Oakland Patios Perfect for Dining and Drinking | Eater SF

"It’s tough to beat Brotzeit Lokal’s waterfront beer garden, set right along the Oakland-Alameda Estuary. The star of the menu is a selection of sausages, but there are other German classics, plus 20 beers on draft and dozens more in bottles. Bonus: It’s kid- and dog-friendly." - Eater Staff

Delicious Discoveries Across California

"Open for years, tucked away and on the water; the name translates, to “bread-time” and the menu offers Bavarian fare with an emphasis on quality. Sausages are made from scratch at an offsite kitchen and the pretzels are from a local bakery. Gonna be honest you don’t really come here for the food you come here for the incredible service and the great location and vibe. The restaurant is on the water which at sunset can you ask for more?! Additionally the service kicked butt and was super great. Now here’s my only problem the food. The sausages were really great but the pretzel, the spaetzle, and the sauerkraut really were that good. They tasted store bought and even the best store bought versions of those items. If this place could up its food game it would be a solid 5/5. The food wasn’t horrible again the mains were great, but I really think they could step it up.

Lunch at german restaurant today. Excellent selection of sausages as auntry or ala cart as well as beer 🍺. Patio dining with view of bay. Highly recommend for you and your furry friend. 🐾

Google
Dinner & drinks outside on the water is highly recommended. They have a great beer selection and full bar. Happy hour until 6pm.

Google
Pilsner and blonde beer was really good. Brat plate and pretzel is legit. Good price point and quality. A short walk, like next door, to the hotel!

Google
Very nice ambience and service. We sat outside at the picnic tables, bit chilly and windy and perfect weather. Food was great! Looking forward to another trip in the evening and watching the sunset with a few beers!

Google
The atmosphere is nice. Location is on the water and there is indoor and outside seating. I at indoors facing out to the water. The food was alright the salad was good but the pork was not as flavorful as it looked. The service was non existent. I was sorry to have bothered their conversation to be seated and my order taken. I didn't get any refills or asked if I needed anything. By the end I really just wanted to leave but it took a while for the server to come around to get my payment.

Google
I enjoyed with my 2 girls the scenery and lovely weather. Mocktail. Moscow mule and pretzel. Seemed they were short staff. But I do want to come back with my mom. Seemed Small but special

Google
This beer garden has a great view of Brooklyn Basin and the channel between Oakland and Alameda. And they have a wonderful beer, cider, and cocktail selection with excellent sausages (the duck sausage was a-may-zing!) and great desserts. Our dining companions were less enthused about the schnitzel, and the potato dumplings were not very flavorful. But the pretzels are good and there is plenty to enjoy on the menu along with the view and drinks. I won't let so long go between visits next time...

Yelp
I was craving German food, and I was so glad we came to this place! The favorite thing my friends ordered here was the 2 sausages with spaetzle, sauerkraut, and pretzel. Definitely worth it. It was the best sauerkraut I have had in awhile I ordered the special goulash which was soul warming and went perfectly with the breaded potato ball they served it with. We ended the meal with apple strudel a la mode. It came out piping hot and paired perfectly with the vanilla bean ice cream. The service was friendly and casual. The vibe of the place is calm, casual, and not too noisy. Perfect place for a get together with friends for warm food and cold beer.

Yelp
We ate here for lunch. They had their brunch menu instead for lunch menu on the day we went. I decided on the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fried chicken sandwich was ok. I felt the sandwich could have used a bit of heat to it. The crispy parts of the chicken were enjoyable. I did like that the bun was toasted crispy. I will need to come back to try their dinner menu options.

Yelp
It's a German bar and restaurant at the Port of Oakland. Location is great for wandering around and walking at the port. Good variety of beers, sausages and schnitzel. Given the atmosphere as a casual spot it's an expensive place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Quick responsive service. Good for small groups, meetup and couples. Parking lot attached with limited spaces but still possible. Outdoor is easily accessible. Veggie options available. Ask for seasonal sausage and try venison for sure.

