Brightside Bakeshop Review - The Nations - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Nobody does pastries in Nashville quite like Brightside Bakeshop. This bakery focuses on gorgeous variations of all the baked goods we love best: cheesecake streusel danishes, three-cheese brioches, oatmeal cream pie croissants, lemon lavender kouign amann, glistening “sunshine” rolls with orange zest—the list goes on. The menu rotates monthly, so you have time to revisit favorites before they disappear to make way for buttery new creations. Brightside has locations in East and the Nations, but we’re partial to the latter with its big sunny wall and cute cafe tables." - Bailey Freeman

Google
Surprise discovery in East Nashville and I am obsessed! They also have a location in West, but I have not been there. Their pastries are delicious and their employees are so great. They do seasonal/monthly special creations that switches up the menu and gives more items to try. Recommend ordering ahead because they sell out quickly. Will continue to shop here!

Google
With the 5.0 star rating and several hundred reviews, I was a little suspicious but had to see if it was worth the hype bc I love to find a new great pastry spot. And this is it! It’s a bit out of the way and their hours are so limited but I finally made it out and made sure to preorder the day before in case anything sold out before I got there. Plenty of preorders prepped by the time the store opened, I think, and plenty of pastries were available around 9? When we arrived. Very small place & the only downside was that there wasn’t anywhere to really sit down and enjoy indoors, on a cool morning like today. All that being said, we tried just about everything on the menu for today and everything was delicious. The everything tart honestly blew me away. The brioches were so soft, melt in your mouth, as they should be. fun and interesting flavors also. Croissants were great, puff pastry was awesome. Didn’t LOVE the caramel pecan monkey bread though and was really looking forward to it- was quite dense compared to everything else which was light, airy, fluffy. Definitely one of my top Nashville pastry spots. And there aren’t that many

Google
I do a preorder every week and set my watch to remind me at 3pm on Friday for a Saturday pickup. It's not really a place where you eat the pastries.

Google
The best pastries in Nashville. My family and I stop here every time we visit. You can’t go wrong with any choice you make. I suggest you order ahead and pick up to ensure you get what you want ❤️

Google
The two ladies who greeted and served us were SO welcoming and engaging. All smiles. So perfectly represented the Brightside vibe and brand, ushering in the first half of the positive Customer Experience. The second half was eating our wonderful bakery items! My wife got her standard go-to Croissant. Absolutely wonderful, as always she said. I got the Key Lime Pie Croissant Tart. If I’d just sat there and looked at it I’d have gotten my money’s worth, but to taste that flavorful treat… Oh. My. Goodness! Unbelievable! Absolute heaven. Worth every single calorie. Brightside sets and extremely high bar in every way. Every experience has been a wonderful one!

Google
Absolutely Delicious and a great assortment. We filled up a box of pastries, selected from the glass case. Everything looked wonderful and tasted even better. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll, and my husband devoured the cheesecake danish. The service was friendly and fast. We’ll be back for sure. This place needs to be visited by all.

Google
Very small but very good. Takeout only, can order ahead of time for store pickup. Very nice quality, the chocolate croissant was especially delicious.

David Rinker

Google
Crazy good, especially considering the diminutive size of the space. Pastries have been universally top notch. Croissants rival those of any bakery...ANYwhere! And their ordering system is very slick. You have to order early on the proceeding day, but you're guaranteed to then get what you want when you pull up onto small parking lot. It's efficient and saves on disappointment too. Feel silly for only just discovering them

Yelp
So good, we went twice! The 1st time, we walked in. Then a few days later, we pre-ordered for the drive back to Orlando. The pre-order went very smoothly. Our box of yumminess was waiting when I walked in.

Sheri B.

Yelp
Every pastry or dessert we've had from here is delicious. The service is always pleasant. There is no seating, more of a walk in and grab to go kinda place. I think that's what I love about it, you know you're going to walk in, pick out a few items from that day's offerings, and leave within five minutes, AND love what you get.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot never disappoints! I've tried the everything croissant tart and cinnaroll and both are delightful. Come early because they run out quickly!

