Brookside Market Cafe & Bistro

I have always loved coming here for breakfast (Hardy’s sandwich is a MUST) and now the nighttime wine and dinner set up is just pure fantastic. There’s a great combination of small and medium sized plates which are great for sharing (recommend the pickled eggplant, shrimp cocktail, potatoes and meatballs but really you can’t go wrong). There are three mains and each are outstanding but I guarantee there’s no better chicken dish in all of the 5 boroughs. The fried dough pizza on Fridays is a great call. The natural wines were a plenty and lots of options to choose from. I have been looking for some good Orange wine recommendations and this place came through! Thanks for the good suggestions! Can’t wait to go back. Delicious and tasty - not to mention gorgeous interior.

This cafe is a great discovery. It's cozy with a beautiful outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your meal. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They serve delicious food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch until 4 PM. It's the perfect spot to unwind and savor a meal in a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend checking out Brookside Cafe for a delightful dining experience in Sunnyside.

I stopped in for a glass of wine, and Erin behind the bar was extremely knowledgeable in helping me find the right one! I didn't try the coffee because it was late, but I will definitely be stopping by again to try a cup! I had a couple of appetizers that were delicious to go with the wine! A great addition to the neighborhood and looking forward to try more of the menu in the future!

Need to be in Sunnyside for a couple hours and found this cafe on Google Map. Walked in around noon-ish and it was pretty packed. So I waited in line to order and soon enough a table opened up. I had a ice tea and the Breakfast Macro Bowl. It took a while to get my macro bowl (just in case you are in a hurry). They have ready made sandwiches that looked really good. The macro bowl was a little bland but with a little bit of sirracha it was good and healthy. If I were in the neighborhood again, will def try the sandwich and a hot chai.

Generally speaking, I love the ambiance and the coffee. They have some really great flavors and the garden is adorable. That being said, some of the baristas are rarely pleasant. And if one in particular is there I just don't go in at all because she's so unfriendly. At $6.50 a latte, I expect basic kindness.

After dropping off my fiancé’s brother at LaGuardia super early, we thought Brookside Market would make a great place to get some breakfast and hang out. This spot was so charming, and being from Connecticut, we loved the nods to Brookside Market in Woodbridge, CT! Delicious avocado toast, bacon egg & cheese sandwich, and pain au chocolat. We liked our cortado and hot chocolate too! I would definitely come back again next time I’m in the area!

Loved this cafe. Beautiful interior & exterior. Inside & outside available. Great atmosphere. Everything tasted amazing that we got. Both the drinks & food. Came here because of an event. The beautiful garden was used as a baby shower event, which was incredible. The only thing that I wasn't satisfied with was that there was only one coed bathroom. Most of the time it was occupied. That wasn't comfortable at all. Street metered parking available. There's a paid parking lot as well in front across the street. Overall Highly recommend.

Our favorite neighborhood coffee spot, but we also had an amazing experience booking their backyard garden for a wedding farewell brunch. Tali was particularly helpful in addressing all our needs in setting up a seamless, cozy gathering!

My new favorite hidden gem in New York, specifically sunny side. I love the farmstead lite decor with a bit of Long Island prep. I guess you'll have to come to know. The latte was delicious and I love the outdoor space for some fresh air. I will stop by again in the future if I'm in the neighborhood.

One of the cutest cafes I have ever been to. Just look at all the holiday decorations! The cafe is so warm and cozy, and it's filled with local families and friends. It has the ambiance of a cafe where regulars go rather than just a pick up and go coffee shop, which is hard to find in NYC. The staff is also super nice and friendly. You can even see one of the baristas smiling in the back of my picture which I didn't even realize until after! Unfortunately I'm boring and I got a cold brew, but they have a lot of seasonal lattes that looked really good. Definitely worth a visit!

First time here, and I always pass by this spot as it's on queens blvd where I run my errands. They are having restaurant week, so I decided to try this place out as they're taking part in it. Came during dinner time and did the $35 deal. I decided to try the bread with whipped ricotta, honey, and rosemary. It was really good! For my main entree, I got the broccoli rabe & sausage. It was good, but I didn't really see a lot of sausages more of the broccoli rabe, so that's my complaint. (All you see is the broccoli, and it would've been better if it was called a lot of veggies and some protein on the side. Jk) I wasn't satisfied with the entree. For dessert, I chose the keylime pie, and it was alright. There is nothing amazing here that would make me want to go back.

