Broadway Brewhouse - Review - Midtown - Nashville - The Infatuation

"If you want to fully understand the city’s Bushwacker lore, you must start here. This Midtown dive is a hometown institution, and it’s one of the few spots where you can enjoy this frozen treat all day long (11am-3am, to be exact). Settle in next to the PBR mural of a busty pin-up cheekily proclaiming “Great cans!” and sip on the OG, a creamy combination of silver rum, Bacardi 151, coffee and chocolate liqueur, and milk. It has a true milkshake texture and is extremely liquor-forward—proceed with caution (and maybe have some Tums on hand). The original here is no fuss, and your gateway into Nashville’s Bushwacker scene." - Bailey Freeman

Where to Warm Up With Hearty Bowls of Soup in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Broadway Brewhouse claims fame for two things: bushwhackers and soup. If you’ve had their singular ‘whacker, you know their soup game must be strong to share the masthead, and indeed it is. Every day they serve Mojo Gumbo, with chicken and andouille sausage with rice. This is one place, though, where you should always ask about the soup of the day, which is typically some combination of cream, seafood, and spice." - Ashley Brantley

Went here to get out from the crowds on Broadway. Food was very good. Sat at the bar. Server was great! The cons: bathroom was kind of gross. Wouldn't take much to have someone wipe down the stall walls and tops of all the dust and keep paper towel dispensers filled. It wasn't that busy as there is no live music. Went to other places that were much more crowded and they did a much better job keeping up with bathrooms.

Google
1st time visit and had a great time. Met some friendly, fun patrons who made an out-of-towner feel very welcomed. The staff and service was great. Food was delish! Will definitely be coming back when I return to Nashville! 5 ✨'s!

Google
Amazing wings get them, trust me

Google
Excellent food! Queso dip and wings are amazing. Queso chicken was great. Everyone in our party loves there food. Loved the waitress staff and bartenders. Very nice people. No air conditioning. Warm in there the fans helped but hate feeling sticky when I eat. Can a only get in with a valid ID.

Google
Went in to grab wings and was severely let down. The fries were great but the wings were barely above cold. It seems like they didn't want to spend the time making them hot since it was a to go order. My hotel was literally right across the street. No way they should've already been cold. Wasted money

Google
I walked here from my hotel hoping to support a small business. The guy behind the counter was rude, DIDN’T YOU SEE THE SIGN WHEN YOU CAME IN? When I asked about seating… Not a single employee approached me to take a drink or food order after 15-20 minutes I just left because we have 8 pm tickets. Do not recommend, stay away, rude staff, and unappreciative of customers.

Nicholas Brown

Google
Came in around 3:30 PM about a year ago, it was about 1/4 full. Stood at the door for 5-10 minutes with some other parties (I was solo) before we all assumed it was the type of place to seat yourself. After seating myself, I sat for 20-30 minutes watching every other party with multiple people get orders taken, food delivered, and even some checks given - including parties that came in after me. I was never approached by anyone in the restaurant for the entire time despite me trying to flag down the staff. When I approached the bar, they quit ignoring me but clearly were annoyed I didn’t bring anyone in. Point being, if you’re traveling through alone like I was, grab a homeless person to sit with you or maybe pick up an elderly person from the nearest nursing home because otherwise you ain’t getting anything.

Google
OK AP, you didn’t ask for it, you earned yourself a 15 star! You gave great service, engaged with us, and your recommendations were spot on! Those bushwhackers really got me ready to tackle the MUSIC CITY ambiance. Those local IPAs you recommended were delicious especially the BEARDED IRIS. The place it self was a great reprieve from the loud and boisterous beautiful BROADWAY! The food was delish!

Yelp
Came here to dinner for our first night in Nashville . Our cousin picked the spot. Food was really good! I got the nachos not too many non-meat options still very delicious.

Yelp
We were downtown for a show at Bridgestone Arena and needed to waste some time. We came here to grab a couple of drinks. The bar was busy but we were able to find seats and get service. I got two beers and we were able to have fun. I will come again if I am in the area.

