I was passing through Phoenicia with family decided to stop in to give this place a try. I’m glad we did. The food was phenomenal and the place has a charm that could only be had from an old building. Iced latte and the hot coffee were phenomenal a very rich bold body to it. Service was amazing with And caught a conversation with Keri and she is amazing, took care of our table and most importantly, she is a people person. I have visited places where you get served and the wait staff is just cold. Would recomment this place eyes closed. Come for the oven baked pizza hang a bit and sit where baseball legend Babe Ruth hanged out.

This should be a destination target for foodies in the Catskills, so much more than just a convenient stop when hungry. The on site bakery rules!! Try the banana cake!

Nahhhh The service was lacking. My friend never received his order, and our server showed no concern or apology about it. We waited patiently for over 35 minutes, only to realize his food was never coming. At minimum, the restaurant should have offered him a complimentary meal to take home after that kind of wait and mistake. We ended up sharing our food, but come on—that’s not acceptable service. And on top of it, she asked if we wanted coffee without even offering it on the house!!!. The coffee wasn’t even fresh! Plus, of course, the tip was automatically included since it was weekend service. We were just hungry and got to eat but nahh no way coming back here ….

I stumbled upon this restaurant unexpectedly, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. I ordered the lamb burger and the clam linguine. The burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and served on a perfectly toasted bun, while the linguine came in a generous portion with clams that were fresh and flavorful. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from, which makes it even more appealing. We had a wonderful time here—truly a hidden gem in the village.

One of the classic new your restaurant with fantastic food. I have eaten there 3- times and everything I had from breakfast to dinner was fantastic. Portions are so large that each meal can serve two (depending on your appetite). Servers are to the point, fast and friendly. Only flaw I can see is a parking on a busy day can get tricky although they have some parking on the side of the restaurant, but if that is full you will have to find spot on the street. Highly recommend it!

Do not go here if you are gluten free. The restaurant advertises that it has gluten free pizza and wraps/buns. However when asked about cross contamination the cook making the pizza would not accommodate a safe way to prepare my daughter’s gf pies. Simply would not. Then when trying to alternate to a gf wrap the chicken and gf wraps are prepared on the same grill as the other gluten wraps and buns. When the cook was asked to prepare their food in an alternate way he said no. My daughters left without eating any dinner because we didn’t trust the preparation of the gluten free food. The only empathetic person to both my daughter’s celiac disease was the lovely waitress. She was extremely patient, understanding and accommodating to try every effort for my daughters to be able to safely eat at Brios. However, due to the lack of trust in those preparing the food and the restaurants lack of safe gluten free protocol in place we left hungry, extremely disappointed and frustrated. There is no point in having gluten free food if people who are gluten free cannot safely eat it. I urge the owner and cooks making the food, to try to imagine what if would be like if they were in my daughters situation. Visiting a place we have never been, doing our research to find a place that has gluten free food, driving a distance to eat here just because there are gluten free options. To then not have those in control willing to accommodate two children to safely eat. Please take a page out of the waitress’s book. Show empathy and understanding. Stop. Care enough to think of an alternative way. There always is one.

Went to have pizza with friends before catching my bus , and I can literally say that I have a very good pizza , their service is top notch and the atmosphere is nice

My wife and I came here for dinner while staying at the Urban Cowboy Lodge. The place is pretty simple. More pizzeria than cafe/restaurant but food was great, great beer and alcohol selection. Several vegan or vegetarian options. The personal pizza was much bigger than I expected. I'm so used to joke portions these days that it's a pleasant surprise to get a good amount of food on your table. Definitely coming back if I'm in the area again.

Anytime we are upstate for skiing, hiking, or driving through we make it a prerogative to stop by. The staff is always warm and welcoming. The pizza is our favorite. The crust is gracefully placed with sesame seed all around giving a nutty finish to each bite.

