Bridgetown Roti, a vibrant East Hollywood eatery, serves up indulgent Trinidadian and Bajan comfort food like spiced roti wraps and mouthwatering patties, perfect for a casual bite or a laid-back meal.
"If you’ve driven around LACC’s East Hollywood campus, you know the area has a lot of fast-casual spots designed to feed the hordes of college students and medical workers in the area. Consider Bridgetown Roti queen of them all. This colorful cafe serves Trinidad and Barbados-inspired dishes like goat roti wraps, coco bread cutters, and fried cod cakes, all of which pop with bold spices and decadent flavors that send you straight to the moon. A few turmeric-colored patties from their hot case are a dream scenario for a quick meal, but Bridgetown’s range of talent is best experienced with a full sit-down spread of curry-laced mac and cheese, fried plantains, and callaloo (braised greens.) Whichever route you choose, load up on the house hot sauces like mango-masala and pineapple-habanero that pair well with everything." - brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins
"One of Los Angeles’s most-celebrated Caribbean restaurants comes from chef Rashida Holmes, whose modern Afro-Caribbean restaurant Bridgetown Roti began its astronomic ascent in Los Angeles as a pop-up in 2020 (it was named an Eater Best New Restaurant in 2021), before relocating to a brightly decorated permanent space in East Hollywood in 2024. Here, regulars file in for crispy-topped macaroni and cheese pie, red pepper goat roti wraps, and inventive patties — the oxtail and peppers and green curry shrimp renditions maybe the best of the bunch. With ample vegan and vegetarian options, including its own spin on Trinidadian doubles, Holmes’ spot has something for every Angeleno. — Nicole Adlman, cities manager" - Mona Holmes, Matthew Kang, Nicole Adlman
"At the permanent home of former pop-up Bridgetown Roti, Rashida Holmes’s macaroni and cheese pie features fusilli noodles and a crispy crust. The dish is noted for its fun texture and the way the salty cheese clings to the pasta." - Eater Staff
"A Los Angeles eatery specializing in Caribbean flavors, particularly its renowned roti." - Rebecca Roland
"While many head to Bridgetown Roti for its eponymous dish, stuffed with curry chicken or red pepper goat, no meal at the East Hollywood restaurant is complete without at least one order of the honey jerk wings. Served as a whole wing, the chicken starts in a jerk brine, infusing the tender meat with salt, a gentle sweetness, and the unmistakable complex flavor of jerk spice. The honey jerk sauce the wings are tossed in draws out those flavors further, finding a balance between a hint of a slight hint of heat playing alongside strong savory notes. Only three come per order, and although each one is generously sized, order a few if sharing." - Eater Staff
