"Bred Gourmet, proprietor of some of Boston’s best burgers, is getting fancy for restaurant week festivities. Try a three-course dinner at Bred for $36 that includes whiskey-battered onion rings or a Caesar salad to start, a choice of entree such as the Maui burger with a smoked beef patty, pork belly, grilled pineapple, and sweet plantains, or the 504 fried chicken sandwich with a Creole slaw, plus a dessert of glazed beignets or milk and cookies. Or, check out the slightly abbreviated lunch menu for $27 per person." - Erika Adams, Nathan Tavares

In love 😍! I got the loaded fries and a burger. It was soooo good, I don’t regret it all. At first, I saw the prices and was discouraged but it’s totally worth it. Also, we got some sorrel (hibiscus juice) and we mixed it with the wine, 💯 recommend. The service is 10/10. They are friendly AND have good music taste. Run to go try a burger there💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

So I drove from North Attleboro, MA to Cambridge and the trip did not disappoint! I went to Kendall Square location and it was the best 1st experience ever! Greeted promptly by the GM, atmosphere very nice, loved the little conversation area and music was a whole vibe! I ordered the Smoked Burger and Onion Rings. My compliments to the Chef!!! Presentation and temperature of the food was just right. Kudos to the owners, I had a great 1st experience and will definitely be back. When I come back I’m hoping to have others with me!

This place was sooooo good!! The food tasted fresh, and didn’t leave you feeling gross and heavy it was 10/10. The employees were very attentive, and helpful the service overall was 10/10.

Google
Freezing cold inside and no front of the house to greet or take orders. Two guys in the back trying to juggle a pile of orders for takeout and dine-in, will occasionally pop their head into the dining room to give people their orders or to provide napkins or utensils. It's super weird and also freezing cold inside. Like really cold. I miss my gloves and sitting on the metallic chair borderline stings. Aside from that the food itself is pretty good, albeit expensive. A kids menu, and two chicken sandwiches, a side of fries, and one drink cost us over $55. Seems a bit much but it's all fairly tasty. Honestly a front of the house person, and heat would fix some of our gripes with the place.

Google
This is my second time coming here. The Cousin Stizz fries are the best thing on the menu. The burgers are nothing to write home about. The beignets were a nice sweet treat.

Marjorie Lee Cooper

Google
This is just for takeout (delivery) ordered 2 Maui burgers and large truffle fries. The burgers were pretty good. Delivery was fairly quick but the fries were not fresh. Seemed like they have been sitting around all day. They were inedible. Paying $10 for fries that we couldn't eat is outrageous.

Google
Outstanding! Now I understand the hype. Both burger and fried chicken sandwich were sensational. The reggae playlist and service also top notch.

Very cozy, clean, quick service. Food is in a league of its own. Offers a break from what is consistent in the area. This is a unique experience for your palette you do not want to pass up on!

Yelp
Very stylish space on Main Street with a bar, hightops, lowtops, and even a few couches for lounging. Wings: Smoked and then fried with choice of sauce. Typical size, typical sauce (I chose sweet chili), and very good texture, coming in lightly crisp on the outside and very juicy inside. Would defin itely order again, trying the various sauce options. Monte Carlo Burger: This is a monstrosity and an edible work of art, with two smoked patties (with some thickness to them), two slabs of pork belly (thick, tewnderm, chewy in a good way), two kinds of cheese (cheddar and gouda), onion jam (very sweet), and aioli. Superb bun. Good seasoning. Decent moistness. I definitely enjoyed this but would avoid the onion jam and go for a simpler configuration next time. Hand Cut Fries: Also thick. Struck me as more similar to frozen than hand cut, but pretty good.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service are a winning combination! We were looking for meatless burgers and fries. I stumbled across Bred on Yelp. Their impossible burger is delicious! There is an art to making a burger great, and they mastered it. The sweet potato fries with a hint of cinnamon-- were finger-licking good. The cajun fries left a spicy goodness on my lips until we got home. Just good food. Good people. We will be back! There are only a few tables, but the music is great and the woman who took our order was so friendly!

Sophie B.