Yelp
If you come to Nashville, You have to find this little bar across rom all the Honky-tonks on Broadway in the downtown area of Nashville. I have never enjoyed a bowl of spicy Chili like the one they make. I wish I could duplicate it but have not been able to. It is a brisket chili with the right amount of everything. I think it is the best I have ever had. Nothing else made my chili cut like thier home made brisket Chili. Service was super fast. I don't think it took more than 3 minutes to get my food. Drinks and other items are tasty, but don't forget to try the chili! Bar scene is good and tons of tap beer selection. Real local dive with the beat options.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was excellent here. So many beers to choose from. And for a town not known for its food, our meal wasn't bad. The chicken queso was a good way to start. The French dip was good, not fabulous, made with brisket. The onion rings were really great. Over all, a great place to grab food to help absorb all the alcohol on Broadway Street!
google avatar

Darrin R.

Yelp
This bar is located in a prime location on the Broadway strip. We entered and noticed all the beer taps on the wall. This place has a GREAT craft beer selection. I would definitely recommend a visit.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
A typical Nashville on Broadway bar. They claim over 70 beer on tap. It was a hot Nashville day so we stopped in for a beverage. I choose a Dead Guy ale from the Rogue brewery. Very good beer. We didn't eat, the menu was all bar food. Overall, service was slow. The seats and tables all show fair amounts of wear.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was just OK! Service was great! Ambiance was nice, quiet, no music great bar to get away from all of the craziness for awhile when in Nashville! Laura was our server, on her game, very friendly, honest and open about the menu and great server indeed!
google avatar

Ariel M.

Yelp
I'm going to go with 4 stars because service was slow and it wasn't busy.(A Thursday night at 7) But food was good I got the chicken Fingers and fries. Everything was cooked and fries were seasoned! They do have a lot of beer, and good music playing. A few games to play too.
google avatar

Yelp
The home of the bushwhacker! Very much a dive bar. But with great service. They have cider which made the wife happy. And they have the Bushwhacker which made me happy. I've gotta try local drinks etc. It's a place where you can actually hear yourself think. Which is a rarity in Nashville.
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
I walked into the first restaurant I came to after parking. I got to try alligator bites which was not available at the restaurant I went to the day before. I had the sample platter with catfish, gator bites and shrimp with a small salad. The pickled salsa was pretty good on top of the salad. I am not a big fan of fried food, but it was tasty. I washed it down with an Angry Orchard while my really sweet Waitress kept checking in on me. I was happy that it wasn't crowded and I could enjoy the open space. I definitely recommend it. Lots of foot traffic through there.
google avatar

Gregg S.

Yelp
Absolutely whatever. Ambience was fine. Food was fine+. Server called me "boss" and "big man." So that's a fine-minus, if we're getting technical.
google avatar

WD S.

Yelp
Been here twice. The best Bushwhackers drink. Great for a place to grab a decent bite that's not hard to hear because of a band. Food was decent but your really here for the drinks and people watching. The Reuben was good and the patty melt was pretty good. Again we went for the drinks and decided to eat so we weren't drinking on empty stomachs. A lot of people were eating burgers and nachos
google avatar

Janice C.

Yelp
Disgusting food. Disgusting service. Never eating here again, I'll promise you that. Never go to this restaurant.
google avatar

Miranda M.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. We stopped here to grab a bite because everywhere else was packed! We sat ourselves and a server came immediately! Then we got our drinks and appetizer very fast. The server was very attentive considering how many tables she had! Excellent service! It was clean and have a great atmosphere!
google avatar

Connie E.

Yelp
Stopped in late night specifically for a Buschwaker (which was amazing!). But stayed for the food. I tried the Laredo rolls and loaded fries that you can choose the toppings. I got mine with chilli and cheese. Everyone at my table ordered something different and we all thought it was solid. The late night menu was a discounted price. I would say definitely try this place!

