This is my local grocerier and as much as we’d love to support them over TJs or WF the pricing gouging is out of control. The quality of prepared foods has gone down and the pricing has skyrocketed (items are an average of $1-3+ more expensive than WF). $23 for strawberries? TWENTY THREE DOLLARS?!?! (Same type were $8 at WF - which is still a rip. See photos). I mean, FFS. I can’t believe they had the audacity to print and post that price. Convenience is the only thing they offer and I only shop there if I’m desperate these days. Also you have to check everything that gets scanned as a lot of time the sale prices don’t register or pricing comes up completely different than what is listed. ALSO, check the expiration dates - more than once have a found old, expired products on the shelves. It’s a shame because it’s a nice, clean store with a good selection/variety but it feels like a battle every time I shop there.

Google
This place is fine in a pinch because it’s a block away from my apartment but honestly the prices on a lot of the items are complete insanity. Sometimes the price is different when you check out too. I grabbed asparagus that said 4.50 and it was 12 dollars when I checked out. White potatoes said 1.49/lb and when I checked out they were 2.99/lb. Also, all of the employees are super rude and not very helpful. There’s a Trader Joe’s and a Lidl 2-3 blocks away. Just save your money and go there.

Google
Every time I try to buy something that has a sale sign stating a discounted price, it is rung up at full price. Other than that, most of the items prices are not listed. This is pretty basic for exploitative, New York City, grocery stores, to either state a price and then Hope the customer doesn’t bring up that they’re being charged more for it, or not tell them how much it costs at all so that the inconvenience of talking to somebody about and self-advocating pressured them into paying more. Hate this.

JP Riggins

Google
Two stars for convenience, but this place markets themselves as “high end” and then now refrigerates produce like tomatoes, onions + garlic. That should tell you all you need to know. It is true that their prices are high end I guess. Like other reviewers have mentioned you need an eagle eye and great memory because the listed prices often don’t match what shows up at the register. They will honor the listed price, but it happens so much it really feels intentional. It’s a shame because the store itself is very nice Edit: I added one more star because the onions, garlic + *most* tomatoes are back out of the refrigerated section.

Google
Terrific grocery store with many great choices. Fresh cheeses, vegetables, meats etc.... Prices are reflective of a smaller shop, but the service is good. Nice bakery section and good produce section. Packaged food has many options. They have a nice selection of house made salads as well as a fresh salad bar.

Google
I tried this place twice, My first experience was buying Fresh sliced boars head cold cuts at the deli. Upon bringing them home, the turkey breast was very slimy and had to be thrown out. My second try was for 2 quarts of half-and-half. When I opened The first one, it was all big white chunks that came out. I tried the second one, same thing. They both had to be dumped into the sink and dissolved with hot water. Total waste of time and money with the store, I will never go back again

Google
I just had the worst and weirdest experience trying to purchase a poorly and wrongly labeled pasta and they made me look like I was the one reading it wrong, no sense of accountability. I spent over 10 minutes trying to pick the right pasta . Freaking 5 dollars pasta, not even an apology or a sense of accountability, they were looking at me like I did something wrong because I wanted to buy the pasta as it was labeled. No one asked them to do a promo, so I’m confused why they wouldn’t acknowledge or take accountability for wasting my time …

My #1 source for Sweetened Vanilla Pistachio milk. Great selection products overall. Store environment and service is top notch.

