"Portland’s popular collection of Scandinavian restaurants extends east with this Hood River outpost, with a Nordic brunch menu that arguably tops the in-town offerings. Inside this dining room, tucked into downtown’s Hood River Hotel, diners can find rounded Danish aebleskiver pancakes with lingonberry jam or chevre-stuffed lefse topped with runny eggs, complemented by cardamom-scented coffee or a dill-aquavit-spiked bloody mary. During lunch, opt for gravlax-topped smørrebrød open-faced sandwiches or Swedish meatballs, particularly nice alongside flight of regional and international aquavit like Portland’s Krogstad, Älskar from Seattle, and Icelandic Brennivín." - Zoe Baillargeon, Molly Allen

"Though any Portlander could simply visit one of the Broder locations in Portland proper, the Hood River location of the Scandinavian standby remains one of the finest spots for a weekend brunch in the Gorge. Guests staying in the Hood River Hotel stroll down from their rooms into the adjacent restaurant, to sip on aquavit-spiked bloody marys and cardamom coffee before tucking into lefse, eggs baked with spinach and cream, or puffy little ebleskiver, Swedish pancakes served with lemon curd and lingonberry jam. For lunch, Broder’s gravlax smorrebrod — an open faced sandwich with cured salmon and shrimp salad — is a nice summer bite, while the hearty Swedish meatballs are an obvious, well-executed crowd-pleaser." - Melissa Haskin, Molly Allen

"If you plan to linger, get a table at Broder Ost, whose Hood River outpost is an extension of a Portland favorite for Scandinavian brunch. Delicate Danish pancakes arrive topped with lingonberry jam and a side of house-made lemon curd, while the breakfast boards provide a dose of Scandinavian-influenced charcuterie — think: smoked trout, rye crisps, and various fikas." - Katrina Yentch

The best breakfast experience I had during my trip to Colombia river gorge. This place is cozy and stylish and serves an amazing Swedish food. I had a Swedish breakfast board and loved every element of it. Rye bread, cheese, smoked trout and not too sweet granola yogurt- everything right to my taste! My husband loved his Swedish hash on a cute skillet as well. Nice place to have breakfast or brunch if you are in Hood River.

So cute! Love Broder in Portland, I was surprised to see it out here. Super cute and an easy yes for brunch. Tasty food and a nice variety of breakfast and lunch to keep everyone happy. One funny thing: The barista almost knocked me over when we were entering the space, and then he looked just mad the whole time and then he got our coffee orders wrong. Knocked a star for service, maybe he was just having a bad day. Everyone else was great. I like the location in the cute hotel. Sweet spot.

Great Brunch spot in hood River. We got lesfe breakfast with smoked Trout which was simplistic and kinda healthy 😁Swedish hash with smoked trout was also great. For drinks , we got an elderflower mimosa which was good but kinda overpriced. Swedish coffee was great. Overall a great place for Brunch! Drinks felt a little overpriced but food and the quality was great.

Found out about this place on a Reddit thread and I cannot be happier that I did. Everything we had was absolutely amazing. Drinks: The drinks were well thought out, proper cocktails, not your typical brunch cocktails made with juice or just thrown in liquors. Who ever made the cocktail list knows there stuff. Made with Scandinavian liquors and flavors. Food: The food was also tasty and unique. They use bread from a local bakery that is made with sourdough starter and I cannot stress enough how obsessed I was with it. The burger was perfectly made! We ordered it with chevre which was a white saucey cheese situation I was not familiar with and made for a unique burger that I have not tried before. I might have ordered cheddar cheese instead, personal preference, but that does not mean the chevre was not worth trying… it was delicious. We fought over who got the last Swedish meatball, spectacular! The Danish pancakes were very tasty, warm, and fluffy… along with a lingonberry jam and lemon curd we had them as “dessert”, very grateful our server persuaded us to order the 7 piece instead of 4 piece order. Ambiance: - Very pet friendly! - Our server was kind and very efficient, I wish I got his name. - Music was great and at a perfect noise level for conversation while still enjoying jams. - We went during 4th of July, they told us they had a 30 minute wait and called us back within less than that for a table. I could tell they had open tables but were short staffed and thus were slow to seat people. I appreciate they did a phone call list (you can walk around the town and come back when its your turn) rather than jam people in and make you wait for food. This is clearly a place that knows their stuff and won’t sacrifice food and experience quality. -Shout out to Ian, he was extremely hospitable and friendly. We were trying to figure out where to go next after Hood River and he went out of his way to recommend next places to visit, including lodging and pulling out a map of the “Fruit Loop” and circling where we should go and what activities do where.