Yelp
We made the mistake of taking our kids to the strip in Nashville and needed to find a place to eat without live music. We went here and they were great, great food and great service. The food has a Cajun flair to it and it was so good. Kids had chicken fingers they were homemade! The fruit cup on the side of kids meal was huge and fresh fruit! Loved the spice on the fries. I got a veggie quedilla and I wish I could go back just for this. My husband got the pulled chicken sandwhich andwas very pleased. They have something like 70 beers on tap, and I was frazzled and asked the waiter to pick an IPA for me. He was great and picked a good beer and was attentive. I also lost my credit card here and one of the staff found it and got it back to me. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Literally ran here from the Titans game to beat the crowds and get a table to watch the Jets game. 20 minutes after we've been there, they change the channel of the only TV we have visibility for. They said it's first come first serve and someone asked to change it. (Our channel was already on, so we wouldn't have requested to change it) They said we should find another table, knowing full well that there were none left at that point, as the crowds we planned ahead to avoid had packed out the bar.

Yelp
Yummy! I had a bad experience where the bartender was ignoring me while I was trying to the order food. However walked into the back bar and had my food in less than 5 min. Food was hot and had great taste.

Yelp
Rodney is da bomb! Brisket nacho's awesome Service was epic Thanks Rodney Even though I hate having to use

Yelp
Was told about this place and the best in Nashville; Bushwhacker. I will say, as far as bushwhackers go and my limited experience with them, this was by far the best one I've tasted. Think of a boozy Wendy's frosty. YummmmO. The rest of the fare that is offered here I can't speak of. We just stopped in for that one reason. If you're looking to get your bush whacked...this is where you want it to be.

Kayla R.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Went here while my cousin was in town. No servers in sight so grabbed a drink at the bar. A seat opened up, grabbed it, and was promptly told you can't sit here if you order from the bar. Told the random server (thin, handsome, 5'10) we intended on ordering food and he said, " you got your drink from the bar so unless you give me head you're outta here". I was shocked and disgusted so I said how gross he was, then was told by another sever (larger and with purple hair) I needed to be nice and within seconds was met by security telling me I "was rude" and needed to leave. MORAL: I was Met with misogyny and verbal assault - and because I rebuked his advances I was kicked out. F this place - foul and disgusting. Danger to all women and children. Ps - I live in Nashville - WILD.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service on a Saturday night. We came in at 6:15 and had our drinks and apps by 6:30 and dinner by 7:45. The portions are really large. We could have split easily! Fantastic!

Yelp
I am beyond disgusted with broadway brew house. I am beyond words to how I was treated. I walked in to have drink with a few friends, and sit down at a table, and I was approached by a server. This was before my friends arrived, so I was alone. The server wore a blue shirt and had a beard. He arrived to take my order and suddenly with no warning, proceeded to make sexual advances on me, commenting on appearance and said disgusting things, saying what "I would like to do to you" followed with offensive comments and demands. I could tell he was drinking. I refused his advances, which made him storm away. I had never experienced service like this before in my life. About 5 minutes later, he apparently sent a bouncer in a AC/DC shirt for me, as this bouncer approached me and said "get the f*** up, this isn't your seat f*****." Before I was able to stand up for myself to him for saying this slur, I was removed from the bar. Frankly, I would love to press charges against Broadway brew house but I am scared of the backlash of the community. This was unprompted and frankly, appalling. I had never experienced service like this before. While I understand that Nashville is not as accepting as other cities, I assumed that this bar would be acclimated to the LGBTQ+ and Black Lives Matter climate that is making a great difference. However, it is only a homophobic and racist restaurant. Please avoid and boycott Broadway Brew House, for your own safety and well being. I hope that they can have better service practices, not only for bars on Broadway, but for the entire Nashville community.

Yelp
I love this place! Cheap beer, good food, great music. Perfect spot. Staff was great.

Yelp
I am in Nashville for the 1st time. I wanted some wings I I figured if I stayed away from Broadway I would get a better "local" food joint. That being said the place is great it's got a lot of beer on tap. The server was awesome. I counted 9 tvs but there could be more I was seated at the bar. I did orde the whole order wings of wings (10) pictured they looked delicious but I bit into one and it was down hill from there, the sauce was ok I ordered the MOJO expecting a bit of heat ( MOJO is there ) not at all it was sweet. The wings are precooked so thay were worm at best. I am not use to that but the wings almost tasted fake the texture of the wing was completely different then any wing I've ever eaten over my 40 plus yeas of loving wings. I woul like to say this is a fluke and I hope so but I personally would never eat the wings if this is there normal.

