Detroit’s Biggest Restaurant and Bar Openings, July 2025 | Eater Detroit

"A beach-themed, seasonal bar operated by the Elia Group in collaboration with the Downtown Detroit Partnership, now in a larger two-story space with seating that even includes spots in sand. The menu leans toward crowd-pleasers such as nachos topped with smoked pork, crispy wings, hot chicken pitas, and jumbo quesadillas, while easy summer sippers anchor the drink list — including spiked slushies and cocktails like Boardwalk Bubblegum (whipped vodka and bubblegum soda)." - Jeffy Mai

Hidden gem right in the middle of campus martius park, downtown Detroit. First and foremost the staff, super friendly and inviting. The bar manager Marcus really made my group feel welcomed and not rushed, Our host Kelcie was amazing and got us seated right away. Our bartender Felicia was the sweetest and made the strongest "Ginger Peach Mule" I've ever had in my life lol. The food was great, the drinks were strong, best cocktails I've ever had. If you are visiting downtown Detroit and you want a fun, chill, laid back environment to eat, drink and or relax, I highly recommend you visit BrisaBar in campus martius park.

My friend and I came here to kill time after our flight landed and we had the best time. Emily was hands down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had. She was so friendly and efficient with her service all around the bar, yet still came back to socialize with my friend and I. She went above and beyond taking pictures for guests, providing recommendations, and truly making us the best drinks. If I wasn’t from MA, I would definitely come back to her time and time again. I highly recommend Emily at BrisaBar.

Here is the deal Emily W makes this bar an absolute must when in town. I am currently visiting Detroit for the first time and needless to say I had a great first experience in city largely because of her. Not only was she a terrific bar tender but her ideas, jokes and recommendations were so on point it was crazy. She was so attentive and kind with us even when it got to be a full bar. Normally I only will sit at a bar for an hour or so but I ended up sitting there for hours, that is how amazing she is. Hello again I am updating this post as I went back to brisa bar again for drinks and snacks after the lions game (hoping Emily was there again). Today was a totally different experience, there were two bar tender a young male and female these two very clearly could not have cared less. They were borderline rude the entire duration of our time there. To start they didn’t give us menus which is fine because we knew what we wanted because we were literally there the previous day. Then they were more interested in talking with two younger gentle than any of the others customers sitting there. Not only that but the girl had her vape just sitting out on the counter all willy nilly. Yes we are outside but a little discretion would have been appreciated. Next it took about 15-20 minutes for either bar tender to ask if I wanted another drink after looking at my empty cup roughly 7 times. Then the two men that were the focus left but the female bar tender had them move the chairs they were using to under the stairs so no one would be able to sit there anymore. As a server and bar tender myself I thought this was strange. Maybe 15-20 minutes later they came back with ice cream and a slushy ocean thing for the bar tender herself. She promptly ate that leaning against the bar not even glancing at the full bar around her. Not to mention the use of phones a quick text here and there sure but having your phone in your hand and paying a great deal of attention to it was very off putting. Needless to say we missed Emily. Her vibe her service and her attention to her customers is unmatched. She works hard and the difference is night and day. That girl deserves a dang raise. I just thought a manager should know as we are leaving the city in the morning and won’t be back.

Brisa Bar at Campus Martius is truly a vibe! The atmosphere makes me feel like I’m on tropical time every time I visit. The service is always outstanding—especially from Aryana, who goes above and beyond. Food and drinks are consistently 10/10. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Detroit!

Google
The best spot for a quick drink and a good burger! The wings are also gas! Emily stopped by our table after the food came out, she was so happy and her energy kept the vibes going. Our server angle was super sweet and helpful.

I came in to Brisa on my lunch today & tried the mojito, was so good! I watched the manager fill the keg & had no idea they could make cocktails that way! So cool. Aryana was my bartender & she made it a great experience, and pointed me to some new spots in the city, I ate the wings & i definitely recommend. Totally will come back to see these lady’s again, so welcoming & great service!

Yelp
What a super cool unique spot downtown Detroit! We walked over from a nearby hotel to let our daughter run around in the sand while we enjoyed dinner and drinks. The staff was friendly and let us pick a table near the beach rather than in their bar area with the DJ. The menu isn't huge but they have a variety of things which allowed us to share a bunch of stuff. A kids menu would be nice but this turns into adults only after 9pm anyways. They had chicken tenders which is perfect for kids. The food was surprisingly good! We all enjoyed the wings, onion rings, wraps, and my daughter had the chicken tenders. They were out of a few drinks which seemed weird and kinda annoying but the slushy cocktail was delicious. We would come back!

