The Twin Cities’ Best Breweries With Outstanding Food | Eater Twin Cities

"The elote pizza from Bricksworth may just be the best Detroit-style pizza in the Twin Cities, with its jalapeño spice melting into oozing, buttery queso blanco, before finishing with smoky corn and salty, lime-laced Tajin. All of this atop massive pieces of cheesy crust caramelized to a nice crunch. Bricksworth is known for adventurous pizza – including The Happiest Meal, a pickled-up Thousand Island dressing, and even American cheese callback to a certain fast-food chain of your youth that is equal parts nostalgia and gratifyingly cheesy, tangy, and savory with oodles of ground beef. Online ordering is available at both the North Loop and Burnsville locations." - Louis Livingston-Garcia

Chef Ann Ahmed’s Newest Restaurant Has a Name: Gai Noi - Eater Twin Cities

"Bricksworth pairs craft beers with Detroit-style pizza, the rectangular, pan-baked style with a crispy cheese crust that’s been gaining local traction with the help of restaurants like Wrecktangle and Mario’s. Ingredient-wise, Bricksworth hews fairly close to classic Italian favorites: pepperoni, cremini mushrooms, prosciutto, anchovies, and mozzarella." - Justine Jones

Taking our first trip to Bricksworth for puzzle night with friends my wife and I were famished with only a light lunch, and looking at the menu while driving downtown, we were dying to dive into some food as soon as we arrived. Looking through the menu, we settled on the waffle fries, pickle dry rub tendies, and their staple pizzas: the Aloha & Happiest Meal. We only got the small, which were each 4 perfect servings of pizza with thick dough and amazing, crispy crust. We had just enough to fill up and have plenty to have for lunch the next day. The staff were alll friendly and it was a treat having our order brought to our table with our friends within 5 minutes of arriving. Knowing there is another location in Burnsville closer to our house, we definitely will be stopping out closer to home!

Stopped after attending a game at Target Field. We were hungry and thirsty and looking for a casual place to end our day. Pizzas were amazing and beer was cold. Our group enjoyed the varied beer choices. The atmosphere was friendly and casual I. the best way.

There were 11 of us on a Saturday at 5. Initially we had great service but after a while there were several of us who had empty glasses. Once the server arrived he only allowed one person to request a refill before he turned around to fill the request. Please train your servers to scan the whole table to see who else needs refills. The food was great. Drinks were great. Location was amazing, we will return.

Truly loved the drinks, I had the 16oz Topanga tap beer and it was by far one of the smoothest beers I’ve had. I really enjoyed it and the price point was solid as well, I tried my friends drink, she ordered the space cadet and it was citrusy with a hit of boozy tequila for sure! We got their about and hour before they closed (maybe that was our mistake) but we ordered the Parmesan fries and they definitely felt soggy and not crispy at all and they are literally not salted apart from the Parmesan dusting. Which kind of sucked. They truffle aioli tasted more like a ranch to the both of us (it was good but it was more runny as opposed to creamy) and as soon as we ordered with the bartender it was less than 2 minutes they had the fries ready which I wonder if that added to the reason they lacked crispiness. I think the portion was perfect for the both of to share we even had some left that we weren’t able to finish. I loved the outdoor patio, it’s such a hidden gem that could be easily missed. I hope to try their food sometime soon, their taki & cool ranch dorito wings/tenders definitely caught my attention! Hope to also try their Naz Reid Hazy IPA tap beer. Will hopefully be back again sometime this summer!

Google
Killer Detroit pies, great crisp cheese edge crusts like should w tons of lace, perfect happy hour size small shareable or for one w average skill. Bartender didn't even think they were on happy hour till I pointed out the menu flyer right on the table. Good selection of hazy beers too

Google
Ordered some wings and beers. Buffalo wings were the right combination of spicy and crispy. Crust was crisp while the meat was juicy and tender. Had 2 beers, duke silver and a goin yard. Both worked well with the wings. Service.....was great. Bartender with the long curly hair was attentive and overall a delight to to talk to while waiting for the food. Atmosphere was pleasant, able to hold a conversation without being drowned out by ambient noise. Bar counter was clean and tidy. Would come again and recommend.