Sometimes my non-Yelp husband's radar strikes gold. And sometimes... it doesn't. Enter Brio in Phoenicia, NY- less than 20 mins from Woodstock. To be fair, Brio tries. Hard. They're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which on paper feels like a win-win. Breakfast covers the classics plus a few extras. Lunch has the usual wraps and salads. Dinner is big with chicken Alfredo, a lamb burger, pork chops, etc. OPTIONS, people. A lot of them. Unfortunately, the end result is a different story. Hubs went all in with the Lumberjack breakfast. Bold move. Two square sausages that were hockey pucks, French toast that was both too eggy and soggy. His scrambled eggs, were the highlight with the Gouda he chose. I played it safe. Very safe. Plain toasted bagel with butter and scrambled eggs. Honestly? My breakfast was solid. The bagel was perfectly toasted, lightly buttered and the eggs were good. Service started off a bit forced. But once she warmed up, it was ok. Brio wants to be everything to everyone. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn't. Order wisely.

Made a quick stop in before reaching our destination and there's not much going on in this town. The interior needs some TLC but the grilled Reuben was outstanding. We've heard the pizza is really great here too, next time we'll definitely try it. The dessert case is worth a look too!

We came in from Saugerties for lunch and Brio's hit the spot! It's a homey restaurant that was busy with local people and those going skiing in the area and was great! We ordered the portabella mushroom calzone and the Italian sandwich and it was great! The calzone was awesome and sizeable but didn't sit heavy in the stomach and every bite was delicious! I definitely recommend anything from their wood oven like the calzones or pizza! The sandwich was good, a bit heavy on the mayo but was a decent choice! The service was quick as well. Theres a bar adjacent connected by a hallway which was fun. Cool place to check out if you're looking for a meal and it's nice walking the rest of the short strip afterwards!

If you are in downtown Phoenicia, this is the place. They have a wood burning oven right at the entrance. The pizza is good, staff generally is good as well.

Yea, I don't know how anyone could think this place is actually good. Considering it's the only place within 5 miles of Woodland Valley campgrounds they kind of have a monopoly in the area of being the only food joint not 30 miles away. This place is massive and it seemed like it was sharing space with the adjoining "Mexican" restaurant (Almo Cantina) which they likely own as well. I'd call this place a pizza restaurant with an identity crisis. The menu is insanely long and as thick as an encyclopedia. There is no way they can possibly make all those several menu pages of options "fresh". I sat at what seemed like a diner style (bar) table with standing chair/stools and ordered to eat there rather than a large table. The staff was super chill but dang that table I sat at was filthy! You could see all the dirt and grime around the cash register like it's never been cleaned around it in days; maybe even weeks. Gross I know! I ordered a simple personal sized pizza and it wasn't bad but certainly not worth what I paid but to my previous point...this place is the only joint in the immediate area so not only can they serve you subpar food but they can charge you a lot and not care about the cleanliness of their business. Guess since I was roughing it in the woods nearby camping that even if a small roach fell in my food it would be no different than a bug in my burger that I grilled at camp. Full transparency, I saw no bugs but the place was kept so filthy I can't imagine there are no bugs making this place their happy home. Next time I'm in the area I just might hit the Woodstock Brewery further down the road for a better, cleaner, experience and a fresh brew.

I like Brios for what it offers. locals love the place. Good food and good chatter. The only thing I am not a fan of is their pizza. Mike runs a tight ship. I have never left the place not feeling full. Home made soups and desserts are hard to beat.

I grew up in Big Indian, NY, so the town of Phoenicia was a common visiting ground for family and friends. Recent years has seen a larger influx of people to visit as tourists who don't understand the significance and meaning Phoenicia holds to me (much to my chagrin). Brios IS the best restaurant for miles around and has some of the most unique and creative food options in the area. I visit nowadays for the nostalgia aspect alone of sitting down with friends and enjoying fantastic pies crafted from their old traditional pizza brick oven. It is a MUST visit.

My fiancé and I came here to watch a hockey game since we are from out of town. The bar tender, Ed, was attentive and he seemed to know every patrons order before they even said it. He was definitely on top of things and it added to the nice close-knit vibe. We felt very welcome. The locals are super friendly here. The wings are amazing. Decent selection of local IPAs which I'm usually not a fan of beer at all but they had some really good ones that I enjoyed sipping! I also had a personal pizza and it was great.

