Best Chinatown Restaurants in Philly | Eater Philly

"Delicious and reasonably priced Taiwanese snacks, sushi, and bubble tea are what make Bubblefish so special. Try popular items like the Tawainese salted baked chicken, spicy garlic edamame, or sushi burger. Bubblefish boxes provide a lunch option with variety." - George Banks-Weston

Where Philly’s Chinatown Community Leaders Go to Eat

"While PCDC’s Devon Stahl loves bubble tea just as much as the next person, she also appreciates the large range of herbal and traditional hot teas offered at Bubble Fish. “Their fu-er (or pu’er) tea with chrysanthemum is a nice change from classic milk tea and bubbles,” she explains. The “pu-er [is] deep and earthy while the chrysanthemum helps to balance out the pu’er with a lighter, herbal flavor,” Stahl says. “The tea is aromatic, and can be an acquired taste.” Alix Webb finds comfort in the “delicious and generous bowl” of spinach miso soup, garlic edamame, and any onigiri." - Diana Lu

This is my go-to sushi spot near Philly Chinatown. The food is always fresh and flavorful, with reasonable prices. I highly recommend the à la carte oyster and scallop, grilled saba, and Taiwanese salt baked chicken — they’re excellent. The ramen is above average. The uni wasn’t the best I’ve tried, but given the price, it was fair.

Google
Very reasonable prices for Philly AND it was delicious. Both rolls, Tuna Princess and White Tiger were fat, long and worth $16.95 each. Have paid this same amount for similar rolls but certainly not this big. Yellow tail and Tuna Sashimi were fresh and absolutely lovely pieces (2) for $6.50. Bargain! Shrimp Stir Udon served hot and tasty but tails still on ($15.95) ~ value. Can't go wrong with Edamame ($5.95). One-touch table lights were a nice addition along with the BYOB and only $5/person cork fee! WIN!

Google
Easily the best casual sushi spot in the city. We’ve been here at least 30ish times over the last 7 years and have loved every single visit - the sushi is delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. Plus, the service is always excellent. Please stay here forever, Bubblefish!!

We had great service, and enjoyed the food! We got the non-alcoholic peach and strawberry mojitos - very refreshing on a hot, summer day. The ramen was very, very good.

A neighborhood staple! Always recommend this spot to friends and visitors alike. Menu highlights: ⭐️ Taiwanese fried chicken ⭐️ Chirashi bowl (1-3 star depending on chef’s choice) ⭐️ Salmon don (basically deconstructed salmon sushi with HUGE pieces AND ikura) Such a great spot with fantastic staff! Whether it’s for lunch, their great happy hour specials or even quick takeout, I always leave feeling full and happy :) They can accommodate big groups and also are quick with takeout orders. Highly recommend!

Came here about a month ago, food came out very quickly. I got the chirashi don and the wasabi lobster roll, which were both delicious (I was very hungry, so both are partially eaten in this photo). Highly recommended!

Cute atmosphere . Great for group outing or date / solo outing . Not crowded the day i went . Good sushi options and refreshing mocktails just a tap bit sweet . The oyster was the best . It had this fiery kick to it . I will be back to taste other dishes

If you're looking to roll into happy hour with something a little more playful than your typical sashimi set, Bubblefish in Philly delivers a fun, casual sushi experience with a side of creativity - and just a splash of chaos. The vibe is spot-on for post-work bites or a casual night out, with good service and a solid lineup of food and drinks that won't break the bank. We dove into the Sashimi Deluxe, which was the clear standout of the night. The chef’s selection of ten pieces was beautifully cut, fresh, and full of flavor, paired with a special roll that was anything but an afterthought. It’s the kind of dish that reminds you why raw fish has earned such a cult following. We couldn’t resist trying something a little more unconventional with the Soft Shell Crab Burger and Spicy Salmon Burger. Both were creative, flavorful, and visually impressive - but here’s the rub: they’re a total handful. Literally. Messy and difficult to manage, these sushi burgers are more of a “fun once” kind of order. Great flavor profiles (special shout-out to the perfectly fried Soft Shell Crab), but next time we’ll opt for rolls over wrestling. Speaking of rolls, the happy hour selection did not disappoint. The Spicy Tuna, Spicy Crab, and Cajun Salmon Avocado were solid... flavorful, well-balanced, and well-crafted small bites. At happy hour prices at 4-pieces to an order (half the standard), they’re a great way to sample a bit of everything without committing to one big roll. Overall, Bubblefish brings a strong sushi game with a playful edge. While the sushi burgers were a bit of a slippery situation, the rest of the menu proves this spot isn’t just about gimmicks, it’s got the fish to back it up. Come for the rolls, stay for the sashimi, and maybe bring a napkin or two if you dare go burger mode.