Group of 6. For a mandatory 20% service charge, the waitress could've been more available. Food took a very long time to come out but was delicious and beautiful. The chicken sausage was fantastic, but the fritters were just okay. Would try again with just my spouse.

Google
I had the swedish breakfast bord. It was so good. I dont normally think of fish as breakfast food but the smoked salmon was so good. Loved the cheeses aa well and especially the soft cheese. The rye was so good along with the fika. The soft boiled egg was perfect as well. The granola was also really good. It was a little cozy restaurant. I definitely recommend it

Google
So goood!!!!!!!!!!! Started off with a dirty chai for me (one of the most spectacular dirty chais I’ve ever had.—-) Wife had a hot chocolate (with a bonus shot of espresso) topped with whipped cream. 10/10 presentation —- 11/10 taste & vibez. We shared the hot dog/ veggie hash/ pancakes——- not what I was expecting, but also spectacularly excellent!!!! Great vibe over here, would strongly recommend if you’re in the hood river area!!!!

Google
Not a great experience for us. Service was grumpy and nonexistent. Ordered: 1. swedish hash with short ribs - too salty. Don’t order ketchup coz it will be an extra $0.50 2. Swedish meatball - unremarkable, interesting flavor. The gravy is not usual gravy has a tanginess too it. I like the lingonberry jam. Presentation is good. Service is bad and unfriendly. And the receipt will ask for 20-30% tip. Ha! What a joke of service to expect 30% tip. Tipping is only a reward for great service. Will not recommend.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Broder Oats! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that made me feel right at home. The decor is charming and cozy, perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and quick. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and were always available to answer any questions with a smile. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a tasty lunch, Broder Oats has something to satisfy every palate. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be coming back for more!

Yelp
OMG!! I was so excited to try this place and I was NOT disappointed! I am Norwegian and my husband is Swedish. When looking for places to eat here in Hood River I found this place and because of our heritage we had to try it. I had the Lefse, (Norwegian crepe) with chèvre and a salad. I added the Lingonberry jam. It came with a perfectly dressed salad and an egg over easy. He got the Swedish Board it was amazing! Came with Chèvre, fruit, 2 cheeses, pickles, ham, and more. He loved his and we are still talking about it! The coffee was good and they bring warm frothed milk! The interior is super cute and clean. The server was so nice!! I can't say enough good about it! Hopeful to eat there again before we go home. Don't miss this place if you're in Hood River!

Yelp
Not the greatest first impression, but we ended up enjoying our food. We arrived for breakfast Sunday about 5 minutes before they were to open. Along with 3 other customers, we started to enter when an employee outside turned the sign to "open" and welcomed us in with him. We were quickly yelled at from behind the bar by the only female employee to go back out, that they weren't ready. We all exited... Cue the 2nd male employee approaching and turning the open sign while welcoming us all again, only to be told another NO by the clearly frustrated female employee. Each time the guys apologized to her and us, but at this point we were a tad turned off...not by the mistaken welcomes, but by the unwelcome feeling we were getting from her. Not until she approached and turned the sign herself did she allow us in, but with some sass and the impression we were being somewhat scolded, leaving us with a not-so-welcome taste in our mouths. We considered leaving to try another nearby breakfast, but ultimately decided to stay and give them a try, as the 2 male employees waiting tables were extremely friendly and seemed to be working hard to turn around the bad first impression. The place is cute, connected to the hotel next door...both with a fun vibe. Loving the menu and wanting to try multiple items, we ended up choosing too much and only making it through a fraction of our food. The eggs were tasty, bacon cooked well, potato pancake full of flavor, and pancakes fun. The guys were especially good about making the rounds with coffee refills. Bummed to say I'm not sure if I'd return or not. The food was unique and enjoyable. Service provided from our waiter, great. But unfortunately first impressions are sometimes those that last longer.

