"Breck’s is that catch-all spot every neighborhood needs. Morning cappuccino? Breck's. Quick grilled cheese at noon on a Thursday? Breck's. A crisp glass of Chablis and light bites with a girlfriend? Breck's. The interior is cute and casual with Parisian-style round tables, open shelves so you can check out the bottle stash, and huge windows for that bright Inner Richmond light pour in. "

Breck’s Wine Bar and Bottle Shop Opens in the Inner Richmond - Eater SF

"Breck’s, a stylish new wine bar and market, is now beckoning drinkers to the corner of Arguello and Clement. Owner Will Eagle is opening the shop little by little as he hires staff and assumes regular hours. For now, he’s pouring wine on the weekends and offering coffee and espresso from Verve in the mornings. A small food menu is in the works going forward. And tonight, he’ll greet the neighborhood more formally, hosting the Clement Street Merchants Association. Breck’s, designed by ROY, features handsome shelves for Eagle’s collection of bottles and a central marble counter. Inside are several tables for lounging beneath elegant light fixtures, and outside, there’s more seating below an awning that broadcasts Eagle’s wine philosophy: 'Drink what you like, and like what you drink,' a quote from Robert Mondavi that he’s taken to heart." - Caleb Pershan

We came here to grab coffee to go with pastries from Arsicault, which I suspect is the case for almost all of their morning business. Nearly everybody on the outdoor patio had white bags with coffee, and there are no other coffee shops or bakeries nearby... Logic dictates it's a mutually beneficial pairing. The coffee was fine, but there was a blasé attitude about it. Almost like our business was annoying. And there's a sign on the trash that states explicitly "no Arsicault bags". Look, I, and many others I suspect, wouldn't have bought $25 worth of coffee if not for your lucky location. Why not lean into it a little bit? Maybe it really is that bad and it's not a partnership that will ever work. But as a customer, it seems like such an obvious misstep. We love coffee with croissants. You are next to the best croissants in town and you serve coffee. Help us, and don't make us feel bad about that.

Google
Grabbed a croissant from Arsicult and came here for coffee. They said it’d take 10 minutes, which was fine, not to mention the place felt pretty dirty. Paid $13 for two coffees, ordered a hot Americano, and got a cold, watery one instead. Maybe some people love this place, but I wouldn’t get coffee here again—it totally ruined my croissant moment

Google
visiting SF and after picking up croissants at the Ariscault bakery, we spotted other people with food and bags from the bakery sitting in an outside seating area. We didn’t realize it was specific to Breck’s and sat down. Later on a very rude waiter came by asked us if we were dining at Breck’s, we said no, quickly realized our mistake and apologized. He very rudely shooed us from the table and said he has customers waiting. I tried to apologize, and explain that there were others that were seated that were from the bakery, so we thought we could sit there. He scoffed and told us that it didn’t make it morally right, and continued to motion for us to get up with a downright nasty attitude. A simple, polite explanation would have sufficed, and we would have gladly moved. Don’t know this place but I would never want to come back or try it out. A polite attitude and nice service can take you very far and clearly this place doesn’t have it. 👎🏼

Google
This delightful shop stands next to the Arsicault Bakery, and so it was a natural and easy choice to take our croissants from next door and order breakfast here. A breakfast sandwich, and avocado toast, and a cappuccino, and a glass of strawberry lemonade. The seating outside was full in the sun, but the heat was mitigated by a cool San Francisco breeze. The avocado toast was a tiny bit disappointing; it could have used more lime or other spices. The breakfast sandwich was very good. The strawberry lemonade was GREAT! One of the best I’ve had. I think it was so good because it was half strawberry and half lemonade-drinks of this sort are usually most lemonade with just a little of the other flavoring. The strawberry in this case was quite present, and that made the drink quite good, quite special.

Google
I haven't had any complaints about Breck's. Both the coffee and the food are delicious. Would do it again. Arsicault is next door on Arguello so take advantage of that.

Google
They take their coffee and wine very seriously. Brecks has an excellent selection of both. Nice vibe inside and lots of outside seating to enjoy the neighborhood and good weather. Lots of folks working on their laptops, sure beats a cubicle!

Google
It's possibly one of the best places to drink a coffee ☕️ in San Francisco. The staff is extremely friendly, the coffee varieties are unbelievably good, and it is really cool to sit inside or outside. It is definitely a place I would recommend 👌🏼

Danice M

Google
Today I visited for the first time. Love their coffee and breakfast sandwich. When I asked one of the staff a question, I was shocked at the look and the way she answered. Other than that everything was good, very good variety of food and coffee. Thank you!