Yelp
I've been going to this place for almost six years and it never seems to fail me. From the sushi, sewers, and chicken wings - it's all so good. There's a lot of sushi variety but food options for non sushi lovers such as ramen also! I cracked the code on when to go to this place and it'll be 2:50 pm. Lunch time ends at 3 and happy hour starts at 3 pm. Order lunch menu when you sit down and then order from the happy hour menu after you get your lunch dishes! Both menu hehehe.

Yelp
I wish I could give more stars since we loved the food, but my most recent experience was not great. My partner took me out for a date night and they kept apologizing throughout the meal due to the service. Our server was really nice! But, we were constantly forgotten. Our drinks took a long time to come out, it took a long time for us to order, and they brought out my partners food 15 minutes before they brought out my sushi. They tried to wait for my food to eat, but I didn't want their ramen to go cold so we sadly ate at separate times. All the food was yummy tho! But the insanely slow service and having to flag our server down multiple times was upsetting. the food did not make up for it. It's not often my partner and I can fully treat each other to nice dates, so I feel terrible that they spent so much money on this subpar experience. Maybe I'll get takeout from them, but it was definitely my last time dining in.

Yelp
I ordered takeout recently, and overall, it was a solid experience! The sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicious, with the sashimi offering an especially impressive assortment that really hit the mark. The Marilyn Monroll was the standout roll--packed with flavor and a fun, clever twist on the name that made it memorable. On the downside, the ongiri was a bit difficult to eat, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The pepper tuna avocado roll was also a little too heavy on the sauce for my taste, so I'd recommend asking for it on the side to better control the balance of flavors. Despite those small critiques, the meal was still really enjoyable, and I'd definitely come back for more sushi and sashimi!

Yelp
I dined at Bubble Fish on September 15, 2024, at 5:30 PM. It's located in Chinatown, where parking can be a challenge. You'll need to find street parking or use one of the pay garages nearby. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the staff and quickly seated. Bubble Fish specializes in sushi, but they also offer a variety of other dishes for those who may not be sushi fans, including ramen, udon, and teriyaki boxes with different protein options. I ordered several items to sample, including sushi, oysters, and sea urchin. All their specialty rolls were expertly made and delicious. The oysters were fresh and juicy, although they were a bit on the smaller side. The sea urchin was incredibly fresh and creamy, and the sashimi selection was top-notch. Overall, I was very satisfied with the food, and the staff was knowledgeable, providing great recommendations and answering all my questions. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I love Bubblefish. It's so good. One of my favorite places in Philly to get sushi. The rolls are delicious and they have some pretty good options for specials. I like their maki combo. It's a great deal. The restaurant itself is pretty, well put together, and clean. In the summer, they even open the front windows which is nice.

Yelp
Pretty good place but average. Dark lighting which makes it hard to read menu. Quick service and seating. One of our friends got locked in the bathroom because of the jammed doors. Good for cold day.

Yelp
A friend and I went in for lunch on Saturday and shared the spicy maki combo, Bubblefish roll and the golden scales roll. We got seated quickly and were able to get our food in 15 minutes and It was delicious and affordable! Each of us paid 30$ at the end of the meal and we were stuffed AND had extra to take home. I had no favorites truly loved It all. The place is clean and quiet with booths near the windows and larger tables as you walk further into the restaurant, the waiters were friendly and checked in on us. Definitely stop by! I would've gotten some of the lunch combos if It was a weekday so will probably check that out next time I visit.

Yelp
Visited a nearby museum and walked to Bubblefish for lunch. There were only 4 other tables with patrons. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We were greeted and seated. My friend ordered the spicy seafood Ramen and I ordered the salmon teriyaki bubble fish box. Everything was delicious! This one is placed on my list to visit again!

Yelp
I kept passing by this place whenever I was in the area getting bubble tea. My and the lady finally decided to give it a try the other day. Luckily, we came by right around the time they had the happy Hour/lunch special, so we were able to capitalize on both. What I like about this place is (for happy hour) it's pretty cheap. On the same token though your getting what you're paid for, so don't set your expectations too high. The grilled oysters were ok, sushi was averave, and the skewers were dry. If I'm feeling cheap, I might come back, but other than that, probably not. The service was good and the people are nice, I just feel they could improve on their quality.

Yelp
Wonderful spot for sushi. This time I got an onigiri and it was very tasty. Great service and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to have another sushi night here!

Yelp
I remember when this spot first opened several years ago - while there are a whole slew of boba places in Chinatown, their sushi burgers were novel and there weren't quite so many poke restaurants then. The sushi burger is still as flavorful as I remembered, though the rice was a bit hard this time. The Taiwanese salt baked chicken is still one of favorites - would definitely recommend. Attentive service, lots of people order take out/pick up as well. Ample amount of seating and good for groups.

