Terrible service, outdated online menu, and wasn’t told PART OF MY MEAL WAS OUT OF STOCK UNTIL I PAID $20 and got HOME. Don’t mind paying for a GOOD meal but this was not that! Skip and go to big cheese or anywhere else.

This was our first visit here and overall it was just okay. The blue cheese dressing was fabulous and by far the best thing we tried. The spin dip was okay, but was very under seasoned and the chips served with it were burnt. We had to adjust our order multiple times because many items from the menu weren't available. After ordering coffee we were informed there wasn't any form of creamer available for it. The main dinning room smells a bit musty like an old library and overall the place has charm in some areas, but is really falling short of making the most of the space. We tried 2 of the specialty pizzas and they were good. Again, the flavor was better with some salt and pepper but should have been served with more seasoning than it was. We had a wonderful service! The guy taking care of our table, not sure on the name, but had dark curly hair, did all he could to make the best of our visit. He was quick to fill drinks and helped guide us around the holes in the menu.

Good food. But super pricey and they seem to always be out of stuff. Also don't think that the steaks we got were the correct size and when we mentioned it to waitress she just shrugged at us and walked away. Everything we asked her she just said I don't know and we barely saw her. Not impressed.

This is, without any competition at all, the best restaurant in the surrounding region. Only once have we ever had a bad meal there, and the time that we did the owner immediately comped the entire bill for us, and we hadn't even asked him to do anything. My choices tend to vary between three menu items: eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti with marinara, or the large three topping pizza special on Thursdays. The salads are always good (although I wish they were a little bigger). The only criticism we have is that unless you are sitting at a window you cannot have enough cell phone signal to do anything with your phone while waiting for your food to arrive. This wouldn't be an issue if they provided WiFi, but they don't, so it can definitely get frustrating if you want to play a game or browse the Internet while waiting.

Great place but it is permanently closed as of June 2022. The town will miss it very much.

This a very cute and well done place. We had a great experience. The owner came in just after we did and made she we were seated right away and check up on us to make sure everything was good. They have a great deal on pizza for $10 for a large 3 topping pizza. Wonderful thin crust and deliciously hot pizza. If you don't want pizza they have a good variety of things on the menu. It is in a small town, but definitely has great service and great food. Would definitely recommend it!

We just left after a tasty wonderful lunch. The service by Emily was excellent and fast. The lunch special, chicken something was great and cAne with salad and house made blue cheese dressing. We have been away from Brothers fir past disappointments but they have really turned it around. I'd go back tomorrow. I actually may go back tomorrow. Update: arrived when they opened Sunday at 11:02 Had been traveling and wanted food before grocery shopping. Wanted a steak and baked potato to replenish all potassium lost due to 111 heat index. Here starts the problems. 1. "Out of baked potato" 2. Changed order to spaghetti and meatball. Husband changed to steak and fries. 3. Now informed our of meatballs and fries. 4. Super nice waitress, but we left.

Great Italian restaurant with yummy menu options. In addition to the tradition Italian food, they also serve an amazing Crab Bomb. Delicious!!! They have a really nice outdoor patio for those wanting to socially distance.

Eh. Sad to see a once good restaurant go down hill. I don't expect this place to be open for long. Update (March 2019) figured we'd give it another try. Maybe since they hadn't went outta business, they'd made adjustments. Nope. Got even worse. Tried to order and the waitress said they were out of a lot of items so it would be easier to tell us what they Did have. That was the positive side of the experience- all down hill from there. Save yourself the aggravation and go around the corner to Turbos or Vintage.

Loved the atmosphere. They had a lounge and dinner sitting. It looked like they even have an outdoor seating area as well. The food was delicious. It's mostly Italian and pizza. With some cold and hot sandwiches. A big menu overall and what we ordered was delicious. We will definitely be going back!! I will upload pictures of my side salad and spaghetti. Both were very good and I would recommend

Wow, their pizza has gone down-hill, and the wine selection is poor.

We have been here a few times. Its kind of a small spot. You might have to wait if its busy. Baked Ziti Al Forno con Salsiccia is super cheesy with zesty sausage. This is hubs favorite every time. I have had the fillet which was good. They cook over rather than under. I'd suggest although the steak and pasta is good the treat here is the pizza. Its a cracker thin crust. Which is actually crispy. I haven't had the specialty pizzas I have done the create your own. The pepperoni and salami seem of better than average deli meats. This place is def a place to check out. We like to go here when we cant make it to Tulsa or KC.

