Chicago’s Best Breakfast Spots

"Chef and owner Manny Mejia, who previously worked at M. Henry and Marmalade and also owns Big Hill, turns out dishes with global influences at this North Park gem. The eclectic selection includes a Caprese omelet, blackberry and kiwi French toast, scallion pancakes with eggs and pork belly, and French toast stuffed with Canadian bacon. Expect crowds and a wait on weekends. A second outpost is located in Belmont Gardens. Order online here." - Samantha Nelson, Eater Staff

Here’s what you need to know: Really enjoyed our Sunday breakfast here. Good service and excellent food. No wait at 10AM for a party of 8 on a summer Sunday morning - thank goodness. It gets busier by 11. Steak skillet with Gorgonzola and the fried chicken and waffles are standouts. Excellent pancakes too with fresh squeezed orange juice. We will be back

Google
Delicious brunch spot! We tried the banana waffle, peach pancake, and tofu acorn squash—and every dish was fantastic. The flavors were fresh and creative, and the presentation matched the quality. The staff was super friendly, there was no wait, and we easily found street parking. The atmosphere was eclectic and fun—every corner had character, even the bathroom! The only downside was the noise level. It got pretty loud with the crowd and minimal sound absorption, so conversation was a bit tricky at times. Still, it didn’t take away from a great experience overall. Definitely worth a visit!

This restaurant was packed! The tables are close together to maximize the number of guests they can accommodate. We didn’t mind it though because even though we had 8 people, we sat at our table 10 minutes after checking in. The bread pudding french toast was a clear favorite. I loved the rich chocolate and strong espresso in the mocha. The staff wad kind, attentive, and quick.

Google
Wow. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by pancakes but damn were they good. I ordered a mint tea, fruit salad, and mango strawberry pancakes, my partner got the chilaquiles Verdes and cold brew. These pancakes gave me life. Texturely amazing. Having granola, fresh fruit, fruit compote, and margarine on perfect pancakes was a dream. The fruit salad was a really nice mix + cut in small pieces which I liked. My partner's chilaquiles were good, and we loved the homemade chips and sauce. But the eggs were definitely very easy (ordered over easy, next time will do medium) and the rice with beans was okay. I think we prefer having beans and rice separately, tbh. The setting itself was super cute, and I noticed our server was serving the whole restaurant. But along with the bussers and other people coming around, there wasn't a moment I felt uncared for. You could tell they were an excellent team. Definitely a lil pricey but hey, that's the world we live in. Thanks for a really yummy breakfast y'all.

Google
Wow, this was one of the best breakfasts / brunches we have had in a while!!! My Caribbean omelette was chocked full of shrimp and fresh avocado and my husband’s chorizo skillet came with 6 homemade tortillas. The breakfast potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had. The cocktails were amazing too. We’ve wanted to try this place for a while now and I’m so glad we did! Can’t wait to come back again. Friendly and fast service too — What a great little neighborhood gem!

Google
LOVED the scallion pancakes and the lemon blueberry pancakes! Went yesterday morning and still thinking about how amazing it was. It was my first time here and I was blown away by how delicious the food was. Will definitely be coming back here to try more!

Google
We had an incredible meal at Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club! The food was absolutely top tier — every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. We ordered the chicken and waffles, chilaquiles with steak, and the chorizo skillet — all delicious and packed with bold, satisfying flavors. Our server was amazing — super friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions that made choosing even easier. Big shoutout for the latte art too — not only was it Instagram-worthy, but the coffee was rich and smooth. Plenty of street parking made it an easy visit, and the vibe of the place was perfect for a relaxed yet elevated brunch. Definitely one of my new go-to spots in the city. Highly recommend!

Google
Came in here after Reddit said “best biscuits & gravy” and boy I’m glad we did! first time dining in and will absolutely be back. Great service, great food, and awesome atmosphere. Seriously so CUTE inside. You have to see it for yourself. Ask for a side of the biscuits and gravy with anything you order! (We ended up ordering an extra side LOL) biscuits were perfect Try the waffles with some of the sausage gravy!