We ended up at Brio's after a power outage put the kibosh on our original dinner plans. We could have done worse! Is it glamorous? Is it hip? Not at all. But with the creeping Brooklyn sameness blanketing the entire Hudson Valley, it's nice to know there is still somewhere out there that feels...unique. Our two pizzas, generous salad, and a bottle of Rioja hit the spot. I really enjoyed the sesame seed crust on the pizzas, too. Prices are great and the staff made every effort to keep us happy. EGGSTRAORDINARY! The Farmer's Omelette is a Brio's breakfast fav. Generous portion, full of sausage, red pepper, onions and more. Food and service are always top notch, no matter what time of day I drop in.

The pizza here is simply amazing. Cooked to perfection with a nice char from the oven. I have been here multiple times and the quality of the pizza is always consistent. The pizza crust is covered in sesame seeds which is a unique/pleasant twist. I also highly suggest the buffalo wings appetizer. EASILY the best pizza in the area. The service is always satisfactory

We had a good experience here today! I really enjoyed my BBQ chicken salad. It was very tasty and I enjoyed every bite. They have a huge menu, so everyone is sure to find something they like.

A true upstate classic. Hearty food, affordable prices, great atmosphere, wonderful service. My family and I have been coming here for years and I suggest it to anyone whenever I can. The positions are huge, even for the personal sized pizzas, and best believe you will leave happy with your belly FULL!! Save room for dessert! The servers are always incredibly helpful and accommodating, helping you with a smile for whatever your heart and stomach desires. Skip the chain spots, take a drive, and enjoy yourself!

When in Phoenicia, eat at Brio's. It's our regular stop every year when we visit the area. Authentic Italian food and excellent pizza, with many options. Add a beer on tap and you are good to go. The staff (many who have been there for years) know how to treat their customers. Looking forward to our next visit.

Been coming here for 35+ years , great pizza spot on par with some of the top NY spots. Calzones are tasty too. Whether you are at Brio's or the adjoining Sportsman, you came bet on having a good meal in an entertaining environment that doesn't disappoint.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I came in simply to place a takeout order -- not to dine in, not to cause a scene with my fully trained service dog. The moment I stepped inside, I was met with hostility, told my dog wasn't allowed, and kicked out before I could even speak. For the record businesses are not allowed to refuse service to someone with a service dog, regardless of whether they're eating in or taking food to go. Not only was this illegal, it was humiliating, discriminatory, and completely unnecessary. I will never be returning, and I strongly encourage anyone who values basic human decency to patronize the other restaurants in the area. The woman who owns or manages this place is an absolute disgrace.

A reasonable place off 28 where there is not a lot going on. We stopped on our way to Cooperstown and had a very good meal. Our waitress was a little clueless, but I think they hire local high school/college kids and she was very nice. We tried four different meals, and there was really nothing bad to say about any of it. I got ahi tuna tacos and was a little disappointed the tuna was breaded deep fried bites, but you know what? It was really good and hit the spot. Portions are reasonably sized, we even took some to go for later. Parking behind the restaurant was good, and street parking was available. We sat outside on the patio with the umbrellas and watched life go by. It was very relaxing. None of us could get the free wifi to work from the patio though!

Went to Phoenicia for a nice bike ride. My friend recommended this pizza and wanted to order two pies for the three of us, I thought he was nuts. Then the pizza with sesame seed crust landed on my taste buds and oh dang, what the hell was that? Am I eating a bagel or pizza? That combo was yummy. Ended up eating 3 slices and was still hungry. Would definitely take another bike ride just to eat!

The food was okay--but between seating ourselves, missing salads, out-of-order meals, and general chaos, the ambiance could best be described as "adventure dining." The takeout option is probably the way to go.