Yelp
I always enjoy going to this place and it never disappoints me. I brought a couple friends with me who's never been here so I sure hope everything was good. It was a busy day but we were able to get the last outside table. The waitress greeted us right away so we ordered some drinks. Some nice mimosas and a couple german beers, all very tasty. We then ordered the German pancakes to start and they came out right away. They tasted great and were cooked perfect. For our entrees we ordered the the Lokal wurst (brats) which came with fries, the eggs benedict, the schnitzel stack, and Wurzige and bratwurst sausages on the side. The sausages tasted great, good flavor, and the wurzige was not that spicy. The eggs benedict was cooked prefect and the flavor on the sauce was spot on great. The schnitzel was also cooked perfectly and very flaky which was good. There was plenty of food to eat. The service was great as it always is.

Yelp
I love Brotzeit. I love their view. I love their food. I love their beer selection. I love that they have a full bar. I love their service as well.

Yelp
I was hoping to try items on their lunch menu but apparently it wasn't available when they first opened at 11 am, just the brunch menu. I started with a bloody mary, which came with bacon, a marinated egg and pickled vegetables. Pretty good. For an appetizer, the potato pancakes, which tasted good. My main was the schnitzel stack which was shnitzel with an egg, gravy over a cheese muffin. Food was ok and the views overlooking the marina were nice.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, incredibly hearty brunch. Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and sat inside at a table facing the water, against the windows. It was very rainy that afternoon, so we had a great view of the steely water and sky. We went with the bier snack platter to start ($18), and I got the schnitzel stack ($18) with a side of spatzle ($5; this wasn't on the menu, but the waitress was happy to give me a side of it when I asked if that was possible). My husband got the Brotzeit sausage platter ($21). He went with the wurzige and special game sausages; the game that day was venison. I've been thinking about my schnitzel stack since I had it and desperately wanting another. It was so delicious and extremely generous in size. That mushroom gravy was wonderful, and the schnitzel was juicy and tender. The fried egg on top helped bring it all together with the runny yolk. I tried my husband's platter and thought both sausages were delicious. I'd never had venison before and thought it was great, not too gamey. The only thing I wasn't too big on was the bier snack platter. While the pretzel was soft and good, I didn't care for the cheese spread that came with it and felt beer cheese would've been a better pairing. The spicy peanuts were good, but this is really a better option for someone who loves pickles and pickled foods (which I don't). Overall, this was a very pleasant meal and we walked away stuffed. The wait staff were friendly, there was plenty of open seating to choose from when we walked in, and lots more on the brunch menu I wanted to try, to say nothing of the lunch and dinner menu and everything on it. I can't wait to come back here.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite during Oakland restaurant week. Tried the wurst and two eggs for brunch and a bretzel +obadzta with two drinks. The patio has a nice view and is dog friendly. The food was nothing to write home about. The sausage was a tad more greasy and otherwise average. The bretzel was good but not sure the obadzta spread (almost like cream cheese) added much. They originally didn't realize we never got our bretzel, so it came out afterward, and the wrong dish was dropped off; it had a pretzel on top so after taking a bite the server took the dish away (unclear if they just put a new pretzel on it and gave it to the correct table)... The location is a bit odd since you are next to a hotel and need to drive through the homewood suites hotel parking lot to get there (just go straight back). Service was okay. Probably wouldn't come back. If you're craving some German food, I'd recommend Speisekammer that's in Alameda!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here Sunday afternoon with zero expectations and found that I really enjoyed the experience. The location is a bit weird to find (you have to drive through the Homewood suites parking area), but you're rewarded with a nice view of the docks and a cozy little pub with quality food. We got the hammock (not on the menu for brunch, but you can ask for it and they'll accommodate if they aren't too busy) and the sausage plate. Hammock was impressive and I loved how crispy the outside was compared to the inside. Sausages were also very tasty (we got the two most popular as recommended by our waitress...don't remember what they were...) and overall this was just a great dining experience!

Yelp
I saw that MICHILIN guide reviewed this place somi gave it a go on DoorDash. It was DISGUSTUNG. The pork was half cooked, not crunching, nonexistent breading. I ordered toward closing so maybe cooker didn't give af and rushed cooking and wanted to go home? Sausages were ok, ate them the next day for lunch. Applestrudel was good but nothing amazing. The raw pork dish is a major NO for me though. I'm a large spender on food, and will not be coming back.

