Cosmic Brownies Are Inspiring American Bakeries | Bon Appétit

"Marck Goldstein’s version in Philadelphia is indistinguishably vegan—made with egg replacements and shortenings—yet remains fudgy and a steady seller because it taps into nostalgia and the warm, familiar feelings associated with the original snack." - BySam Stone

Brewerytown Bakery - Review - Brewerytown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A relative newcomer (they opened in July 2022), Brewerytown Bakery is all about vegan items–from the cupcakes and muffins (from Crust Vegan Bakery) to the sandwiches and bagels (from Kismet Bagels). Treat your bagel like a blank canvas and top it with vegan sausage, scrambled “eggs,” chocolate spreads, or pile it high with veggies. Everything behind the glass case is good, making it an ideal place to fuel up before a Monday full of Zoom meetings and hoping your wifi gets knocked out." - Candis R. McLean

I cannot rant and rave about this spot enough. The owners and employees are so down-to-earth, the space is bright and colorful, but most importantly — the food and baked goods are scrumptious beyond your wildest dreams. And secondarily, and shockingly to my meat-eating friends, it’s all vegan! I dream of their “Lox of Love” bagel sandwich because I don’t eat fish anymore and this hits the spot like no other vegan lox I’ve ever had. I bring my partner their whoopie pies and they’re mind-blown that they’re vegan. Their loafs are so delectable, their sweet and savory baked goods are better than most non-vegan bakeries, and the flaky French pastries are utter perfection. I would opt for pickup or sit-down since I had trouble with DoorDash once, but don’t let that deter you from ordering. Whether you’re vegan or just looking for a wonderful small, local bakery to support, they’ve got something to pique your interest!

I love discovering vegan places around Philly, so happy to have found this one! Chill atmosphere and super cute decor. They have the best croissants I've ever had in my entire life. Great taste and perfect amount of flakiness! I'm excited to come back and try their lox bagel.

I only have great things to say about Brewerytown Bakery!! The food is all top notch! I think I’ve tried almost everything at this point (you can call me a frequent flyer 😂), but the Lox of Love and Phillywide sandwiches are the standouts for sure! Also, the attention and detail put into the decor is stunning! The owner is so nice and personable, and he is super passionate about serving his community and providing them with highest quality baked goods! We’re so lucky to have such an awesome new business in the area!

Yay vegan 🌱 bakery!! Even if you’re not vegan, this is a must visit bakery. Loved the Lox of Love sandwich. Delicious and unique “lox”. Super friendly staff. Great selection of sweet and savory treats. I will be returning soon. 🥯💚

SO happy a bagel shop / bakery opened around here! Ordered their “lox” bagel on poppy seed and it was delicious! Love the strong dill flavor and it was fresh too. Also they’re dog friendly which makes it SO easy to grab a bagel on our morning walks 😋 also really love their chocolate velvet cupcake. I’m not into vegan desserts usually but this one was delicious! Def. Check it out!

This is my favorite vegan bakery of all time! The croissants are lovely--better than the non-vegan ones in Reading Terminal Station according to my colleague. The bagels are good and the flavored vegan cream cheeses are fantastic. The pastries are so good I could imagine moving to Philly just to be able to eat here. I am sad to be leaving.

Super cute spot that we snagged a bagel to go. The smear was a little overwhelming and dripping off but it was still delicious. Friendly staff and fun decor.

Went Apr 3 '25. Had a classic croissant, great! Soft fluffy layers, savory, slightly sweet flavor, fresh. Two small tables inside and a bench wall seat. Friendly, communal vibe. Peanut butter does not appear to be one of the bagel spread options.
