Wow, this place is adorable and bustling. I can see why. They have such a great array of tasty things. I love how they have both chicken noodle soup and clam chowder for the winter.

Came in for a late lunch, got the tomato + mozzarella sandwich ($7), house salad ($8) and a coffee ($1). The sandwich was good, had a nice flavor and wasn’t dry like a tomato and moz sandwich can be. The salad was fresh, with olives, feta and crisp lettuce (romaine?) that hit the spot. I ordered an iced tea, but they didn’t have it yet, so just had a coffee on ice. My friend was pleased with the salami + mozzarella sandwich that he ordered (thought the mozzarella was above average) and we split a cookie that we both liked, it had chocolate chips and salt on top. We liked the crispy element of it and agreed that under cooked cookies are too common lately. ha. They only have a few stools, no tables, the bench outside is nice though.

Father-son duo is amazing to see. Love the coffee and bites. Pastries are fresh and hot. Will quickly become a staple in the neighborhood. The younger Zabar needs to work on his latte art if he wants to make my morning insta story.

Ok, why the Lower East Side premium charge?! Just bought an Elis Health Loaf @ $7.00 in Zabar's uptown it is $4.98! Help me understand why 40% more costly to buy the same loaf at this store than the uptown store? And 75% of what is being sold in there is just standard bakery goods.