Yelp
All the things! Went here on a recent trip and the six of us got just about everything on the menu, including a few breakfast highballs. Everything here is so delicious, flavorful and absolutely well done. You leave satisfied, satiated, and with a smile on your face.

Hee Y.

Yelp
We arrived 12:20ish on a Saturday and put our name down for a party of 3. We were seated 15 min later. Of what we ordered, we really enjoyed the danish pancakes. We wish we had ordered the full order instead of half. The lefse was also really good as well as the baked egg scramble. It was a nice cozy vibe inside the restaurant. I was glad I didn't have to raise my voice at all to be heard. It's adjacent to a hotel, which provides for a nice waiting area.

Elaine L.

Yelp
Food is aaaamazing! Outdoor seating. Exceptional service. Lean on the staff for recommendations, they are a great resource.

Darbie E.

Yelp
I'm giving 5 stars for the service. I didn't catch our server's name, but he was so charming, patient, & helpful. We told him we were on an adventure to try this food that was new to us. He gave us some advice & suggestions and we love it! The sausage was a little dry, but the pickled onions & the beets on the eggs were SO good. The bread was delicious, too! There was more food than I could eat in one sitting!

Yelp
It's lovely to see Broder's expansion into new places, and the Hood River øst location offers folks something new and different. The spot is centrally located within walking distance to anything you need. Parking is normally ample, it seems, even on a busy Saturday downtown. The adjacent hotel is lovely, and surely guests who stay next-door should make this brunch location your go-to during the stay. We were lucky to be seated right away, but, the service felt rushed. The team of nice staff was always checking in on us, and would often leave before we had finished asking questions or submitting orders. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant right next to a few busy areas for staff, so its perhaps our proximity to the action that delivered our feeling of being rushed. The prices here seem better than in Portland, which made it easier for us to order several boozy drinks, starters, and entrées. I enjoyed the pancakes for the first time, and I was excited to learn that the seasonal fruit would be blueberry. Who doesn't love a local blueberry pancake in Scandi style?! There is plenty of space outside and in, so anyone will be able to enjoy their experience here. I would love to return in winter when the fireplace is working with cozier vibes.

Yelp
We ended up in Hood River when Mt. Hood Meadows was too crowded. We were all starving, plus it was my husband's birthday, so we decided to try Broder Ost. The wait was a little longer than we would have liked but it ended up being worth it! We all had the dark hot chocolate to start with. It was delicious-not too sweet and topped with real whipped cream. We shared a plate of aebelskievers, which came with lingonberry jam and lemon curd. Very tasty. I ordered the salmon cakes with a side of crispy smashed potatoes with thyme butter. The salmon cakes sat atop a bed of arugula delicately dressed with lemon. I was worried the salmon cakes might taste too fishy, but they were perfect! There was a tiny little bowl of house made pickled cukes & pickled beet, and a white tarter-like sauce. My husband for the normal burger and my son the Lindbergh burger. They said they were delicious. The staff were very professional and friendly.

Kim L.

Yelp
We arrived at the Hood River Hotel wicked late, sorta slept and decided we needed a good breakfast. Broder OST is located in the hotel and is just what we needed! Amazingly good coffee and a good menu with options. Impeccable service, thank you Clare. Mean, I asked her how you eat Danish pancakes and she didn't bat an eye. "However you want!" Friendly, warm, good food - what could be better!

L A.

Yelp
We just ate here, had a 30 minute wait for a table but we knew we were going to Broder as of the ones in Beaverton and Portland so we thought it would be worth it. We got lattes which were perfectly made. Our waiter was very unprofessional and didn't even bring us water. As far as the food, the hash with smoked trout was very tasteless, I poured down hot sauce to be able to eat it. The danish balls were very dense and not spongy fresh as they usually are. The lamb burger didn't smell or taste right. We had one "summer" cocktail which was made really good but very small for $15. The barista /bar tender is top notch 5/5 but service and food quality are nothing like your usual Broder. if it was just for my experience at the restaurant, I would've given it only two stars however, because of the bartender/barista , I can go up to 3.