Yelp
This has been my (very) local grocery store for over a decade, and unfortunately it has taken a steep turn downhill. What was once a family-owned, excellent grocery store run by wonderful people who cared is now a Key Food with a different name. I mean that literally; they were bought by Key Food during the pandemic, and they laid off all the employees (that we loved), brought in more self-checkout, and the quality of the produce has fallen off a cliff, while the prices have climbed to extortionist levels. For the most part, the replacement staff is quite nice and usually helpful (there are a couple bad apples that seem upset you need assistance). The guys behind the prepared food counter will do a solid job on your sandwich, and the cashiers are usually pleasant and almost always efficient. They still have a rewards program where if you spend around $250 and you get like $10 credit. (Hey, it's better than nothing.) The expansion of the store a few years back means they truly have just about everything, and the beer and ice cream selections are actually phenomenal (but overpriced). However, produce we buy is occasionally going bad already, and the prices are wildly out of control. I paid $7 for two onions last week. It becomes harder and harder to justify shopping here when it's more expensive than Fresh Direct, and vastly more pricey than the fruit and vegetable spots a few blocks away. I don't risk the meat and fish any longer (not with Paisanos and Fish Tales in the hood), although Bell & Evans chicken is quite reliable. Basically, Brooklyn Fare went from an incredible market to have across street to a last-resort for items I forgot to purchase elsewhere in the neighborhood, at reasonable prices. They know we're coming in when we need something, and we're going to pay for it. Despite these shortcomings, it's still great to have a corner store that has just about everything. I can still run out and grab some milk for my wife's cookies when I've finished the last drop and she looks particularly stabby. But it's going to cost $7 for half a gallon.

Yelp
i need to warn people about this place bc i did a grocery shop here and it looks like they have all these good brands that ill get at a co-op or other spots, but a lot of what i got was rancid. i got some mozzerella cheese and the expiration date was in 2 weeks or so and it was ROTTEN. Then i got the vegan sausage that i often get at other stores and the texture was nasty and off. its like they get the rotted batches of brands. some of the veggies i got were decent and obviously non perishables (popcorn etc) were fine, but do not trust anything perishable here

Yelp
I go to a Brooklyn Fare since it's in my hood. I usually get halal salami with provolone & coleslaw on a seeded hero with mustard. They make the best sandwiches with lots of toppings plus you get a small bag of chips & a can of soda for under $10.00! You can't beat it! Their chicken cutlet is also my second favorite with broccoli slaw & bacon. A Great & economical deli to check out if ur DT Brooklyn!

Yelp
This is the closest grocery store to me, so 99% of the time I stop in out of convenience. I actually get legitimately annoyed having to come here. And it's sad, because when I first moved to the area, this was a great place. First up, the woman manager might actually be the worst customer service employee I have ever encountered. I once went in to get some baking ingredients, and the discount didn't ring up at the self-service register (which, we'll get to that). She seemed extremely pissed off at me for...buying things? She had me move to a cashier, a younger guy who was very friendly. Something was up with the register, and it took a little longer than expected. Not a big deal. The manager was berating the employee, literally telling him he was ruining her day and that he was an idiot. She's also always working, looking pissed off and mouthing off to the staff. I get that customer service is awful (I've worked my share of service jobs), but I don't know, maybe consider a different career if you can't even treat your staff members with respect? Management aside, the prices here on some things are actually offensive. I get that inflation is crazy at the moment, but Brooklyn Fare is price gouging to the point where "we're a local store!" is a complete BS excuse. $7.50 for a package of Oreos? $9 for a standard package of butter? $7 for eggs? When the other stores in the area are selling these things for almost HALF the price, you're absolutely insane if you think it's acceptable to charge people that much money. The self-service checkout doesn't ring up discounts half the time. After entering my phone number (for the store reward points) for nearly a year, I was surprised to learn that...those points were never added to my account. I've also routinely found things on the shelf that are expired. For a store whose ONE JOB is to sell groceries, it can't seem to do anything right.

Yelp
Gotta be honest, it took me a while to appreciate Brooklyn Fare. It's cluttered and the aisles are tight, plus you're always dodging the workers who seem to be restocking into perpetuity - not a recipe for a stress-free grocery shopping experience. However, Brooklyn Fare proved to be clutch and absolutely essential during the pandemic, and I now will always have a soft spot for it. While so many stores were struggling to keep basic items on the shelves, Brooklyn Fare was abundantly stocked during the worst point for the country. Fresh meat, herbs, and veggies, dried/canned goods, beeeeeeeeeer - they had it all. The floor-to-ceiling inventory they keep on hand for many items probably helped, but I was truly grateful for this store. Times are fortunately (mostly) back to normal now, but I still go to Brooklyn Fare for the essentials. It's not perfect by any means (make sure to check expiration dates), but they have just about everything you need and then some. I am grateful for it.

Hesham S.

Yelp
All the produce is rotting on the shelves. Often it's moldy, and in some cases, comes with pests. I debated posting photos of moldy, rotting fruit -- but thought it to be in poor taste. Avoid. It's not the Brooklyn fare you remember.

