London’s Best Caribbean Food and Restaurants - Eater London

"Brown Eagle located right across from White Hart Lane in the rapidly changing Tottenham high street has a log cabin type feel immediately reminiscent of the tropics. While the menu focuses on Caribbean latter-day mainstays like oxtail and brown stew, the eponymous special fish or chicken are an obvious choice; a “secret spicy seasoned” option not found anywhere else in London." - Riaz Phillips

Update 5th July 2025 Oh how the service has dropped. We waited ages just the 2 of us at the tallest counter ever: my friend's hair just peeping over it. I ordered ackee and salt fish with rice and peas it was delicious and asked whether we could sit in to eat, hoping for table service. I was told yes by the male server but I later found as I only ordered a regular that I had to pay £1 extra to eat in. I didn't have a problem but it doesn't say on their menu. I would have paid £16.50 large instead of £14.50 regular to have my food served at table on a plate with cutlery. Uber orders took priority, other regular customers served before my friend, felt ignored, like unwanted customers, they're doing us a favour. Another friend came in, was overlooked as well as her order was take away. I like buying from my culture but this service is appalling not sure I won't be back ... No longer relevant We attended Brown Eagle on Saturday 22nd July 2023 whilst attending Courage Women's conference. The restaurant was clean and inviting and fortunately for us only drivers were waiting for orders. We were warmly greeted and asked what we would like. Unfortunately, no hot drinks were available but they have a good variety of cold beverages - some homemade. I ordered curry goat, rice and peas that came with salad. Coleslaw is extra. My food was well presented on a large plate, a good value for money portion. It tasted like my mum's curry and that takes some beating. A definite 5 star eating experience I would recommend. Thank you- it made our after conference session a little uncomfortable as I wanted to sleep it off.

The fried chicken they tried to give me via Uber eats was RAW from time I opened the box I could smell a raw chicken smell, on further inspection the chicken was undercooked.

This is by far one of the best #Jamaican food I have had in London. Quite near to Alexander Palace (Ally Pally). Parking is a bit tricky and extortionate, but the food lifted the spirits as the curry goat was cooked to perfection 👏 I do not know why there are so many low reviews, they are nice folks serving good food.

Horrible experience at Brown Eagle Restaurant! They got my takeaway order completely wrong and served me two tiny, bony pieces of chicken that tasted like it was a week old and reheated. Disgusting! Will never go back! Avoid this place!

The food from Brown Eagle is generally very nice. However the service can be very mixed. Whenever I get food from here the miserable older woman never puts enough sauce (curry goat or oxtail) on the meal. So I end up with one sitting with plenty of sauce and left overs of just rice and a meagre bit of sauce. I'm more than happy to pay for an extra helping of curry goat or oxtail. But I'm never listened to.

Have been eating from them for over 21 years I know this asbi discovered them when I was pregnant and my son is now 21, food back them was excellent like you cooked it yourself if your west indian fast forward 15 years standards start to drop rude staff, that weird lady in woodgreen with the funny eye, serving women small meals in large boxes , you get home and your partners like Where's the rest of the meal... got to th3 point if you wanted what you paid for you'd have to send in a man, anyway ordered a few times after that had paper in my roti where its been shop bought and the paper that seeperates them is not removed property , noticed time after time the meat isn't even prepared properly not being trimmed to remove fat or blood vessels ordered today and was disgusted, the foodnis clearly being cooked in large industrial pots as seasoning is not matching up at all curry goat just now tates like curry meat no essence of traditional curry goat came across these blood vessels and that was it for me I'm done never ordering again sad