Yelp
1. Tiramisu Maritozzi (seasonal): 10/10 2. chocolate chip cookie: 10/10 3. berry oat streusel danish (seasonal): 10/10 4. chocolate croissant: 8.5/10 ratings above are in order of preference! i posted this on their other location but i actually bought these at this location lol, i honestly prefer this location. the staff here was so nice! i really liked them very helpful gave us an extra box and a bunch of parchment paper we request, good job! again super recommend preordering on their website, they sell out of things very quickly here! no bathroom and cute tables outside. parking lot in front but can fill up because other businesses in this plaza, since no tables though you aren't sitting here so you can just leave car to pick up.
google avatar

Yelp
These were the most beautiful, tasty baked goods! Had a trip to Nashville and treated myself every morning.
google avatar

Bailee Mae D.

Yelp
Cute little bakery! I have a long-time love of croissants and always get excited when I see unique flavor variations. So Brightside definitely put me on the bright side this morning Ultimately I decided to try something special and unique the Sunshine Roll while also sticking with a classic croissant. I was really happy with both! There wasn't seating available inside, only a few 2-seater tables outside. But we enjoyed those since the weather was really nice.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
YUM. Chocolate croissant was the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Micro-shop without seating -- but might I suggest a quick drive to enjoy your pastries at Shelby Park. And to top it all off, staff is so friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
Such a good little bakery, a little hidden.. so keep your eyes peeled. Very minimalist space but your tastebuds will heighten enough senses for all of you. Try the sunshine roll & the sausage and cheese muffin.
google avatar

Loraena J.

Yelp
I would say if I could have had my muffin warmed up I could see myself coming back for more. The items were all cold and the place was not able to warm it up c bc they ddint have any equipment. So im guessing most ppl pick up & take home and warm it up themselves? Either way, was just disappointed to eat the sausage and cheese brioche looking muffin cold. My cousins said when warm its pretty amazing. Cashier was very nice.

Yelp
SOMEONE DISCOVER THIS ANGEL VOICE!! (keep reading)I'm in town visiting family. I went for a morning walk and found Brightside Bakeshop. What a quaint little shop. I only grabbed a coffee, but boy did it hit the spot! Dark rich flavors that really came forward with a hint of sugar and cream. There were 3 delightful folks behind the counter: Chatty and friendly but focused on service. One of them began to sing along with the music playing in the background. Her voice was angelic! Clear, lovely, not over powering. She blended perfectly with the tunes overhead. It really drew me in. So much so that I hung around the coffee station longer than necessary just to enjoy her gift. If I'm in town again-I'm definitely stopping by.
google avatar

Yelp
Made a quick pit stop on the way back home. A came late morning and many things were sold out, according to the employee, but still plentiful options of savory and sweet, pastries and cookies. I went with the good ole chocolate chip cookie. It was $3 for a hefty size cookie. It was very tasty, had hints of coffee if my taste buds were working correctly. I also got an everything bagel seasoned pastry of some sort. I forget the name. It was around $6. Both were incredibly tasty and the service was great. This place is meant for grab-n-go, not to sit down from what I saw. Would def recommend!
google avatar

Parker S.

Yelp
This place is getting fantastic reviews for a reason! I walked in and was greeted with a plethora of baked goods to look at and drool over. I ordered and was out of the shop in about 1 minute total. My two choices were the - Oatmeal cream pie croissant - Cinnaroll bread pudding The Oatmeal cream pie was surprisingly like the real thing. They couldn't of nailed this more so props to that. The Cinnaroll bread pudding was just delicious bread pudding with a kick of cinnamon and icing in what looks like a muffin. Truly a delicious treat to start the morning. I will definitely be swinging by here again to get more baked treats!
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast. It's very small-only so don't plan on sitting down and spending time there (which I mistakenly had planned on). They also don't really have coffee- just filtered hot coffee and three canned options. I just gut the canned oat milk nitro coffee and a croissant- croissants are my favorite food, and this croissant was perfection the oat milk nitro coffee was pretty good too. Great service as well- very speedy!
google avatar

Peyton F.

Yelp
They sell out of a lot of things fast in the mornings because they're so good! Everyone there is nice and the baked goods taste fantastic!
google avatar

Seelia Y.

Yelp
We ordered the chocolate almond croissant and was quite disappointed. The croissant was soggy, lacked almond paste inside, and the chocolate drizzle tasted like Hershey syrup. Perhaps we ordered the wrong item, but this croissant was not worth the stop. The staff was however very friendly.
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Got a TON of pastries from here, including various croissants, brioches, and cookies. My favorite was probably the 3-cheese brioche (I tried the sausage and cheese on too but the sausage was dry and didn't add much flavor) and the everything croissant. All the sweet ones were a bit too sweet for me, especially the cookies. Interesting fall flavors though. Croissants weren't flaky which was disappointing, and the chocolate croissant just had chocolate drizzle and not chocolate inside? What. Or if it had chocolate inside, it was very, very little. Ordered online for pickup the next morning, pastries are on the expensive side.