Yelp
Excellent service and great atmosphere. Also right next door to the best French pastries in the City ARISCAULT. Been trying to call and get a hold of the owner. If he could call me that would be great. 415 680-6328

Yelp
A buddy was dogsitting nearby and we wanted to catch up. But where to with Echo the dog? And, no, we were not going to pull the fake service animal bit. Breck's was the perfect place. It was comfortable and cozy. A little malbec for her, a petit sirah for me, and a beautiful charcuterie board made by Orlando between the two of us (although the meats and olives were all mine). Even the other guests were delightful (Echo totally fell for Jerry). We enjoyed it all so much, we popped in a few nights later for a quick visit. This time we both had the delicious petit syrah and a smaller charcuterie board. And we are now hooked on the Prairie Breeze cheese that was on both boards.

Yelp
Wednesday, 10:00 am: Glad I returned. Here to try the Avocado Toast. Unlike my first visit, the levain toast existed & be-still my heart, the bread was actually toasted! First layer generous avocado mash on super large slice, followed be a medley of greens, cucumber and radish. I asked for the fried egg to be prepared medium well. It appeared cooked to my high maintenance wishes. Added side of bacon, perfectly prepared, just right amount of chewy goodness. To my surprise, there was an abundance of seating in the back room. About 8 stools with back support. The side cafe tables were much higher than the stools making for an ergonomic fail. Clearly these tables were meant for European coffee drinkers who don't sit down or linger. Whatever, I was happy to enjoy my breakfast with the NY Times at leisure. Props to the woman on laptop who actually left when she finished her food. The guy behind me asked if he was talking too loud! I have found my happy place. No regrets.

Yelp
Tell my why my group had to wait an hour for 3 iced drinks and then they ran out of ice.... Unbelievable. Saving grace was that my h Breakfast sandwich was good.

Yelp
I stopped by Breck's after grabbing some croissants nextdoor. I came across this spot by accident but was pleasantly surprised at how yummy our drinks were! We ordered a iced oat milk vanilla latte and an iced oat milk vanilla matcha and they were flawless! They were both super refreshing and tasteful. Seating was extremely limited as we visited during the farmers market so it was very busy. They do have plenty of outdoor seating and indoor as well (just went on a busy day). They have a great menu with food to try as well. The line and waiting customers were taking up most of the shop, so it was definitely a take-out vibe that day. The staff, even with the pressure of capacity, were very friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Erich L.

Yelp
I found this place going to the farmers market and bakery nearby to get coffee. Good coffee menu, service and a nice place to sit down and have a drink or meal. They have a large wine shop too.w

Yelp
The food was very decent! I ordered a Cubano and was delighted by the crispy bread and house sauce. Fun fact, cuban sandwiches have varying meat selections and pickles depending on the region of Cuba they originate from. The Cubano came with pickles on the side. These pickles are homemade and very lightweight. I didn't enjoy them as much because I felt like they needed to be pickled for longer or have a more complex and robust flavor. The staff was very helpful. I walked in thinking this was Arsicault and asked for kouign-amann, and they directed me next door. I ordered a chai here, and can confirm they use a premix beverage and add milk to it. It was the right mixture of sweet and spicy, but the spice was a little on the stronger side. The outdoor seating is beautiful on a sunny day, and very dog friendly.

Yelp
Stopped by Breck's after grabbing some croissants from Arsicault and was pleasantly surprised! We got the chagaccino (mushroom coffee?) and it was very good! The cinnamon vanilla flavor was very pleasant and not overly sweet. I'd give it a 7.5/10 There's some seating inside and outside, I'd say it gives cozy casual vibes. There was a small line but they got our drinks out in less than 5minutes, which was great! I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area

Yelp
This place is cute inside and has a bar which is cool. I got a latte and it was good.

Yelp
Breck's is located right next to Arsicault Bakery. My mom and I ordered a mocha latte, chai tea latte, and lox bagel. We decided to visit Breck's after ordering some pastries at Arsicault Bakery. My mom said the mocha latte was good. I had the chai tea latte. I wish it had more of the chai flavor, but overall it was good. It had a more milky taste to it. The lox bagel came promptly. It was toasted, had lots of cream cheese, and fresh lox. I wish it came with some capers, but we still enjoyed it. There isn't many tables inside Breck's. They also have some outdoor seating as well.

