An Appreciation of Brooklyn Delhi’s Simmer Sauces - Eater

"Brooklyn Delhi’s sauces, made by chef and author Chitra Agrawal, are as close as you can get to homemade in a jar. They’re vegan concentrates of spices, onions, nut butters, and coconut milk. Agrawal explicitly encourages you to cook with them, offering recipes on her website using the simmer sauces such as saag paneer with coconut cashew korma sauce, or butter masala mac and cheese with tikka masala sauce." - Jaya Saxena

Great Power

Google
Yesterday prices, “ain’t” today prices. 13bucks for a Bacon, Egg, & Cheese on roll with a small coffee. Called for pick up was ready in 5mins. My sandwich and coffee were good. Quick, convenient, good. No issues.

Google
Decent food, nothing fancy or amazing but it's cheap and edible. They have other items at reasonable prices too. I would recommend if you need a quick, cheap bite. Just don't expect anything mind blowing.

Google
Stopped in for a deli sandwich. They grill it and make it all right there. These guys are fun and make the experience. Had a great conversation, enjoyed the food so much that we went back the next day for another sandwich. Two sandwiches, a tall boy for $25. You can’t dine in. I would highly recommend.

Google
Amazingly affordable food including Boars Head meats. Super friendly owner, too.

Google
I went to this spot to buy a grilled chicken wrap and they gave me the skinniest wrap ever. Barely any chicken and thick Kraft cheese. I asked for a whole wheat wrap and they gave me plain, so they clearly don’t pay attention to what you actually want. Overall if you want to over pay for food that doesn’t match quality of what you’re paying for go to this store. And to top it off! I got a horrible stomachache right after I ate this!!!!

Google
Sandwich bar is delicious. Try the Chopped Cheese or the pastrami. However, I noticed charges on my credit card that seem to be overpriced based on the products. A jug of water + Perrior micky + juice + 2 sandwiches for $52 doesnt seem right.

Google
I've ordered their products online.. great chutneys & curries. Well packaged & shipped. Delicious!!

Google
Charged me $15 for a bagel and water. Tried 1 more time to see if it was a fluke but said they closed but he just smoking out front with homies. Kick rocks

Yelp
Scamming with prices. Dark dirty place. Over charged me for a sandwich that had one egg, cheese and salami on white bread. Didn't even tell me how much to pay. Just pushed his machine and said "here" never coming here again.

Yelp
I have lived in NY for over 30 years and this is by far the most expensive bodega I have ever encountered. That inlcudes the the Korean deli around the corner from my apartment when I lived in Tribeca. You would have to be crazy to order food from here let alone just buy a drink. Stay away and save some money by walking another block.

Yelp
If your looking for an authentic deli that you would imagine to be in Brooklyn NY this is it. Small and convenient right next door to our hotel. The prices aren't too bad either but the food is the star of the show. Every bite was a piece of fat girl heaven. Enjoy

Yelp
The most overpriced deli ever . $5.10 for a Celsius cmon . Overpriced on the food and coffee too

Yelp
This was our corner store while we stayed in NYC. It was right down the street from the hotel. Super easy to get to. The old guy on the grill at nights is wonderful, super friendly. The rest of the crew there were the same. No issues on getting what we needed to get. Food was good. Definitely stop in if you need something here.

Yelp
I arrived at my hotel and settled into my room, tired after an 18 hour travel day from Alaska. I wandered down to the pub below my hotel for a quick drink and an appetizer to wind down with, but alas, they had just done the last call. I stepped outside to see what I could see, and like a beacon in the night, I saw the "Brooklyn Deli" glowing, an oasis in a desert of the unknown. I walked a very short distance from my hotel and was greeted by a few friendly locals hanging outside smoking and an even warmer shopkeep and sandwich maker. I looked around and was pleasantly surprised at the beverage selection, fortified and not. I pondered the sandwich board and made a quick decision. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich which came out fast, was hot, on a tasty bun with the perfect amount of lettuce, mayo, and tomato. Grabbed water and a beer and went on my merry way! I ended up going back to this little establishment a few times on my visit to Brooklyn for some other emergent needs that came up. Absolutely a great little shop!

Yelp
Convenient little deli located in Brooklyn Heights! They have an extensive menu for sandwiches, wraps, etc. I was starving and needed something quick for lunch so I decided to stop by. I ordered the Deluxe Ham and it was delicious. Fresh ham, savory cheese, and soft bread with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and mayo. It may sound simple but it was nicely made and everything was fresh. It was much better than expected and so much more flavorful than Subway. If you're looking for a quick meal or just want to grab a snack, then this is the place. They sell muffins, chocolate croissants, chips, drinks, etc. The staff is also very friendly and attentive so you can get in and out within 5-10 mins.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE! Meat is not washed and my wife and I both got HORRENDOUS food poisoning. Stay away at all costs.

Juan P.

Yelp
They put 0 love in making or trying to make your food taste good. I ordered a chicken cutlet and literally it was a tiny simple cutlet with absolutely no lettuce or anything jus a tiny tomato sliced on top of a thin slice of cheese so the whole time I just stated Bread. Thats not the only issue they taxxxxx for no reason. 2 occasions i go in one item $2 another item $2.50 total of 4.50-$5 (as price tag showed) , I went to pay with apple pay and the total they pressed was $7.50 like where the whole $2.50 come from? Iget that card takes up a few more cents but they know what they doing. Be careful...!!