Victoria B. A.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was not. Best part of my meal was the saltines and water. The chips were stale. The queso was watery and bland. The salad was chopped iceberg that would have been a topping for a taco. Ambiance fine but nothing special

Yelp
We saw there was 70 beers to choose from, so we said why not go there! Lol The staff during both visits were very nice and friendly. Being from another State, we were surprised to see you can smoke in there. We haven't seen a cigarette machine in forever! $10 a pack! So glad I quit years ago! I enjoyed my BLT during my first visit and my patty melt the second one, although it was a little over cooked. I like the Tuscan bread! Both times the fries were hot and crispy. My husband agrees, the fries were cooked just right. He said he liked the portion size of the Jalepenos Bacon Cheeseburger - spice was good and the jalapeños mayo was a bonus. However, it was cooked well done and we realized we were never asked how we want our burgers. So, be sure to let them know when you order. We also both agree that the wings are very meaty. The Gringo wings were a little too plain for my husband but I enjoyed the hot ones. We were also pleasantly surprised with the two for one beer specials :0)

Yelp
We tried their Fried Shrimp Basket for $8.99. It has deep fried breaded shrimp served with fries, hush puppies and tartar sauce. We also had a Cajun sampler with Texas toast. The flavors and service were alright. There was nothing extra-ordinary which will make it worth mentioning, except perhaps the beer selection (if you are into that). it is totally your wish if you want to visit this place.
google avatar

Beth A.

Yelp
Coors Light was skunk beer. Pointed out to bartender and she brought another. Same thing, skunk beer! Yuck! Ask nicely to grab one from the back of cooler and she walked away. It takes minutes for some beer to have a chemical reaction when exposed to bright light bulbs. Which they have their bottles in a brightly lit cooler. Instead of taking care of her customer she went to another employee to complain about her customer, which was heard clearly. Place was empty so she had no excuse. Paid for drinks not consumed and left. Save yourself. Lots of other options.

Yelp
We're not from the area, but we find our way here every time we're in Nashville. Mainly because my hubby is a fan of the bushwhacker and apparently theirs is the best. Personally, the first time I had a bushwhacker, I feel like I had a hangover and brain freeze all at once after just one. It reminds me of a very boozy Wendy's frosty. When we went this last time, I was able to finish one and didn't feel wasted or hungover, so that's a plus. My hunny loves these though. He will sit and drink three or four and want more. It's crazy. The food is okay. Bar food, but tasty. We usually order online at Hattie B's, which is around the corner, and then post it here sippin' on a bushwhacker until it's ready. It is a fun bar vibe though with a couple video games and darts. It would be a fun place to hang out with friends, while watching some football.

Yelp
Fuck this place. I've given this dishonest business hundreds of dollars throughout the last TWO years and was treated like absolute dog shit today. Our douchebag waiter had the personality of a brick wall. The food was bland and over cooked. The place is never cleaned. My bf left his $20 box of unopened Jack Daniel's Tennessee honey pecans at our table so I called to ask if they were still there. I was told yes, that they were still at said table and that they'd put them behind the counter until we could return to pick them up. Upon returning an hour later, we're given the box (without the bag they were in) and could clearly see that some were missing. I open the box to see the cellophane ripped open. My bf goes back inside to ask the manager why it was opened despite being told it would be kept safe until our return to retrieve them and he was a total dick with Z E R O customer service skills. Claimed that it could've been a customer who ate them since an employee could've stored them at the end of the bar rather than behind. Real nice. What kind of establishment tells a customer that their belonging will be protected for an employee to have the GALL to open and eat said belonging. Did they think we wouldn't notice?! I'll never return to this poor excuse of a business.