My now husband and I met at Bricksworth, we loved how causal, easy going, intimate type of space they had. When we were looking at venues for our wedding we thought, yknow, why not try the place where we first met, had our first date- the whole process was easy, Sam and everyone else involved were great throughout it all. From scheduling a visit of the area, going over the menu, setup, and day of, easy breezy. The space is lovely because is within the restaurant but separated from it. We loved the outside patio, having the city and train right there was a big sell for us. The service was great, the people were kind- thank you so much for having been a part of our big day. We’d definitely swing by in the future and highly recommend Sam & the Bricksworth team ❤️

Google
This place is great! The beer is tasty, the service was friendly, and our family had a great time. I was pleasantly surprised that they had healthy options on the menu. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Yelp
Had a great time checking out Bricksworth's newest location in the old Darby's spot. The food was on par with what you expect from Bricksworth, and the beer was sensational as always! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Definitely a great addition to the North Loop food scene!

Yelp
FOOD: I love love lovveeee Detroit style pizza, so I was super excited to check out their food. The chicken bacon ranch was soo good + the crust was so crispy. I wouldn't say it's my favorite Detroit style pizza I had, but still super good. SERVICE: Service was great, we got seated right away and got our food and drinks fairly fast. AMBIANCE: This was a great place to go watch a game- we went for March Madness because we knew there were a lot of TV's. They have a cool patio with lights for the summertime too. LOCATION/PARKING: Parking might be hard to find around here and the location is kind of hidden, so plan ahead.

Yelp
Amazing experience! The beers here are amazing. So much flavor and really refreshing. They have an outdoor patio which is really spacious and the inside has a bar and tables. Lots of space to hang out with friends, family and fur friends! They also have pull tabs here to play and gamble which if you are not from MN is a thing! Definitely play because it is fun but unfortunately it is addictive so be careful LOL. We ordered the 6x6 pizza and added our own toppings. Wow. As a New Yorker it is hard to impress me when it comes to pizza but this was top notch. It is done in a deep dish style but it is perfect size and delicious. The wings look incredible but we did not get to try. Our bartender was Kelley and she was so kind and funny and helped us pick out beers. Honestly I do not have any complaints about this spot only good things to say! Hope you read this and it makes you want to go out and enjoy just like we did!

Yelp
The best thing about this place was the service. It was a hot day and it was nice and cool inside. It's seat yourself and there are plenty of options. We chose a high top table and as soon as we sat down our waitress came over to help us. We ordered beer and food. Everything was delicious. They seem to do quite a bit of takeout so if that's your thing give them a shot. It was a good experience with great service.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place, we love a good Detroit style pizza and it was truly underwhelming. The bartender was very nice and it was a fun atmosphere but we got the truffle fries and they were under done, then custom pizzas and they just weren't good. The garlic ricotta mix should honestly be illegal it was not good unless you like uncooked garlic. I would try it again if someone suggested it but probably the wings.
google avatar

Kelsey D.

Yelp
I came to bricksworth with a group of friends to watch the Timberwolves play! This was a great location for that with all of the TV's. They have a milk & honey cider that I got along with a gluten free pizza. The gluten free pizza was a little difficult to eat but was great and a fun option to have. The pizza was ok the more expensive end so not a pizza I would get all the time. Next time I want to try their fries! This location is street parking or a parking garage next to it that is a pay lot. Our server was quick to fill up our drinks and take our food order.

Yelp
I really love this place. The North Loop location is so cool! Enjoyed their beer, their pizza, AND their burger. For a pizza joint they have a damn good burger! Last time I was here I LOVED the cool ranch chicken wings. SO GOOD! So the food is top notch for a Beer Co. We also loved the beers. Great flavors, good selection, all around great! I've always had really good service here too. Friendly, good sense of humor, yet efficient and helpful and on top of their game. Tons of TVs if you like to watch the sports ball stuff, yet the Monday night we went still a decent noise level to have a good conversation. Definitely going to go back for more wings and to see what their monthly specials are. So tempted by the pickle roll pizza January 2024. Love the outside of the box pizza thinking for a rectangle pizza joint.