Please please This is a review that I want to take time to write. Because it can't be that one pays a high price for each item and the service is so bad! There I decided to stop for a small Brunch (Sunday) the cashier which looked like the manager or even the owner I had no idea She treated me very very badly, I'm not talking about shouting, I'm talking about rolling eyes, what I bought was never enough and I always had to go back to her and ask her to please accommodate my order. for example Hot chai latte was cold (not ice) chai, please can I have a napkin, she said is inside the bag and wasn't ZERO napkins, the. She told me in a very rude way that I would have to wait minutes if I wanted it hot! dah! That was my order. When I was asking for my things that order long time ago and all wrong she was even rolling her eyes to me. A very arrogant girl, mid length brown hair, only was who touched the register . She was obviously bitter by treating the client badly. Not only me if not a couple that seems like tourist too . I took a stupid photo of the 1/2 of the napkin which I had to share with my friend. I personally won't be coming back again! I spent $40 on my brunch and the service was less than zero. The place is pretty and that is my ONLY ONE star that I am giving here .

Wine Bar Review - I can't believe I've been sleeping on this spot! I finally went to try the wine bar this evening and couldn't believe I've been missing out on amazing food and wine. I'm not a big wine person but I do appreciate a good glass of wine, so this is more of a review on their food. This is the only place I know of in Sunnyside that serves oysters on a daily basis, so I was already sold. Then the grilled prawns came out and holy molyyyyy! The best grilled prawns I've had in a while! Really great flavor and wish they served it with some bread to sop up all the sauce. The meatball sliders were juicy and flavorful. I also appreciated the side of extra sauce. The beets, using an old family recipe, were delicious and I'm not even a beet person. The steak and fries were cooked to perfection, including meat temps and fry crispiness. While the prices are a little high though comparable to other casual dining spots nearby, the quality of the food, the flavor, wine options and ambiance were worth it. I would definitely recommend this spot to people for more than just a wine bar. The food is solid!!! *Hoping this place gets a charcuterie platter

I love their Hazelnut latte, bakery. I had an almond croissant normally but this time i had apple galette, cinnamon bun, kouign amnn . All of them were very delicious. I like their back garden during summer, but also indoor is very cozy. I always go this place with my friends.

Favorite latte in the area and I love their seasonal options. Good breakfast sandwiches. I like the indoor and outdoor ambiance. The ordering system can get chaotic, however (they should attach names to the orders), and the staff is sometimes very unfriendly.

I've becoming here for the past two years every so often I get a lavender flat white, on occasions I get a veggie wrap. Service is always great. However, the quality of the flavors, temperature of my veggie wrap and just the environment is outstanding. This place truly deserves five stars.

I stopped in here last week for a quick coffee and pastry. The line was decently long for an early Sunday morning but moved quickly. I got an iced caramel latte and a plain croissant. I was a little worried since I didn't ask for an extra shot as lattes are super milky, but it definitely didn't need it. The drink was nice and strong and did not have a shortage of caramel. What really blew me away was the croissant! I think it really might be the best one I've had in my life so far. I read later that Brookside Market gets their pastries delivered from Balthazar Bakery, so although it's not their own product, I'm very glad that they still carry it. I would definitely return!

I want to like this place so bad. I only hear great things and the inside is very cute. I live in the area and I've given this place too many chances, every time I try to get a latte, it tastes like 95% milk and it's so disappointing. I have to always go get coffee from somewhere else after. The breakfast sandwiches are subpar too. I decided to finally write a review because I experience this way too often with this place and want to validate anybody else who might feel the same here but are confused by the amazing ratings.

a lovely little spot! I had their pumpkin spice latte (w oat!) and it was delicious. It's not overtly sweet, it's just the perfect balance of sweetness and spice that you expect for any good PSL! Their pastries are also great, but I'm a huge fan of their sandwiches. I tried their BLAT, extremely delicious on a rainy day. I think the thing that sealed the deal for me was their golden latte. A turmeric latte with some honey. Especially great on this cold and rainy weather!! Staff is nice, place is really nice and has its own personality. There's a backyard space and a lot of seating! Love love love this place, definitely stop by if you're in Sunnyside and need a good coffee.

Ten stars, if I'm being honest. Great local coffee shop to work from, very reasonably priced and excellent service.

It is a cute cafe ! Coffee tastes just ok though. Also one of a barista there was very unfriendly with zero smile. When I asked about wifi she used her chin to point it. I was shocked. I wonder why somebody like her wants to work in servise industry. Also music was very loud so we could not feel relaxed at all..

