amazing. The food was tasty. We had the breakfast jambalaya, Oreo pancakes and mac n cheese.

Google
Celiac friendly! Gluten free pancakes, French toast and other great food choices. Fresh squeezed juices and excellent coffee. Honey is available. One of the best breakfast places in America! The ambiance was so much fun and inviting. Service was slow to start but then once ordere, the amazing food came out quickly. This is a must!!

Google
The best breakfast one could have is served here. The staff are courteous and attentive, ensuring customers are well taken care of. The food is delicious, with generous portions that make it easy to relax and enjoy your time.

Google
A+++!!! Everything was so good! The Cafe De Olla coffee was amazing! The aroma of cinnamon was great. We had the strawberry cheesecake pancakes and they were out of this world. Bloody Mary was five stars. Literally nothing was even slightly sub par. I wish I could eat here every week.

Yelp
Great food, even better service. The San Diego Benedict melts in your mouth and the Banana Split French toast capped it all off.

Yelp
First time back to Breakfast Republic in 3 years and it did NOT disappoint! There was a small wait but we were quickly seated upstairs at the window. Kind of a weird layout to be looking outside over the busy road, but it was fine. I ordered a hot latte and the shrimp ricotta frittata with upgraded potatoes, which my dad built his own omelet. Their upgraded potatoes have brussels, bacon, and cheese, and they were delicious. It didn't feel greasy or heavy either. As for the frittata, I knew it'd be way too much food for me and it was. I ate only half, but it was very good! The shrimp were big and the ricotta was delicious. It wasn't too hot when I received it, but that's nitpicking because it seriously was a great meal. My dad's omelet was huge and he liked how packed it was. The presentation of the frittata was my favorite - really cool on the cutting board. The mugs they give us to use are adorable, too. Great menu, consistently great food, and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Such an amazing breakfast place! We love breakfast and the menu here is packed with so Many options of great dishes- it was hard to choose!!! We went with a Benedict and the jambalaya and were happy with our choices! The potatoes are so good and not greasy! The jambalaya came with so Many shrimp - my partner even shared haha! The service was fast, friendly, informative and just great! Our server, Ray I think, was awesome and even got us coffees to go (no extra charge)l.) plus the Togo cups are hilarious and fun! If you're in San Diego you need to check out one of their locations!

Yelp
I recently came back to Breakfast Republic after 5 years away. Is it possible that the food got even better? The interior is rustic and charming as always and the staff just as attentive as I remember. They worked with us to accommodate a large stroller and helped several other tables store their bags before they were heading to the airport. Anyway - the Breakfast Burrito is amazing - I had it with the Jurassic Pork and it may be the best breakfast item I've ever tasted - certainly top 3 all-time. My toddler had the maple sage sausage which was also amazing, and my wife enjoyed her Breakfast Sandwich though she will admit that I ordered better. My one regret is we didn't get more Jurassic Pork before we left. Be warned - their Bloody Mary is both boozy and perfectly spicy. It's not to be missed. They do have a full coffee menu, complete with lattes and cappuccinos. I ordered the Cafe de Olla, which is a house blended roast with cinnamon and piloncillo that is both tasty and an exceptional value ($4.50 for bottomless).

Yelp
Great brunch spot in pacific beach. The food was good. The steak and egg was smaller than I thought. Had a lot of flavor. But it was over priced. The ube latte was ok. They had to redo my daughter's drink. But it still wasn't right.

Yelp
To start, I didn't like the parking situation. Even though it's right next to the restaurant you have to pay for parking, which I don't think was even cheap. That's really the only thing I didn't like. The restaurant itself did not disappoint. There was a small line on a Saturday morning but my husband and I were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, can't speak for the ambiance too much because we chose to sit outside but overall it seemed nice. The food was very fresh, even down to the jelly for the toast which tasted like they made it right then and there. Their coffee was sooo good! I had the shrimp and ricotta frittata which was good but it did lack just a little more seasoning. My husband did enjoy his shrimp and grits. Although we enjoyed it, I don't think I'd pay for parking just to eat here again.

Yelp
The food was great had the banana split French toast it was awesome. The service was amazing everyone seemed very happy and they were very nice. The prices were also very reasonable.