Spaghetti wasn't too bad meatballs were mediocre but when it came to asking for Italian sausage and they took breakfast sausage and crumbled it up in the spaghetti well the Italian kind of went out the door

I love Brothers and eat there whenever we happen to go through Independence at dinner time. My favorite entrees: manicotti or baked ziti. Their salad with bleu cheese dressing is awesome! Nice wine selection. And of course, the tiramisu for dessert. My kids always get the pizza and it is also delicious!

Just passing through Independence for the night. Decided to try Brothers and was very disappointed. 20 Oz steak was rare when we asked for medium rare. Bread that was served with the meal tasted as if it was frozen and not homemade. Eggplant parm was just ok, nothing fabulous but not horrible. I just expected a lot more from a restaurant especially for what we paid. Service was good though.

I'm new in SE Kansas and I'm looking for a regular go-to place where I can always count on a good meal. After trying Brother's this past week, I can assure you it won't be it. I walked in to a rather busy restaurant. I was eating alone so I agreed to be seated at their discretion. I was led to the patio which happened to be the dining locale of two other families - one couple who had apparently already eaten and a family of 5 still waiting to be served. The service was prompt and my order was quickly taken (fries mushrooms, baked ziti, water, and a beer). It was then I overheard the two other tables conversing back and forth. The table yet to be served (Table 1) had apparently been waiting awhile. They were jokingly asking for any leftovers or scraps that may be left from the diners at Table 2. Everyone laughed but I raised a brow. It wasn't long that my appetizer of fried mushrooms was delivered, but I was told they were out of the beer I ordered. Upon taking the first bite, I was taken back by an ice cold still-frozen center. I sampled 2 more to make sure it wasn't just the one. Also cold. My server was slow in checking back so I sat, not eating, listening to the banter from the nearby tables. The kids at Table 1 were hungry. The gentleman at Table 2 stepped inside to say proactively ask about Table 1s food and pay his check. The hostess stepped out and apologized to the family assuring their food would be out shortly. It was approximately 10 min more before my server stepped out to check on me. She apologized and offered to bring out a new batch of mushrooms. Sitting outside with the temperature dropping into the 50s, it was at this time the family at Table 1 opted to move to an inside table leaving me alone on the patio. My mushrooms - not a new batch but the same that were taken from me - were returned to me a little more golden and much warmer to the core just before my order of baked ziti arrived. I found myself alternating between the mushrooms and the ziti to enjoy both before the dish cooled. The ziti was good. No complaints. I ate half and inquired about the tiramisu. Was it prepared in the restaurant fresh or store bought? I was told it was ordered from a local bakery. I decided I'd give it a try and later regretted it. It tasted frozen - perhaps Pepperidge Farms or of the like. My check never came so upon boxing up what I didn't eat, I approached the register to pay. Dinner for 1 complete with appetizer, entrée, and desert with water to drink: $30. Can't say I saw anything there for that price that would give me reason to go back.

We were looking for someplace nice but not super expensive. This restaurant was really good, Kaitlyn was our server and she did a great job. I had spaghetti with mushrooms and marinara. It was good and the portion was big! (Leftovers for lunch) and my husband had baked ziti! Independence is a cute town and the food was good!

I had the Eggplant Parmesan. It was pasta with 1 to 2 pieces of eggplant. I was disappointed and that was the only time that I ate there.

We got two different pasta dishes and shared them. The salads before hand was nice. The food was good, what I expected from a slightly higher priced restaurant for the area but one of the dishes was Baked Ziti and the center of the meat balls and a few pieces of the pasta had cold centers. I'm sure that was not normal and just a one time thing. Anyway, a groups next to us ordered the pizza and it looked really good. That's what we will order if we go back.