April G.

Yelp
We were a group of 5 who got breakfast here at 10 AM post-wedding. We didn't have to wait awhile because we opted to sit outside (luckily the weather was nice and sunny). I ordered a Danish Bloody Mary and the breakfast board, which is a mini charcuterie board of yogurt, egg, bread, fruits, soft and hard cheese, salmon, ham, pickled veggies. The presentation of the board was so beautiful, and I loved every bite of food. The amount of food on the board was plentiful that I took some bread home to-go. The Danish Bloody Mary was delicious, a good spicy take on the traditional Bloody Mary. The drip coffee came with a small shot glass of steamed milk on the side-again, super cute display of food and drinks. The cost was breakfast was decent, especially the quality of the food, $14 for the Mary and $18 for the board. We tipped 25% because out waiter was the most pleasant, funny, and patient individual! It was our first time and his recommendations did not disappoint us. If we are in Hood River again, we will definitely be re-visting this place again for breakfast/brunch! The only reason I am giving 4/5 stars is because the table was small for a group that we had to quickly eat our meals in order to accommodate other ordered plates.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Fantastic service and food. There is always a long queue but that is expected. They were short staffed but were very cool and apologetic, so truly didnt bother us.

Kim G.

Yelp
Eggs, toast & pancakes with a Scandinavian twist! Having visited the Portland location many times, I was excited when they opened up a Hood River locarion and evidently so was everyone else! Long lines are common on weekends and during tourist season so I come midweek when there is little or no wait. Before I get to the food, lets talk aesthetics. The 2 story restaurant is beautiful! The simplicity and craftsmanship of the interior is the perfect backdrop to the gorgeous dishes served here. Everything is plated artistically including the cocktails. While there are so many items on the menu that look and are good, I tend to get the same thing because I love it so much! The baked egg scramble with applewood smoked bacon and whipped fig ricotta is a flavor bomb! Served with walnut toast from White Salmon Bakery, one of the best bakeries anywhere, is so satisfying and crave worthy that I tent to get it every time. And of course we get the aebleskivers (Danish pancakes) to share! Unlike American pancakes which tend to be heavy, the aebleskivers are so light and fluffy That you can have several without ripening stuffed. Dipped in the sweet & tart lemon curd and lingonberry jam they are the sweet component to compliment the savory for a perfect brunch meal. The edleflower spritz or lavender collins are unique & refreshing brunch cocktails that go perfectly with the food. Even though I get a cocktail, I always start with a coffee with cardamom cream which not many restaurants or coffee shops serve. I'm a sucker for anything with cardamom, especially coffee, and theirs is fantastic. They also serve lunch but brunch is always what I get.

Rachel R.

Yelp
100% recommend! Amanda and Quincy, you guys rock. Beautiful restaurant/hotel, incredible breakfast. Food came up so quickly and service cannot be beat! Cant wait to come back!

Amber D.

Yelp
We stayed at the Hood River hotel and this place was perfect for brunch the morning after! Service was absolutely excellent and the food and coffee are spot on! Cute little place with a charming dog-friendly patio. Definitely coming back.

Cristi F.

Yelp
There was a wait to sit, which was fine because reviews made it sound worth it. They said 20 minutes, took a little over 30. We ordered food and cocktails at the same time. After probably 15 minutes we heard the waitress call for our cocktails. Get those. Wait another good while on food, my husbands side is wrong (waitress says she entered it wrong, says she will bring it out). We finish the food we have which was meh. Then she brings out the most burnt/black potatoes I've ever seen. So we just ask for the check. The only reason for 2 stars is mimosa tasted like a mimosa and Bloody Mary was drinkable. Now I'm banned from picking restaurants the rest of the trip.

Action J.

Yelp
NEVER disappoints--always impresses! In every way. At every location. A purposeful stop in Hood River on my way to The Society Hotel in Bingen. Lefse, perfectly balanced cocktail, and vibe/people.

Patty W.

