Not the greatest first impression, but we ended up enjoying our food.
We arrived for breakfast Sunday about 5 minutes before they were to open. Along with 3 other customers, we started to enter when an employee outside turned the sign to "open" and welcomed us in with him. We were quickly yelled at from behind the bar by the only female employee to go back out, that they weren't ready. We all exited... Cue the 2nd male employee approaching and turning the open sign while welcoming us all again, only to be told another NO by the clearly frustrated female employee. Each time the guys apologized to her and us, but at this point we were a tad turned off...not by the mistaken welcomes, but by the unwelcome feeling we were getting from her. Not until she approached and turned the sign herself did she allow us in, but with some sass and the impression we were being somewhat scolded, leaving us with a not-so-welcome taste in our mouths. We considered leaving to try another nearby breakfast, but ultimately decided to stay and give them a try, as the 2 male employees waiting tables were extremely friendly and seemed to be working hard to turn around the bad first impression.
The place is cute, connected to the hotel next door...both with a fun vibe. Loving the menu and wanting to try multiple items, we ended up choosing too much and only making it through a fraction of our food. The eggs were tasty, bacon cooked well, potato pancake full of flavor, and pancakes fun. The guys were especially good about making the rounds with coffee refills.
Bummed to say I'm not sure if I'd return or not. The food was unique and enjoyable. Service provided from our waiter, great. But unfortunately first impressions are sometimes those that last longer.
