Chicago’s Biggest Restaurant and Bar Closings, Winter 2024 - Eater Chicago

"Local mini-chain Broken English Taco Pub is closed after seven years at 2576 N. Lincoln Avenue, reps announced in early January on Instagram. The third iteration of Adolfo Garcia and Phil Stefani’s taco-focused cantina marked by a frenetic approach to design, the restaurant opened in 2017 following sister spots in the Loop and Old Town, which remain open." - Ashok Selvam

We ordered the quesadillas and the nachos for lunch, to share. It was plenty of food and good sized portions. I love their hot sauce & salsa options too! The service is quick and friendly and the restaurant is super cool, the decoration and vibe are pretty fun! There's even pinatas and some cool art.

Came in here around 3pm and it was great. Not busy at all. The server was very attentive and always stopped to check on us. The food was great as always. I had the mucho good greens bowl with carne asada. It was very flavorful and tasty. I definitely will come back.

This place is a vibe or in more review friendly words, its very nice! The atmosphere is very nice cool and swanky. My only complaint is the restrooms. It is very little access or no access and not a lot of space. I didn't take a picture of our tacos but you must get 12 tacos for $50 and get them all! They are lip smackin!

Updated review: The manager reached out and asked to give them another try. I appreciated how they took my feedback seriously and tried to make things right. I’m especially glad they did because we ended up loving this place. In all honesty, I thought the food was going to fall short on flavor in an attempt to modernize tacos. I was absolutely wrong. The fusion/contemporary take on traditional tacos is done well and I’m not one to lean away from authentic dishes. We tried all of the tacos and our favorites were fried chicken, cod, carnitas, and purple potato. It sounds basic but the fried chicken taco is incredible, so crispy and topped with an amazing sauce. The carnitas here is the best I’ve had and so juicy. Vegetarian or not, the ay papasito taco is a must try. It’s seasoned so perfection and the crunchy shell adds a nice contrast to the filling. On top of how good the food is, this place has great vibes and the staff here are so friendly. Would definitely come back! Original review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was a let down. Ordered a horchata and quesadilla la gringa. Horchata was super sweet to the point it started making me feel sick and this is coming from someone who has a sweet tooth. They were able to replace the chicken in the quesadilla with cauliflower which I greatly appreciated. The quesadilla has potential, however the cauliflower was undercooked and crunchy which was off putting. I also feel like the quesadilla could have used something else like a topping or sauce to make it stand out. I was hoping for a better experience so I can return to try their tacos but now I’m not so sure.

Nice place. Came for a quick bite. The nachos were huge! Very yummy. The tacos were good but small for the price. They had good flavor though. The potato taco was the best!

This is my one of our favorite spots to come for drinks and a bite to eat. We love the atmosphere and we have always had great service. The tacos are all really yummy. Also the orange salsa they serve is my favorite. It has ginger and cinnamon in it. The flavor is unique and goes well with the shrimp tacos.

Very colorful decor. The guacamole is among my top 5. The tacos were good. You get a better amount of the chicken and beef than you do of the shrimp. The margaritas are tasty and there is a nice selection of beers.

I've been here a few times and worked through their menu and it's been pretty hit or miss for me. High on presentation but not as good as the price tag suggests (this is a ten dollar for 2 tacos place). Today, I had fried chicken tacos with ghost pepper sauce... so greasy it made me feel ill, and not spicy at all. Couldn't eat much of it.Then I had carne asada tacos ... The meat tasted like it was stewed in a slow cooker rather than grilled, to the point I thought I got the wrong tacos. To their credit, they were pretty nice to me abd attentive. Friendly people here. And their mixed drinks are great. But I'm just not feeling it. I hate paper straws. I also dislike QR Code menus. But I was mainly a let down by the food.