Yelp
The Chorizo Skillet is a hearty ensemble that showcases the kitchen's ability to balance flavors and textures. A foundation of roasted potato hash is topped with two eggs and a generous portion of chorizo, creating a satisfying base. The addition of onions, tomatoes, and black beans provides a welcome contrast to the richness of the meat, while cheddar cheese adds a layer of indulgence. The crowning touches of avocado, sour cream, and chipotle sauce demonstrate a thoughtful approach to flavor composition, with each element serving a distinct purpose in the dish's overall profile. The Breakfast Torta, while less elaborate, is no less considered in its construction. This Mexican-inspired sandwich features chorizo, melted chihuahua cheese, and scrambled eggs on a telera bun. The inclusion of adobo sauce is particularly noteworthy, adding a complex, smoky depth that elevates the sandwich beyond a simple breakfast offering. In my opinion, both dishes reflect Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club's commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtful flavor combinations. The restaurant's approach to breakfast and brunch demonstrates a creative fusion of American, Caribbean, Mexican, and even Korean influences, resulting in a menu that stands out in Chicago's competitive brunch scene.

Yelp
What a great gem! We were seated quickly and the service was just as quick. The chilaquiles were just the right amount of spice. The sauce didn't cause the tortillas to become soggy quickly. I would split the banana fosters French toast, it's HUGE. And delish. Just the right amount of sweet. Gotta take my family here one day.
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club! The food was delicious! Very fresh and light! Ordered the skirt steak skillet, which came out perfect. My friend ordered the French toast which she loved. The service was really good too! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Nice cozy small place but the food was excellent. The service was great and polite. I will definitely go visit again.

Yelp
They seated us really, really fast and once we placed our order, the food was super fast coming out, even when they were busy. The food though... just wasn't good. I was amazed at how fast the food came out, but if it's just not tasty, it's not really worth it. Our waiter before we ordered suggested we get some more sweet stuff instead of just savory, and we should've listened. the fried plantains aka the only sweet thing we ordered, hands-down was the best thing on the menu. If you go with multiple people one person should get a salty thing and one person should get a sweet entree to make sure you're trying a good variety.

Giselle L.

Yelp
My go to breakfast place. Have tried many things on the menu. My faves are the rustic quiche, the bread pudding French toast and the Caribbean omelette. Servers are friendly and efficient. The downside is the wait on the weekends. But it is worth it. It is conversation friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
It's my first time at the Breakfast Club. There isn't a hostess or wait-to-be-seated sign; you have to ask one of the servers to be seated. I like how spacious it is; there's plenty of seating. My server came over right away with menus and water. A couple of minutes later, my waitress took my order. I chose the Biscuits & Gravy (see photo}, and liked everything on the plate except the biscuits. They were a little "doughy," not fluffy at all, and they didn't put much gravy on top compared to the other items, which were generous. I especially liked the breakfast potatoes, which had just the right amount of seasonings. The waitstaff was courteous and prompt. The bathrooms were clean and gender-neutral.

Yelp
Bryn Mayr finally takes breakfast classics and gets creative. The hot honey chicken and waffles were good, and the chicken was crispy and juicy, but the dish was a little too sweet. The waffles already had maple in them and the hot honey sweetened everything. It could've benefitted from a little acid, maybe even marinated in some pickle juice or something like that to cut some sweetness. The bread pudding French toast was also super sweet and had an orange cream on top as well. The fruit helped balance some out but not enough. It was really soft and texturally delightful. The wait was super fast and we got seated in less than 5 min. The staff was super nice and when we ordered the bread pudding to share he made sure it came out at the end so we could share that as a little dessert.

Yelp
Food is very tasty and beautifully cooked and prepared. Good amount and service is very pleasant and quick. Charming decoration and we love this place. We tried the other location, too, and both amazing. Ample tables but very popular and packed. Waiting time is not bad at all. 10 min on Sunday. Recommended. A gem in Chicago.
google avatar

Elanna M.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 3. There was a little bit of a wait, but not too bad. It was our first time and we will definitely be back! I got the carnitas skillet - which was so flavorful and the carnitas were soo tender - my husband got chicken verdes chilaquiles and my mother got chiliquiles rojos. All of the food was so good. I can't wait to come back and try more items as well as some of their cocktails!
google avatar

Lisa Z.