Brian P.

Yelp
My wife and I were in town for a family wedding. We were staying at airbnb down the street and stumbled upon this cute little shop in East Nashville. Staff-members were very polite and our pastries were delish! We tried the churro croissant and a sausage & cheddar brioche . Yum!
google avatar

Allie B.

Yelp
Excellent bakery! The croissants are perfectly baked, friendly staff and a great location!
google avatar

C S.

Yelp
This tiny little shop had the most delicious cinnamon rolls (with extra creamy delicious frosting inside!), danishes and croissants! You must try them! Or be sad.
google avatar

Kendall R.

Yelp
I've been following Brightside on Instagram for months and I finally got a chance to go last week. I recommend ordering online if there's something you really have your eye on, because things go fast here. We came around 10am on a Thursday and they were already over half cleared out. I got a ham brioche bun and it looked good, but It tasted even better! I didn't love the chives, but otherwise it really was an excellent pastry. I will definitely come back and try some other things!
google avatar

T-rex M.

Yelp
I heard that this spot was tops for a croissant in town, so popped over when my regular spot fell through, and boy was I glad I did! They have a standard sweet and savory offering, and a specials offering. I went with the shopkeep's recommendation of their special upside down pineapple treat and I was expecting to find it overly sweet and ya know, fine, but from bite one I was so delighted. The softness and the crunchy bits of the pastry were a delight, the sweet of the pineapple was balanced harmoniously with a cream cheese in the middle. Nothing about it was too much, every bite was perfection. Highly recommend.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Cute little shop in East Nashville. Staff-members were polite and my pastries were delish! I tried the churro croissant and berry oat-rolled danish.
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
While vacationing in Nashville, I scored finding a small batch local bakery that chose my favorite ingredients, cinnamon and sugar as their signature ingredients! I highly recommend ordering online in advance to ensure you get the baked goodies you want as this place is tremendously popular. As I come from a baking background, it is very challenging to wow me and I was very impressed. Fresh and Tasty. When back in Nashville, you better believe I will visit Brightside Bakeshop again.
google avatar

Christina B.

Yelp
My FAVORITE bakery in town! I wish they were opened past noon, but it's worth it to get up and get out for pastries this perfect. The interior is tiny, but the service is friendly and there is good variety in the pastry case. The sausage and cheese brioche is savory and delicious, I also tried the cinnamon brioche as a sweet and creamy alternative. 100/10
google avatar

Alexa B.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend during a trip to Nashville and these baked goods were by far the best I've had here in the states! Literally the croissants and dough in general they make is absolutely out of this world ! I think the prices are actually very good as well for the quality. As someone who has traveled and tried baked goods from all over Europe these are easily just as good! I definitely would come here and get a few things like I did to have a bit of sweet and a bit of savory. The staff was also very nice and helpful as I asked them about a lot of the items
google avatar

Marie T.

Yelp
At first, I thought "this bakery has a straight 5 stars... I'm definitely trying this place out"... And let me tell you... one bite into the almond croissant and it brought me back to Sicily, Italy and the pistachio croissant that Sicily is so well known for! Pure bliss!!! They have certain pastries that are only made in the weekends... And it looked like their phone/online orders are going well so don't wait too long in the day so you have a choice...
google avatar

Eliza R.

Yelp
This bakery deserves 11 stars because it goes to 11! I stopped here after an hour of cardio this morning thinking I would "just get one little treat." Yeah, right. Instead, I got talked into the churro croissant and a sausage and cheddar brioche. Both were out of this world but I feel like I have a brick in my stomach at present. I'll be eating chicken broth for dinner! I'm more a savory girl, but I definitely favored the churro croissant. It's just so decadent, buttery and not overly sweet except for the sugar dusted on top. I wanted another one. The brioche was also decadent and delicious, full of cheddar cheese and sausage bits, but I still wanted more churro croissant even as my stomach expanded four inches. Go get your a croissant here, savory or sweet, or be gluttonous like me and get both. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything, but that churro croissant is definitely worth the hype. Parking is plentiful and service was spot on - both sweet gals behind the counter made ordering fun. They also both wore masks, as did I.
google avatar