Yelp
During Covid Brooklyn Fare was acquired by Key Foods. They quickly replaced staff and management. It went from a great neighborhood grocery store with an awesome staff to a dump overnight. The new Brooklyn fare is mismanaged, unfriendly, disorganized, an overpriced mess. Warning: do not purchase perishables and/or any of the meats. Consistently expired, and obviously decaying. Grey Pork chops? Yuck. If you do find yourself shopping there please check all expiration dates, the safety of your family depends on it. I know I'm ranting, but I assure you I am being genuinely honest.

Yelp
I am extremely lucky to have a Brooklyn Fare around the corner from my apartment. Brooklyn Fare deserves this 5 star review not only because it's a great grocery store with a nicely curated selection, but because it is SO much better that 99% of grocery stores in NYC. I used to live around the corner from Associated Supermarket... and ever since I've learned to appreciate a clean environment with a decent selection. What's great about Brooklyn Fare is that they manage to pack in gourmet alternatives alongside the typical selection. I like to cook some advanced recipes that require more selective ingredients, and I'm pretty sure 99 out of 100 times Brooklyn Fare has had exactly what I needed. Things that could improve: -I wish the bread selection was larger and more organized + more options -the seafood section is pretty blah Things Brooklyn Fare does very well: -the ice cream selection is BY FAR the best of any grocery store I've been to in the city, and possibly ever. However, a pint of artisanal ice cream can run you up to $10 -I love their precut/spiralized vegetables and their housemate pesto -the cheese selection is solid If you live in this area, you'd have to agree that Brooklyn Fare is awesome. For those who don't, swing by if you're in the hood! It's right across the street from the A/C and G, and I wouldn't hesitate to detour on my way home from work.

Yelp
BUYER BEWARE: 24 HOUR RETURN POLICY WITH RECEIPT. I am reposting from another customer as I too had the same issue. "Warning: DO NOT purchase perishables (cheese, milk) and/or any of the meats. Consistently expired, and obviously decaying. Grey Pork chops? Yuck. If you do find yourself shopping there please check all expiration dates, the safety of your family depends on it. I know I'm ranting, but I assure you I am being genuinely honest." I SECOND THESE SENTIMENTS. However, we purchased 2 items that were not expired but were obviously not stored properly or refrigerated properly and when we opened them BOTH, we found spores and decay, and clearly not good. So we actually tried to return them and they have a policy that you have 24 hours with receipt to return items. JOKE. I used to love this place...NEVERMORE.

Yelp
Have you ever loved a grocery store so much you would go to just window shop? Like food is so lovely you give it a round of applause? That is the exact way I feel about Brooklyn Fare. The Brooklyn Fare name is one that evokes grandeur. If you're not able to score a table here, you can still enjoy some of the products at home. They have prepared foods (meats, salads, sides), groceries and produce. Everything is suuuupppper expensive. Like WF in Venezuela. Crazy expensive. I would recommend trying some of the prepared foods as a fun treat but for most people, it's not something you could enjoy daily.

Yelp
I guess I'm in a 5 star mood today. I really like this grocery store. It has absolutely everything you need...ok maybe not absolutely everything, but I often come here with a recipe list of obscure ingredients and have never been disappointed. They have food to fit all dietary needs, butcher/deli, fresh fish, tons of fresh produce in all sorts of variations, bakery, organic and nonorganic, pre-made meals and sides...I think you probably get the point : ). I find the prices here to be reasonable and though the line here is often long it moves really fast. That brings me to the employees who are very professional and know how to get you what you need quickly so you can go home and eat...isn't that the whole point? I'm pretty sure they cater and do cooking classes here, too. I'm so glad I live close to this grocery store!

Giovanny G.

Yelp
I used to work here as a cashier I loved some of the customers very chill and very good and fun employees. Everything in Brooklyn fare is good is just some customers that are not patient and slow and dumb giving the workers a hard time especially the crack heads and the people that try to rob like if you broke just say that Stores closes at 9:00 but doors from the entrance closes at 8:50 by then when it's 9:00 it would be ready to close at the right time but later on it's supposed to start closing at 10pm
google avatar

Olga Lucia P.