Yelp
Delightful. Bring a $100 bill. Worth it though. We had peach blueberry French toast, and a Caribbean omelette with shrimp, cream cheese, cilantro and the works. The bloody Mary's are great, nice hot coffee and a breakfast margarita. Our waitress was attentive and the service was fast! Don't let the full dining room scare you, there's plenty of seating packed in nooks and corners you can't see!!
google avatar

Alton B.

Yelp
Service was outstanding, loved the spacious seating area and the food and Horchata was amazing. Prices are reasonable and you won't leave hungry.

D R.

Yelp
Just Ok. It's nice they're in our area since it's a desert sort of place. They lean toward Mex food which is fine but wish they could diversify a bit. For instance- alternatives to pork bacon, like turkey and non meat-Beyond breakfast sausage. The non meat sausage they do offer is AWFUL Awful. I tried 2x's-no mas. So much of the food is for people who like a lot of food on a plate(skillets-casserole like dishes). And maybe offer pasture raised eggs. Would also like for them to finally get rid of the fruit flies. I go there to eat about once a month & the fruit flies are problem. Last time I saw another patron trying to kill the flies while eating. They have a problem in the kitchen which needs a super clean to rid.
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Food was good, ordered a breakfast burrito with coffee. The wait was a little long but that was understandable due us going on Labor Day. Only thing that was frustrating was the payment policy. They will not split a bill and have a 2 credit card max. For larger parties this is not the most convienant form of paym
google avatar

Yelp
So so so good! The service was very quick and efficient. Servers were attentive and helpful on such a big menu. The food was amazing. Words can't describe how pleased we were with the flavors of the stuffed toast and the autumn omelette. Ambiance was very vast but cozy simultaneously. They had an outdoor patio as well. We will be back!
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Food was good, not great, I have the steak skillet, it was missing an egg which was disappointing! Service was great and ambiance was also nice
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
This place is super laid back and flexible. We came in one Saturday morning and I ordered off the menu and they didn't bat an eye. I asked if I could get a classic eggs Benedict and they could do that. It was excellent. I asked for an orange juice with bourbon and they brought out a tall OJ with a shot of bourbon on the side. Perfection! Pancakes (on the menu) are superb.

Alana W.

Yelp
I always order off the specials menu, their seasonal waffles/pancakes/french toasts are incredddddiiiibbllleeeee. Their Horchata iced lattes are really good too.
google avatar

Yelp
Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club was on my list of things to do for breakfast and it did not disappoint at all. Food: The waiter, whose name I unfortunately forget, suggested the bread pudding french toast with had an orange coulis and mascarpone cheese which was to die for. It felt so light in the process of eating it and made for a very nice breakfast. Service: The service was fantastic and I noticed it appeared to be like a well oiled machine. Aesthetic: Very well kept place with outdoor seating (which I should have taken advantage of that morning). Beautiful place overall.

Yelp
Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club is a great place to try! I absolutely love the environment and the staff is really friendly. I wouldn't consider this a typical breakfast menu, I do think they have some traditional options but also a lot of more unique dishes. I've enjoyed all the ones I've had, including the biscuits and gravy, blackberry and kiwi French toast and the caprese omelette.

Karla P.

Yelp
Such a cute place. Every menu item is delicious and beautiful. Also, they have a cocktail menu which is to die for. Enjoyed every part of it. Great for girls brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a lovely neighborhood breakfast spot. They're FCFS for seating and there's plenty of easy street parking (pay to park) out front. The service was excellent and the food was really really good. I ended up sharing a couple dishes w a homie. We got the pajun pancake and the key lime and blueberry French toast. Both dishes exploded with flavor. The pajun pancake had an amazing sauce on the side that was packed with umami flavor. The pancake itself was chewy and delicious, I wasn't expecting to see a Korean fusion type dish on the menu, and it did not disappoint! The key lime blueberry French toast was also so yummy. Would def come back!

Spencer S.