Yelp
Bricksworth is the sister brewery to one of my favorites in the Cities, Blackstack. Unlike Blackstack, Bricksworth has a full food menu, too! Their space is cozy and comfortable and the patio is amazing in the summer (except for when a train goes by, but that's no deal breaker for me). The pizza is Detroit style with crispy, cheesy edges and chewy center crust, topped with some unique flavor combinations. I really enjoy how many different options there are for toppings! On my last visit, I tried the Cross my Heart (Artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, housemade creamy basil dressing, goat cheese crumbles). The entire pizza was insanely rich and delicious. Previously, I tried The Happiest Meal (House ground beef, three cheeses, house pickles, special sauce, sesame seeds) with Impossible meat subbed for the ground beef. This is exactly what you'd expect, heavy, salty, burger flavor in a pizza. I really enjoyed this unique combo but probably wouldn't order the whole pizza for myself, since it's VERY heavy. Drinks-wise, Bricksworth also has super tasty beers. My favorite so far was the Peanut Butter Spotty; it was very rich & flavorful. Super tasty! In the summer, we also had a Grape Ape slush, which tasted exactly like its namesake and beat the summer heat. Service has been fast and friendly both inside and on the patio; my friends had a small baby with us when we sat outside and our server made sure to pick a table with shade for her, which was very kind. Cons: -the bathroom is far away (it seems to be shared with the apartment/condo complex that's on the upper floors)

Yelp
Bricksworth's new location is now open in the North Loop here you can enjoy all the deliciousness you may or may not have had at their Burnsville spot. Hopefully, for a lot of you this is closer to home and will make you take that leap to try their fantastic brews alongside some thicc square pies and/or massive and crispy wings. The new spot also has a burger on the menu specific to that location. I still need to stop in for the full experience, but I was able to stop in last week and grab a scrumptious pie. Check it : Jimmy Buffet **add sausage** ~ mozzarella and provolone blend * basil * house red sauce **nice, crisp edges on the crust and a good chew in the middle. I love the sausage crumbles here so I had to add them to this take on the Margherita. Margheritaville-- get it?**

Yelp
Bricksworth had great service. The bartender was also our waiter and he made sure we didn't want for anything, between food and drinks. We started off with the Parmesan Garlic Fries with truffle aioli and they were pretty good. My husband had the Aloha Friday pizza and he liked the kick of heat; I chose the Box Logo minus sausage crumbles and I loved the crispy edges of the pizza and thought the flavor was great (next time I will state I don't want the red sauce topping as I'm all about crisp crust and toppings, so clearly I am not a fan of Detroit style). For dessert we shared the Caramel Crunch Cookie and that was so good that it was gone in a hurry! Why did I deduct one star? Mainly because the interior looked like it was suffering from an identity crisis, with the rough high top tables and chairs between the bar and the booth seating, and the different color pipes on the ceiling. It was just off-putting so if we went again it would be during the warmer months where we could sit out on their nice patio area.

Yelp
Hell yes! Great beer! Great food! Cool ranch Doritos chicken wings, get them, don't ask questions. Staff is rad too!

Yelp
Stopped in last night for a fundraiser, it's a great venue for such event... spacious and open. The beertender was helpful when I asked about the four lowest ABV beers and which would she choose? She steered me to the Thatz Bier kolsch. I didn't eat but a couple friends each ordered wings and kept "mmmmm"ing as they are at how delicious they were. You have enter through the back patio, but there is great signage so it's easy to get inside. The seating is all stools @ the bar or high top tables, there are a few booths. I have never sat out on the patio but as w the tap room, it is spacious. Bricksworth is a nice edition to North Loop, across from Modist an within walking distance to the other three breweries and cindery. Thanks Bricksworth for the consistent tasty beer and friendly service. Ond day I will bring my appetite and pair my beer w a delicious pizza, cheers!

Yelp
This place quickly moved to the top of my fav places in Minneapolis. I had never had Detroit style pizza, and I actually prefer thin crust 99% of the time, with this being the exception! The crunchy cheese goes up the sides and the crust is light and airy- plus whatever toppings. I have had the cheese bread twice, and various pizza's all amazing. Last night my friend ordered pineapple and jalapeno pizza- 10/10. I did try the cool ranch Doritos, they were SO salty for my taste but I am glad I tried them. It's a fairly busy, loud atmosphere and I can't wait for the patio to open!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! Wings and cheese bread were amazing. Staff was awesome to work with and seemed like a fun ambiance. Will return!