Yelp
It is the worst store for making deliveries. I ordered produce for delivery at 4:45 pm and when I contacted them at 8:40 pm, they said that they weren't going to do the delivery today, but tomorrow. The woman who answered the phone was very rude and claimed that the store wasn't going to do the delivery. How do you order something for delivery, but they do whatever they want?
google avatar

Mitchell B.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place out of health concerns alone. On four separate occasions, I have purchased meat or seafood labeled with a following week sell-by date. Each of those times, the meat was well past spoiled with at least 4 days left on the sell-by period. This was not an isolated incident. It's like they get their deliveries and let them sit in a hot store room for a couple of days before putting them in the refrigerator. Someone is going to get sick because this is clearly a pattern and nothing is being done about it.

Yelp
Good place, great selection of a broad range of products, from interesting beers and ciders, to personal toiletries. For a non-local the store's physical depth and labyrinthine aisles was pretty cool, given its small appearance from the street. Helpful staff and a better, fresher, nut selection (Brazils, Hazelnuts in my case), than another market not far away.

Yelp
Four stars for convenience, layout, and selections, olive oil tasting, gourmet dinners, and a cheese selection that is commendable, however this spot is super duber pricey. It is conveniently located Downtown Brooklyn within walking distance of the Barclay's Center and Macy's, (Michael Jackson's "Beat It" Video was filmed like around the corner down the block literally), the layout of the store is intriguing as you shop down the very roomy aisles your last aisle will land you directly to the exit where friendly cashier are eagerly waiting to serve you. Lines move quickly. The price...the fung shui set up, the super sexy olive display, and that immaculate meat presentation...all that ambience, the oooooohhhsss and ahhhhhhhhhs are passed to you in the prices of your everyday items and the mark up compared to the local chain stores is staggering, but look its Downtown Brooklyn which transients mid westerners have made a mecca for hipsters and other wanna be New Yorkers, so these prices come with the territory. But I love it here and the weekly sales the sushi selections, and lunch specials are awesome.

Nick T.

Yelp
Once and never again. The best description I can come up with is "Cracker Barrel with an upscale ambiance". Pros: * bacon was great! * cold brew coffee was also great! * servers were friendly Cons: * biscuits and "country" gravy were awful. The gravy had this lemon flavor, more like Hollandaise sauce, and nothing like country gravy. I need to either rename the dish or change the recipe. * Hale the hazelnut, maple pancakes looked amazing, but that's where it ended. It tasted like it had been soaked in lard and had this up for powering fatty taste. * on the flipside of the service quality, when we told our waiter we didn't like our dishes, he did nothing about it. Aside from this, he should've seen that we barely touched our food.

Yelp
Not only is it incredibly expensive, but they also tend to mislabel items....putting meat under organic grass fed and charging more, when the packaging clearly doesn't state so. I feel ripped off. Also, Check the expiration date on things....It happened to me several times now that I had to point out to the manager that food items, especially cheeses and fresh meat where expired. (see my photos on the meat).

Yelp
The Brooklyn Fare is a 21st century neighborhood grocer in the Brooklyn community. They have gourmet groceries, prepared meals, olive oil tastings (and other samples), and fresh produce. The staff here are super friendly, and the place itself is just jampacked with goodies galore. My husband and I stopped here to wander a bit before our dinner, and it was wonderful to see the different meats, cheeses, prepared food in the deli section, international packaged goods, and fresh vegetables and fruit in the produce section. Definitely a cool place to get your grocery needs! :D +grocery store, located a few stores down from the restaurant

Derek C.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches, beautiful and wonderful food in stock, nicely styled interior, extremely comfortable and clean and well maintained place.