Yelp
Wholesome neighborhood place for brunch. Special food in a familiar setting. We came Saturday around noon, peak brunch time. Wait time was short, only about 5-10min. Service was good. And our food came out quickly. The menu is mostly traditional American dishes, occasionally with modern twists (ex: acorn squash, tofu, and Brussels sprouts). The rest of the menu crosses cuisines (ex scallion pancakes, caprese, plantains) and all of it is executed well. The result is a menu that's familiar yet interesting.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Fast service. One of the top brunch spots in the US according to Yelp! Only a 10min wait for a table on a Sunday or counter seating available immediately.
google avatar

Yelp
Little place tucked away, if you're not looking for it, could be easy to miss. Came for the first time for a late breakfast on a Tuesday. The reviews on this place did not disappoint! Very inviting atmosphere, excellent service, and super yummy food. If you like the custard texture of bread pudding, then the bread pudding French toast will be your new best friend!! I will definitely be back soon!!!
google avatar

Britt M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite, service was great. Food came out super quick, and fresh. They were relatively busy but they sat us right away. Loved the sourdough stuffed French toast, this is more a sandwich style. Added syrup and it was a perfect breakfast. Portions were nicely sized. Would go back!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome with an eclectic menu of breakfast/brunch/lunch items crossing American, Caribbean, Mexican, and Korean food. It was incredibly hard to decide what to eat because we wanted to eat everything. The portions are generous as well. We landed on sharing the Blackberry Kiwi French Toast that had really good fruit on it for early June, deep malty flavor in the bread, delightful mascarpone and rich blackberry syrup jam all around. Savory-wise I got the BBC(?) bop with the Shanghai red-braised pulled pork added. Wow, big heavy serving bowl for one of fresh veggies, and well-seasoned quinoa and mushrooms with tender pulled pork added. Looking forward to the next time!

Mackenzie N.

Yelp
Such great food! Loved the fresh toast and hot chocolate. Great comfy and homey vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
A breakfast feast that does not disappoint. Everything we ordered was top tier. Wait was around 20 to 30min upon arrival. We'll worth the wait. Every nook and corner gives a comforting vibe - decor was on point. Every table has fresh flowers. Vegetable Skillet- 5/5 had more potatoes than expected, seasoning was on point, with over easy egg Sourdough stuffed French toast 5/5 amazing Chilaquiles 5/5 what a sauce Unlimited coffee Hands down best brunch spot in the area. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Yelp
Was in Chicago 4 parents w/e and bryn mawr breakfast club was highly recommended n thought we'd try it. Had a 15 min wait. Nice clean restaurant w friendly staff. So many good yummy items on menu and was a tough choice. We settled on the chillaquiles, pajun pancake and spicy chicken n waffles. The chillaquiles was tortilla chips cooked in homemade spicy salsa n topped with Cortila cheese n was delicious. The pajun pancake was out of this world. So different had a Korean influence w scallion pancake n pork belly n my fav Brussels sprouts. Came w home fries. The chicken n waffle was delicious too. Though stuffed to max The menu had some other interesting n yummy items that we could get half portions so thought we'd try them too, so we got the yum yum pumpkin hotcake n banana waffle. Both were to die for . Yum yum. Tx u 4 a great Sunday brunch.

Yelp
I love This restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. It can get very busy, since it is extremely popular

Yelp
Came here for Mother's Day. Fantastic food selection and cozy, homey atmosphere. Top notch hibiscus drink. Great staff - def recommend.
google avatar

Marina C.

Yelp
The food was excellent, and the plating was beautiful. This is probably one of the best brunches I've had in Chicago. My favorite sweet dish was the peach and strawberry pancakes. They were on the specials menu, so I'm not sure how long they will be offered. My favorite savory was the skirt steak skillet. Loved it. So flavorful. I will definitely be coming here again. The menu was short and sweet while still offering a variety of sweet and savory dishes. A bit on the pricer side, however, with some entrees going up to $20 (like the skirt steak skillet). The portions are reasonable, and the service was good. Note: There isn't a dedicated parking lot, so you will have to find street parking.

Zina J.

Yelp
Needed a breakfast place in the neighborhood. Food was delicious. Homey feeling and a GREAT bar menu
google avatar

Nathaniel Angelo B.

Yelp
It was my first time eating here with my friend and I had a good experience! The food was good and the service was great! I recommend it if you're in the area and looking for a place to eat breakfast.
google avatar

Genna H.