Yelp
So pumped this location opened in the Loop as I love the Burnsville location, but that drive I could live without. They took over where Darbys is, so it's a bit tucked away, (you have to go down an alley and cut to the left down a patio to get there) but it's prime real estate for happy hour, weekend shenanigans, or pre gaming before a Twins game. It's across from Modist Brewing and Graze. They serve Detroit style pizza, on this occasion I did their Happiest Meal (Big Mac style) and damn was it sooooo good! Price is super fair ($14?) and you can get two different sizes. I had the larger size. I also tried their cool ranch Doritos wings which were the perfect size wing from a meat standpoint, cooked well, and the flavor was spot on. I've tried several flavors at the Burnsville location and have never been disappointed. The hazies are stellar and what I'd say they are known for beer wise but I went with their Czech pils and dark lager which both hit the spot. Parking wise you can grab a spot on the street with the parking app, or there's a small lot with a few spaces. Otherwise the garage beside them tends to be fair. It always says $10 which I believe is the weekend rate? But I've used the lot a few times and it's been $5. Overall, staff is amazing, pizza delicious, and the beers are what you want in your life. Love this place and will be my new regular spot.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
I wish I knew about their huge patio in north loop earlier! I liked the dill pickle dry rub wings (6 for $12), but I loved the cool ranch Doritos wings even more! Will be back to try the other flavors
google avatar

Renjie D.

Yelp
Food portions are big and price is reasonable. Chill ambiance. The service is quite fast. Minnesota is a non-tipped wage state so tips are optional.
google avatar

Danny O.

Yelp
If you are in the area. You won't be disappointed. Great beer and the pizza didn't have the right to be that good. May have been one of the best I've had in a while: Detroit style and did it perfect. Atmosphere is great inside and out. Owen the manager will get you taken care of!
google avatar

Ben E.

Yelp
Good service, great beer-especially hazy IPAs. Love the sister brewery Blackstack so thought I would try Bricksworth.
google avatar

Jasmin M.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and great patio right in North Loop. Just went for the wings and had buffalo, dill pickle dry rub, and cool ranch dorito. Our favorite was the cool ranch dorito wings, good flavor and crisp! Next favorite was the dill pickle dry rub wings. They also have a dill ranch which was great with the dill wings. The buffalo wings were fine. Not our favorite of the bunch or in the cities but still a quality wing.
google avatar

Ahnika J.

Yelp
Great pizza, great beer, great location! Perfect patio hang for before or after a Twins game.
google avatar

Janae J.

Yelp
Yum!!! First time here and enjoyed the pizza! A little expensive for the sizes but the toppings and fun flavor combos made up for it! Cool there's a modern jukebox of sorts too so you can pick out the music playing. Cool hang out place

Brooke R.

Yelp
The food and service here is amazing. The TellTale Moozadel is sooooo good and the cool ranch dorito wings are phenomenal. Will definetly be back with some friends
google avatar

Eva D.

Yelp
We tried the smashed cheeseburger and a large pizza made with cauliflower crust. The burger had a brioche bun, and two thin Pattie's. Perfectly seasoned with a thousand island special sauce. It was delicious! The pizza looked odd, but don't let it deceive you. The cauliflower crust is amazing...crunchy and great texture. Pizza sauce and cheese served on top of it. We tried the pizza with crumbled sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. One of the best pizzas I've had in a long while. Not a beer drinker but if you are, there are many options. YUM, YUM, YUM!
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
First time at this location and it was fantastic! From the large, sunny patio to the friendly service to the yummy salads, fries and pizza! The cocktails were good too. We'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Caitlyn W.

Yelp
Service was pretty good, they were definitely understaffed for the day. Food was okay, the wings weren't anything super special but still pretty good. Portions are very big, and there's a lot of space for a lively crowd.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
Fun place to grab beer and cocktails in the north loop! The pizza is detroit style, so a thicker crust and loaded with toppings. I also tried the truffle parm fries. Both items were okay, but not necessarily good enough to warrant a return trip. I didn't try the beer (not a big beer person) but the cocktails were pretty good and nice to have especially if there are people in your group who don't really like beer!
google avatar

Destiny H.

Yelp
Few weeks ago I got to check out this new Minneapolis location that is in the north loop area. The building has a lot of character and the service was great! I tried the cool ranch Doritos wings and dill pickle wings...I suggest both but loved the dill wings the best! I shared the happiest meal pizza with a friend and I highly recommend!
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
Large industrial space just off the train tracks in a kind of tucked away spot in the North Loop. Quick and friendly service, good house brew selection and guest taps as well. Pizzas are good, but inconsistently baked. Some slices of the pizza we got were perfect and others were quite underbaked...oven hot spots causing issues even with just one pizza. Got the "happiest meal" and enjoyed it. Have had variations on this idea from other spots, but the sesame seeds after the pizza comes out was a nice touch. Likely a great space for the afterwork crowd, and certainly a spot for families with kids before a Twins game.
google avatar

Derek F.