Yelp
The inside of the restaurant is charming. It's well appointed but quirky. The servers are likewise charming and quirky. One of the staff had on a mushroom shirt that designated him as a 'fungi' - and he was delighted about it. And the food and cocktails? It's not your every day breakfast. I loved that it's different. Corned beef hash is my go to breakfast order, and Broder Ost has its version of hash but smoked trout, short rib /ham, and veggie! I chose the smoked trout for its uniqueness and it didn't disappoint. So good, comes out with really great bread and butter and baked eggs. My husband opted for the pancakes which are aebleskiver (adorable and delectable round popover type pancakes). They're served with lingonberry jam and lemon curd. So good. He paired his breakfast with an Irish Coffee. Since I was fully loaded already on the caffeine, I went another route. My cocktail was a Whippet as I've been on a gin kick lately; i don't quite recall what it had in it but it was gin based with grapefruit.

Misty O.

Yelp
Cannot say enough good things about this place - ambiance, food and staff are all amazing!

Kitty D.

Yelp
Arrived on Black Friday around 1PM and was seated promptly. Had the BEST martini of my life (espresso martini) and a wonderful salmon cake. Such a charming place to get away and escape to comfort. Staff were also great.

Julie A.

Yelp
This place was so cute and the service was wonderful. Loved the different options and they had good WiFi. Would definitely return if ever back in the area.

Chere W.

Yelp
What a delightful place! Great menu with Scandinavian fare, reasonable prices and great service. Coffee was excellent too with the added touch of heated milk! I'll be back!

Guion S.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Service excellent. Highly recommend for authentic Scandinavian cuisine! Delicious.

Soren A.

Yelp
Fantastic menu and service. We were puzzled at first why we needed to wait 15 minutes and found plenty of available tables upstairs, but then I deduced that the full staff hadn't arrived.

Michael B.

Yelp
Great food and service! Enjoyed trying Swedish food for the first time and will come back the next time I am in town.

Sherry Z.

Yelp
Went around lunch time on a weekend day and the wait was around 20 minutes. Not a problem, plenty of little shops around to explore and kill time. Staff were friendly and generally very helpful. Got a latte and my friend an espresso. They were out of a few of their burgers which is what my first choice would have been. They serve breakfast and lunch all day long. Got the lefse breakfast (potato crepes) and the salmon fishcakes. Coffee: The latte was initially very bitter but mellowed out pretty quickly. They come with little sugar cubes if you want some extra sweetness. Never ended up needing it and would say it was a decent latte. Food: There ended up being a long wait for the food and while both dishes were tasty, the portions are small for the cost. We weren't tremendously hungry, but if we were it would be easily at least 2 dishes for each of us to fill us up. Maybe a burger would have been more substantial. Of the two dishes I recommend the salmon fishcakes, much more variation in terms of texture and flavors than the lefse breakfast.

JT T.

Yelp
We ordered hash, Danish pancakes, and coffee. The coffee was weird-tasting, kind of oily but also kind of weak. The hash was decent, if a little scant in portion size. My favorite, and the reason this gets 4 stars instead of 3, was the Danish pancakes. They were light and fluffy, not too sweet. The ligonberry jam was a perfect complement.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Outstanding breakfast at Broder OST! Definitely worth the wait! I ordered the Swedish Breakfast Board and it was super tasty. My husband ordered the Lefse breakfast which was also tasty. Their coffee is also very, very good AND they provide real cream, which is important for a good cup of coffee. Highly recommend!

Alex M.

Yelp
The minute my family and I walked into Broder Øst we were welcomed to a relaxing Scandi oasis in downtown Hood River. The floor to ceiling bar has a selection of aquavit that would make a Norwegian royal blush. We started with lovely lingonberry and elderflower mimosas. My wife loved her Swedish meatballs on brioche bun. The potato pancake was on point (especially when used to mop up the secret sauce from the meatballs). I was in Valhalla when my gravlax smørrebrød arrived on seedy bread with salmon, dill, and a seafood salad with a soupçon of pickled garnishes. Our toddlers enjoyed sharing our meals, and the staff were very accommodating with our family. Don't overthink this one. If you're looking for breakfast or lunch in town make sure and give Broder Øst a shot because they will not disappoint.

Cec K.