Yelp
Only tried one thing but tbh it was pretty weak. The Kobe Chicken sandwich has gochujang sauce, pineapple and aioli. There was a ton of pineapple but the chicken was small and thin so it didn't balance well. What little chicken there was was moist and crunchy. The whole thing was also drowning in the gochujang sauce. Which was very tasty but way over powering, I have no idea what the aioli tasted like or if it was there because of the overpowering of the sauce and pineapple. The bread was also kinda burnt.

Yelp
Bred Gourmet is located in lower mills section of Dorchester. A foodie I follow recommended the place. Parking: free 2 hour street parking I asked the very friendly and accommodating cashier what are most popular items on the menu; he stated the Cousin Stizz Fries. I could tell they would be delicious because most of the Fries orders were placed afterwards. Cozy seating of a few tables and high table seating. Large TV in the place and games located in the place. We played Connect 4 while we waited for our order: -Cousin Stizz Fries (we shared) Cajun fries topped with spicy sweet chilli. Buttermilk fried chicken. Chipolte Aoli and scallions. -Hambuger with full trimmings -Kodak BLAT: chicken sand. w/avocado. Applewood bacon. Served on a ciabatta bun -Honey chicken & waffles -Beignets with nutella for desset was chef's kiss and Star of the show!! I asked my family what 2 words describe our lunch: "Epic Foods" "Crispingly Delicious" "Tasty Bar-Foods" If I could give Bred double stars I would. Thank you Bred Gourmet for an excellent lunch experience with family.

RM J.

Yelp
Probably a 3.5 Good experience but not great. Lots of specialty burger options available and the flavors here came up a bit short for me.

Alyanna T.

Yelp
Got takeout here a few years ago, and glad we came back more recently. Rounding my rating up to 5 stars. My partner and I got the Bred classic burger, Monte Carlo burger, Parmesan truffle fries, and sweet plantains - TASTE: 5/5 - everything hit the spot. Well-seasoned patties in both burgers, so the standard toppings (bacon, onion, etc) in my classic burger were perfect complements. I am a sucker for truffle, so the Parmesan truffle fries did not disappoint. And ending w the sweet plantains was phenomenal. Need to come back to sample the beignets and the rest of the burgers TEXTURE: 5/5 - smoked patties, tender smoked pork belly in the Monte Carlo, soft buns, and perfectly fried Parmesan truffle fries and plantains. Satisfying all around PRICE: 4/5 - total came to $51. The Monte Carlo is more expensive ($23) than the other burgers ($13-17) SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - came hungry and left absolutely stuffed SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:15pm on a Saturday, placed our order at the counter, and our food started coming out 10-15min later ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - small space, w maybe 15 seats, and great music TAKEOUT: 4/5 - appreciated the compostable box that the French fries came in PARKING: 4/5 - got a free street spot right on Dorchester Ave

Yelp
We love trying an amazing black owned business in the neighborhood! Saw this place on TikTok and had to check it out. It is a small space but they do have two tables and a long counter for dining in. Afro beats were playing in the background- really adding to the vibe. We ordered cousin stizz fries and a Yosemite burger. The burger was delicious, the crunchy bacon and carmelized onion really did it for me. The fries were a full meal in and of themselves. They had an amazing spice but also a yummy sauce with delicious little pieces of fried chicken- a MUST try for uniqueness. We ended with an order of beignets- they were PERFECTION. Crunchy on the outside fluffy and doughy on the inside. Definitely a must try place in dot!

Arnetta M.

Yelp
Yes! Food was excellent... great menu options. The sorrel tea delicious! Bring your appetite!

Chris B.

Yelp
The burgers are solid, but the barbecue jerk wings are outstanding. Always a favorite stop when I'm in Dorchester Center.

Shana S.

Yelp
**Updated review** I came back because I believed in the beignets. They were bomb . The place was very clean, with a cute fig tree at the entrance. The service was EXCELLENT. Everyone was nice, especially the cook who made the order. I also tried the classic burger, which wasn't bad. Fries was still heavy with grease, but you know I ate them anyways and it was good.

Mike F.

Yelp
I come here for the beignets. Service is good. Place is always clean. Recently saw some cool wall art.

April J.

Yelp
Congratulations on the GMA award!! God bless you for the sacrifice, faith and success to provide for your family and to give back to the community! The Cambridge location will too be a hit!! Keep keeping on Tambo and staff! Yes your food is delicious.