Yelp
Cute beer garden on the shore, a great place to hang out with friends outside when the weather is nice. Great views and delicious food, and a large selection of interesting beers. The food was very tasty, the sausages were flavorful and had a great snap, and the schnitzels were fried really well in that the meat was still juicy. I tried the seasonal game sausage which was pheasant, cilantro and ghost pepper jack when I went and it was incredibly tasty. Desserts were also very good, and the servers were friendly

Yelp
This restaurant is right by the waters and the outside is so beautiful, I loved all the scenery and calm seaside breeze. The calamari is amazing and the sausage platter did not disappoint!

Yelp
Brotzeit Lokal is an amazing restaurant with authentic German food! They hand make their sausages, sauerkraut, spätzle, and more daily. The view is amazing overlooking the water. They have a dozen + beers on tap with many more in bottles from around the world. They have indoor and outdoor seating and allow all pets in their outdoor seating. The restaurant is always clean and tidy. The employees provide excellent customer service. Highly recommended

Yelp
Excellent views and brews on the Oakland waterfront. Four of us stopped by after a long work week, and had appetizers and beers. I opted for the Old Rasputin Imperial Stout ($9.50). This was strong (9.6% ABV) but refreshing with strong Chocolate and coffee flavors, which I enjoy. We also ordered a platter of bretzel and obadzta (aka large soft pretzel and herb cream cheese spread) to "soak" up the alcohol! The views from our table on the deck were picture perfect and the cool breeze was welcome after a hot day spent mostly outdoors. We will be back.

Yelp
This hidden gem definitely hit the spot for us! A must-visit German restaurant with it's gorgeous scenery and views, scrumptious food, delicious desserts, wonderful selection of beers & beverages and a warm cozy vibe! Their Lokal Burger was so freaking good! Juicy succulent beef patty with Swiss cheese and lightly buttered & toasted to perfection brioche bun, served with 2 slices tomato, slice of onion, lettuce, a spear of pickle, plus a side of garlic fries! Heaven on a plate!!! From their dessert menu, we absolutely love their Apple Strudel. Perfectly filled with deliciously spiced apple filling and topped with cream & a drizzle of caramel. Served with a side of Vanilla ice cream.. SO GOOD!! Huge potion size, great to share. Lots of parking in the front (just avoid leaving your belongings in the car, break-ins are rampant!) Service is always excellent! The lady here makes sure everyone feels welcome and is very prompt with orders and is accommodating to requests. Gorgeous views from inside the restaurant as well as from the outdoor dining patio. There's a walking path around the water front right beside the restaurant with beautiful views!

Yelp
Food - delicious Service - ok Ambiance - fun ' cool Place is hidden behind a hotel, so it's easily missed. It has indoor and outdoor seating. First i did not expect much from a pub, however, food was surprisingly delicious and the drinks are off the hook. The clam chowder was loaded and the fish and chips were equally good. The fish was lightly battered and seasoned. It had a generous portions and very filling and satisfied. Great hang out place and it offered HH from 3 - 6pm on weekdays.

Yelp
We were hanging out with the kids at Brooklyn basin and decided to come to Brotzeit Lokal for dinner. So happy that we did. Ambiance is lovely overlooking the water and very chilled vibes. Food was really nice. We all had different dishes and we enjoyed everything from the sausage platter, the fries, the pretzels, pork schnitzel and their lovely beers! Would love to be back again to enjoy more food with friends. Kids had a blast!

