"Chef Troy Brocato (no relation to Angelo) grew up around downhome cooking in a small town north of Lafayette. He honed his skills with his Uncle Paul, as in chef Paul Prudhomme at K-Paul’s. The result is a one-two culinary punch that translates to outstanding homestyle Creole and Cajun fare at Brocato’s Kitchen. His $12.99 daily specials include the likes of meatloaf with brown gravy, smothered pork chops, and stuffed bell peppers. But the whole menu is outstanding." - Beth D'Addono

Google
Great Family Owned Restaurant. The red beans, hot broad and gumbo are on point. However, the macaroni and gumbeaux fries are EPIC

Shout out to a real one! I went here for a poboy, but they do plates as well. I guess this family has been making food around town for a long time but this is their first brick-and-mortar. You can get their story on their website. They gonna get you right! Old school plates and poboys done right with old school prices. It’s too far from often to see a new joint doing old school food. They have a very comfortable dining area if you want to eat there. I got a roast beef poboy, dressed, with a bottle of Barqs root beer as the good lord intended. It was better than Radosta’s.

I come here every Monday and order the red beans and my choice of side of Chicken tenders. And each time I do, It tastes the same every time. Had a bite of their Hot Broad Burger as well and WOW! The flavors on the Hot Broad is phenomenal!!! Consistency across the board at this place!!!

The food is so good. Love the flavor of the roast beef and fried shrimp. But the best thing of all was the amazing bread pudding!! Highly recommend

Google
Astoundingly delicious New Orleans food in an unassuming casual location. The roast beef poboy was phenomenal and the chicken parm and gumbo were super delicious. Talking with Cherie is such a joy - she is clearly passionate about good food! Highly recommend for an exceptional New Orleans meal!

Had excellent hamburger poboy and had some fried okra, debris fries. You can't go wrong here and the price is a steal. Cheaper than fast food!

Google
I had their vegan gumbo at Po Boy Fest because I was curious how they’d achieve the taste without the traditional ingredients. It was so yummy. I’m bummed it’s not on their restaurant menu - I’d come just for that!

My friend took me for midweek lunch. I had the nola special po-boy and fried okra. Both were excellent and twice the food that I could eat in one meal. Will definitely return.

Yelp
What a find - I had read they have one of the best Po'boys in city, so I had to try out. We ordered the special that day (red beans and rice with sausage), roast beef Po'boy, and mac and cheese. Would rank the Po'boy up there just based on bread. It was the perfect chew and heft to soak up the gravy. The mac and cheese though was the big winner! Melted cheese and unique pasta strands that melded into cheesey yumminess.

Yelp
Good delivery order: half roast beef poboy with a side of baked macaroni. WOW. Very good. Curious to know what. Read they use-excellent. I can't wait to try the Italian dishes.

Yelp
Friendly and quick service in a setting with a very local feel. The daily specials are all amazing, but I had to try the NOLA Special poboy. I was a bit apprehensive, because I don't tend to mix up my shrimp poboys with other meats, but I must say this works! It's like a traditional fried shrimp on French, but with added spice and extra substance from the hot sausage patties. Just get it and thank me later. Pro tip: they have parking on the side off Broad Street.

Yelp
A great lunch spot. The dining room is quaint but still a bit sophisticated, think white table cloths. The food was absolutely delicious, I enjoyed a poboy on soft chewy bread with just a sprinkle of sesame seeds, crisp on the edges, still juicy hot sausage and plump fried shrimp dressed with perfection. After multiple breaks, I was able to finish it! The service was friendly and helpful. I felt treated like family which reminds me of the New Orleans of my childhood. Totally recommend. And we will be back!

Yelp
A great little lunch spot! I had a cheeseburger and fries, while my mom had the red beans & rice with a fried pork chop. Everything was cooked to perfection! The portion sizes are generous and the staff is super friendly!

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service and a great New Orleans atmosphere. Troy is an excellent chef. Have literally known him all my life and have never eaten anything he cooked that wasn't good. Go get y'all some!