Yelp
Ok. It pains me to do this, but I feel like this review should serve as a PSA: check the labels vs what the item rings up to at checkout. BK Fare, are you doing this on purpose? I find it insane that the mislabeling is a mistake at this point and with such frequency. Also, at most stores, if it rings up wrong, it's free... here, they don't even apologize. Items to watch out for: Beyond Meat sausages, burgers and ground meat. Veggies and cheese from the cheese case. The Beyond Meat burgers ring up over $2 more than the $11.99 price. This has been going on for 4 months now. 4 months. The sausages ring up more than labeled too. They charge $2 more for the Italian ones vs the brauts, which I have never ever seen before anywhere. Their cheese selection is great, but once again, the cheddar I get was labeled $7.99 but rang up at $8.99. Again. Guys, stop doing this; it ain't cool. Buyer beware

Yelp
Brooklyn Fare aspires to be a specialty grocery store but falls short in so many way. Their produce is routinely limp and wilted. You'll often walk see their staff stripping off the rusted parts of greens and consolidating the remaining parts in a saleable "whole". Meats and fish are often stale. Prepackaged foods where you could get anywhere are marked up beyond belief. I don't see how they can rationalize their prices. As for service, folks behind cashiers are fine. But I'll often find myself if not unacknowledged then just ignored. There's really no reason to shop here unless you want to get ripped off.
google avatar

Yelp
Brooklyn Fare has been a life saver during this pandemic. I've ordered groceries online three times now - at first, because it was one of the only feasible options I could find (amazon prime and instacart deliveries are impossible to get these days). I continue to order because their website makes it convenient to buy things I can't get at my corner grocer, the service is great, and they're quick! The first order took 4 days (they quoted 5 days), but my last two orders were delivered on the same day they were placed. I live 0.8 miles away and they offer free delivery which is SO NICE (make sure to tip well.) They always call to double check on substitutions when they're out of something, which I appreciate during a time like this where you might be forced to take what you can get elsewhere. It also feels good to support local during this time - not to mention avoid the crowds at Trader Joe's and Target's grocery section. Thank you Brooklyn Fare!!

Yelp
I have been shopping at Brooklyn Fare since it opened in Brooklyn. I loved the store, and I particularly loved the staff who worked there. Something has happened--a change in ownership?--and ALL the former staff are now gone; they have installed self-serve (to eliminate all of those employees?); and it's losing its feel as the best neighborhood, Brooklyn-owned grocery. I never minded the price of things, but I sure do resent the ways in which the management obviously treated their employees (it took but 2 months for ALL of them to depart).

Yelp
I work one block away from this supermarket at the Brooklyn Criminal Court Building. Each Sunday and Monday I stop in and pick up my lunch and a few things to take home after my shift. From day one of me entering the store, their security always follows me and mysteriously, frequently show up in my area. As a dark-skinned Black man, I've unfortunately become accustomed to being profiled when I'm a unknown face inside an establishment but, Brooklyn Fare is going way overboard. I just left the store a few minutes ago and this time it was a Black security guard and he profiled me far more serverly than the other guards. I can no longer deal with their atmosphere towards customers of color and I will not shop there until they cut out the racial profiling of their customers. It's sad because it's a nice upscale market and they stock a lot of things I love.
google avatar

Yelp
NOBODY SPEAKS ENGLISH! I was looking for xanthan gum for my recipe so I directed myself to one of the guys with the Brooklyn fare shirts to ask for help and they don't understand what you are saying.. They walked me towards the seafood manager (Great guy) which helped me find xanthan and a few other things I needed to finish my shopping. Guys at the seafood section are willing to help you out and that seafood manager is very welcoming! Their black tiger shrimp is also very good.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
This store used to be amazing until it was taken over by new management a few months ago. Now everything and I mean everything ive gotten from there recently has been spoiled. Everything from kale to peanut butter has been uneatable on a regular basis. So sad how much this place has gone down the drain.
google avatar

Leona R.

Yelp
I came in here they have a decent selection, most things were mislabeled or not labeled at all. I bought some prepared food and was starving so I waiting in the line and asked a few associates where the forks are and they all pointed me in different directions. After asking the cashier for a fork she told me tat the forks were behind me in the line. I had to exit the store through the exit door and re enter through the entrance door to get to the forks. As I'm looking for a fork everyone who works there is staring at me then an associate asks me if he can check my bag after suspiciously watching me as I looked around desperately for a fork to eat the food I bought there. I showed him my receipt and he said "oh sorry" unapologetically.

Cory G.