Cute cafe with coffee, pastries, breakfast options (including bowls), and even wine! Friendly staff, covid precautions seem to be taken seriously (masks on staff, sanitizer, open door for air circulation, no indoor seating). Chai latte was good. Not overly sweet like many others make theirs. And they have macadamia Avocado toast is tasty (the bread is incredible) but for $9 I expected something less basic. A bit more zhuzh if you will. Maybe a sprinkle of fresh black pepper and flaky sea salt or some chili flakes in addition to the sesame seed. Something. For roughly the same price you could get a BLAT (and they pricing makes sense). But nonetheless, I don't regret it. Highly recommend checking out this place. They also carry a ton of Bathlazar pastries, which are always a win!

I never write reviews! But this is a must, place is super cute, coffee is good BUT and huge BUT!!! The last few times I've ordered food with bacon I've barely eaten the bacon, it's floppy and undercooked ! Will not be ordering any cooked food again it's worth the price you pay. And one server in particular has the worst attitude, if you don't like your job, leave! But don't look at your customers as though you're doing us a favor by making our coffee. So much for service with a smile.

During my visit to Brookside Market, I was surprised to discover this new addition to the area. The outdoor seating options in the front and back, as well as the reading area complete with books, were particularly appealing. Customers were also welcome to bring their laptops, adding to the overall relaxed ambiance of the place. I tried their turkey sandwich, which I found to be on par. However, I was disappointed with the service as they did not appear to be accommodating towards customers with dietary restrictions. Despite my inability to consume bacon, the staff did not offer to remove it or provide any modifications to the sandwich. Additionally, I found the overall demeanor of the staff to be lacking in warmth and friendliness during my visit.

Coffee is one of the best in the area Food: I'd agree with others it's overpriced for what you get Service: a couple of the girls making coffee give a lot of attitude. glad they hired some new people who smile and give better customer service !

This place has some of the best tasting coffee in the neighborhood. If it were just a coffee shop, they'd be getting 5 stars. However, they also serve food and unfortunately the cost and quality of the items you receive do not deserve more than 2 stars. I've been coming to this place for years, one of my first times trying their food it felt like it was too expensive but I wanted to give it a shot ($10 for 1 breakfast taco), and it tasted good! It was definitely too much for 1 taco but I enjoyed it so I didn't mind it as much. Since then, I've tried a few of their sandwiches and I always come away feeling like I've wasted my money. $13 for a breakfast sandwich that could fit in the palm of your hand - but, the food was at least good even if I felt like everything was overpriced. Most recently, I ordered a BLAT which was $9.50 and it felt almost criminal that I had to pay that much for such a disappointing experience. The bacon was floppy and barely cooked, bread wasn't toasted, lettuce was fine, had less than 1/4 of an avocado in it. I see so many positive reviews for this place, and I continue to wonder how they get away with it - I'm convinced people will pay more just because the place looks hip. There are a few coffee and lunch spots in the area that are priced appropriately and offer better quality food, and service! I'll probably still get the coffee here and there, but this was the last time I'll ever order their food.

Had nice outdoor seating (although had to wipe tables down) but service was cold & unfriendly! Choco croissant had flakiness not bad and latte was good, not amazing. My friend goes here because best coffee in the area but I think she should explore more lol.

Brookside is open as a wine bar in the evening now, and the vibe is fantastic: candlelit, focused menu, great service, peaceful back garden, interesting wine list, delicious food (we had steak, bitter salad, and oysters). I'm so happy this is now a dinner option in the neighborhood! A touch more expensive than other spots, but worth if for the atmosphere and interesting menu.

Love the coffee. Love the food. Little pricey but worth it in my opinion. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the new lady who works the counter always has the worst attitude. Rushes ppl and is so short with then. So unfriendly. Used to love going here specially for the service but now no. I will be visiting a lot less because of her unfortunately.

I really like the bagels , coffee and sandwiches . Good food . The only thing I don't like is the number of dogs that clients walk in with some of them with more than one pet . I'm a dog lover but this not fair for those of us who like quiet . Why don't the post a sign leave the pets outside ?

Great addition to the neighborhood. Quality coffee, supplied by Stumptown. Pour overs, espressos, drinks, and nitro. Great sandwiches as well. Good selection of whole beans to take home and supplies: Chemex, filters, French press, etc.

Sunnyside staple. Coffee, vibes, food are all immaculate. But what really keeps me coming back is the people. They've always greeted me with kindness and I've had some of the nicest conversations with them! Pour one out for any coffee shop that memorizes your drink and hits with the, (insert drink name), right? Brookside Market are the REAL MVPs

I go here often because the coffee is a little better than Dunkin but my time has come to an end. The service has never been too good but, lately, it's just terrible. I don't mind paying the prices but how many times do I have to order an almond milk latte & be served regular milk? It's frustrating because service is already slow so if they're in a shitty mood & choose to ignore part of your order (which is literally what happened today) you're left waiting 15 minutes for a drink. I understand working in the coffee industry gets irritating as hell (I did it for many years) but I've lost my patience with this place.