Yelp
This was a random lunch spot bc all other places where packed and we were NOT disappointed!! We had a group of 7 so we all got something different to try everything. All the food and drinks came out in a very timely manner, every plate was delicious!! This will be our go to spot when whenever we are downtown at a meal time!!! The staff was very pleasant too!!

Yelp
Food is so good!!! Good prices especially for it being on Broadway. Great spot for a cheap dinner before going out on the town!!! We got cajun food and mexican food and both were yum. No wait. Fast service. 5 stars.

Yelp
The Cajun Sampler was good, as was the Jalapeño Bacon cheeseburger. We were there for an early dinner, service and ambiance were great as well!

Yelp
BEST Jambalaya in town! I always make a stop at this location every time I visit town. Great atmosphere, cheap drinks and I absolutely love their jambalaya and Hush puppies! They also have great music playing in the background.

Yelp
DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU QQNT TO RISK BODILY HARM BY MANAGEMENT DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Unless you like being manhandled by a 325 lb bouncer We witnessed first hand an older couple probably in their 60's being PHYSICALLY accosted by a huge security person for.....are you ready for it.....CHANGING TABLES!!!! We heard the couple ask for a manager when one of the waitstaff accosted the gentleman even saying "get out of here old man" to the gentleman. The next thing you know this 300+ lb man probably 6' foot 4 showed up at their table and PHYSICALLY grabbed the man and then his wife and SHOVED them out of the door....causing them both to stumble backwards. How they didn't fall is a miracle as they were not large people. This couple did NOTHING except change tables. We saw the entire thing!!! As did other patrons. The couple called the police and waited for them I'm guessing to press charges. At least I hope so. The lady was on the phone outside of the restaurant calling the police. It was obvious that she could not hear on the phone as she re-entered the restaurant with the phone to one ear and her hand to the other ear. This same huge man came up to her again and without warning literally grabbed her by the shoulders and one wrist and shoved her again backwards outside!!!!!!The older man was bleeding and his shirt was ripped. I'm sure the lady was bruised up pretty bad the next day as they are not large people. The couple waited a good half hour for the police to come. Finally they arrived. What happened after that I don't know. I sure hope they get a lawyer because this was obvious assault at its finest on both of them. Patrons did come to the aid of the couple yelling at the security guard or whatever he was to leave them alone. Never out to our hands on a woman. Can't you see they are older. Etc. Many patrons left the restaurant as well. It was obvious that he was not the manager even though the couple asked for the manager repeatedly!!! DONT GO HERE!!!!! JUST DONT!!! We had been regular customers for several years. . NEVER AGAIN! If I could give this place a -10 I would.

Yelp
Went to Nashville to spend the night. Decided to go to the Brewhouse on Broadway. When we walked in... I get it it's a Sports bar.. Tvs everywhere and people at the bar I bn w a o may with that living in Iowa (Sports Bar Capital) .. But the waitress at the bar was rude as hell, the place was dirty and the tables were greasy like they were cleaned with spit an a paper napkin.. strike 1. She came over and took our meal order and it was salad with wings how hard is that I ask you... ? Pretty hard I guess Well they served it to us on paper plates and plastic silverware, now I know what you're gonna say..BUT the fork was bent an wouldn't pick up the tomatoes let alone lettuce dry no dressing and the wings...they were dry rub... They had no flavor they were wet with grease and cold. We left gave her a $1.00 top an she didn't even n deserve that.. Won't probably make I back to Nashville in this lifetime but if I did I'm steering clear of that SHIT place.. Ambiance was just a big NO floors are dirty bars was dirty and don't get me started on the bathroom.. There isn't that much room on this app for that... If I could I would give it no stars!! BEWARE Not fancy or descent..

Alyssa F.

Yelp
Amazing food and service!! I absolutely loved their wings and I'm really not big on wings! They were delicious! Our waitress was amazing and the mixed drinks were perfect!