So. Tonight was the last Friday night for the Independence show and shine car show for the year. Me and G dog head down with the Chevy and we park and do our thing and I get to thinking, there's only one restaurant in town with an outdoor patio, Brothers Railroad Inn....hmmm maybe I can get G in there and we'll have a few G and T's. Walk in and the server says "is he a service dog" and I'm like "yes...and no". Server says "Well then it's up to our owner Patrick." Patrick comes out and he's like "Please let me show you both to your table." Okay?????.....I order a couple of appetizers, a salmon dinner for Graham and a gin and tonic....and then it begins. A huge bowl of water and ice for Graham comes out followed by a serving platter (an actual bone china plate) of rib eye steak complete with a pickled cinnamon apple slice on a bed of lettuce garnish for him. There is so much good in this world. FYI the food was superb.

Food was good. Pizza was huge and they only bring out half the pizza at a time and leave the rest in the back in a warmer. House wine was pretty good too. Our server was very helpful in picking our dishes and was super friendly. She also boxed up our leftovers which I love when I dine out.

We ate here primarily because of the Yelp reviews. You guys let us down this time. There was no wait and the young girl serving our table was friendly and attentive (which is the only reason the restaurant gets two stars). I had beef and mushroom pizza and the guy I was with had a Philly cheese steak pizza. The crust was good - thin and crisp, but the rest of the pie was really underwhelming. We both thought the sauce was straight from a can and it had almost no flavor at all. The mushrooms on my pizza were out of a can for sure. The meat was most likely from the local Wal-Mart deli. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but the pizza is not worth the effort.

I wish this place were in my town. Great service, great lunch. The waitress knew her menu and gave us good recommendations. Mrs. Eva had a steak sub sandwich and some delicious red pepper tomato vinaigrette soup. I had a chicken bacon ranch sub sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. The fries were cooked perfectly - hard to do with sweet potatoes. I would like to come here again.

Fabulous food and fabulous service! Stayed in Independence on our way back to Indiana (August 19, 2017). Ate at Brothers's. The waiter was attentive and the food was spectacular. Two of us ate the Ravioli and one had scrimp. It would definitely be a regular "go-to" place if we lived there or near there. Will definitely go back if we drive through Independence again!

This is the best Italian food in the Independence area! They have really good steaks and a friendly staff. You'll never find blue cheese dressing any better. Large drink menu.

The gourmet pizza, chicken bacon ranch, is a kill. Have to try guys. The steak was delicious. Other Italian dish, not so great. I'll always come back for the pizza. Best best best ever.

I eat here every Friday for the lunch special and fairly regularly for dinner besides. The Car Shop pizza is one of the best meat lovers style pizzas I've had and the Baked Ziti is phenomenal.

You must try the Crab Bomb, baked lump crab meat shaped into an 8 oz ball covered in melted butter. So rich, so amazing, and on a Sunday afternoon even!!

The food is alright for a small town like Independence, If you put this same restaurant in Kansas City or even Wichita and it would be empty. My boyfriend ordered a 10" Philly steak pizza that was mainly mushrooms, he didn't eat much of it. I ordered veal parmesan that was just okay. Every time I have been there the service starts good, and we end up waiting forever for the check. I don't think I will return, I can make better food than what's served, and I don't have to wait 20 min after the meal for the check to come.

This is not a really good restaurant to go eat at. In fact it's actually rather horrible to be honest. The waitstaff service is pretty horrible. You would be better off getting up to go get drink refills yourself. They never really pay attention to see if costumers need refills on drinks. Every time you want a refill you have to ask. It takes literally forever for the food to be completely ready, sometimes even hours. The food really doesn't taste all that great either. The prices are outrageous! You don't even really get what you pay for either because the food portions are way too small and meager. There is literally no quality or quantity if you go eat there. The last time I ate there with my parents my Dad offered me a bite of the pizza he had ordered. The next morning I had gotten extremely sick. I call my dad to see if he had gotten sick and he had. Turns out we both had food poisoning. Something that Montgomery County needs is an actual good Italian restaurant. Something that baffles me is why this restaurant is still open after all these years. Usually in smaller towns like Independence a restaurant like this won't stay in business for very long if the service, food, and prices suck like they do. Regardless I would never eat here again and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I was traveling through and stopped in for lunch. Really nice and friendly place. I travel a lot and it is nice to stop in a place that makes you feel at home. Had the pizza and it was good. Thin crust style with a good tomato sauce. I would definitely eat here again.