DeeShawn R.

Yelp
I'm a big believer in bred and it's one of the best near Quincy/Dorchester area. Recently ordered pickup and I'm sadly disappointed in their burgers. The serving sizes shrunk I feel. And this time I noticed the patty to be pre-made or bought frozen... Originally wanted Maui and have tried to get it the past few times but they always never make it or this time they said they didn't have pineapple. I hope this is a one time fluke and not the quality going down

Matthew S.

Yelp
Service as always been A+++ Ambiance has only gotten better since they opened but always top tier. Food was delicious when he opened, I thought it fell off for a little bit. But back to being second to none. The menu got bigger and the burgers got even better than before. I got the 'Somewhere in Wiscansin' ~~~ smoked burger, pig candy, butter, caramelized onion, cheddar, maple bourbon aioli served on a brioche bun 5 Stars for me

Tequealla S.

Yelp
AMAZING! I order the Maui burger with Cajun fries and the entire meal did not disappoint! The burger was overwhelmingly delicious and the fries had the perfect amount of heat and kick as I love some spice in all of my meals. Will be returning for the cousin stizz fries and beignets since I hear they're amazing as well! Love the esthetic, too! Very cute, clean, and the service was warm and welcoming.

Erin H.

Yelp
What happened to the good quality of food here?! I walked in to order my meal about 5pm. I ordered the parisian burger cooked medium. The burger was beyond dry. It honestly tasted like a reheated burger patty. The onions and mushrooms was very mushy. It made the bread super soggy. Just overall disappointed. I remember coming here and the quality of burger being actually mouthwatering. There was nothing gourmet here

John H.

Yelp
The Marly Chicken Sandwich was pretty good. Had a nice spicy kick to it and the toppings were a nice compliment. The wait can take a bit long so I would order online ahead of time if you can. Prices were on the higher side than I expected given fries don't come with the sandwich but the quality is there.

CJ W.

Yelp
So good! I ordered a Caesar salad (I started out with healthy intentions!) but added fried chicken to it, and a side of fried plantains for lunch one day, and a cheeseburger with Parm truffle fries the next day for lunch. My expectations for the salad were pretty low, but boy was the chicken bomb! So good! The plaintains were also great. I will say seeing the greasiness on the burger bun was slightly off-putting (as if anyone expected a cheeseburger not to be greasy, but gosh!), but it was deliciousssss! The fries were amazing! Salty, but amazing nonetheless. Loved it, as bad as it was for my health, it was so good, omg.Parmesan TruffleThe Yosemite Burger

Ariana B.

Yelp
Food was decent and filling! The cajun fries have a LOT of cajun, but very little salt, so keep that in mind. The portion size is decent, I walked away feeling fulfilled. Kind, hard working chef with great service.

Judith S.

Yelp
We have been going to Bred since it opened and the food is always so good. I'm sure I was not the only one who encouraged the owner, Tambo, to be one of the vendors at Taste of Dorchester a year or two after he opened and, to no one's surprise, he won. My husband and I have slowly migrated away from beef but Bred has got us covered. I now get the Yosemite with a turkey burger just about every time, and he either gets the Bred Salmon burger (pretty spicy!) or the Bred Veggie. The turkey burger is well-seasoned, as is everything else, and you'd be hard pressed to say that the turkey was not as good as their beef. The truffle fries, sweet potato fries, and/or sweet plantains are just the right complement to the burgers. I haven't tried any of the chicken sandwiches or the salads because I like the burgers so much. I have tried the smoothies, though, and I really like the Blue Magic. Beer and wine are available at a great price, and there is a Saturday brunch (they are not open on Sundays). The owner is often there, and he and everyone else who works there make it a pleasant experience. It's a small place and he has managed to expand the seating over the years; comfortable and clean. And, I was happy to learn that he is going to open a second spot soon. When I was working, I introduced some colleagues to Bred and they started doing lunch pick up runs. Now that I am retired, my husband and I keep Bred on our list of options when I am not in the mood to cook.

Jared M.

Yelp
The cousin stizz fries were delicious! The food was definitely a bit expensive but they gave very generous portions.

Jay M.