Yelp
Came by on a Saturday for an early dinner with a party of 4. Found parking easily in the lot. They give you a parking ticket for your dashboard that's for 90 minutes. Place was pretty open. Most patrons sit along the waterfront view. We sat at a table on the inside. Did notice quite a bit of flies but it's just the nature of the waterfront & indoor/outdoor setting. Ordered the platter for 4-5 with pork shank, 5 kinds of sausages, & a bunch of sides. It was a pretty heavy meal & we definitely had a ton of leftovers. The pork shank was super crispy on the outside & extremely tender on the inside. Truly a highlight. The sausages started to blend together for me but really enjoyed that you could have a bit of everything here with this platter. Apple strudel was good with the added vanilla ice cream. I'm not a huge Apple strudel fan in general but it was decent & not super sweet so helped to end our heavy meal on a lighter note. Ordered the Mango Mule Mocktail with mango purée, lime juice & Fentinmans craft ginger beer after asking which mocktail was the sweetest. Really enjoyed it! Didn't think it was all that sweet & had a very nice balance. Would order this again. Service was great, no complaints there. Would come again to try out other items on the menu. Our beer loving friends really enjoyed their beers and wouldn't hesitate to come back here.

Yelp
Nice wait staff. Good food. Fish and chips were tasty. Fried fish was lightly battered and fried up crisp. Fried wwr like I & Out fries. Wiah the coleslaw had more flavor though. The Cilantro was a nice touch. We shared it was our first anniversary so they gave us two of the Underberg. That stuff is nasty. An acquired taste, for sure. Pretzel was warm and served with pickled red onions and a cream cheese / herb spread. There is a sign when you enter to NOT leave valuables in your car. Sure enough a SUV drove through the parking lot, smashed a windows on a customer's rental SUV and stole their luggage and laptop. Dammit! It only takes one person to ruin it. Staff sys there is security in the lot but wasn't right there, apparently. This might be ght keep us from returning. Not worth the risk.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food with exceptional portions sizes! The beer selection was great too. Our server was super nice. Came here for dinner and really enjoyed being right on the water.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
I was a little scared by some of the bad reviews. Fear not German food lovers. This place is legit. The portions are large, the flavors are good (the schnitzel did need a bit more salt) and the mustard is plentiful. They have a nice little patio for those seeking sunshine. The service is a little slow otherwise this would have been 5 stars.
google avatar

Verenice B.

Yelp
4 stars for its general location, drinks and happy hour! Super cute spot with Basin views and great beer selection. Bring your dog and have a time! No doubt about that. The third time I went, I got really nice service. Each time I've gone it's a been a different waiter, and sometimes being around cool people makes happy hour that much more joyful. Pros: Really love the canned beer I got- not on HH (happy hour). The snack platter and calamari are perfect snacks for happy hour-ing. Love the pretzel and anything pickled is great to me! Cons: I wanted to try a sausage. The list of options was long, and I had zero preference. Waiter recommended a "spicy" popular one. I think the Bratwurst. It was okay at best! The buns were burnt! This is the worst hot dog situation. Makes the bread hard and difficult to eat. Not a fan of the bread in anyway at this point. The sausage was ok. No real spice- don't understand how it can be labeled spicy. And the mustard is good, but I love my Top Dog Russian mustard way more tbh. Top Dog is still King in my heart. I'll have to try more from here, but was definitely disappointed. Would give 3 starts for this sausage situation, but they have more to offer than sausages, so that doesn't seem right. I'll definitely give their sausages another shot tho. This can't be the standard.

Yelp
We found the food great! My hubby started with a pretzel made in their kitchen--loved it dipped in spicy brown mustard (spicy). We shared a Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict with a salad. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the crab tasted fresh, and it was on a crisply cooked German Pancake. The salad was tossed ever so lightly. I liked the texture of the soft boiled egg contrasting the crisp pancake. My partner liked the idea of a Sunday Mass (a liter of beer) but decided it might be hard to drive home if he had one, so he got a Dirty Hoe instead--which he enjoyed, an I had a cider. I haven't had very much German food, and I enjoyed what we got there. I loved the ambiance with all of German knicknacks. It was especially nice being on the wsterfront, too. My only complaint was the shaking of the floor, which ok as long as there isn't an earthquake.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Food is outstanding here and German beers. Wait staff knowledgeable and attentive. The location can't be beat-- right on Oakland's estuary. I have brought friends here cause so friendly! The vibe is chill.
google avatar

Nina Z.