Yelp
Such a Hood River vibe - casual and unique! Attentive staff, great food. Perfect Sunday brunch (because I could have the Lost Eggs and my husband could have Swedish Meatballs!) Highly recommend this!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
I could eat here weekly. Love their bord with smoked trout, yogurt and granola, egg and pickled veg and cheeses. Also love their coffee and breakfast cocktails. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff are so kind and knowledgeable. The food is delicious.

Cianna B.

Yelp
Came here on a chilly morning during a weekend getaway to Hood River. We arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and were told it would be about a 30 minute wait for outdoor seating or 45 minutes for indoor. We were interested in sitting outside, so we gave them out number and walked around town. They called us 40 minutes later and got us seated outside. We had the patio to ourselves and a little heater to keep us warm. We got some warm drinks and aebleskiver to get us started. I had a Holland fog, a spiked London fog. It was tasty and beautifully presented. Our party also had a great chai and a spiked Sweedish coffee. The aebleskiver was delicious as always and the fresh lemon curd really makes it. The lefse preparation was a great way to have lefse. My partner got his with smoked trout that was flavorful but not fishy. The burger was solid and had tasty blue cheese. The real winner was the spicy smashed potatoes! They were crispy and salty and so tasty with a fluffy marjoram cream sauce on top, we'll definitely be getting those again on our next visit.

Julia K.

Yelp
Great ambiance, welcoming and friendly staff, the food was simple and clean, made with quality ingredients which makes a huge difference!

Amy D.

Yelp
Update: I didn't get pictures of the food this time. I did, however, learn that the lingonberry mimosa kills, and every good soul deserves one. The service and food were incomparable, just like the last time we came in. Absolutely the only place in downtown HR that I find worth it to brave tourists over. Thank you, Broder Øst!

Olga S.

Yelp
Unfortunately not a good experience this time. We we're so excited to come back! It was supposed to be a highlight of our trip! We woke up early and were first in line! One of the staff members came out and was setting up the tables, casting us looks indicating that we were on his way. No hello, or smile. He was our waiter and while I was ordering and asked for suggestions - he seemed impatient and made a rude remark. It seemed to us that we were being punished for being indecisive - had to wait a long time and people who came after us were getting their food way ahead of us. The person who brought the food ( young man in the hat) was nice and smiled - what a relief! The food was delicious. Service - not so much....

Heather B.

Yelp
This is a must stop if you're in Hood River! Had an amazing brunch here. Highly recommend the donuts!

Jay S.

Yelp
An amazing gem whose food quality is on par with Stockholm restaurants, in a super cozy setting perfect for a cool or damp day outside. Though there was a fifteen minute wait for a weekday late lunch, we were called on our cellphone after signing up at the wait stand, and able to browse the charming nearby galleries and shops while waiting. The wait staff were extremely friendly and hard working. We loved the look of so many menu items that we ordered more than enough for ourselves. The shrimp salad sandwich with gravlax, the smoked herring and trout board with excellent crackers, the very mushroomy and hearty (though a bit salty) soup, smoked salmon soup, and most of all the round puffy light danish pancakes with their lemon curd, maple syrup and lingonberry dips were all very satisfying and perfectly executed. We loved this place so much that we went to their sister restaurants in Portland the next few days! Really worth visiting.

Fiona K.

Yelp
I've been to the other locations in Portland, but this was my first time at the Hood River location and it certainly won't be my last! We ordered the lost eggs and Swedish hash and both were delicious! Don't let the appearance fool you, it's definitely more food than it appears! Service was friendly and prompt, and they were great with questions about food allergies. I also ordered the Bloody Mary with dill aquavit and highly recommend, especially if you think bloody Mary's are never spicy enough. This one had an almost horseradish-like kick that I thought was so tasty. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

Andrew A.

Yelp
If Broder isn't already worthy enough, the location inside of a quaint hotel takes them up another notch. I liked, but didn't love the Swedish Hash with trout. The Aebleskiivers were awesome, and the potato pancake was super delish. Maybe veer from the norm and order a Swedish Coffee. One server and bartender/barista were very friendly, another a bit stoic and rushed.

Georgia L.