Yelp
This place was recommended by the diner down the block. We went on Saturday, July 9th around 10pm and ordered two drinks. We saw someone walk out with their drink and decided to take ours to go. My wife exited the front door and a skinny light skinned black guy with glasses started yelling at her "uh uh, no, uh uh". He then grabbed her arm and told her that she couldn't leave with a drink. She returned inside immediately. We were not drunk and had just arrived on the strip a hour before. I went outside and asked to speak to the guy. I tried to be really nice and asked him to use his words before grabbing people. I explained to him that we didn't want any trouble and wanted to follow the rules. I told him that a simple "you're not allowed to leave with your drinks" would have done the trick. He then told me "I've been doing this for 7 years and if you don't like the way I do my job, you can leave". I said ok, and went to get my phone and my wife to leave. He followed me back inside and got in my face. He then called my wife "entitled". I didn't want to go to jail, so we left our newly ordered drinks on the table and left. It's really a shame. The drink was good and the bartenders were really nice. This bouncer was looking for trouble. I'm sure there are drunk people that need some encouragement, but we were not it.

Yelp
This is really cool dive bar with a lot of beers on tap that also unfortunately still allows smoking but at least they keep it decently ventilated so it doesn't get too disgusting. It is very disappointing for my last visit on a Sunday when there was a 2 for 1 special that I got charged 1 for 1. I also take issue with this establishment taking credit for having the "Original Bushwhacker" as everybody knows FloraBama invented that beverage. They have a decent menu of food here and serve some items late. The service could be better even though they usually have a lot of staff working behind the bar I have been left with an empty glass of beer needing a refill for far too long several times; even when it wasn't that busy as the staff was around the corner smoking or having a long conversation. Overall this is a decent bar to go to and especially during one of their 2 for 1 beer specials although it would be much nicer without the nasty smoking. It would make a LOT more sense if the smokers should get put out on the non-smoking patio area so all that nasty smoke could escape instead of being trapped inside the building.

Yelp
Great service, great wings, and super chill place to. Hang out. Not over priced like everything else around it. A+++

Yelp
Dive bar. Unfriendly bartenders, good for drinking and football games and best part parking across from Hattie Bs

Priss R.

Yelp
Is this the best food you ever had? No Is it the most creative drinks? No Is this the most eclectic vibe in Nashville? Also no Is it solid food and good service? Hell yes. We tried standing in line for hot chicken but when someone said it was. 2 hour wait we bounced. Smoking is allowed so be forewarned. But the food is legit.
google avatar

Kayla K.

Yelp
I didn't try any food while here, but I loved the beer selection! So many local beers on draft! We popped in here to grab some beers while waiting for our Hattie B's takeout order to be ready. It was super chill and our beers were great!

Dana W.

Yelp
72 beers on tap great selection. The only bar on broadway in downtown Nashville TN that's never packed. I order the Cajun sampler. First off the red beans and rice was literally baked beans from a can in sauce. The jambalaya was like paste. Terrible but its a bar so get what you pay for.
google avatar

Traci C.

Yelp
Stopped here a quick lunch. The service was good at lunch time. Two of us ordered the cajun club and fries to split. The chicken on the sandwich was well seasoned and flavorful -- quite good for a bar sandwich. Nice place for a quite bit or to catch up with friends.
google avatar

Stefan K.

Yelp
Best place we've been to this far in Nashville. Decent prices which is what has been ruining the trip. This place has a good vibe, friendly staff, good spot to people watch
google avatar

Yelp
Two for one beers ALL DAY on Sunday? Umm, is that really I thing? Oh yes, I can attest in fact that such things do exist. With 70+ beers/ciders on tap to choose from, you really can't go wrong. Now, while I'm not a beer drinker, my companion at the time definitely is, and they were thrilled to be able to drink Bud Light draft for essentially $1.50 a piece with the 2 for 1. If domestic light beer isn't your particular jam, they offer several micro and local brews on the same deal. It's a steal if you're a beer drinker (obviously) and they have several TV's to take in any of your favorite sporting events.

Great place, great beer selection. This is an old school bar plain and simple. We had the nachos, 1/2 order, which were phenomenal and enough for me and the wife. The bar top itself is wide. It reminds me of how bars used to be. If you like beer, especially local as I do, go here.
