Eden East Will Remain Open Despite Springdale Farm’s Impending Closure | Eater Austin

"I was reassured by chef Sonya Coté that Eden East, the farm-to-table restaurant operating at the Springdale Road address since it sprouted up on the property in 2013, will remain open and continue business as usual while working with the land's new owners to maintain a portion of the property as a farm. As the signature restaurant of award-winning Sonya Coté—who also runs Hillside Farmacy and Sinclair in Clifton, Texas—Eden East will continue to offer its restaurant and event space as a community gathering place and was born from collaborative efforts with Austin’s local food community to showcase grower/chef partnerships." - Erin Russell

My mother lived here. She loved it. The staff are very friendly and the community of people have different activities such as Bingo, cornhole, crafts, coffee shop, and dining room and a bus that will take the residents to outings.

Highly recommend not putting your family member here unless they are fully independent. While Brookdale states they are an assisted living facility and offers assistance services for an additional fee of hundreds of dollars a month, they cannot be counted on to provide those services. If your loved one needs any assistance, they would be better off elsewhere. Edit: I’m not able to reply to the facilities comment, so I’m editing to add that I spoke up every single time there was an issue and nothing was ever corrected, and in fact got increasingly worse. The final straw was I was lied to in a text message (aka in writing) about the care of my family member and what they were currently doing for him in that moment when he was not even at the facility at that time due to an emergency room visit caused by their lack of care. I’ve since moved my family member so there’s nothing additional to address.

Brookdale Eden Estates is the nicest facility for the price in the DFW area. The staff is amazing and truly cares about the community. The residents are engaged and happy to be there; they’re always in the game room or chatting in the halls or courtyard. The employees host several events throughout the year where residents can get their families involved, such as a summer cookout and Mother’s Day brunch. My dad has lived here for 10 years, and while it’s a bit of a drive from our house, we feel comfortable that he’s in good care.

My mother lived her nearly 2 years, and it was a wonderful stay. Peggy helped me find the perfect apartment for my mother, and assisted me in so many different ways. She made the transition very smooth. Jason did an excellent job of monitoring my mother's health and keeping me informed about any issues. All the staff were wonderful. There are many scheduled events, and there is one special event per month, such as the 1920s dance, car show with ice cream, luau, etc. I saw people complained about the food, but I did not see any issues.

I have been the hairstylist at Brookdale Eden Estates for almost twenty years. It has been the most rewarding time in my thirty five year career of doing hair. Taking care of the residents' hair, either assisted living or independent living, is a pleasure. As long as I have worked here, we have always had a wonderful, friendly, helpful and happy staff to take care of the residents. Many have worked here for many years. The residents are a wonderful group of people and many of them have lived here for many years. I actually did one customer's hair for eighteen years. They are very friendly and helpful to one another. There is always some kind of activity going on. Just this evening, one group of residents were going out to eat while others were going to watch a movie together. It is a great place and I love it. I look forward to going to work each and every day! The residents aren't just my customers but my friends. I plan on working here until I retire.
