This review is about 7 months overdue, so the details are not as fresh. It took me a while to post because I wasn't really sure how I felt about the entire experience to be honest. That said, I'll start with something I was very happy with, the food. The food was phenomenal, packed with flavor, and clearly freshly made. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The sauce was perfectly balanced, the grits were creamy and the perfect texture (you can't eat everybody's grits), and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I was thoroughly pleased with the food, and while I wouldn't make the trip from Waco just to visit, if/when I'm in Dallas again, I definitely wouldn't mind revisiting. Everyone in my group loved the meal!
As far as the overall experience, I don't have anything to complain about at all, but I don't have anything to praise either. My group sat inside, and there wasn't much going on as far as decor. It was simple and intimate; just a few tables, very clean and tidy, everything seemed to flow well. I didn't like that there's a time limit on the table given that we had to wait past our reservation time, but it really wasn't an issue at all as far as having enough time to eat. The food did take a bit, but it came out piping hot, so the give and take was to be expected. As far as customer service, it was non existent, but not in a bad way, we ordered from our phones so we never really saw/engaged with anyone from seating until the food was delivered, which didn't bother me at all...but if you're a needy diner it might not work for you.
Overall the experience was ok, but the food was great. If you need a lot of face time with the employees, you probably won't enjoy the process of ordering, eating, paying, and leaving with minimal interaction. But if you're looking for great food you'll find it here!