Yelp
The staff is very rude and consistently want everyone out well before they close. This is a neighborhood grocery store, very small, and it often takes less than 5 minutes to get what's needed and check out. If they close at 9 and one shows up at 8:45, it's very feasible to be out by 8:50. I was followed by a woman who I understand to be the manager who muttered at me to "step down" to the register. I asked for a few moments to get the items that I intended to purchase and was treated like a criminal. I'm very sorry that you're tired; if you want to close at 8:30, change your hours.
google avatar

Yelp
Just opened my brand new package of sausage to find it completely molded after only 4 days. This is not the first time this has happened at this place. It used to be my favorite grocery store but it's honestly gone down hill. I got a package of cheese the other night that was also expired. You would think if you are spending so much on the food it would at least be fresh. Getting to Wegmans and Whole Foods is a pain but I'm not going to continue to waste my money here.

Yelp
Brooklyn Fare is a boutique supermarket owned by the Key Food Corporation in Downtown Brooklyn. You can find your essentials, plenty of craft beer, high end aged steaks and.. Cheese, lots and lots of cheese! © Nicki Minaj They have a dessert counter, sushi counter, hot food by the pound counter, and the gem of this place, the sandwich counter. They smoke all of their own meats and make their sauces in-house. My go-to sandwiches are the Green Goddess and the Beef Luger. For $9.99 you get them on a fresh hero w/ chips and a canned Pepsi product or water for free. Alao, usually you can get some sugar water Tropicana Twisters or Minute Maid "Juices" at .99 cents or 2 for $3.00 almost every week, which keeps me coming back because well. ...kids. All in all, I shop here at least once a week - if anything, for the $1.39 30 gallon trash bags and the 5 for $4.00 sparkling waters.

Yelp
Wide selection of grocery items, but could be arranged a little more decently. Seems overly packed inside with a poor flow and arrangement. The deli bar is great for lunch but for some reason everyone is moving really slow. Place could be cleaner. Outside, I pass this store everyday and the smell is absolutely horrendous and disgusting. It reeks of pee and rot that does not leave your nostrils even after a few blocks. Like I said, it could be cleaner.

Yelp
Don't buy the Salmon! (smells like old feet). the guy that works at fish counter is lame too. I've been getting fish here for years but now all the fish smell old and not washed. They are overpriced and there are better options in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
Brooklyn Fare has deteriorated in recent years despite the internal physical improvements they have made to the store, with the addition of a new sushi bar when you walk in and a streamlined Deli counter case. My issue is more so with the freshness of the produce - on numerous occasions, I have purchased avocados that are pure black on the inside. I've also experienced the same types of issues with eggs and fish, as some others have commented. Minus two stars for this. On the fish - be sure to ask the employee working behind the counter if it is fresh. If it was not delivered that day then do not buy it to be on the safe side. The prices on some items too are a bit ridiculous. Last summer they had a wall of thermoses priced at over $30 bucks a piece. Sort of ridiculous. The breakfast sandwiches are really great in the mornings as well as the freshness of the muffins.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice supermarket in the downtown Brooklyn area with a wide array of items to purchase. I love that they have such a big selection of fresh vegetables. I always find them to be fresher than my local market. They also have great seafood, specifically the salmon and shrimp. I don't go anywhere else when I'm in the mood for either because I know Brooklyn Fare has the best. The prices are definitely more expensive than most places but not surprising given the area. I always spend way more than I expected when getting basic groceries. The chicken is definitely way more pricier than other places for the same thing. Otherwise, this is a pretty good spot to get your veggies and seafood.

Yelp
This grocery store has the nicest staff, it's amazing. Everyone is eager to help. They also have an amazing meat counter. Normally I wouldn't bother coming here when I could get much lower prices at Stop & Shop but the meat counter actually has some crazy good deals. Brisket is usually $5.99/lb here for whole packer, and everywhere else that's usually $10+. They're also good for specialty ingredients and will special order things for you. I'm a little worried how they'll hold up with Whole Foods now open just down the street targeting the same demographic but with lower prices. I'd hate to see Brooklyn Fare get edged out, not just because it's easy to hate on Amazon but because their meat counter is genuinely superior. Support Brooklyn Fare!