Delicious iced lattes and bagels. Really hit the spot for a morning brew or mid afternoon snack.

I finally made it out here after nearly 2 years. Since working from home twice a week for nearly the past year, I always thought about coming here for lunch, but never bothered to come in. Always tried the other options in the area. Today I got myself up in the rainy weather to trek here for lunch. I saw the sign earlier that there was now a vegan zucchini pesto sandwich. I thought it was cool, but then I also stumbled across a vegetarian wrap with eggs, cheese, avocado, and the works. As a vegetarian, I immediately went with that and ran. First off, the wrap is actually a hot sandwich. That's MAJOR bonus points. Second, it was a huge sandwich and extremely tasty. I supremely recommend it if you're a vegetarian. With that said, the big appeal is the coffee. I'm not huge on nitro coffee - mainly because I'm a lazy coffee drinker and don't drink it every day. There's some cool seating too where you can do some work, eat, and chill and not be inundated with people like at Starbucks. The staff are cool too. I actually took the food back with me to my apartment, but just a fyi. Highly recommend and probably will come back now.

Cute place with a healthy menu and some nice variety. They have a creative use of space and a backyard perfect for vibrant spring afternoons, lazy summer days, and chilly fall frolics~ The tuna salad is a nice option for low fodmap / sibo / paleo / gluten free / dairy free peeps. since i make something similar myself, i do wish the dressing was a bit more flavorful with additional flavors or that the tuna was wetter, layered closer to the bottom. the salad is very fresh tasting, just not as action-packed as i prefer. ;) the cranberry cookie was gluten free and really yummy and devoured before I could contain myself and take a pic! ha! side note: look forward to gluten free bread coming in the near future!!! the green juice was a refreshing thirst quencher. they don't mind juice modifications, which is great for low-fodmap eaters looking to reduce sugars.

This little place has a backyard to sit in and is gorgeous throughout the year. Their coffee is Stumptown coffee roasters from Brooklyn and it is incredible. Their staff is really relaxed all the time and always happy to see you. This is my favorite coffee shop now that I live in Sunnyside. Their "classic caddis" (bacon egg and cheese) is my favorite style of the iconic New York breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The bun they use is so light and soft it's amazing. Another favorite is the Buddha bowl add cheddar! No more Starbucks for me !

I love Brookside Market. As a former Sunnyside resident, I'll still sometimes return for the good beverages, tasty food offerings, and pleasant vibe. Their baked goods come from Balthazar, which is awesome. The avocado toast is on nice, thick, multigrain bread. The breakfast bowls are very, very good as well. Worth traveling from another borough!

Wonderful!!! Fabulous service, coffee, and food. I had the BLAT with gluten free bread (recommended by Carlos) and it was delicious! Great job kitchen staff. Carlos and the girl working with him (I wish I remembered) were so kind & helpful! They were happy and looked like they were having a good time!!! My lav coco latte was delicious and was made SO fast! Beautiful espresso machine as well. Music was a little loud inside but I was also sitting by the door so I understand. They have great sitting areas with a variety of spots. 10/10 recommend. If I ever move to nyc I would want to work here!!! Great job baristas this is forever one of my spots for my visits here.

A little pricey but worth it . Freshness in everything bacon egg and cheese with a touch of elegance lol. Coffee was perfect ! Highly recommend . Quick service despite how busy they are .

Buddah bowl was delicious! I also had a latte with oat milk and a cappuccino with oat milk. Everything was delicious. Service was quick, outdoor seating was nice, and staff was friendly, definitely plan on coming back!

Great food and coffee with friendly service. I love their Bartletts vegetarian wrap and Hardy's favorite sandwich for a quick breakfast with a nice creamy latte. They also have wonderful pastries but if you get there after noon, you'll find that they are usually half gone. Must try!

Great addition for coffee in Sunnyside, Queens. They have their own specialty lattes. The baristas are friendly and polite. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I tried the one with eggs, bacon, and cheese. Bacon was crispy, eggs were scrambled and fluffy, and the bread was soft yet toasted. Overall, I am pleased with the coffee shop and will be a recurring customer.

