"The pad kee mao at Bua 9 is worth the trip alone to the casual Thai restaurant off Rainier Ave. These drunken noodles have a nice kick from chili jam, little charred bits on the egg and noodle edges, and crisp vegetables. You also shouldn’t miss Bua 9’s curries—come with a friend and split one of each." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

I decided to try Bua 9 Thai Cuisine after Dim Sum King was closed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their Rad Nah shrimp. The flavors were authentic and the dish was cooked to perfection. The combination of sweet soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, and soybean paste created a delicious and satisfying meal. It's rare to find a place that can truly capture the essence of traditional Thai cuisine like Bua 9 Thai Cuisine does.

I’ve traveled Thailand over 15x and the ENTIRE MAP. I can’t express how much more authentic this place can get . Everything here is 🔥. Besides not being as spicy even at a 5 star it Taste just like Thailand! Understandable tho because they have to change spice levels to please the white people salt and pepper taste buds. Highly recommend if you want authentic Thai food!

Walked in for a decent lunch special. While tasty, was underwhelmed by noodle quality of the drunken noodles; it was soft and mushy. Much prefer Thai Tom in terms of food quality.

It's Thai, one of the best cuisines in the world. Portion sizes are American, price is Seattle, vegetable choices are a little different from Thailand as the US has more in season vegetable choices which are different but nice, taste excellent. I'll be back most definitely.

This is the exact type of no-frill all-flavor Asian food I’ve been looking for in Seattle! I ordered lunch pretty late (2+pm) and was also a few minutes late to pickup, they were almost empty when I got there but I was immediately greeted with warmness by the owner. As a fellow southeast Asian, the flavor is incredible, the portions are huge (only 1/3 left in photo) and the food is healthy and fresh (vs the Americanized Asian food often found in Seattle). Only complaint is it was so good I started feeling homesick! I will be back for lunch every week. An easy 10/10. UPDATE: I went back for lunch the next day and got a different dish. Still 10/10.

This is my new favorite Thai place in town. Food is fresh and delicious. Stand out dishes for us were Drunken noodles and rainbow trout salad (in the specials menu) though the yellow curry tofu was stellar too. It is open kitchen and it was so cool to see three 'moms' cooking. Was charming and authentic. Service was good but surprisingly most of the folks were doing takeout. Heads up the spice level was not very consistent. Definitely recommend if you are in the mood for some Thai in Columbia City though I will come here just for Bua 9.

Good food, decent prices and convenient location! The Massaman curry was really good! Little bit spicy for me but was definitely yummy and came with a decent amount of rice. Wasn't too big of a portion though, I could have used a bit more for the actual curry. The pad thai was super yummy and a BIG portion. I usually add some veggies and green onion to the dish, which I didn't this time so it was mostly just noodles. My friend ordered it as two starts which for me was definitely too spicy. I usually order 0 starts because even for me that tends to have a little bit of a kick. Overall both dishes were enough for two of us to share with some leftovers. The dining area is pretty big and since we visited during the day around lunch time it wasn't too busy. The food came out QUICK and the service was very friendly and prompt. If anything, I would recommend just a tad more in terms of ambiance and decor as the dining area itself was mostly basic and bland. Overall happy with the visit though and would say it's worth a try!

I don’t normally write reviews about places, but I just have to for this one. First off the owner(s) of this restaurant are so incredibly kind. I was sitting there for quite some time, and I never felt rushed to leave. The food is absolutely amazing also. They have a lunch menu that has affordable prices ($14 for a dish) Often times when it comes to affordable prices just based on past experience, I tend to think that that means they’ll be skimpy. But this restaurant isn’t skimpy at all with their portions.