Sesame seeds on pizza crust? I didn't know I needed it until now. Brio's came highly recommended and now I know why. Personally, pizza never gets old. I love it and this margarita was by far one of the BEST I've ever had. It was packed with flavor and yet it was so lite. The sesame seeds added something special. If you haven't visited, make your way to over ASAP. It was worth the trip and then some. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and for sure will be recommending to friends and family.

Went in to pick up an order i called in and was ignored by everyone walking by for a good 10 minutes. The order was for 2 burgers with fries and came to almost $50. They claim fresh made burgers, they are frozen patties that were way over cooked and dry. Their bacon cheese burger has 1 slice of hard burnt bacon. On top of all that i had extra charges from them on my card. Owner is rude and wouldnt listen to anything i said.

Became a local about 8 months ago, and been a regular at Brios during that time. This review is based on my dining choices and expectations. I usually have beer and pizza. The beer selection is one of the best in the area. They've got Spaten on tap and the beer lines must be clean because it's great. The pizza is arguably the best thin crust pizza I've had anywhere. When you park, you'll see multiple cords of wood drying, waiting to be thrown in their wood fired pizza oven. It never disappoints! Service is good and friendly. The desserts are hit or miss, but their pies are usually excellent. So for pizza and beer, 5 stars!

My family and I have eaten in this restaurant for decades. The food has always been very good. That includes, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, from both Brios and the Alamo. We've eaten many things there from burgers, grilled cheese, chicken parm, nachos and pizza. Our only complaint is that the Brios side seems to be overrun by flies in the warmer weather. This really affects the enjoyment of the meal and I wish they could do something about it. The bathrooms could do with some sprucing up as well. Staff is usually very good and when theyre not theyre apologetic. That being said, I've never had a bad meal there and will definitely continue visiting.

My husband and I got dinner there tonight we used to go to brio's all the time and their food was great that's why we chose to go there because we haven't been there in a while since we had our twins. We got take out he drove all the way out there in the rain and cold we spent over $60 for food and let me say I was less than impressed. When he got there no one had any clue about what our order was it was a big confusing deal for some odd reason. The onions that they used on the EVERYTHING you could tell were bad because they had that fogginess to them and sliminess and all you could smell was onions the second he walked in the door. Actually all the produce that was in our meals was bad. I got a quesadilla and they had a nice side of slimy lettuce and bad tomatoes chopped up which I could have did without. The side to guacamole that I had with my quesadilla was brown. My kids got chicken fingers and fries and the fries were overcooked and I don't know if we could call them chicken "fingers" because half of the pieces were like these little balls of chicken grizzle. Their burgers used to be huge and you could tell that they were real meat burgers because they were pressed down like chopped beef burger should and the burger my husband got was just a big thick frozen beef patty. Macaroni salad was warm and had hard pieces of macaroni and it like it was sitting out uncovered for hours. I stopped eating my meal in fear of getting sick because of all the bad produce and the smell of everything. I really didn't want my kids to eat it either but that was their dinner and if I took it away from them they would have started crying. I'm highly disappointed with brio's and we will not be going back anytime soon

Brio's brick fire pizza was delicious, especially with the sesame seed crust. Good portions, reasonable prices. They had a nice draft list of local beers. The service was fantastic and outdoor seating was lovely. Would recommend!!

The world's best fries!!! We always go in and get about 2 or 3 To go orders and usually end up coming back 20 minutes later! Service alright! Also the other day I almost was hit by a truck who was a customer at Brio's he was not friendly so watch out for a guy w this license plate in a read truck

This was a hard one, really. I ordered a pizza for pickup from Brio's, a margherita with extra sauce. The crust has sesame seeds, which I quite enjoyed. The sauce was hot, there was enough cheese, and it was a really nice pizza. There are a few reasons this isn't four stars, and some for why it isn't five. It's a solid 3.5 to me. It didn't achieve four stars because the sauce wasn't to my taste. It was nice, but very garlicky (I love garlic powder but prefer not to over season sauce with it). If it pulled back a bit on the seasoning, I would give it a four. The reason it isn't a five star review, is because pizza around NYC and New Haven are exceptional and create a high standard. While this is probably exceptional in a place where there aren't a lot of restaurants, I found it to be underwhelming with the quality of pizza I am used to. If I want pizza in this area, it's great to have a good option. But I wouldn't necessary go up to Phoenicia just to have pizza.