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
We went there once and tried their cream cheese pastry and cinnamon roll (muffin shaped?), and both were so tasty! They were fresh and had really good flavors. The pasty was flaky and buttery and the cream cheese had the best combination of sweet and tangy. The cinnamon roll was fluffy and aromatic. We will come back earlier to get more selections since everything tends to sell out fast!
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service and incredible homemade pastries. The selection is amazing and you will be able to find something for everyone. Sweet & Savory Croissants, Brioche Rolls, Danish, and seasonal options. The staff is so friendly and takes the time to describe each item...you can see how much talent and love goes into the entire process. I love the cute retro Bandannas and T-shirts. Definitely a must try for out of town guests!
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
This is only the second bakery I have visited where I have been impressed with the service, quality and where every item is delicious! The other one is in Portland Maine, so unless you're going on a trip this should be your only bakery you visit in the city. The absolute best gigantic chocolate chip cookies and the apple puff tart is a flaky buttery sin. I hate frittatas, but their take on the classic is to die for. This is a Nashville - must!
google avatar

Adrian C.

Yelp
We want to try their Almond Croissants, sadly they only have it on Saturday. We tried some other, they are ok, still a little doughy for pastry. I will said this is a great bakery for Nashville so far. Yet do I want to spend my calories there? Properly No.
google avatar

Kelley B.

Yelp
Brightside is amazing! These are the best pastries I've had since I've had since I've been in Italy. Flakey, light, and perfect. And I love that they have a rotating menu; keep some change some. It's perfect. I recommend this shop to everyone! Make sure you order the day before. The items are posted at 3pm the day before for ordering and you will most likely not get anything if you just walk up to the window. The staff has always been so nice too. Great place all around.
google avatar

Nubia B.

Yelp
Brightside Bakeshop will be your happiest place EVER! Brightside Bakeshop has perfected the pastry game and the minute you walk in you can smell the perfection. The second your teeth sink into the flakey pastry you will taste perfection! I swear her secret ingredient must me LOVE & PERFECTION. I came in on a Sunday around 9:30ish and the churro croissant and the croissant were all ready SOLD OUT! But my buttery gluten heart didn't dispair for long because there was so many delicious choices to choose from. Both locations have great parking. Due to COVID they have a curbside/online system that I personally appreciate. Look out for their seasonal pastries that emphasis on a local seasonal fruits. They also have their year round sweet and savory staples. Brightside Bakery WILL.NOT.DISSAPPOINT!
google avatar

Pete B.

Yelp
It is no surprise to me that this bake shop is 5 stars. The pastries are so fresh and high quality. This is definitely a hidden gem in Nashville. Also there staff has a friendliness the eclipses mere customer service. It is more like an oasis of kindness and human to human care which makes them one of the warmest and enjoyable shops to enter. They are a genuine blessing to the neighborhood they reside in.
google avatar

Katherine K.

Yelp
The worst part about eating these pastries is choosing which one you will pick for your last bite. The flavors are just so good, savory and sweet alike. Our $25 breakfast here was tastier than our $125 dinner last night (at one of our favorite restaurants). I would pay membership fees to eat at Brightside.
google avatar

DjJazzy D.

Yelp
Best bakery in Nashville. I've never had pastry so perfect.
google avatar

Erin J.