Yelp
Imagine an outside bar atmosphere where you literally feel like you're on a beach! So glad we stopped here on our date day downtown. It was a dream to be able to stick my toes in the sand while sipping a delicious cocktail... while in the D!! They also have a small light bites menu, which includes apps, salads, and sandwiches. Our server sat and chatted with us and was helpful with recommendations, and we greatly enjoyed our drinks! Such a relaxing, laid-back environment with fun seating and awesome music! Happy hour is M-F 3-6p and BrisaBar closes for the season on September 15th. I will definitely be watching for their reopening for the Summer '24 season!

Yelp
Drinks are nice and the energy is fun. Service is a bit slow, but tends to be ok when you are in a conversation or when they are slightly less busy. The ambiance is defiantly the reason to come, having a beach in the middle of downtown detroit is amazing. Recommend for the ambiance and a unique place to escape the city within the city

Yelp
The bartenders here were super rude - and they add gratuity to the bills without telling anyone. They don't even give you a copy of your receipt just the copy you can sign. I realized because the menu said the drink was $12, we had two drinks. Our bill was $30. Then when asked the bartenders didn't want to answer the question. This is very shady.

Yelp
So this is a cool spot! It's actually outside in campus martius, And if it's a nice day this is a really great place to be. You're right in the center of downtown on Woodward. It's a good walk from everything, well a lot of things. Baba bar, food, there's a restaurant about 20 yards away, it's a one-stop shop if you are walking around downtown. I thought that the service was pretty good, we spoke to the waitresses in Great length and had a good conversation, they made time to come and talk to us. I can appreciate that! If I was coming downtown and walking around for the night, I might would in and have a drink again!

Yelp
I love going to the beach in the middle of downtown! I appreciate that this is annual summer thing now in Campus Martius. A great chance to put my feet in the sand. This is a great Happy Hour destination. This beach bar has fun seating, cool vibes, and great music. Excellent service from Brandon. The drinks are tasty and the truffle fries are delicious!

Yelp
The best option is to eat before you go downtown. The food selections are so limited and overpriced. A hamburger is about $18 and your condiment selections are limited. You can't even get onions on it. Fries are separately priced, chips were an option. Drinks are okay. The ambiance is the best.

Yelp
Great vibes, awesome service, and tasty snacks! This is a pop up spot in Campus Martius that offers lots of outdoor seating (tables and bar top) and music! It was a bit on the pricier side but overall was a fun place to try. We got the wings and fries, and a drink off the cocktail menu. The drink was tasty but again a bit on the pricey side for what it was. I really enjoyed the small plates we got though!

Yelp
BrisaBar is located in the heart of Campus Martius Park. If you're out and about in the city, this is a cool spot to grab a drink and check out the action. During the summer season, this area is always on slam. Tonight they had a live Reggae band entertaining the crowd. We stopped by on our way to another spot and grabbed a cocktail. They do serve food, too. I would most certainly check it out before the season ends.

Yelp
This was my first time at this bar. The scenery is nice. There is a small sand area with seats. My friends and I sat at a table for six. There was a 20% gratuity added to the bill. I ordered shrimp tacos which came with fries and the kiss on the beach cocktail. My friends also ordered drinks. Most of our drinks were watery. I did try one of the bucket drinks. It was tasty. I loved the tacos. I tried my friend's lobster roll. It is served cold and did not care for it. Maybe if it was warm it would of been better.

Yelp
Decided to give this place another chance after the last time I went with friends (long story short the vibe of the place was cool, food was good, but the service was slow and my group got overcharged $60 on our tab). We sat down for 20 minutes with water before being told that the kitchen was now closed (at 7pm) due to an accident (believe they said a fire). Our waitress knew we weren't getting drinks already, so I'm not quite sure why our time was wasted. Seeing as it is my birthday and we just stopped in for quick food (and let the hostess know that as we were being seated), I was pretty dissatisfied. I also told the hostess excitedly that it was my birthday when she asked how our day was going and she responded immediately, "We don't do anything special here for that if that's what you're looking for". While I wasn't "looking for anything", I thought that was unprofessional and bad service. I understand wanting to be upfront, but there's a classier way to respond to customers. Again, you can have an attractive place with a great concept, but it means nothing if your service is consistently bad. As much as I LOVE the concept of a beach bar in the city, I won't be returning.

Yelp
Perfect night in downtown Detroit. Cocktails on the beach Excellent service from Brandon On of my favorite places. I had an Aperol Spritz and a perfectly cooked hamburger with truffle fries!