Yelp
Great deal! We came here back in March for Oakland Restaurant Week for their $45 prefixe menu, which included a drink (and I'm talking the alcoholic kind), appetizer, entree, and dessert. The place can be a bit difficult to find since its located behind a hotel near a harbor. They have outdoor and indoor seating available. Service is friendly, and all our food came out at the same time. Out of all the dishes we tried, I enjoyed their German beer cheese dip and their jagersnitzel. Overall, a great deal. Would love to come back for happy hour some time!
google avatar

Karina G.

Yelp
Awesome and expansive beer menu, but sadly the food fell short. The common sentiment was that the sausages lacked flavor, and sadly they were out of a few items when we dined. I'd suggest sticking to beer/cocktails and enjoy the views instead!
google avatar

Jakob S.

Yelp
Definitely German restaurant and Biergarten flair! The full menu has some pretty authentic German dishes. The home made lemon and grapefruit Radler are amazing (maybe a bit sour for some but I loved it). The one really big disappointment though was that they serve Weißwurst grilled and on Sauerkraut?l? And there is no sweet mustard. This can be considered an insult to a Bavarian! Especially since the Weißwurst itself is amazing, just served absolutely wrong! It needs to be heated in broth or at least hot water with a sacrifice Weißwurst and served with a Brezel, sweet mustard and a Hefeweizen. Pffft.. grilled on sauerkraut... !!?! The sad part was that I asked the server if it is served with a pretzel and sweet mustard and she said "sure you can add a pretzel and the mustards are on the table". I did not check until the grilled abomination was served but then I realized there was no sweet mustard to be found. My fault I guess... if I had known and double checked I'd ordered a bratwurst instead. And again the wurst itself would have been probably the best Weißwurst I've had in the states if prepared and served the traditional way.
google avatar

Augusto T.

Yelp
A great location for a drink and a snack. Getting a little bit buzzed on cocktails and beer sitting outdoors with a view of the Oakland basin on a warm afternoon. That's that this place delivers and what it delivers is a beautiful thing. Service was friendly, the snack plate complimented by drink nicely. The pretzel wasn't great, but the pickled veggies and egg were good. Definitely worth a quick pit stop if you're in the area. I would definitely come back to try more of their food.

Ryan K.

Yelp
The food, the service and the ambiance were all perfect. I'd absolutely come back here again and would strongly recommend the fries and curry ketchup that they make in house
google avatar

Yelp
Great day for a birthday brat and beer! Spend a few hours kayaking next door and be sure to come here for a beer to top off your day. They have a great beer selection and great views alongside the bay! Cheers!

Yelp
Great location, great food, fun atmosphere, staff could use some guidance in service. We had a very nice first round of drinks, when server asked if we were ready for a 2nd round we said yes, but first let's order some food. 2nd round of drinks appeared not to long afterwards, all good. Until the end of the 2nd round when we inquired as to where our food order had gone to since there was still no food on the table. (they were not very busy). Our server said "I'm so sorry, I'll bring the food and I'll cover this. Would you like a 3rd round?" We were greatful to (perhaps) received a comped meal (it was something for 4 people to share, not a huge order). We ordered a 3rd round and they brought out some more pickles, onions and a pretzel with an apology about the "lost" food order. As you probably have guessed we were still billed for the food but the pickles /onions/pretzel were comped. A bit of disappointing bait-and-switch, probably not the servers' fault- we're guessing the management vetoed the "comping" of a meal, albeit a very small meal. We noticed a similar lackadaisical attitude towards customers while watching the servers around us. Service Industry is a real thing people. We know you could have done better, but we didn't take it out of your 20% because we honor labor. But seriously...COULD BE BETTER

Michael K.

Yelp
The atmosphere, service and beers are great. However, the food quality and parking need improvement. The beer selection was great (albeit no Dunkel). It's a really cute place on the water. However tiny parking for this size restaurant. I came on a cold Monday night so parking was no problem, however, on a sunny weekend with a great outdoor space and water view, many customers are probably getting tickets or towed. Also it's Oakland, so they have SEVERAL signs with exclamation points warning you of thieves breaking into cars. The sausages and sauerkraut with bacon were great. BIG fails however were the Bretzel was unsalted, soft and wrinkled (microwave?) the spatzle was flavorless and cold. I had to order basic fries to make up for the bad starches served. Overall, if you're looking for a great German food move on. If you're looking for a a cool waterfront place for some beers and fries and are coming via public transportation or an Uber have a great time.
google avatar

Ruth C.