Yelp
I saw on Tv chronicle show and needed a try, Nice clean well run restaurant. I ordered the Parisian Burger and jerk wings. I didn't see owner who was on Chronicled show on Tv when I went there. But all employees great I met. Reggae music I liked in restaurant. So, all great Burger Patty was limp option to me vs a bigger burger. But the additives on the patty were excellent.... I'd eat again but .... It all starts with the burger... and burger itself needs upgrade...better than a patty style Burgers were shown Smoking as part of process , I got slight smoke taste impact and better to cook fresh a bigger burger.... Jerk wings good but reheated dry wings... need fixing as dry reheated wings not good and worse for delivery... Prices very fair and reasonable and great business and people... needs tweaking as burgers are excellent . The chicken and waffles planned look excellent . Place to me a great place for a meal , takeout or delivery.

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
I decided to give Bred a try this past week as I heard great things and I have been looking for new places to try around the neighborhood. I got the bred classic burger and honey garlic wings with truffle fries. The burger was great, all the flavors complimented each other and made for a great bite. I typically am not a fan of wings unless they are korean fried chicken but these wings were yummy, I must say. The honey garlic sauce was delicious and I dipped both my burger and my fries in the sauce. The people who work here are also very nice and helpful! I will definitely be visiting again soon!

Dott N.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered from here and both of ours were no good. I got one of the burgers but the patty was overcooked and the entire thing was extremely dry. T And the thing is literally the size of a McDonald's burger... But for $20! The fries were also gross. Ate a few and then tossed the rest. Also this thing said it came with applewood smoked bacon... They literally put about 1/6th-1/8th of a single strip of bacon on here. Just barely larger than maybe 2 thumbnails-size.... That's it. Like how much does this bacon cost that you have to skimp THAT much on a $20 BURGER that's literally the size of my fist? Flavor of the burger overall was ok but kind of ruined by the overcooked dryness. I'll let my friend describe his: I got the grilled jerked chicken sandwich and first of all: it comes with cheese??? Like I like cheese but who puts it on a grilled chicken sandwich?? This cheese did not go well with it at all and the description didn't mention any cheese. I would have put no cheese in the description if I knew. Also the thing was overcooked and dry and it's tiny like shakeshack size... Or smaller maybe? There flavor was meh. The fries were like overcooked but soggy at the same time? Did you guys fry these in water?? Don't get this if you go here. Anyway we kind of expected gourmet from a gourmet burger place.. how does this place have such high ratings?? I've had better burgers from fast food places... And they were like 1/5th the cost of these. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Frederick O.

Yelp
Yo, I heard this place on TikTok. I think it was Instagram Instagram. I got the 12 wings jerk honey garlic and I got the rude boy burger. This food was delicious all of it down to the last bite and I love it because it arrived still hot. This is a must try and I'm sure you enjoy.

Muhammed A.

Yelp
Food is delicious, staff is amazing! Cousin Sti's fries are a 10/10, the burgers are excellent and the service is quick for prep to order.

M02144 M.

Yelp
I ordered the 504 sandwich and it was not great at all, Chicken was chewy and It did taste like breast of chicken more like another part of the chicken. Didn't finish the sandwich but I will say the service was great, really nice people who work there. I will try it again though and give it another chance

Kawana M.

Yelp
Consistently delicious menu and friendly staff. Locally owned and Black-owned, this spot is perfect for eat-in or take-out burger, sandwiches, and smoothies.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I was not a big fan of their food. It is very decadent which is kind of overkill for this small burger joint. When I was there I had a burger and truffle fries. No complaints about the service pretty quick and efficient. Can get crowned very fast I don't think there is room the sit down.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Let me start off nice. One I am for supporting black owned businesses especially the havoc that COVID has caused the restaurant industry. Next I ordered my food at work (12/30/21) was told that it would be ready at 4:10 but then I was told it would be ready at an earlier time. Then I found parking right in front of the restaurant so a girl was happy. Now here are the not so nice comments. So when I arrive a gentleman was receiving his food. After he left the employee behind the counter rolled her eyes, shook her head in disgust and mumbled something under her breath. I couldn't make it out what she said but her look of disgust was unprofessional. So here I am next in line and I tell her my name and she gets the order. I say thank you and she replies "yup". I raised both eyebrows and saying to myself did she just say "yup". Mind you I had taken out a few dollars to tip because once again restaurants are struggling to keep afloat. But I was already disgusted by her actions after the customer in front of me left then for her to say "yup" after I said thank you. Now I'm home. I bite my burger and that burger was extremely salty I couldn't even finish it. Sorry Bred I will not be back. Less salt and better customer service.