Yelp
I am so glad we stumbled upon this awesome breakfast place on christmas day!! They are walking distance from pacific beach and right next to a cvs pharmacy. Lots of street parking (free) nearby. We walked in and were promptly greeted by a person who helped put our name down on the wait list. For a party of four, it took them 10-15 mins only which was great. They dont do reservations so just walk in. Our server was very attentive and explained all specials and answered all our questions in much detail. Everything was perfect for us. Clean restrooms too !! In $66 (before tip), we got: - mango mimosa (2 qty) 5/5- yummy spicy coated champagne flutes with sweet mango and prosecco made for a perfect holiday drink for brunch - hot chocolate - 5/5 - not crazy sweet and topped with ahipped cream, mini marshmellows and chocolate sauce :) oh so good! Perfect for the winter vibes - tres leches pancakes - 4/5- a little sweet as expected and loaded with pistachios and strawberry (stack of 3) - lemon coconut pancakes - 5/5- roasted coconut sprinkled on a stack of 3 lemon pancakes. Not too sweet - veggie scramble 5/5- 3 eggs with veggie, side of house potatoes (yummy 5/5) and toast (u have a choice of sourdough, wheat, multigrain, etc) we chose wheat, side of butter and jam - side of extra strawberries Definitely coming back to try more on their vast menu -

Yelp
Sitting on the patio and watching people walk to and from the beach while you drink your latte and enjoying the Jurassic Pork is a meal well spent. The servers were knowledgeable and helped with all the difficult decisions, such as what pancakes to order in the pancake flight, or mimosa vs latte. The answer to the pancake flight is churro, lemon coconut, and strawberry cheesecake in case you wondered.

Yelp
I stopped by Breakfast Republic and it was really nice time. My guy Wu made the experience flawless! Exceptional time and politeness. I got some omelettes and the serving size was very good. Definitely coming back

Yelp
Whenever my boyfriend has family in town, Breakfast Republic is always our first choice due to the large selection and vegan options. Since there are numerous vegan options, a rarity when it comes to breakfast, I like trying something new each time we dine here. I noticed a sign on the wall advertising a new menu item, Vegan Tres Leches Pancake and had to get them! While my food looked absolutely incredible, my number one fear came to life when a found a hair between my pancakes. Though not at fault, Daniel V. was very apologetic and made sure to get a fresh order out to me as quickly as possible. This location is almost always busy, so I was impressed with the level of consideration Daniel displayed. The service is the sole reason for my rating. In fact, it saved the entire experience!

Yelp
Just landed in San Diego on the way to Legoland! looked up a spot to grab breakfast on the way and just decided to check out Breakfast Republic. Seems like all the parking lots in this area charge by the hour. Look for street parking if you can! We beat the Brunch rush and only waited about 10 mins for our table. Love the look and feel of the restaurant, very modern and homey. I really liked that all their cutlery, mugs, plates had their logo. Might just be a me thing, but little details make an experience different for me. Lol. I especially liked the puns they had on their napkins. Cute and funny, the kids liked them. I got the fruit bowl and a mimosa! Probably the best mix of fruit I've had at a breakfast spot: strawberries, nectarine, pineapple, blood orange our table ordered pancakes, hot chocolate, churro pancakes, tostadas, big breakfast, maple sage sausage. everything was really good and fairly priced. They have a big menu with a lot of different options. So something for everyone. But also liked that they had some unique dishes for something different especially for tourists! like the churro pancakes. They were so gooooood. It was a busy morning but our server was very attentive and came by multiple times to check on all his tables. Always appreciate great customer service. I highly recommend this spot for breakfast when you're visiting!

