Visited in November, 5:30 ish, place was dead (which should have been a red flag). I also realized it's a franchise of some kind, second red flag.
Our server was JC, nice enough guy, fairly disconnected and robotic but not a deal breaker.
We ordered fried pickles for our app. My wife got the crab cakes with fried okra. I got the ribs with collards. We both also got a side of macaroni and cheese.
The pickles and okra were both solid bar food. Of course, neither are rocket science. 4 stars.
Crab cakes were odd at best. Not terrible, edible. Nothing memorable or anything I'd suggest. 2 stars.
Collards were out of a can or had been sitting in their juices for 1/2 the lifetime of uranium. They included the stalks, so it was an adventure to eat. 100% don't order. 1 star.
Ribs, just no. Gnaw off the bone with some type of generic bbq sauce dripping off them. Nothing was good about them. Gross crap you'd find on an all you can eat buffet. 1 star. They give me the chills even recollecting them.
The mac and cheese deserve their own paragraph. In my 47 years, I've never witnessed anyone destroy something so simple. They were literally orange, like nacho cheese. Overcooked noodles. Inedible, disgusting garbage. Kraft box Mac would be considered fine dining in comparison. We each had one bite.
I accepted that the entrees were low quality, with no intention to complain. We ate what we could and recognized we made a bad decision on our dining. The mac and cheese on the other hand, shouldn't be sold. When JC asked, we mentioned they weren't our thing. He then said NO ONE ever eats then and the he would also never eat them. We then asked why he wouldn't have mentioned that when we ordered, he just shrugged his shoulders.
When the bill arrived, there was the Mac, for $6. I prepared to have a melt down, just for the simplest of customer service. I just spent $80 on a grossly below average meal for 2, with no drinks. I believe JC overheard my conversation and came back with a revised bill without the mac.