Jane B.

Yelp
While the food is really good they Never get my order right! For a specialty burger place I expect my food to match up with my online order receipt attached to order!.

William B.

Yelp
Holy crap this place sucks. My office just ordered Bred via Relish (uber eats for offices basically) I kid you not every single person in this office is talking negatively about their meal. I got the hot chicken sandwich and I don't know if it was over-fried or if thats what it was supposed to taste like but it tasted burnt and bad. Left a bad review on the app and now leaving this one here because when places are overpriced AND bad, people should know. Good service I will say, it was on time but food was bad.

Angie P.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I ordered the Parisian, medium well with Cajun fries. My sister ordered the Moody Buffalo, with sweet potato fries. Parisian: thick, juicy, seasoned lightly. Truffle aioli was mouth watering, add a fried egg(runny yolk) HEAVEN! Yum! Cajun fries: SEASONED WITH LOVE! Yum! Moody Buffalo: *we had to do a burger swap, lol Now I need to go back and order my own. The sauce on this gave you that Buffalo flavor but wasn't overwhelming on the vinegar. Juicy turkey burger! SWEET POTATO FRIES: Had a pinch of cinnamon on them, very subtle flavor. One bite and you're thinking...was that cinnamon? Next thing you know, you're eating entire large basket in one sitting.

George B.

Yelp
We always did takeout from Bred. The food never disappoints but the service usually did. For example, the Olympus burger at about $9 is a very good combination of all the Greek things on a burger. Kalamata tapenade, cucumber tzatziki, feta, and roasted pepper all comes together for a great burger. The problem is getting the burger. On multiple occasions we called in and order and the woman working the phones simply chose not submit it to the kitchen. Then we would show up and essentially have to reorder. Needless to say, this resulted in a long wait time. She clearly did not care. It's a shame because we like the food at Bred. Maybe we will try again but for now we look elsewhere.

Sharon I.

Yelp
Good food, best sweet potato fries. Friendly staff. Smaller inside but worth it. Great location

Casey C.

Yelp
Yum Yum YUM! Found this place on a list of must-try Black-Owned businesses in Boston. Got the Jerk Chicken BLT and Cousin Stizz Fries. The BLT was amazing, so tasty, and I finished it SO quickly. The fries were topped with incredible buttermilk fried chicken, and so much of it! I had expected more fries than chicken and I was pleasantly surprised. I barely made a dent in the fries once I was done with my BLT and it was a great appetizer for my dinner that evening. Only drawback I'd say was that the place was take-out only so we had to eat in the car...but the food was worth it!

Andrew W.

Yelp
Honestly not too good. I tend to stick to places with 4.5 stars or higher in Boston and that had been fine. Seems like this place has some mixed reviews which I should have watched out for. The grass-fed burger is bland and boring. The toppings have no character and are rushed and put together. I ordered a burger with truffle and truffle fries, but didn't taste truffle in either of them. This ended up to be more than $20. Fries were over cooked and not crispy. They were your typical bad fries. Really wanted to like this place because of the great pictures, but the actual product falls so short. No idea why this place would get any good reviews

Michael K.

Yelp
Disgusting. Soggy food. Too much soggy sauce. Did not honor my requests for sauce on the side. Overcooked burgers. Profoundly over-priced. Meat had too much gristle. I will never come here again.

Kendall D.

Yelp
Was really in the mood for a burger on my way home from a road trip and found this place (via its great yelp ratings!), SO glad I gave it a try! The parking situation is NOT great (or at least when I arrived it was impossible to find a street parking spot) but do not let that deter you from trying the tastiness that is a Bred burger and fries! I had the Parisian burger and truffle fries and was VERY full after but my soul was happy and my burger craving was so satisfied. Also it turned out to be a huge portion of fries so would recommend going in on it with a friend. :)

Joe S.