Yelp
I heard about Brocato's in the "Where Y'at Magazine". I was very interested in trying this local restaurant due to it competing with one of the well known establishments, Parkway Bakery for best Roastbeef poyboy. So, I visited twice, last week and this week and tried the sausage/chicken gumbo (dark roux), fried catfish, potato salad and Roastbeef poyboy. All were delicious and the Roastbeef poyboy reminded me of how long time ago Schwegmann Bros. Giant Supermarket restaurant used to cook their Roastbeef. The food is very flavorable, delicious. The restaurant is very clean, courteous staff and Cherie served me on both occasions. I was most shocked when she told me that she has a booth out at Jazz Fest called, TCA Brocato, LLC where they sell some more specialized dishes. I must admit that I have seen the booth but never tried and I will definitely be a customer whenever I attend Jazz Fest. They participate in many local festivals Treme, Gretna and I reviewed this info on their Facebook, Brocato's Kitchen". The restaurant is worth trying and I will continue to taste some of their special and regular dishes offered. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Really expected the glowing newspaper write-up to pack this place, but when we showed up toward the end of a weekday lunch hour, most of the tables were empty. The owners and staff are clearly very eager to make this place a winner, and have the chops to back it up, but I worry that this particular address may be a "doomed location" judging by the turnover in recent years. Roast beef po-boys? Excellent. With a little tweaking they could achieve greatness. Plenty drippy and well-seasoned, as expected, but it's a waiting game to see if Orleans Parish residents (locals) will dub it a Top Fiver dish. Lots of competition in this arena, so you either beat 'em or distinguish yourself with something completely different. Brocato's is going for the former.

Yelp
The red beans & rice with a fried pork chop is to die for. Very delicious. My new lunch spot when I'm in the city. Staff is very polite and professional. If you haven't been there, you need to stop in and give them a try. Clean bathrooms, and resturant.

Yelp
Stopped by this cute place after getting documents notarized at Bergeron notary upstairs. Mainly traditional New Orleans fare, but some vegetarian options. I had the caprese po boy with potato salad-- nice crisp bread, fresh veggies, and a delicious pesto sauce! I am looking gorward to trying their vegan gumbo, which has won the Treme Gumbo contest a few years in a row. The people are lovely and friendly, and the restaurant, including bathroom, was squeaky clean. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had the stuffed bell pepper with a delicious salad. My Dinning companion had the fried catfish and mac & cheese. Our dishes were delicious. The bread pudding is wonderful. This is a small clean very plain restaurant. Staff is very friendly. I will be back! Prices are reasonable as well.

Yelp
We were looking forward to ordering from Broccato's, since someone from their restaurant came and dropped off a flyer to advise of their menu & location. Our office ordered 5 meals for lunch. 3 of us ordered the Friday special, which is the seafood (shrimp & crabmeat) stuffed bell pepper. The pepper was stuffed mostly with dried out bread crumbs with 3 overcooked shriveled shrimp and no crabmeat what so ever. The veggies were cold and the baked mac n cheese was burnt on the edges. Very disappointing, not fresh cooking at all.

Yelp
The white beans special was absolutely delicious. And the catfish was fried to perfection! My friend got white beans with sausage, and the sausage has a great smoky flavor. Really good. When I asked, they said it came from the "country"! Locals know what that means! The restaurant has a real old fashioned N.O. vibe to it. Not very big or fancy, but bright and cheery and clean. And the owners have been in the business for years, cooking in restaurants and festivals and fairs for decades. It wasn't busy, (yet), but hopefully this place catches on. I'd definitely put it on my list of places to go to. I want to try their roast beef po-boy, and the fried shrimp po-boy. And, some of their other daily specials and the regular menu look pretty good, too. Also, they have nice size portions. Took half of it home! Of course, Had to try the blueberry cobbler for dessert. Yum! Yes, do it! Or, maybe share!!!