Yelp
My first time here was amazing. I literally could not wait to write this so someone could know about it. Service was off the bat very good, we went for brunch on the weekend so it was obviously packed but we didn't wait long at all and got a table for 4. The fresh orange juice was stunning delicious and amazing. The breakfast burrito I got was soooo sooo good. Like I can't wait to eat it again. I dream of it. PRO TIP. If you get this burrito order the adobo sauce on the side such a good menu hack the server told me about so you can dip it in the most concentrated flavorful sauce ever. Not super spicy just lots of flavor!!!!!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Eye-catching comfort decor. I need a neighborhood family spot, and has become it. Attentive staff. Very solid brunch cocktail game. Food equally an all-round winner. Really felt like it had it all. My new favorite neighborhood spot.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Great breakfast options in a nice atmosphere. Even the children's menu options felt fancy and nice. Great coffee AND the waiter offered us to-go cups. We were all really happy with our meals but it was a little more on the expensive side then we prefer to spend for a general weekend breakfast. This is will be a special occasion bunch! Note: they only seat complete parties.
google avatar

June F.

Yelp
Had the French toast and coffee. The service was excellent and although we waited for a table, they were accommodating and sat us pretty quickly. Everything was hot and we all had a nice Sunday brunch!
google avatar

Celina G.

Yelp
The best breakfast/brunch I've had in a long time!! Came here on a Sunday and it was perfect. I got a veggie skillet and half order of the guava pancakes. The skillet was a great size, eggs were cooked as requested. The pancakes tho..: AMAZING, I would have ordered a full stack if I knew how good they'd be. My bf got the lemon crab cake Benedict and also said it tasted great. His half order was of thr bread pudding French toast which I tried as well and also worthy of a full order! I can't wait to go again. Our waiter was also amazing and although it was busy it wasn't too noisy bc it's split to two rooms.
google avatar

Avanti A.

Yelp
The only thing I would complain about is I didn't think of making a reservation ahead, Ofcourse what was I thinking that too for a Sunday brunch. By the time I went there and got food to the table it took almost an hour and half tops so please plan ahead. This place gets super busy. The person who served our was okay but there's other people seemed to be friendly and welcoming and helped us securing the table. Food was delicious, simple yet so flavorful. There's no dedicated parking space available si you'd have to find street parking that's close by. Ambience was okay to me as it was crowded and loud but it's worth it. My favorite of all is the mango blueberry French toast coz it definitely surprise me. It wasn't too sweet and flavors complemented each other, perfect for me but if you are a sweet tooth you might wanna go with other options. Breakfast burrito I've had meat replaced with chicken sausage and it was absolutely delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place!!

RK G.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! Friendly, tasty and will return. Good vibes and interesting menu

Louie N.

Yelp
Delish food, and superb customer service. The atmosphere is great, and the Servers are very efficient!

Yelp
Great comfort food- variety of breakfast/lunch options! All the dishes come out fast and all delicious. Service is quick and friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Street Parking was easy to find in front of the restaurant.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service! We went here on a Sunday at around noon and only had to wait 5 min for a table for 2, since we were flexible on sitting inside or outside. They have a nice patio out back, and that's where we wound up sitting. Our waiter was extremely attentive and after ordering, our food came in only 5 minutes! It was all delicious. I got the lemon crab cake Benedict which was huge and filling. My bf got the stuffed sourdough French toast which he really liked. What stood out to me here the most was the service - I wish I had gotten our waiter's name. He was fantastic!!! He just as attentive as a waiter at a super upscale place!
google avatar

Summer S.

Yelp
Came here during lunch hours but only waited for 15min till seated. The food is huge portion wise and it's really tasty!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
This breakfast spot holds a soft spot for me and my wife when we used to be in college looking for an awesome breakfast spot in the morning to make our usual. We used to go to the smaller location across the street glad they were able to stay close. The staff is what always did it for us they are all very attentive and orders come out very quickly. I ordered my usual breakfast burrito, could never find another breakfast burrito as good as this in the suburbs The Lemon Crab Cake Benedict is the spotlight dish since its only offered on the weekends. One bite and you'll understand why. If your looking for a new breakfast spot Bryn Mawr is the way to go
google avatar

Angelina I.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and this place did not disappoint! Servers were friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious! We had the mollete special, bread pudding french toast, stuffed french toast, breakfast torta and horchata lattes. Everything was great, but my favorites were the sourdough stuffed French toast and the bread pudding French toast! Highly recommend this cute spot for brunch.

Yelp
Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club is fantastic, fresh ingredients, friendly staff, great food and great all around experience.