Yelp
had lunch here today with a friend, and both the food and service was A+ (we both had the smashed burgers and sweet plantains)

Singh B.

Yelp
They have some great burgers, made me stop going to McDonald's because you can taste the the difference, I wish they were open late, that would be the best , at least till 11,

Sonia N.

Yelp
Popped in the other day for a quick lunch and the menu offers some interesting burger variations. We specifically came for their infamous Parisian burger since it's made with bison meat as opposed to your garden variety beef and I was told that it didn't disappoint. I mean, any sandwich made with caramelized onions, truffle aioli and then topped with a fried egg can't be bad, right? As for myself, I was torn between the Salmon and the Veggie but finally went with the Salmon and we shared a large order of their Parmesan truffle fries. Burgers are hefty both in size and condiments. Thank goodness it came with a pick in the middle to hold it in place and I'd ask for utensils like we did as well. It will keep your work clothes from looking like you were just in a food fight :D Highly recommend the fries here as well. We got the large but wonder if that was really necessary since the portion was huge! Tables are limited and the setting is super casual almost like a sub shop so as long as you're okay with that, come on by. It's worth it if you're around the neighborhood looking for a decent burger joint.

Maddy S.

Yelp
This place is so good, everything they make is incredible. Favorites for us are the salmon burger and fried chicken sando. They added a Nashville hot chicken sandwich recently that is so delicious. We usually do pickup orders placed on their website but have also done outdoor dining on their patio in the summer.

B G.

Yelp
Ordered my food online, drove right down and it was ready. This was a really nice experience, I ended up sitting down to eat outside. The wholel lower Mills corridor is all set up with new window boxes and tables. it was a really nice change for my lunch break, I have to give the whole experience five stars. Had the jerk chicken sandwich and have to have mine gluten-free, dairy-free, sauce-free but with all the jerk flavorsand mushrooms it was still kickin'!

Christina J.

Yelp
BOMB BURGERS. I've been here twice, both times I got a Classic (add an egg, you won't regret it). The meat is juicy and the bread is soft. Sure, you'll run out of bread before finishing the burger but I'm not complaining. The fries are okay. First time I was here I ordered the Cajun fries which are just fries coated in too much Old Bay. The new wings that they added need some more work. The seasoning is on point however they are parboiled and didn't seem fully cooked. They could be on to something with dem $1 wings tho. And who could forget the beer. Having the option to drink a brew with my burger is great. Limited tap and even more limited space but overall, this place is a great find. Just be warned, it's a popular place so expect a little bit of a wait.

Paola F.

Yelp
The sauce and burger combo was fantastic! I got the impossible burger and my boyfriend got the bred classic and we were pleased!

Wilson L.

Yelp
Bred was buried deep in my Yelp search before I actually came across it. I'm a sucker for any hipster-esque places and Bred was everything. Inside is minimal with 4 wooden tables that probably couldn't seat, at most, 4 people per table. When you walk in the register is right in front of you and the menu is to the right. I got the BYOB and did jerk chicken on brioche with bacon, cheddar, and fried onions with cilantro aioli. The burger was spectacular! The jerk chicken was juicy and fresh. The onions and bacon gave it a really good crisp. But I probably wouldn't get brioche on it again because the burger caved in on itself the second I took a bite. I couldn't taste the cilantro aioli either. We also got a side of Parmesan truffle fries which were good but soggy and the truffle flavor was minimal. The truffle ketchup though was probably the best ketchup I've ever had. You could really taste the truffle flavor and it went well with the burger and the fries.

Lex P.

Yelp
I love a good burger and Bred is the only place that has never failed me. Everything is delicious every time!

Tanya J.

Yelp
If you're looking for a burger joint in the Boston area, this is it! Bred has the best burgers that I have had in the Boston area so far. They're made fresh and the kitchen is open so you can see what they are doing, always a good thing ! I had the Parisian and my friend had the Bred Salmon burger. Both of these were amazing !! We ask got a side of parmesan truffle fries, which were generously topped with cheese! The golden BBQ sauce is top notch, and the staff is bubbly and fun. The place is small, not many places to sit and eat, but if you're looking for a great burger, this is the place to go !