Yelp
Can't believe we haven't tried this place until now! We pass by it all the time in the neighborhood and we got the: Ham Panini: Black forest ham, fontina cheese, caramelized balsamic Red onions, honey Dijon mustard aioli, on a toasted Ciabatta rosemary bread & homemade pickles for $12 BRECKfast Sandwich: Panorama Croissant filled with smoked apple bacon, scrambled eggs for $9

Yelp
While the next-door spot may have stolen the spotlight for its coffee and pastries, this hidden gem deserves its moment in the sun. We ventured beyond the obvious and were pleasantly surprised by the offerings. Our order included a refreshing cold brew, a velvety matcha latte, and a delightful muffin. The cold brew was a wake-up call to our taste buds, bold and invigorating, providing that perfect caffeine kick. The matcha latte, on the other hand, was a silky, green masterpiece, marrying the earthy notes of matcha with the smoothness of perfectly steamed milk. As for the muffin, it was a true revelation. Moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet, making us wonder why this place isn't hailed for its baked delights.

Yelp
Went here with my boyfriend, the shop was a cute little space with a winery room in the back. The coffee was really good, i'd recommend getting the vanilla latte and the cappuccino. The service was and the workers were helpful.

Yelp
Brecks is located right next door to a pretty popular bakery and features outside patio tables as well as inside seating the coffee is very smooth and they offer an assortment of wines and chilled beverages as well the bagel with cream cheese was perfectly toasted would definitely be back! new favorite spot
google avatar

Maisie W.

Yelp
3.5/5 I got 2 matcha lattes $6 each and it just didn't hit my taste buds. Tasted more milk than the matcha.
google avatar

Emmeline W.

Yelp
Chic wine & coffee spot! Breck's caught our eye as we were otw to Arsicault This is half a cafe, half a wine market. Can only imagine how lively it gets in the evenings. We popped in on a Friday afternoon and experienced no wait. Staff are kind and attentive. CHAGACCINO: Very prominent earthy flavor, kind of medicinal and vegetal aftertaste. Still silky tho. Not bad if you're used to it. Comparable energy boost to a regular cappuccino. While we waited for our order, we found ourselves browsing through their impressive wine selection. The open shelves make it seem endless. We'll have to be back for their drinks and grub.
google avatar

Raquel C.

Yelp
We got two coffees and both tasted like milk and water with a dash of coffee. So a heavily watered down drink. They also charge .50¢ for an iced drink which I've never seen before. So a $6+ iced mocha is ridiculous when it tastes nothing like mocha nor coffee! Not sure of they even add sweetener but this was also not sweet at all. Honestly just the worst coffee I've had. I would rather drink diner coffee. I assume the coffee they sell only gets bought because it's next to the bakery.
google avatar

Carla G.

Yelp
my friend & i stopped by as we noticed they offer iced matcha lattes. service was quick, though we both agreed that our drinks tasted "watery." and mine was just lacking any flavor or sweetness.
google avatar

Anandita S.

Yelp
He came here for a cup of coffee as we were waiting for the bakery, Next Door for 45 minutes. Just place a super friendly very clean and super warm for a cold day in the city. I had definitely enjoyed a hot cup of latte.

Yelp
Same as all the other 1, 2, 3 star reviews. Been here multiple times and now as a local in the hood and am finally fed up. You try to support a local place over the years and just get ire every... single... f'ing... time... no more as of today. Go back to New York. In the midst of doing inventory/restocking on a Thursday afternoon, the entire place was a hot mess, I asked the owner where the chilled white wine section was. He pointed to two bottles at the bottom of one crusty fridge that looked like they were samples like I was an idiot. What reputable wine store doesn't have chilled white wine? Went to Spanish Table a block away and got something great for the event.
google avatar

Eleanor A.

Yelp
What a cute store! I love the idea of coffee and wine pairing, and the lattes were amazing.
google avatar

Matty C.

Yelp
This place is cute. It has about 10 indoor tables and 10 outdoor tables which are great to work at. Unfortunately that's where the desire ends. I've never had the food or wine but the coffee is mediocre, and the service has been consistently cold the multiple times I've been. The workers don't acknowledge you at all or even smile. I go to this place solely for the convenience factor and not much else. Would love to see some friendlier workers and that would bump it up a star.

Rachel G.

Yelp
Breck's has the best avocado toast I've ever had, and they offer a gluten free bread option. Get it with salmon or an egg on top for the full experience. I enjoy the baristas and the owner, who is often around. It's a beautiful space, though often crowded (it's popular!) and noisy. Sometimes if you sit in the back, near the kitchen, you're treated to the clash between the cafe music and the kitchen music. I would prefer a stronger taste of coffee in the espresso drinks, and would be happy if someday the gluten free bread they use got an upgrade. Even so, Breck's has the best avocado toast I've ever had.
google avatar

Claire G.

Yelp
Update! They've extended their hours on Sundays so now late risers can enjoy a cappuccino or cocktail in the afternoon
google avatar

Sana H.

