We stopped for a beer and a quick bite before checking into the Porches for a nice overnight getaway. It's definitely cool that there's a brewery now at MASS MoCA, but that's about where the coolness ends. The beer was fine ("yay, another weird craft beer"), the environment was fine (I get it, it's an old factory, but it just wasn't comfortable), and the food, purchased separately from Crisp (pizza and a salad), who maintain a counter in the bar, was passable. The bartender very quickly and disinterestedly explained how it works in terms of ordering food one place, beer another. The Crisp attendant could not have been less interested in the simple act of taking and making our order. Whatever was going on on her phone and laptop was far more interesting. We get it, you're cool. The pizza and salad were acceptable snacks. Maybe we should have tried the BBQ place across the parking lot, who they told us would deliver to the bar (if we talk over and order there). Odd. As to the beer, we got the Cranberry IPA, and not to be that guy, but $7 for a 12 oz of something weird, I dunno. Museum/hip brewery prices, I guess. (And look, I've paid $7+ for a beer tons of times.)
Anyway, I appreciate that they're trying to do something, and it was a beer, so, there's that. But I'll probably just sneak a Harpoon IPA in the car next time, ha.