Yelp
This is a very unique and can't miss breakfast and brunch spot! We came on a Saturday so had to walk around town a bit while waiting for a table to be ready. The wait wasn't as long as predicted and the service was very friendly! We each got an entree (Lefse Breakfast and Baked Eggs platter) and split Aebleskivers. We really enjoyed our time here and are looking forward to returning.

RN R.

Yelp
Not sure what it is about HoodRiver, but all the service we encountered just seemed like no one wanted to be there. Broder Øst was no exception. The food was okay, nothing i've thought about since, but I would go back to try something else. Maybe just go for the food and not for the service.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Delicious & Great Customer Service ~ I want to turn back time and eat it again Shared hash w/smoked trout & aebleskiver (pancakes) ~ perfection!

Michelle D.

Yelp
We ate here for a late brunch and really enjoyed the food. Comforting yet fresh ingredients. Loved the variety on the menu. Server was kind. The whole place is so charming, highly recommend.

J C.

Yelp
My spouse and I recently visited Broder OST in Hood River, Oregon, eager to experience Nordic breakfast for the first time. Our expectations were surpassed. I opted for the beef short rib hash with baked eggs, while my wife tried The Lost Eggs--two eggs baked with spinach, cream, Parmesan, and breadcrumbs. To add to our delight, we savored the Ableskivers, Dutch pancakes. The entire meal was fantastic, complemented by impeccable service.

Katy H.

Yelp
Sunday morning and we waited 45 minutes for a table. The wait was worth it when we saw how beautiful our food looked. The Lost Eggs and Danish Pancakes were quite tasty and filling. Powdered sugar tastes weird to me so I wish I knew to ask for the pancakes without. The jam and lemon curd on the side were great. I didn't even need the extra maple syrup. My partner's dish was good though with some incredibly salty bits. He also tried the aquavit which was quite a memorable experience. The service and atmosphere were lovely as well. All in all a pleasant experience.

Claire E.

Yelp
We dined here while staying at the Hood River Hotel for a wedding! The bride and groom joined us for brunch the day before their big day and it was the perfect place to celebrate!! Delicious, authentic food and wonderful service! Perfect location as well!

Hyunwoo J.

Yelp
One of the best hidden spots if you're ever visiting Hood River. Wait time was short even if it was a busy summer lunch hour. I would say that the selection of fish was vast on the menu and fresh, considering we were next to a beautiful river. The location is tucked in a hotel so it's worth staying there too should anyone decide to make a trip down there and get some good local food in. I'll say that I'm quite picky with food but it was to a point where I forgot to take a picture of what I was eating. For sure I will update the review once I head back up there as it's worth the drive and scenery!

Yelp
I wish I had captured more images of the food, but you know it's that good when you forget! To start, the first sip of their bloody mary and I was like, this might be the best bloody mary I've ever tasted. That is saying a lot because I make bloody marys from scratch. But also, the coffee was divine. I asked for a drip coffee with some of their house-made cardamom cream and thought to myself, why am I just realizing this is a thing, Cardamom Creamer! Okay now to the food... We split the Danish Pancakes because they are beautiful but wanted all the breakfast noms. I also ordered the Swedish Hash with house-smoked trout. This came with a walnut toast from White Salmon Baking Co. This meal was so perfectly balanced with the flavors and I never knew I could love a smoked fish so much. Moreover, I extra love when small businesses support one another. I will be back. This was one of the first restaurants I tried upon moving to Hood River. I made this decision solely based on recommendations and reviews and there is a reason it's so highly rated. It's a magical dining experience for the soul, tummy, and taste buds.

Yelp
This place is a true gem of hood river. The inside of the restaurant is Nordic and very charming. The food was delicious! The Danish pancakes were just incredible. They were firm and crispy on the outside and warm and almost gooey on the inside. The jam that came along with them was so good. They were like little puffs of heaven. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! It had local mushrooms and onions which were to die for. It has a very strong mushroom flavor so make sure you like mushrooms before ordering this dish. The bread had excellent bite. The Lefse breakfast with with trout lake is like a delicious bagels lox and cream cheese except elevated, delicate, and everything you could want an a savory breakfast. All in all we had an amazing brunch here and cannot wait to return.