Yelp
I loved their coffee beans. The ice latte I got was smooth and creamy. Af first I was a little concern that the lattes didn't come with flavoring or syrups but once having the coffee I realized it did not need any flavoring or sugar. The coffee beans were smooth enough and did not have a bitter after taste. The place is small inside and there is some sitting outside. The utensils and sugar are located outside the coffee shop by the entrance. We had a little trouble looking for the straws and napkins, we needed to ask the barista.
google avatar

Alena K.

Yelp
Came to breck's after getting some baked goods from arsicult. We got a iced oat milk latte ($6) and a iced matcha latte with oat milk ($6.50). The drinks were good but the girl taking our order was super rude and stand offish. Pretty sure they gave my friend regular milk for her matcha latte because she got the runs from it. Vibes are interesting because there's wines everywhere and tables with people studying all around.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee and service conveniently located right n3xt door to Ariscault Bakery. Charming neighborhood apotvwhere you can chill with a cup of Joe or a glass of wine. Staff are very friendly and seems to have plenty of available seating most days. Outdoor seating available

Yelp
I'm not sure I understand the service "style" of Breck's. The ambiance is impressive and comfortable, the coffee and internet are above average and reviews and popularity put it front and center among coffee shops in the area. However, the two young people at the counter didn't seem to know how to greet people. They apparently thought they were doing a good job maybe? I'm not sure how else to put that: my experience was the same as many who walked in. I watched and took note: most people would come in and be very friendly and in almost all cases the response was kind of robotic and for lack of a better word "unresponsive"? I thought it was me, but I noticed that about 3 out of 5 customers were greeted the same way: with an unenthusiastic and barely audible engagement with no or very little eye contact. Disengaging at the very least. I honestly thought I wasn't ordering correctly. The cashier was looking in a completely different direction while I ordered (I did so very politely by the way). I hesitated, asked them if I was supposed to order while the person stood there in front of me looking elsewhere, I mentioned that it seemed like I was doing something wrong and somehow they interpreted that as meaning that I didn't know how to order at a coffee shop. Ha! I saw this happen many times in just under an hour there. I wouldn't call it attitude, but rather lack of attention to how people greet one another maybe? That and maybe not understanding why people are there and who those people are? Doctors. Lawyers. Professors. Other baristas. Who knows? You certainly cannot know, so why not treat everyone as if they are equally important to those who DO know them? This is not a generational thing! I see it done well every day elsewhere, and those people don't know me either. Please Please look how other excellent coffee shops greet people and take their orders. This is NOT a generational thing! I'm in 50-80 coffee shops annually and the idea is almost always the same everyone and without regard to generation and customer base: be easy going and welcoming and make eye contact and if possible smile. You don't need to have a long conversation - almost all customers understand this. They usually don't have time for it either!
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
I've been here twice and ordered two different drinks, which were both solid but maybe slightly too milky. I enjoy the feel of the place overall. It's clearly a neighborhood favorite because it seems to always have a steady flow of customers in and out. I just wish it was a little more affordable, but hey that's San Francisco.

Jeremiah B.

Yelp
The good: cheapest glass of wine around ($7), nice relaxed atmosphere, can usually get a table. The bad: the service. There is one bigger girl with glasses who works there who is consistently rude. I go elsewhere if I see her working. The other workers aren't too friendly either. Too bad the attitude is so sour there! Can't they hire more cheerful staff?
google avatar

Anya Z.

Yelp
The drinks and food are really good but the service is poor. The girl taking our order never looked us in the eye and had an attitude when talking to us. Actually she barely even said anything to us and we had to confirm that she got our order etc. It made the time there less pleasant.
google avatar

Tina K.

Yelp
This little gem of a coffee/wine shop is on the corner right next to arsicault bakery. We got our croissant next door and decided to try the coffee here (arsicault has amazing croissants, coffee... not so much). You walk into Breck's and it sure is magical! Coffee and wine... my two favorite things living harmoniously under one roof. Since it was 8:30 in the morning, I decided coffee was the more appropriate option this time. I had a flat white and my son had a hot chocolate - both were excellent. My flat white was strong and you could actually taste the great flavor of the coffee! It was such a treat. The employees working were super friendly, patient, and efficient. 5 stars all the way!

Y M.

Yelp
This is a wine bar -- what wine bar charges $9 corkage if you buy one of their bottles. Bad taste left. Will never return.
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
I won't be coming back. I understand the espresso machine is down but try being solution oriented in place of having a pretentious "I'm too good for this" attitude. The moment I approached the bar it was immediate disrespect. Also they added way too much milk to the chai latte, which isn't that hard. I'd say just go to Starbucks at that point for higher quality and better service.