Yelp
I was super lucky to score reservations at Brooklyn Fare Chef's Table for my annual 3 Michelin star meal with my fine dining partner Dana F. A review of our meal will follow shortly I arrived a little early and on exiting the Metro, i was right opposite Brooklyn Fare. My heart skipped a bear with excitement. Having read about this place, I coudln't believe I was here Having a little time to kill, I decided to have a look in the wonderful looking shop and gave Dana a quick call to let her know that I had arrived only to discover that she had beaten me there and was already inside! I love Whole Foods but am sometimes a little worried about going too corporate in my leanings. The produce and food here at Brooklyn Fare is of the same quality and provenance If I was local, I'd have walked out with a shopping basket of good food. Some great looking fruit perhaps. Some artisanal olive oils. Some lovely looking food from the deli. Fresh seafood. Drool I think Dana was also tempted but she was flying out to Spain on holiday the next day. That's the only reason we both left empty-handed for our meal at Chef's Table a few doors down

Yelp
While expensive, this store has some great finds that you cant find around NYC easily... Cheese Island is MY place for freshly made muzz when a caprese salad is on the menu in summer months in my place. I enjoy the variety of dulce de leche jars they have stocked, and the several varieties of wild-caught salmon (only farm-raised near my place). I run here on lunch often to grab sandwiches, a pre-made sushi roll, and the last few ingredients for the dinner I cook later that evening. Make sure to get the swipey-frequent-buyer card... you earn points and a discount after a certain amount is spent there!

Yelp
I am updating my review to a one star because of the incompetent and frustrating service I just experienced. After spending near $30 for A $10 lunch, a bag of popcorn (the same brands are much cheaper at the supermarket on remsen and court btw) And OVERPRICED macarons, I tried to take a picture of the lunch ingredients i had bought so that I could accurately log what I ate when I get home. The card listing the ingredients were so far back I couldn't make out the words in my pic so I asked if the server could take the card out the case and show it to me so that I could get a closer picture. Imagine my surprise when I was told I was not allowed to take a pic of the ingredients and that I would need to ask a manager for permission. Um, hello? I am entitled to know what is in my food. As I told this silly robot such he went on to say I could write down the ingredients but no pic. Is it me or does that make absolutely no sense. What's the difference between me writing down the ingredients and taking a pic of the ingredients except one way doesn't inconvenience and hassle the paying customer. No worries, I won't be back since the food is overpriced (I'd recommend going to govindas 2 blocks down for very affordable meals (eg $6 lunch) that use better ingredients and doesn't need to be doused in oil/fat to taste decent. I'd also recommend trader joes or the supermarket on remsen and court for a better layout, cheaper prices and competent management that won't make you jump through hoops with inane, stupid policies.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Breakfast and lunch when I am in the city. The deli has a great selection of sandwiches and a friendly staff. I tried the sushi last week and it was very good. So far everything I have had has been great. I highly recommend this grocery store to my fellow friends and coworkers.

Yelp
This grocery store is incredible. They have a huge selection of foods at every price point. You can get 2$ eggs, or 7$ eggs. Usually I have to go to a few grocery stores to get everything I need, but I can buy everything here. I especially love the dairy, cheese, and ice cream section. There are so many new yoghurts to try. For 4$ you can buy half a pound of shredded real parmigiano. The Key Food near my apartment only sells half a pound of Bel Gioso shredded parmesan for 6$ (and it's basically plastic). They have some delicious ricotta that costs the same as usual grocery store brands but tastes infinitely better. The ice cream section is extensive and has Jeni's ice cream. The store itself is clean and well organized, the people working there are helpful. They also have some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They're not that expensive, use high quality ingredients, and have inventive combinations. The Peter Luger one is especially delicious. And its big enough for 2 people. I went here today and bought a ton of food. Enough to last me 4 days or so. So much dairy, produce, eggs. I even bought an 11$ pint of ice cream and some 7$ coffee syrup. I was bracing myself to have an exorbitant bill. And it came to...55$. Not bad to feed me for 4 days.

Yelp
I love this store. I do. I've been shopping here for the last year and always just stare at their beer selection when I stop in. It wasn't until 2 weeks ago that I decided to give their deli a try. What the heck was I thinking not going here for so long!? GREAT sandwich selection. Reasonable prices. The man who makes my sandwiches makes them with so much love it makes me cry. Now I want one...! P.S. They now serve various freshly tapped beers in growlers. Yeah, I know... I'm in trouble.