Yelp
With how good everything was here I was very surprised to find out they are a chain restaurant. They are not open all day so time your visit according to the hours. We showed up around 230pm, they close at 3pm. I try not to go to restaurants within the last hour, but this was on our to do list and we had to cross it off. Despite walking in pretty close to closing time they greeted us with open arms. The service was great, waitress was courteous and informative and considerate of all our menu questions. The location is quaint and comfortable, diner style, nothing fancy. Very close one block walking distance to the water and boardwalk. DRINKS Water here tasted nice and clean, if your a water snob like me, def didn't taste like tap. Really clean and spotless mason jars for glasses! So cool that they had Adaptogenic shots here, I tasted mostly cherry but can't find it on the menu online to recall what it was supposed to be... my son tasted the spice from the cayenne in the shot. The Ube Latte is why I came here, they use a premix that was flavorful, delicious and a stunning color. For those who know Ube, and how soft and mild that taste can be, this was very intense in Ube flavor and worth it. The Iced Oreo latte was also fantastic. FOOD Ketchup and hot sauce here are vegan. Breakfast burger was suggested by our waitress. Def for the meat/protein lovers out there with a sliced in half sausage link, burger Patty, cheese, crunchy cooked onions , choice of egg (son chose scrambled) on a bun. This was a large sandwich that my son had to pull apart to get through by removing the sausage and eating it in its own (and he is a big eater). The side of breakfast potatoes were cubed and tasted great, cooked and seasoned just right. I got the Avocado toast which had bread that was toasted and too thick and hard to easily cut and bite through, balsamic on it wasn't strong as I prefer, the strawberries on top were fresh, and it had pomegranate seeds and basil micro greens(fantastic) that made the item have so much potential... the flavors were def there and great but the bread choice was not my preference and didn't make it as enjoyable as it could've been because of how hard it was to eat. Overall a great experience and I will come back when in town to try other menu items and for that Ube latte which was the highlight of my breakfast.

Yelp
Definitely coming back! We were seated after about a 10 min wait, which on a Saturday around brunch time is pretty short. Once the food arrived, the table was silent because we were all too busy chowing down. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because we ordered 2 additional side items which didn't come until the end of the meal, which by that point we were already full and didn't eat it. Besides that, I'd definitely recommend this really fun, cute and delicious restaurant!
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
I love breakfast republic! They have a very creative menu and puns all around the restaurant. It does get packed, but it understandable cause the food is amazing! I got the Jurassic pork Benedict, and i am craving that bacon! Has a hint of maple and sweetness which is really tasty. Also the house latte is delicious, sounds like a lot of flavors in there, but it sure is tasty. Because of how packed the restaurant is, it does get a little noisy, but nothing that took away from my visit. Yum!

Yelp
We tried this place on a whim, after looking for a place to eat in the pacific beach area. To drink, I had a chai latte with oatmilk which tasted great! I couldn't decide between lemon coconut pancakes and the Turkey meatloaf hash, so the waitress let me know that I could update the bread choice on my order for $4 more and have the pancakes with it. The meatloaf hash had a flavorful pesto sauce and plenty of meat and potatoes underneath the 3 eggs. It came out in a small silver pan but it was a LOT of food. I should have just chosen one or the other. The lemon coconut pancakes had a lemon glaze on it that was good, but much too sweet to have with maple syrup too. I couldn't tell if the lemon flavor was from the sauce alone, or somehow infused into the pancake itself, but I'd recommend getting the lemon sauce on the side to distribute it for yourself. It was not a huge place, but busy as expected during the time that we went. Not too loud, a typical amount of tables and chatty people but you can hear yourself talk just fine. The menu has a lot of cool options. If I'm ever in SD again I would come back here for sure.

Yelp
This place is very close to the Mission Beach. I was there during the week day morning, and it wasn't busy, and I was greeted nicely. Service was very good. Food was OK, I liked it but nothing spectacular. Overall not bad experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast Republic, with locations across San Diego, is truly one of the best breakfast spots in town. We started off with a pancake flight composed of Oreo, Churro and Pineapple Upside Down, each one impressing us just as much as the last. For our primary dishes we ordered a collection of omelets and scrambles all of which were generous portions and delicious. We will definitely be back to this staple
google avatar

Yelp
I sadly received my doordash with regular potatoes instead of the Brussel sprout upgrade. I was so deflated, until I took a bite of my veggie scramble .... And all was forgiven. The squash and sweet potatoes and other veggies tasted like you picked them yesterday. Out of this world. I order from you guys all the time and you have never made a mistake before- bad news- you're humans and sometimes make a mistake. Ty all for amazing dishes each and every time...... (And i rarely review, not my thing-but they deserve it)
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Good service! Quickly helped even though they were just. Food is a bit different than what we normally eat, but the Oreo pancakes weee awesome! Some suggestive words and phrases throughout the menu and decor that may be a bit too much for kids that can read but are young still.
google avatar

Hedda D.

Yelp
Awesome service!!! I had the bacon pancakes and they were the most interesting I've ever seen. Super good. Also the seasonal fruit was great: pomegranate, tangerine, kiwi, apples, strawberries. The vibe is casual, rustic, and very tongue in cheek. Also their coffee is fantastic i definitely recommend you try anything they have. Also... go into the restroom while you're there. Trust me.