They have the best wood oven pizza. Food is delicious. Service is always good. And the ambiance is very welcoming. Great place! I highly recommend it.

We love getting pizza and calzones from Brio's in Phoenicia. We discovered it our first night in Phoenicia-- walking distance from the Black Bear Campground. How awesome to be able to walk and get awesome pizza and bring it back to eat At the campfire! Delicious! We go back again and again!

A Brooklyn Italian American gives the Margherita Pie a big thumb's up. Serious pizza. Delicious. I go to a place with pizza in its name for one thing though the desserts look great too.

Pizza was not very good-- garlic was not fresh, glommed onto the pie in clumps. The staff was practically surly. The buffalo cauliflower bites were good, but they didn't give us the blue cheese we were meant to get with our take out order. In addition, they added a 10% gratuity for take out!! I've never heard of such a thing. As far as ambiance goes, it was not pleasant at all. Never going back to Brios ever again.

Went there for pizza, we sat down and within 5 minutes we had pizza. Who makes pizza in 5 minutes. Our drinks had not even arrived. Pizza came. It was so bad we couldn't eat it. My ten year old grandson wouldn't eat it it was so bad. The crust was barely cooked and like mush. We sent it back. It came back the same way. We got up and left. Headed over to Hunter for pizza at Mamas Pizza in Hunter NY. 15 minute drive. We ordered a pizza and it was delicious . I would give them 5 stars.

Not the best looking restaurant, but we don't have many options to eat after a long day of skiing. Waitress recommended a couple dishes, and it was delicious. French dip with their homemade bread, was outstanding. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We will be back again next weekend. By the way, we came back for breakfast. Pancakes were crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. Eggs Benedict was on point with savory ham. We will be back for sure

We were starving when we arrived at Brio's. The menu is very large and overwhelming. It took me a few minutes to figure out what I wanted. I have to say the portion sizes are huge. If you underestimate what you want to eat, that is the way to go. I ordered the Brio twist with swiss cheese instead of gouda. The sandwich did take some time to arrive. Others in my party ordered a pizza to share. The pizza arrived first, very fluffy crust and a good portion of toppings. The sandwich was good; I could taste the avocado, pulled pork and the sauce as it dripped out of the ciabatta bread. The garlic fries were so crispy and spiralled. It felt like a great meal after traveling 3 hours in a car. Afterwards I found the meal on the salty side and had to drink a lot of water. We had elected to sit outside which in restrospect was a bad idea. There were flies harrassing us as well as yellow jackets. It made it difficult to eat my sandwich because how on earth can I hold my sandwich and swat a fly away at the same time? I felt rushed. Then a yellow jacket decided to come and eat my curly fries (maybe they had honey or some sweet component in them? By then I was done with my meal. Everything tasted good but the outside experience was lacking. I was surprised they charged what they do for a sandwich platter (I thought they were more closer to NYC prices than a small town in the catskills). The place has wifi but the wifi is not strong. Wifi reception does not reach into your car parked in their lot! The bathroom was clean but there is only one toilet room per gender so you will have to wait your turn by the desserts counter. Our saving grace was it was recommended by the Rail Explorer's staff, as we had no idea what was open on this weekday when we thought most places would be. When we arrived around lunchtime this place was hopping. Next time I will probably have to dine in. Overall 3.5 stars. The place seems popular around here since the lot was full when we arrived.

I will put Brio's pizza up with some of the better places in NYC. Service could be a little more organized, but everyone is so sweet and kind. Food is full of flavor and definitely worth the price! If the weather is nice sit outside for the scenic view!