Yelp
Good spot in the bay to enjoy some beer and Americanized German style food. Pretzel was good, sausages were tasty but not super authentic. I liked the food but my german fiancé was not impressed. He's more critical when it comes to German food I guess. The place has a beautiful water view of the marina. Servers were great. I will come back again for sure.
google avatar

Jie L.

Yelp
We got recommended this place for German beer and food, so we stopped by. Thr location if this bar is a bit weird, go behind the hotel and you'll find it. We ordered 2 Bratz and a beer. The beer was pricey, but def German beer. Brats was overcooked and super salty, same was the pretzel. The Bratz were not cheap, and I was really hoping for better quality. Would not be coming back to this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Chillax place to grab a brew with your dog & enjoy the view of Alameda! We were seated right away & there were friendly dogs nearby. Enjoyed their michelada but will definitely be back to try some food next time & when that happens - I'll absolutely recommend to a friend!

Ken W.

Yelp
Haven't been here in quite a while, but it was very nice. We ate outside, which was glorious right on the water. Food was very good and service was very good also. I think it's a good go to kind of place. My only feedback is that I wish they had a broader German menu not just wiener schnitzel and sausages but things like sauerbraten or potato dumplings, etc.
google avatar

Shmike Z.

Yelp
Happy hour menu is great. They offer a few options of beer for 5$ and Garlic fries for 4$. Location is nice kinda of hidden on Embarcadero but the Brooklyn Basin but right on the water with good views
google avatar

Ariel L.

Yelp
This place is so awesome! Wish I knew about it sooner. Cannot wait to spend summer days here. Enjoyed the pretzel, calamari and pork shank myself. Everyone was happy with what they got!
google avatar

Shaun M.

Yelp
Visited this friendly little spot a couple weeks back. Was there with my pup and did not realize they had a pup friendly outdoor area so win right off the bat. One of the servers was even kind enough to fill up my dogs water bowl before I even had a chance to ask, or fill it myself. Had a very tasty beer and the Brotzeit Sausage Platter with the Weisswurst and Bratwurst. Both the sausages were quite good, but the sides were a bit sad and lacking. Still had a great time and would absolutely come back to have a few beers and try a few more sausages.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok we see this place also close to our hotel !! This was a German restaurant!! It was very busy and the service was good! Ambiance was nice with water views . Ok my friend ordered spicy chicken sandwich with fries and I have jagersnitchel ! It was a veal breaded with mushrooms and gravy with pasta and cabbage!! I told a while to get our food !! Oh I had raw oysters that were pretty good!! My friend sandwich was kinda cold and I didn't car for the plane pasta and sour cabbage!! The veal was tastie !! Needed mash potatoes and more gravy lol but over all not too bad!! I will put picks up
google avatar

Yelp
Really good sausages and beautiful view (right on the water). Would recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
This place was great. I went to have a beer and an appetizer and all the food looked so good I canceled my dinner plans with a customer at a different restaurant and stayed here. Happy hour German beer and calamari both were great. I then had the pork shank I took leftovers home and my wife and I ate it for dinner again. Spectacular place.

William L.

Yelp
Definitely a one and done spot.. The food was okay, but nothing authentic or that I couldn't just buy at the chefs store a 5 minute drive away. Also, a 3% service fee for the kitchen? I've literally paid for you to cook the food and you want a mandatory tip for the person doing the bare minimum of their job.. yeah, no.
google avatar

Dennis K.

Yelp
Maybe update you fuggin hours. All the way from SF to find out you're closed. Been trying to get here for a bit. Certainly my fault for not calling and just checking your socials and website.

Slava C.