Yelp
Finally got around to trying this place over the weekend! We came around 11am on a Sunday for brunch and we're seated immediately - yay to no long wait lines I ordered the chicken fennel sausage omelette and really liked it. It had great flavor and I felt it was a good value for the price. My boyfriend got the turkey meatloaf hash and liked it but thought it was lacking a little flavor. The restaurant is really cute and they have plenty of indoor + outdoor seating as well.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Fast seating & service. Great aesthetic with some of the best vibes I have ever encountered. One of the people in my party had both gluten and dairy allergies that the staff/kitchen were more than happy to accommodate. Absolutely worth the stop if you're hankering for some delicious grub or in need of a quick little hangover cure.
google avatar

Alkiviadis Z.

Yelp
As part of "Bill's SD Experience Tour" that I am currently on I found myself at Breakfast Republic". The food was great, with the pancakes being a revelation. Service was also really good and attentive although the food took a bit more time, because they were quite busy. The ambience is a cool trendy vibe where you will see both tourists and the local PB crowd. One thing that is getting very popular in CA these days is the 4% surcharge for fair pay and etc for employees. I am not against the concept and would much prefer for them to bake it into their pricing and be upfront for it. What most places do these days is that the server will show you the bill with the surcharge on the POS tablet, to make sure you "saw" it which feels a bit manipulative since you are not looking for it. Especially given that the tip still starts at 18% and you are expected to select the options provided to keep things moving. I do not blame the staff though, but the corporate machine behind it.
google avatar

Raymond A.

Yelp
Probably the best steak n eggs in PB. Its busy busy but got a seat quick. I'll have to stop by again and try the other items. This place is wayyyy better than the OB spot.
google avatar

Isa J.

Yelp
The wait time was only 10min on a Friday at noon! The coffee was really good (we got a capuccino, a latte and a caramel latte which was amazing). The food was okay, not the best I've ever had but the plates were big and we had lots of left overs. I think the food in general was missing some salt and some more flavor. I had to add salt and pepper to literally everything. The pancakes were by far the best. You can order a trio and choose three pancakes of your choice. For everyone who has a sweet tooth I highly recommend that or the french toast trio! The whole theme of the restaurant is funny and it's a great vibe. It is also a great location near the beach and garnett.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was so good! The food was alot more unique and diverse in comparison to most breakfast joints. The shrimp and grits was amazing and I really enjoyed the baklava pancakes. The staff was SUPER nice and really good at checking up on our table! Definitely will be coming back soon.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Great breakfast. We had shrimp and ricottas frittata, breakfast burrito, pancakes and traditional eggs Benny. Healthy portions for all. Waitress was awesome, sweet, helpful and attentive.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
Super cute place and very fast. Greeted and Sat immediately. Got our order in and 5 minutes later we had our food. Highly recommend the chicken fennel omelet and the buttermilk pancake was delicious. Our server was sweet as pie and there's a guy running around yelling good morning. You have to love this place and the atmosphere!
google avatar

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Food was delish! Hubby for a veggie omelet that was yummy, I got the SD Benny. So much goodness. Make sure to get a bottle of there house bubbles with fresh OJ, very refreshing. Service was efficient, kind, helpful. Vibes were on point great for a chill beach plus good eats environment.

Yelp
I think the food, drinks, and service is great but the overall cleanliness can use some work... I ordered the pesto Benedict with chicken sausage and wow the flavor combination was delicious the bell pepper balanced the basil in the pesto and that pairing is not one I've seen anywhere else. They also give you tons of potatoes on the side with a spicy ketchup offered. It's a good portion of food for the price! Any breakfast can never be complete without a coffee-- cafe de olla was lovely to sip on (: As far as the general cleanliness: there were so many flys all over the place landing on tables (although something not so easy to control precautious can be made), the bottles on the table looked wiped but you could see and feel ketchup on the lid between the ridges ( I had to use my napkin to open it because my hand got dirty with old ketchup .. gross), and the bathroom.... By far one of the worse ventilated (not actually ventilated at all) bathrooms I've ever walked into. Stinky heavy air you can almost smell it with your lungs. If I went to the bathroom before I ate it would've killed my appetite.. Overall I enjoy the food and service of this place and I would love to come back but if I went back and saw an underlying level of filth I'd imagine what the kitchen looks like if this is how my dining table is represented

Joanna F.

Yelp
Great sandwich, even after traveling in a box for 30 minutes. Where's the 1000 island at tho???