Took my friend here for Father's Day was the worst Food I've had in years ordered enchiladas look like soup unrecognizable as enchiladas manager refused to admit and gave us a hard time about removing it from our bill I ordered a burger the easiest thing for any restaurant to make I got it and immediately before you even taking a bite realized it wasn't even cooked correctly and that the Big Mike Burger was actually two frozen beef patties tasteless rubber garbage burger was made twice both times uneatable never was offered to take it off my bill second time I ordered the burger I asked just for some extra macaroni salad didn't get that got one small ice cream scoop of macaroni salad . Both meals were completely uneatable definitely the worst Food I've had in years I don't understand why this place gets any good reviews at all maybe I should have ordered the pizza . Then the manager had the nerve to tell my friend she had authentic Mexican Cooks more like undocumented dishwashers working the line at least that's what it's tasted like . Bill with tip was $65 and I never felt more ripped off then she had the nerve to tell us that she wanted us to come back and bring our biker friends I belong to a huge biker Club and I guarantee that none of us will ever spend a dime in this place . The only thing that tasted decent was the chips and salsa which by the way or twice as much as any place else so for two meals that were not eating a couple of beers and chips and salsa 65 bucks what a complete rip off . When you order a burger called the Big Mike you would think that they would be handmade patties which this manager bold-faced lied to me and said they were when you can obviously see that they are frozen patties tasteless unseasoned rubbery Frozen patties . This place is obviously just a tourist restaurant eat here once go back to the hotel get it out and never come back again

This place has really gone downhill in recent years and it has everything to do with the clueless staff / management. They have adopted a new business model that is confusing and does not function well. Customers must now order their food and drinks at the counter and then sit down at a table and someone brings it out to you. My partner and I had just been hiking all day and were thirsty and famished. Right after placing our order, we were told our drinks would be right out. We just wanted some ice water and a Diet Coke. After 15 minutes of waiting, we complained to the woman who took our order who replied with "I didn't take your order." Someone apologized to us and said they'd be right out. Five minutes later, the cooks brought our food out and we rightly complained that our drinks still had not arrived. How can you not get this right? Also if presentation of food is so important that you have the cooks bring it out, why are you sticking to the "order at the counter" routine that really cheapens the dining experience. Bottom line - cooks should cook and stay in the kitchen. Waiters / waitresses should take your order and serve your food. This business model sucks and is confusing to people who don't go there everyday. Also, the staff are condescending and need an attitude check. Every other restaurant on earth knows how to serve food. Figure it out or close down. The food is actually good here but I would rather eat at a gas station than go to this place again.

My favorite pizza of all time and the only one I'll eat! Thin crusted with sesame seeds under and over crust - delicious sauce, fresh mozzarella, and brick oven flavor - the best!!! And of course other toppings and great choices and foods for breakfast- lunch- and dinner!

Have been here many times and the food is actually pretty good. The front staff is always polite and nice. The pizza is good too, reliably. Unfortunately we can't go back because the bartender is extremely rude and this has been an issue more than once.

Solid pizza joint. We came here after a long day of snowboarding and skiing. They have a really big menu but I think the move is their wood fire pizza. I ordered a personal pizza with cheese, red sauce, onion, basil, jalapeño and asked if their sausage is crumbled or sliced. The woman said crumbled and that everyone always asks that and she's happy it's crumbled (I wanted crumbled). It was sliced though so I was confused but it was still good. I wish my pizza was a little more well done but I definitely still recommend it. They have a great beer menu (tap and cans).

Walked in to get 2 slices of pizza to go and was ignored for at least 10 minutes before deciding to leave. Eventually left because we were clearly not going to be served. There was nobody working the main counter. It was a busy Sunday afternoon but did not expect the rude and standoffish staff. They brushed by us and did not even say hi or attempt to serve us. It was like we were invisible, but they were clearly looking at us with disdain and looking at each other in annoyance that we were there. Very disappointed because the pizza looked good, but the service was awful.

Pizza and service was so great! That sauce apparently is a family recipe and everything is homemade, which our server was really proud of. You can tell people liked working there. I also had the German chocolate cake and martini. Everything was superb! Gosh that sauce!