Yelp
Came to Bricksworth on a Sunday afternoon. Really nice patio facing downtown and the train tracks. I got the dry rub wings bone in and they were amazing. The server (Sam) was really attentive and recommended the wings. Also really good beer selection on tap. I hear they have awesome pizza too!

Toby H.

Yelp
10/10 pizza Probly 8.5/10 beer delicious and super fun place to be right next to the twins stadium
google avatar

Yelp
Great Beers and great wings. Go with the cool ranch, sooo good. Service was tremendous. Too bad they didn't have grawlers would have taken some home.

Robert C.

Yelp
This place is hell on earth . . . . the pizza is pure corrugated cardboard . . . the music is nails on the chalkboard awful . . . the owners, servers and bartenders are rude . . . . they don't care about their neighbor or their customers . . . . a disgrace to the restaurant industry . . . . their product is a pure excrement. . . . don't fall for it . . . go to any other place in the north loop . . . . anywhere but this place . . . they should be shut down on so many levels . . ambiance "F" Food "F-" Service non existent F- . . . an absolute disgrace . . . zero stars . . . the review made me post one star to post this review . . . again a disgrace
google avatar

Erika D.

Yelp
Sure hope this place stays in business! I haven't had their beer and usually don't even get the pizza. But the pizza that I have had has been great. The boneless wings are ah-mazing! Not super breaded like most boneless wings. I almost always get bone-in because "boneless" wings are more like glorified chicken nuggets. Not here. The dill rub is sooo good. I also get a garden salad that is fresh & great. The dressing is perfect. Check this place out when in the north loop or before/after a Twins game!
google avatar

Irfaan A.

Yelp
Meh. Ya boy loves Detroit style pizza. This was whatever. It's a decent space; big ass bar basically. Great service. But food was average. Got lemon pepper and honey sriracha wings. Lemon pepper were solid; honey sriracha had exactly 0 sriracha flavor. Truffle fries were hella mediocre. Then got 3 mains: cheesy bread, burger pizza, and elote pizza. The cheesy bread was good, but again nothing incredible. The burger pizza tasted like a burger; little to no pizza flavor. The elote pizza had almost no flavor whatsoever, plain ass pie. So all in all pretty mediocre food. If you want Detroit style pizza, I'd highly recommend Wrecktangle pizza over this. Or hell, go to Jets.
google avatar

Shelby H.

Yelp
I have been to the Bricksworth Beer Co. In Burnsville, Minnesota and I thought the pizza and beer there were amazing so I had similar expectations when they announced they were opening a new location in North Loop, Minneapolis. We tried their happiest meal and the telltale and the Jimmy Buffett Detroit style pizza, dill pickle dry rub boneless wings, Parmesan fries, and the smash burger. Everything was so good and flavorful. My only qualm is the ranch is a little weird tasting but it's still good but it's just not my favorite. There is a lot of street parking near this establishment and rent parking. I live in the area and I think the majority of their business comes from people that live in the area that can just walk there. It has a great ambiance, it's usually pretty crowded, but you should have no issue finding a table or if not, it shouldn't be a long way. Overall all the food came out really well. It was so tasty, good and honestly, this is a perfect place to go to before you go to a concert. I highly recommend this spot.

Steve G.

Yelp
Great place for delicious and unique bar food! Terrific spot for groups of 10-30 as well, with a sensational brew list locally crafted. Super pizzas and out of this world fries. The staff is really nice and very knowledgeable. I love it here!!!
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
I thought the smash burger was incredible. The service was definitely diligent and timely. The ambiance was subpar.

Asia R.

Yelp
Had such a fun time at bricksworth! We just so happened went in on trivia night (Tuesday) and had amazing burgers. The service was great too, thank you Mikey!
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Woefully understaffed and ill prepared for home opener. Overwhelmed bartender was not helpful with beer selection and dismissive. One mediocre beer with friends and done. I will not be visiting or recommending for Twins games pre and post game.
google avatar

Rakim M.

Yelp
This place is a gem! We had the Dorito cool ranch dry rub wings and they were awesome! The wings are great size and come 8-10 per order. We also had the "happiest meal" pizza. I wasn't the biggest fan but everyone else loved it. Definitely recommend!

Mike T.

Yelp
Incredible service on the patio on a sunny day. Best dry rub wings in the city. Order the red locks, enjoy the vibe.

Tracy R.

Yelp
Darby's menu was better, they used to play music, Darby's always welcomed Dog rescue events, was much friendlier and food was better before it became Bricksworth. Not worth it.