Yelp
Another Sunday and figured to stop by to enjoy the view. Well, guess what Dash Service is still lacking and until you make yourself noticeable, nothing will happen. But once you do - you're all good. Anyway, burger is great and it comes in the open place with selection of fries or salads. Sunday mass at Brotzeit is not the greatest although Hoogarden is still the best! Not too many changes to rating, so please get solid three stars for the views, beers and food quality. Cheers!

I've never had German food before so a friend recommended I try this place. It's located next to the Homewood Suites and Brooklyn basin apartments. There's a road between the two you can drive into and the restaurant is located in the back. We got the Sausage Platter with pretzel. The pretzel was soft and warm. Our 2 sausage choices were the bratwurst and wurzige. Both were tender, juicy and flavorful. The sauerkraut taste reminded me of lays dill pickle flavored potato chips. The spatzle tasted like egg noodles. Everything tasted delicious. We also got the Jagerschnitzel and the mushroom gravy was probably the best part. The red cabbage tasted plain. The spatzle became a little harder to eat after eating the ones from the sausage platter. The pork cutlet was a little dry. Once I started dipping everything into the mushroom gravy, it all started to taste good. The mushroom gravy was that good. Service was great. Staff was friendly and nice. We got seated inside with a nice view. Table already had utensils, napkins and condiments. Our server brought a pitcher of water and cups without us asking. Food was quick to come out.

Yelp
Let's start off with the customer service upon entry: Basically it was my in law's birthday, me and two other family members came a little late (Filipino time) per usual and were greeted with hostility from the waitress. Looked like she was the only one there too. Anywho- the passive aggressiveness was definitely not cute and realizing that my family had to deal with that bullshit til we got there and a little while more til we got our food was definitely not it :) they were trying to let me and my cousin in law know that the waitress was the only one there but it doesn't mean she has to give a stank attitude!!!!! Literally every interaction at the table was some unnecessary comment. Examples/ Upon seating: we were late so we squished into a nice sized table and since the stools were too big to be at the table we asked if it was possible to use one of the seats outside. She responded: well I don't want to just take a seat from a customer's table. Literally then don't? Take one that isn't in use? LOL Acted like we wanted her to take a seat from under someone but ok My auntie asked if the food they ordered (sausage platter) was arriving and she ordered this wayyyy before my group arrived and she said "ummm yeah it hasn't came but is there anything else you guys need? Cause you been asking for a lot of stuff every time I come here" like girl it is not that serious especially with that tone. And isn't that your job? To serve? But ok Another part was when we ordered our food and received it, my aunt asked for more plates so we could all share the food. This girl goes "okay is there any food I can put in for you guys" my aunt goes "no just the plates thank you" and she wanna say "OK But is there more food???" I was like wtf who is she talking toooooo sister obviously not lmaoooo I just wanted to save everyone's breath on my table so I flat out said No. The funny part everyone knew she had a stank ass attitude!!!!!!!!! Ok miss burgundy shirt girl Let's get to the food part tho Basically everything we ordered was bomb Burger was great even though my boyfriend ordered a extra patty and the waitress goes "oh well that's new" she literally had something to say about fucking everything Like you're literally prolonging the interaction but go off The oysters were yum. Fresh sweet creamy Wiener schnitzel was okay basically a pork cutlet can't go wrong with that. Def wanna get gravy next time so maybe during brunch The sausage platter was amazing but I think they were missing the bretzel? Idk maybe a menu change but it says it's included on the menu Heard the onion rings were bomb didn't try it but everyone around the table agreed Drinks from the bar were strong! Lokal margarita pretty good Halfway thru the waitress changed her attitude and was quote on quote nice. Weird but ok TL;DR Ima keep it four stars regardless of the attitude just because the location was beautiful and the food was great. Disregarding our waitress cuz I do not care about her 8/10 overall experience

Yelp
I would give this place a full 5 stars for service and food but they started engaging in slimy business practices, misleading and lying to customers -- last weekend I saw an extra surcharge on my bill for no reason and it wasn't posted anywhere upfront. An extra 3% for Oakland living wage or some BS? No thanks! Get outta town with this nonsense. I used to recommend this place but I won't anymore.