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for 5 years - no issues until now. Servers are great but new management is rude to the staff and food service stops at 1:30pm on one of the busiest weekends of the year. The new manager (Dominique) needs to be ousted for everyone's sake. This place used to be the best! **I also watched Dom scoop chips for multiple orders with her bare unwashed hands, which is disgusting and inconsiderate as even the food runners wear gloves.

Yelp
Great service, a little slow over the holiday weekend to be expected. Awesome ambience. Thanks Dom & Alicia!

Yelp
Such a cool bar right in Campus Martius! My sister got engaged right in front of the bar and Bria made us amazing shots!!! Such a pretty scenery with gorgeous decorations a beautiful 4 season outdoor patio right in front of the foundation in beautiful downtown!

Yelp
Fun outdoor bar right in the heart of Detroit. Has a beach. Think about that. Angel took care of us great lady!

Yelp
Very cool spot to stop for a snack and a drink. Big shout out to Kiwi, our server, who doubled as a super salad maker Also, big love to Nisha (hope I spelled that right) who filled up my water on my way out. Yummy drinks and excellent service.

Yelp
Had a lot of high hopes and honestly loved it, atmosphere and location are amazing! Food and drinks were delicious BUT it's all fun and games until service doesn't keep up. Our server rarely checked back in with us and service felt slow. Though we brushed it off as a busy night until we received our check, that we decided not to have split between all of us due to having to get to somewhere else, a whopping $200+ before tip (for 5 people) with no itemized breakdown at all. First time being there so we brushed it off as we didn't realize it was this expensive. Needless to say later on when looking at the menu versus what we ordered to split the bill ourselves we found we lost $60 before tip. I hope this is a one time thing as I do think this place has amazing potential and hope it doesn't happen again.

Rachael N.

Yelp
Was a little hectic on Memorial Weekend but the manager (Dom) did a great job at managing everything and Alicia our server made sure we were taken care of. Looking forward to 2023 summer here . We did have a party of 6. We wanted to split the bill in half but they told us we could not split the bill in half. So that's why a star is taken off.

R J.

Yelp
Waited 40 minutes for chips and salsa before being told the kitchen was "closed" at 7pm. Terrible service.

Yelp
I just left brisa and the place is great but there was a person named Dominique who needs to be fired very rude unprofessional everybody around us saw it and it was just awful to see but besides that everything was great food and everything but pls do something about Dominique

Christina O.

Yelp
I am very disappointed in this restaurant and its service. The food was flavorless and cold. Our waitress Jenna B over charged me for a drink I didn't even get and then added herself an extra tip on my bill. I checked my bank statement and she left herself a 16.92 dollar tip and didn't think I would check my stuff. You didn't even deserve that 16 dollars because you were never at our table. Other table waiters was checking on us more then she was. 1/10 would not recommend just horrible. Don't trust these waiters with your card. If you go here pay cash so they don't scam you.

Yelp
What an AWESOME place in Detroit!! We had such a good time with a group of friends downtown Detroit. We sat at the Bar and Breah and Angel waited on us. They were AMAZING! The place is such a VIBE. The drinks were great! Truffle fries were bomb and I loved the Caesar salad. Definitely check it out!!

Marion M.

Yelp
Left because of Dominique, we came for food and margaritas, she closed the kitchen and wouldn't allow the servers to serve food. At 2 pm. They were serving other people food at the bar right by us

Gordon F.

Yelp
Visiting Detroit and came across Brisa Bar. Stephanie's slushees were THE best!! So glad we stopped by, great summer hangout.

R D.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere right in the heart of the D! The food is mediocre at best. Chips, salsa & guacamole is not worth $15. They ran out of burgers on a Friday really??

Nell L.

Yelp
September 4 we seen advertising wanted to check it out it was horrible porter-pot bathroom nasty at that service is the worse . female waitress was rude . . than had the nerve to say I was complaining about getting wet there is no cover if it rain . I don't know how it on hot day but I'm sure waiting hour for a sandwich is not cool no day if you only have few customers . Worse experience I had at any state I travel period do not recommend at all ! zero stars

Tanisha C.

Yelp
Came here because we saw it on the news and the food looked good. We waited a bit before the waiter came to our table for service. The service is terrible, staff inattentive. They obviously don't know the table numbers; our food was taken to the wrong tables twice. I was done with my food before my husband even got his food, we sent it back and left. It even took us a bit of time to pay our check. Staff needs a bit more training. Only gave it a 1 star because the atmosphere and music were good.