Yelp
I'm traveling from LA and I ran into this deli on my way out in the morning and was contemplating because of the ratings. I ended up at another deli around the corner that was very rude and food was not good. As I got back to my hotel I decided to give this one a shot and was amazed of how good the ham sandwich was and the service was amazing. They clearly could tell I was not from here and asked which bread I wanted and everything. Will definitely return they also sell a variety of things and single beers which I thought was cool!

Yelp
The most disgusting deli I've ever been to. I went here on Christmas Day because I forgot to buy milk. I went in and while there I ordered two bacon, egg, and cheeses on a bagel. Disgusting. The "bacon" (which I pray it was) was nothing but fat I had to take all of it off the sandwich. The "cheese" was not cheese, it was runny. Luckily they wore masks while making food, I'll give them 1 star for that.

Yelp
Good beer selection for a bodega. So far everything I've gotten here (except for maybe the beer) has been overpriced. BEC not great.

Yelp
First of all, this place is labeled BROOKLYN DELI, so there's that. I got a Turkey Sandwich from them. Just your typical deli. Nothing too special about it. Apparently they have a nice beer selection, but I wasn't paying attention to that.

Yelp
Mmmmphh. I'm fair. I usually frequent this place about 6:20 in the morning for a quick something before work so I shouldn't expect white glove service with a smile.

Yelp
Food was purchased on the go, last stop before headed back to ct. had to get the New York deli sandwich and the different flavor Snapple's that I can only find I'm nyc. I got the turkey egg and cheese and it was hot, bread soft and basically perfect!

Yelp
The breakfast sandwich and beef pattie signs always intrigue me but I really stopped here on a diet soda run. (I'm that person who leaves a hotel to go to a corner store when they feel the price is too high.) I stopped to oogle the very nice beer selection as others have mentioned but it was 1 in the afternoon so we stuck with a diet pepsi. Greatest thing ever though, dude gave me this tiny bag to put my soda in and a straw. All bottled soda should be served like this.

Yelp
I go here pretty often since I live across the street The sandwiches are always good, everything feels pretty well priced It's 4 stars because occasionally my orders get a little messed up. That being said, I order very specific things, and considering how often I order, it's not a large percentage of times. I just recommend being clear with what you want and not being afraid to confirm it's right before they make it - Also, do yourself a favor and call them to order. You can use Postmates or something, but I've noticed sometimes they don't get pick up orders in their system that way

Yelp
Convenient location to a recent hotel stay. Open 24 hours , good selection of soda, beer and snacks. Ordered the Greek omelet combo for 5.95, large enough to share with my wife. Posted pictures.

Yelp
About the 5 stars. Those 5 stars are not really for Metro Deli. It's a fine establishment for sure, but there are probably a million and one places just like it in every borough. The 5 stars are for the abundance of amazing breakfast sandwiches in NYC, and this just so happens to be the place where my conglomerate and I would re-up on them. The breakfast sandwich is simple in itself, a roll of bread with some cheese, scrampled eggs, and either sausage, bacon, or pastrami. At the same time, the combination is so much more, what with the magical quality of the bread and the complementing breakfast tastes; it really starts off your day on the right foot. There is really no equivalent out here in Cali. The only thing that comes close is the sausage mcmuffin, and that's just sad.

Yelp
Great little deli and store! We stopped in to get some breakfast sandwiches and they were really good! Reasonably priced for New York. Recommend to anyone looking for a quick, delicious breakfast or lunch item.

Yelp
Very clean deli and food is not bad. There breakfast special of 2 eggs on a roll with cheese, home fries and drink for $3.99 can't be beat anywhere around. Also a extra side of home fries is only $0.99 wow!! The deli counter uses boars head cold cuts and prepared foods looks quality to. So if you are in the mood for a nice cheap meal around here. Stop in and grab something to go. No seating of course

Yelp
Service = great. Beer selection = awesome. Food = OK. Bagels = meh. I work in the area, so I'll obviously be back. The fact that it's far less sketchy than other delis in the vicinity gives it the edge over the competition.

Yelp
Muhammad, the late night guy, is great! Very nice! Was my go-to destination whenever I needed sustenance after a late-night bartending shift in Downtown Brooklyn. The turkey bacon was a little funny, but then again so is its concept. Service was always fast, polite, and they even have a fair selection of craft beers. If I end up back in BK, I'll be sure to hit this place up again for late night munchies when nothing else will do!

Yelp
This Deli will sell alcohol to kids [not to me] but to some of my neighbors who look 14 years old but they don't get card. I have witnessed it. Other than that, I think this deli is too small. Their Arizona cans are pretty dusty. The deli's primary revenue is the lottery. But their counter is always messy and unprofessional. There are lotto tickets everywhere. It's more like a cheap run down bodega. Also their deli sandwiches are kinda 0.50 cents more than the usual.

Saira A.

Yelp
Great deli! I can pick up anything I need at any time...Very convenient and fresh food, nice people behind the counter as well!

Yelp
Dark and overpriced. This place is good for picking up a newspaper and that is about it.

Alex S.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast sandwiches in the back of a convenience store with most everything that you need for the day like drinks snacks beer etcetera.