Yelp
I was close to saying skip this place on our list as it was our last day and we were already getting a late start, but i'm so glad we didn't pass this up. Parking on at brunch on a Tuesday wasn't so bad, but the parking lot is a bit small and tight so be careful when parking in their lot. What's also nice is they Validate parking for 2 hours which is plenty of time to eat their beautiful creations. Once in you'll be escorted to your seat and the vibe of the entire place will have you in awe from how much decor and detail there is to this place. Don't forget to tell your server your license plate to validate parking. The menu is compacted but has ALOT to choose from, it might be a little overwhelming but it's not that bad. I had ordered the Breakfast Burger and my girlfriend had ordered the Pancake Flights. Once these plates hit our table we were both in amazement that these were HUGE plates. Not only are they huge but they're custom Breakfast Republic plates. I loved my breakfast burger the second I got it, the egg yolk was perfect for a pop and made for a great video. The flavor was immaculate with every bite and it didn't feel too greasy surprisingly. As for the Pancake flight you get a lovely powder sugared trio of Pineapple, Lemon and Strawberry and honestly in my opinion the Pineapple and Strawberry took the cake for me. So excited to come back when I'm in SD again and will get the Breakfast Mac and Cheese

Yelp
This place is always busy and rightfully so, it's quick and tasty. We went in on a weekend morning as a party of two and were seated right away. We were seated upstairs facing the street so it was great to people watch while waiting on our food. The cold brew was really good but super strong. The frittata was balanced and flavorful. All the elements really elevated the dish and kept me wanting more. There's designated restaurant parking in the lot next door. You just tell the host your license plate number your car will have free parking for 90 minutes. This is really nice because parking in PB is difficult on the weekends. Don't park at CVS.

Alicia M.

Yelp
We were in San Diego for 5 days and only at breakfast here after our second morning. The menu had a lot of options and everything we tried was delicious. The servers were very nice and helpful with the menu. Service was speedy. The restaurant was decorated in a fun way that made it easy to want to stick around for drinks after eating.

Yelp
Popular breakfast/brunch spot in PB. Decided to give Breakfast Republic a visit on New Years Day! Just beat the rush because they were able to seat us right away. Menu is LARGE with an assortment of benedicts, omelets, scrambles, pancakes & French toasts. They even have pancake & French toast flights! ORDERED Vanilla Latte 3/5 Protein Pancakes 4/5 Oreo Cookie Pancakes 5/5 AMAZING Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar Sausage Omelet 3.5/5 Brussels Sprout Potatoes 4/5 Standout item was the Oreo Cookie Pancakes! Definitely give those a try. I would come back to try other items on their menu. The Ube Latte caught my eye and maybe a pancake flight.

Lenny V.

Yelp
The California burrito was delicious 10/10. The brussel sprouts were on par with being as good as some other places we've tried. Slight char with a super slight hint of balsamic. Wish there was more 8.75/10. I don't know how they made pancakes Next Level but they managed to elevate them! Slight crisp on the outside while still being light and fluffy. We had both regular and churro. Both 10/10. The Portuguese scramble was very tasty 8/10. The spicy Bloody Mary was 9/10. The hot chocolate 9/10. Jaime was our server, she was great! The host was also incredible! He did EVERYTHING from seat us, to wipe tables, to bring beverages. Literally a top notch employee! But the entire crew was like a master organized scramble because they were all taking care of every customer in the blink of an eye Café. I accidentally knocked over my drink and before it could even spread and hit the ground, someone was there to help me clean it up. I was truly IMPRESSED

Yelp
Service and food was excellent! Michelle took great care of us. We had the Oreo Pancakes and Breakfast Burrito. One of my favorite spots in PB.
google avatar

Cristina C.

Yelp
The service was great. Our waiter indulged us with good service and advice about food. I couldn't decide between salty or sweet and he let me know for a small upcharge, you can sub potatoes or toast with pancakes or French toast. HELLO! Yes please and thank you! parking can be challenging, but it is a short walk from the beach. Delicious!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Really cool breakfast/brunch place with a fun vibe and good food! Very reasonably priced as well, especially for the area. Good portions and a wide variety on the menu with some really great unique options that I haven't seen on other brunch menus. From sweet to savory breakfasts, there's something for everyone here! They even have a good variety of coffees and cocktails. I came here with a group of 8 on a Friday at 11:30am with no reservations and we were seated after just a few mins of waiting. Our server was super nice and attentive. There's chicken/egg-themed decorations everywhere, down to the last detail like the egg salt & pepper shakers - it's super fun. Highly recommend for groups large or small.

