Fellow Westside Koreans, rejoice!
Now, some of yall are good Koreans who can (a) keep kimchi in your fridge/have a kimchi fridge and (b) keep it there long enough that you get the level of fermentation that makes it ready for kimchijjigae.
I am a horrible Korean. Not only am I not keeping kimchi in my fridge that long, I'm not keeping kimchi in my fridge period. Sorry. It smells. I can say that, I'm Korean.
Anyway aside from the fact that this place's name is shared with a ticker for a very specific cryptocurrency that's definitely going to lead to SEO nightmares... it's a pretty solid place to get Korean food.
When I can get some kimchijjigae to go at a price comparable to what you'd pay in Orange County or Koreatown, roughly a 15 minute drive (if no traffic) from my place, you bet I'm going to have a pretty serious bias convincing myself that it's good.
Luckily even without bias this is a pretty good kimchijjigae. The cabbage is a little big/wide but it's cooked to a nice soft texture. The tofu cubes are neatly cut, and yeah, we're not talking about all the pork belly in the world in there. It won't matter.
It is so delicious with rice. Just perfectly seasoned. I appreciate it doesn't go into "too salty/weirdly sweet" territory as most restaurant kimchijjigaes tend to be. If anything I like my kimchijjigae with a splash of toasted sesame oil and yes, as bad a Korean as I am, I definitely keep a bottle of that at home. It comes with a little side of rice (cooked pretty decently with a bite in the grains nice and distinct, by the way, which definitely counts for something), which is a necessity. This is as good as Korean food gets without driving like 40 minutes to Koreatown.
The chicken wings are large and have a good crispy batter, also. I tried the soy garlic which was a little sweet, and the original (no sauce) which maybe wasn't my favorite flavor, but they'll be some of the better Korean fried chicken you can get on this side of town. (I am not a BHC and Pelicana fan).
As I get older I've adopted much more of a "I'll take what I need and not more than that" mindset... BTC is what you need and not much more than that. The storefront is pretty sparse, just screaming white lighting inside which absolutely destroyed my poor dark-mode loving retinas... luckily you don't have to stay in there too long, just pick it up and go.
I haven't tried the Mexican food or burgers (not overly curious about that part), but the Korean food is definitely as good as it gets on this side of town.