Yelp
I love this market. It has such a great variety and carries obscure items that you won't find at any bodega. Lots of cheeses, some of which you can sample, and a ridiculous assortment of (expensive) artisanal granolas. They carry a vast amount of bobs red mill products, spices, etc. I also enjoy their pre-cooked veggie boxes, ie roast broccoli, carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc, which are actually relatively cheap. Only complaint is that produce, while fresh, isn't cheap so I don't typically buy it there. Oh and their bakery section's desserts are delicious.

Yelp
I really, really liked this place!! Its basically a market with some great features, the cheese area and the hot food. The cheese area is manned by a gentleman well versed and knowledgable of cutting the cheese, the history of the cheese, and what it pairs well with. You have to give the Mediterrean Salad spread a try, feta cheese, oil and some excellent spices with some crackers is simply BANGIN'. The hot food area if staffed by really nice workers who were all polite and eager to help. The selection of food was on-point. I went with the steak (sliced), roasted potatoes, and broccoli slaw. This meal was well packed and well packed with flavor!! There were so many other things that I wanted to try and I will be back to try them. I did see another customer order a sandwich wrap......and it was STACKED!! The place is clean and there are many wholesome items here for sale. The line can get long but there are several fast moving registers.

Yelp
Certain things in this store are a great value (Brooklyn Fare-branded spices and some of the produce that you buy by the pound or piece). The produce is usually of great quality. But generally everything else is much more expensive. If you can find an item at Trader Joe's or Target a few blocks away, it will almost definitely be (much) cheaper there---like 30-50% less is common. If you can find an item at Whole Foods (which you probably can), it's maybe a bit cheaper there (10-30%). One annoying thing about this store is that items are frequently not next to their price labels so you have to use the one price check machine in the store to tell how much an item is. I'd guess something like a 10% of all the price labels are upside down for some reason. This store is jam packed with stuff with very narrow aisles. It's kinda run down to be honest. If you live in downtown Brooklyn/Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill and you want something mildly exotic (lemongrass, a particular mushroom, kimchi, challah, gochujang, etc.), you can probably find it here. But if you want something particularly exotic (miso paste, gochugaru, dumpling wrappers, special cuts of meat, etc.), you're out of luck. The staff range between friendly and distant with most being in the latter. I'm perfectly fine with that. I don't understand the other reviewers who say the staff are rude because they aren't in my experience. The meat section is rather hit or miss. They always have the staples (ground beef, chicken breasts, chicken thighs, and steaks). But they're frequently out of stock of the less common meats (ground lamb, ground pork, pork chops, etc.). The less common meats are just thrown all over the place without any real organization. Regardless, the meat here is mostly of the organic/natural/grass fed variety so it's pricy. Even when they're not special, they're still pricy.

Yelp
Excellent!!! They have everything there and yes healthy choices But let's talk about the Deli , the guys who make my sandwiches are always pleasant. My sandwiches are always so fresh and yummy... I'm a returning customer and love it when they remember who I am, I think it's important to make your loyal customers feel at home. Shout out to the Deli!!!

Yelp
Holy moly this is a large market! Meats, deli, produce, dairy. Everything one could ever want! Except im visiting and dont have a kitchen. Sigh. Thinking of all the things i could cook or even meals with their pre made offerings. Alas i was there to eat next door and filling up before would be blasphemous. But dont bet i didnt think about it!

Yelp
Bah! In my day*, we didn't have no "Brooklyn Fare" with their fancy deli, meat, and fish counters, with their produce and cheese sections and their coffee bars, with their organic products and their special beers. We hauled our cloth bags of crappy groceries from Key Food on Atlantic and we liked it!** * I have held a residence in spitting distance of this place since 2001 (before The Shit). ** We actually did not like it at all and had to trudge all the way to Perelandra in Brooklyn Heights for better quality grocery and produce items. It's too pricey to think of as a primary grocery store, but if you think of it as your corner store, it's the best bodega ever. Now that I'm back in town for good, after several years away, I am going to waste so much money at this place.