Yelp
Breakfast Republic is hands down my FAVORITE brunch spot in San Diego. I always make it my go to spot when I'm visiting. Every location has great service, great food and is always a great time. The portions are huge and delicious. Their coffee drinks are fantastic. They also have an extensive list of breakfast cocktails which do not disappoint. They offer some vegan options which is a great alternative. My favorite dishes include the pancake flight, breakfast tostadas and the Mac n Cheese. The Breakfast Republic Latte is a mix of vanilla, chai and mocha which I highly suggest.
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
Breakfast Republic is always a solid choice. While there may be more adventurous/trendy brunch options around town, you really can't go wrong with this place. Just be prepared for a wait during peak times, as it can get quite busy. Personally, I love trying their seasonal pancake offerings, but I've also enjoyed their Benedict dishes on occasion. And no visit is complete without sipping on a cup of their delicious cafe de olla. Overall, I've had consistently great experiences at all of their locations. So if you're looking for a solid breakfast or brunch spot that won't disappoint, Breakfast Republic is definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Yesssssss a place with shrimp and grits on the menu! My fave!! We came for a late brunch, and my shrimp and grits were great. I about licked the plate clean! Cones with three eggs, too, but I don't care for eggs, so I shared them with my friends instead. One friend got chilaquiles and they looked bomb, too. Another friend got like a regular breakfast dish, and her potatoes were crispy (just how I like them! But not how she likes them lol... They also had a lot of rosemary flavor...) Good place! Surprised kind of that it closes at 3 though. When I was in college, this place was a sports bar that was open just as late as all the other bars in PB. So they must be doing pretty well as a breakfast joint to close in the afternoon!

Yelp
This chain is a brunch staple and it's consistently reliable. The average rating is for what I ordered, not my overall feeling of this brunch spot. Otherwise I'm usually a big fan of Breakfast Republic! TLDR: come here, but don't order the lemon pancakes. (Their Benedicts, Scrambles and French Toast are ) For this morning, I gave the lemon coconut pancake a try. The lemon flavor wasn't as strong as I was expecting and it needed some syrup to make the dish flavorful. Giving the dish a 6/10, and personally wouldn't order again since they have much more satisfying dishes on their menu that I've devoured before. Pacific beach parking in general is not the best. You can pay for the lot right next to it or try your luck to snag some free street parking.

Yelp
Walking into Breakfast Republic we were greeted with a warm welcome. The server was very polite and make sure we were comfortable. The vibe of the place is very cool and chill, although when in the restroom there was no rack to hang my bag on so I had to put it on the floor unfortunately. The ube latte was rich in flavor, me personally I could've had more ube but the espresso was strong. The French toast was the prime of the meel, freshly tasting strawberries with a not too sweet cream along with it. With that being said the protein bowl was lacking flavor. The cauliflower rice was bland with the meet being a little too over cooked. Overall everything besides the protein bowl was good. Can't wait to come again!!

Yelp
Get the Ube latte! I want to go back just for that alone! Super flavorful and just the right amount of sweetness. I had the chilaquiles and the side of Brussel sprouts hash browns. Chilaquiles was delicious but the side was not crispy enough for me.

Yelp
We got here on a random Wednesday morning and there was still about a 15-20 minute wait to be seated. But it was definitely worth it. The food was amazing. I can't recommend the mash potato omelette enough. Plus they load you up on the homefries which is always appreciated. The mimosas were priced good. My friend got the Bloody Mary and he said it was really tasty as well. The staff was super friendly and the service was very quick despite being so busy. It was legit the perfect spot to get breakfast, and the service was outstanding overall. Ambiance was really nice as well. Everything was well-lit. It was a bit windy so the windows were closed which was perfectly fine with us. We can't wait to come back here again.

Yelp
The Ube latte was my favorite! All of the food was tasty but the pancake flight was genius!

Yelp
Food was good. A lot of options for everyone. The coffee was amazing and food tasted great. I always get a few options when I come so I can try abit of everything. Never disappointed here.

Yelp
I recommended Breakfast Republic to friends visiting PB and unfortunately they had a bad experience. They said the food was at best mediocre and the service was slow and disinterested. I was disappointed to hear that.