Yelp
If you're on a diet of any sorts, save Brightside for your cheat day, save your calories, whatever. It'll be worth it. They're delicious. Their pastries are light and fluffy and the croissants are out of this world. My personal favorite is the chocolate almond croissant (only available on weekends) and the churro croissant, which is about as big as your head. The savory pastries are delicious too. Just try them all. You simply can't go wrong. Preorder the day before to ensure what you want is available! And don't forget to tip your baker!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Any morning with Brightside Bakeshop is a good morning! I mostly patronize the West location, but occasionally when the online selection is broader here (my favorites are the cinnaroll, sticky pecan roll, sausage and cheddar brioche, and the seasonal s'mores brioche) I will come East. Both are great and friendly. I love the selection of both savory and sweet pastries, none of which skimp on the good stuff: for example, there is a lot of sausage and cheese in the savory brioche, and the cinnaroll has a generous dollop of cream cheese frosting.
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
I'm speechless. After eyeing up BB for over a year, I decided to try them out and support local during these odd times. And who doesn't love sweets for breakfast? (Not to mention they also have a savory selection). I ordered 3 items: cinnaroll, caramel pecan sticky buns, and a double chocolate roll. With tip and tax it came to about $17. So it adds up, but I believe the quality reflects the pricing. They are a little hard to spot, but can be found in the little shop section at porter and Eastland. They are the middle location that sticks out into the free parking lot. I took one bite into the cinnaroll and I was immersed in decadent creamy flavors and a rich yet not too sweet roll. Soft yet not too soft. Everything had the right combination. Definitely my favorite cinnaroll in all of Nashville! I'm happy I finally tried them out and I will definitely be back even if my waistline prefers me not to!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Delicious. Tiny place you order and take out. The pastries are absolutely fantastic. Perfect if you are from out of town and want something light to have at the rental for breakfast. We will absolutely come back on another trip. Ladies working were very nice and efficient.
google avatar

Caroline G.

Yelp
This place absolutely lives up to the hype. Everything absolutely slaps. Make sure you get there early!! Or call ahead when they open. Keep up the great work y'all.
google avatar

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
Five stars for the most adorable local bakery. I saw it was super popular so I went ahead and placed a pre order for pick up while I was on the plane. We got there 20 minutes after opening and were greeted by a very friendly woman who found us our box and had me very tempted to order a few more things once I saw they weren't yet sold out for the day. The everything bagel croissant with the seasoned cream cheese middle was the best croissant I've ever had in my life and I've had quite a few good ones. It was so so good- such a great flavor combo, and the texture was spot on. My husband really enjoyed the sausage and cheese brioche which was also super soft and tasty. Lastly, we shared a giant chocolate chip cookie and that was also one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I wish I lived here so I could come back and order one of everything- no joke, it is that good. So if you're ever in Nashville, I highly recommend a detour to this bakery.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Brightside Bakeshop is one of the absolute best and most creative bakeries I have found in Nashville. I wish there was a higher rating than 5 stars! The first time I went in I didn't know much about them. I saw a few of their beautiful pastries on Instagram and that alone sold me on giving it a try. Unfortunately for me is I hadn't been paying enough attention to realize that they sell out, and QUICKLY! By the time I rolled in around 10:30 am there was only about half the selection left. I went with a savory ham and cheese croissant, the berries & cream (seasonal, no longer available at least this year), and the cinnamon bread pudding. To say I was blown away is an understatement, and to prove that I'll list the others I've tried: chocolate croissant, almond croissant, sunshine roll, southern croissant (another seasonal with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese), cinnamon roll....seriously the list goes on and on. On top of that, the staff is amazing. The bakeshop gets busy early on the weekends, but they do not rush you and will take the extra time to explain the offerings or make recommendations. I 100% recommend everyone checks out Brightside, go in early, and get yourself at least one savory and one sweet. You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
I really enjoy it here. They sell out fast, so order ahead or get there early. Their pastries are 'croissant-based' for lack of a better term... meaning they are all flaky. They don't have any 'bread-like' pastries that have a crumble texture. They have both savory and sweet baked goods.
google avatar

Leah L.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I had the Strawberry Lemon Cheese danish perfect. My son ate the Ham & Cheese Brioche and loved it. I also got the Cinnamon Roll, Sunshine Roll and Double Chocolate Roll although I haven't eaten them yet, I'm sure they are just as delicious as the others are. The girl at the counter who I assume was the owner is great. If ever in Nashville find this place and enjoy.
google avatar

Peyton W.

Yelp
Small bakery that has fresh goodies every morning. The sweets and croissant are delicious and you can pick up a cup on coffee inside.
google avatar

Walter C.

Yelp
A cornerstone in the growing Nashville pastry and bakeshop scene. Every item is outstanding. They sell out every day so go early and get a full box of goodies.
google avatar

Yvonne J.

Yelp
We love this shop! This adorable friendly couple puts out such tasty breakfast pastries, both sweet and savory. I've never had anything bad here! They're only open Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from morning to noon or until sold out so get here early!
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
Their Almond Croissants are the best I've ever had. There's a reason you have to pre-order them on Friday. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu, which is constantly rotating with new things to try. Their staff is always super friendly and nice. Probably the best pastries in Tennessee. 6 stars.