Went here on a hot summer day for lunch. Ordered an iced latte with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich (Classic Caddish Sandwich- a brioche with eggs, cheddar and bacon). Loved how toasty the bread was on the outside and soft on the inside. Normally, in a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, I need ketchup because it usually is bland or lacking in flavor, but this was perfect. It had the saltiness from the bacon, sweetness from the bread, and the softness from the egg and cheese. Perfect combination with an iced oat milk latte. What was also great was that they had outdoor dining in front of the store, as well as an outdoor garden in the back; very nice and breezy.

Brookside has the best oat lattes, ever -- the stumptown coffee and the oatly barista edition make such a great combo. the buddha bowl is also an excellent breakfast option, and there are always great pastries to choose from in the display and a unique selection of delicious cold drinks.

Finally got to stop by this quaint spot. The staff are friendly and accommodating; the decore done up to resemble a market. This place feels hipster and trendy- packs of stumptown coffee line the walls and breakfast foods have cute names like Buddha bowl. While I did not have the coffee I got the hot chocolate, the butcher sandwich and Buddha bowl. The hot chocolate was mediocre at best, but forgivable since this is supposed to be more of a coffee joint. The butcher sandwich may have been good if eaten in house but as a takeaway item got far too soggy within the foil - the sandwich was difficult to eat and falling apart. The bun was far to soft to stand up to the slightly wet egg. The Buddha bowl, while tasty, was not exactly what I was hoping for. The menu lists chives as the topping but the bowl was topped with scallions instead which sounds like a small difference, but to me I like the gentler taste of chives in the morning vs. the onionyness of scallion. Based on the name, I was expecting a light clean zen? feeling while I ate it but the dish ate heavy, mainly because of the pool of oil that formed from the hashbrowns which were not the crispy ribbons I was hoping for. Overall was a bit disappointed considering the price, not sure I would go back.

I drove pass this place a few times and I assumed it was a fish market. Silly me. It turns out they serve breakfast sandwiches and coffee from stumptown. I ordered coffee and their egg avocado sandwich, everything was about $12 and change. Nothing special about the sandwich. Everything sits on a brioche bun with no extras. Went home and added Gouda cheese and some spices to amp up the favors. All and all, decent coffee, service was good, but the price point didn't match the quality of the sandwich. There's room for improvement :)

This is kind of ridiculous, but I'm giving this place 5 stars before actually trying the food. There are shelves full of books and little knick knacks, old vinyl albums... the place is covered in tile and wood, very cozy. The gal taking orders and running the cashier was easy to smile and very cool and complimentary. The menu looks great... Red Hot Chili Peppers are on the sound system here. There's a beautiful garden in the back, this place is clean, and the guy who cooked my breakfast just served me at my random table with a smile. The 6- hour slow cooked pulled pork sandwich with pickles (that I just got for breakfast) is very nicely done. It could actually have used MORE pickles (less pulled pork would have been acceptable for the price they're charging). There's a freaking acoustic guitar sitting next to me on a stand, just waiting to be strummed, by the way. This place is a terrific artist's nook. Come here!

Coffee is good. The butcher burger is delicious. Also, a casher was very nice and friendly. Come definitely back and try other burgers!

Just opened up. Coffee is fantastic. Not much of a selection jet. That will come I am sure. These people behind this here little very beautiful operation do not appear to be old pros in the business but live and learn I guess. I love this little sunnyside watering hole. Love this hip coffee shop, with inventive lattes (try the charcoal or lavender), and a bevy of other standard drinks. They also serve food beyond curated pastries from well known shops (i.e. Balthazar), and though I haven't tried their sandwiches or specials yet, I'd be more than happy to sink my teeth into their seasonal soft-shell crab sandwich, which sounds amazing. There's a chill little backyard oasis that can be enjoyed in mild temperatures, but seating inside is also quaint. The baristas are uber friendly and they know how to make a mean drink. Brooke (sp?), is actually the best! Shout out to him for always making my lattes with a warm and genuine smile on his face.

Hands down my favorite local coffee place. Yes, it's a little on the pricier side, but the taste is untouchable. No more Starbucks. Their ingredients are high quality as is their service. AND they have many different milk options! Buddha bowl is the go to, but the avocado toast is also delicious (such fresh bread!). If the chicken sandwich is on the specials don't ask yourself any further questions - just get it - I don't care if it's 10am you won't regret it! Adorable neighborly outside area in the back. Great spot to sit in the window and people watch. French vanilla latte with macadamia milk all day every day!

I'll be reviewing Brookside further in the coming weeks, but so far they're off to a great start. The Stumptown Ethiopian Mordecofe is quite good. I look forward to trying all their varietals of Cold Brew that they have both on tap and in their display case (see attached photos). All in all, a very welcome addition to the Sunnyside neighborhood!