Elani C.

Yelp
Rude attendants, took an hour for 2 mediocre breakfast sandwhich. Cold brew sucks. They gave my food to the wrong person because I have a "confusing" name. Then they got the order wrong. Ridiculous. Bagel is dry and lox has bones in it. Croissant is completely flat and dry.
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
Breck's is a small neighborhood wine bar that also serves coffee, a few sandwiches, salads and pastries. It used to be a convenience store selling beer, wine, sodas, chips, candies, etc (not sure if same owner) but it's now upgraded and looking quite nice. It's conveniently located at the corner of Clement and Arguello. And...neighbors with Arsicault Bakery. So don't be surprised or deterred to see a long a** line snaking down Arguello filled with Croissant-hungry hopefuls. Although there may be a line outside Breck's, it's normally just a short wait. In normal times, you can sit outside and sip your wine or coffee; however, everything is to-go right now. They proudly advertise that they serve Verve coffee. I usually grab an Americano if I'm nearby, but recently we came by to try their sandwich and salad. Ham Panini $12, was good but at this price, we were expecting a bit of a bigger sandwich. Hb ate this up but I did taste the ham and cheese filling. Tasty. Kale & Beet salad $12, was a very delicious salad. It's a good balance of sweetness from the beets, the slightly acidity of the balsamic vinaigrette, and the creaminess of the goat cheese made it a bit indulgent. I actually forgot I was eating something healthy there for a minute because it was so enjoyable. Next time I will ask them to skip the farro though because I'm on low carb and grain-sensitive, but if you don't have that problem, it's perfectly fine.

Lea H.

Yelp
Think this place could be amazing and the perfect neighborhood place but feels like they're not living up to their potential. Frustrating that their hours aren't listed in a consistently listed place and got a bottle of wine that should've been great but wasn't because we think the storing process made it bad. Hoping Breck's can realize its potential and be the great place we know it can be!
google avatar

Ella B.

Yelp
When your business model is wine and apps the rest should be pretty easy to maintain. Unfortunately, we had the same experience as others. The young gentlemen at the counter were nice and engaged. However, when I asked for a wet rag to clean the filthy table and seat *myself* the woman was rude and asked me if the napkins at the front door were gone. I said I was only trying to help, and she told me to go look for them there. Ok. Cool. Then she knocked something off the counter, didn't pick it up, and then sat on her phone. lol Not going back.
google avatar

Yelp
Location, location location! Breck's got it! Right next to Arsicault Bakery, You can't go wrong with being the neighbor of the #1 patisserie (croissants) in the USA. Bags of Arsicault goodies beg for a beverage. Whether it's hot coffee, tea or cocoa Breck's got it! Hot outside? Get a cold glass of wine chilled too! I had a lovely Rishi English Breakfast tea along with my Arsicault chocolate croissant this morning. Yes, calories calories...but I'm worth it! Can't go to Paris at the moment. Here is the next best place to be.
google avatar

Kaley N.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop. Walked in here to grab coffee drinks after getting pastries next door and the iced chais (one with almond milk and the other with oat milk) were great. The service was quick and the woman who took our order was very nice. We didn't do this but you could also purchase wines from their eclectic wine selection if you like as well. While we were waiting for our drinks we perused the wines and they look like some super fun unique wines to try. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Love this little spot on the corner of Arguello and Clement Avenue. This fantastic spot brings people from high and low together which is what I call the ideal community. Well done to the owner who established this store. I feel it's a perfect marriage between his corner store and the bakery next-door. Will somebody please do me the favor of taking care of those plants that are growing outside the doors. For the past three years I've been nurturing the succulents to come back and look welcoming to the patrons. I have since moved from SF and hope that someone will pick up the baton and give them some love.

Yelp
Came here on a whim and love the outdoor seating and the fact that it's next to Arizmendi's for a scone!

Yelp
We love getting a drink at Breck's in the evening. It's the best! Love sitting outside on nice nights and especially love the spritz!

Yelp

Yelp
Stopped by for a coffee after shopping at Tantrum. Great coffee, yummy apricot linzer cookie, loved the outdoor seating. They look to have a great wine selection so I'll have to check that out next time.

Yelp

Yelp
Stopped by randomly because I was next door at Arsicault and needed something to quench my thirst. I tried the chagaccino and it was surprisingly very good considering it was only 40 calories. Very smooth and strong. The inside has cozy, charming vibes and the girl taking my order was very friendly

Yelp
Nice cozy coffee place, they serve Verve coffee and make nice little avocado toast, Did not try much more but you also have great bakery near by for more...