Yelp
Craving for sushi and found this place. A cute spot to have sushi night date with your couple. So many options for delicious sushi. The vibe is cozy and the service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Pookie and I came here on a Thursday night after the Chinatown Night Market, and Bubblefish was completely full--like all of the Chinatown restaurants this evening. The waiter and hostess were very mindful of us and tried hard to accommodate us as soon as they could, despite being very busy. I applaud the servers for their diligence and professionalism even though there were only two servers for the whole restaurant when all of the tables were full with a substantial waiting line trickling in. We ordered a seafood stir fried udon dish that wasn't particularly rave-worthy. With a flavorful umami sauce, the udon was tasty even though there could have been more seafood. I am docking a star off because my boyfriend and I noticed an odd smell where we sat; we couldn't identify where the smell was coming from, but it was faint and unpleasant. Additionally, the soy sauce container smelled horrendous, according to my bf. A deep clean of the restaurant would be fantastic.

Yelp
Bubblefish is in Phily Chinatown, I was in the area for a work trip and I went there for lunch with a pretty large group and we had their private backroom reserved. Their service was good in getting orders from a group that grew a couple times along the way. They have a variety of Korean and Japanese dishes on their menu. I had their Chirashi, assorted raw fish with sushi rice, which was fresh and tasty. The staff fulfilled the orders in a timely manner and I think everyone was satisfied. I really enjoyed my experience there, and would go again.

Yelp
We had an AMAZING time at Bubblefish! Our group booked the back party room, which is separate from the front of the restaurant. Be mindful that the seating is low and not ADA accessible, you walk into the room and step down to the table-- this also makes it a lot easier for the server to pass food over/between partiers so they're not running around and bumping into you! We ordered tons of dishes: our guests ordered sushi rolls that were packed perfectly. They were tightly rolled but not too firm and allowed each ingredients' texture to shine. the menu lists many different options with some unique varieties and many classic US style rolls. I am very satisfied with the quality and price of the rolls combined with our partying atmosphere. We all shared plenty of appetizers. The appetizers arrived quickly: taiwanese salt baked chicken (the highlight), spicy garlic edemame, and shrimp tempura. The salt baked chicken was the MVP if you love crispy, fried little nuggets. There was notable a smaller amount of chicken to breading but the flavor made up for it. Spicy garlic edamame came in second as they are perfectly cooked with a firm texture and not too mushy or under. The shrimp tempura, though perfectly fried, was a bit of a let down-- We did not realize it only gave us two shrimp hidden by a bunch of tempura vegetables (also fried well and seasoned gently). My table in our group mostly ordered don. Due to the size of our massive group, entrees did not come out at the same time but nobody wasleft waiting too long and we still had appetizers and plenty of water in pitchers. Our don entrees: unagi don, salmon bang don, and chirashi. Each arrived in a wide, deep stoneware bowl which allowed for decorative plating. The fish on the chirashi was perfect: fresh, subtly flavorful, cut to the perfect size. I really enjoyed the rice as it was generously seasoned with vinegar and furikake. There were small dollops of infused oils like ginger, scallion, and small pinches of tobiko and masego. The unagi don also had lovely, strongly seasoned rice and tons of grilled unagi on top which was cooked and seasoned well. The salmon BANG don (i can't believe they ordered this on another person's dollar lol) was wild to see: covered in salmon slices, uni, ikura, and a quail egg yolk... plus GOLD LEAF! This bowl is a punch of luxurious umami. It's so rich that the guest didn't finish it, so the table took the rest. Can't wait to go back to Bubblefish! The owner is a great dude that supports the city, Chinatown, and our community. I want to check out his spot in South Philly: Ginza, next!

Yelp
Bubblefish is my favorite sushi place in Philly! I discovered Bubblefish because I was walking around Chinatown and this place sounded like a cute spot to eat with great reviews. Almost every time that I visit Philly, I stop by Bubblefish and get the exact same thing -- the spicy maki combo. This combo comes with three different rolls, spicy crab, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. Each roll has 8 pieces which is a plus and it's very filling for only $15.95. It comes with an incredibly tasty spicy mayo sauce that isn't like your regular spicy mayo. I think about the spicy mayo sauce often because it's so good. It's much thinner in consistency but it really could be the star of the show here. The fish is pretty fresh in the rolls we had. The spicy crab roll uses imitation crab which I wasn't a big fan of. The rice-to-fish ratio in each roll is fantastic, tons of fish, not too much rice. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant itself and the bathroom are overall very clean. One thing to note, I've been here twice (once in July and once in October in two different years) and each time there's always been a fruit fly, flying around. I don't know if it's just my luck or what. Besides that, the vibes are cute and nicely decorated. This place is a great place for a quick and tasty bite of sushi. Would definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Found this place while walking around the town and wasn't disappointed at all. They have a diverse menu with a lot of Sushi, Japanese and some korean dishes. Tried various kinds of Sushi rolls (Veg and Non-Veg) along with Karage, Spicy Tuna and Jalapeno roll, Vegetable Fried Rice, Tune Poke', Seafood Ramen, Chicken Wing Skewer along with some Soju and Yuzu based drinks. The service was super nice and the owner/s were very kind. They were very attentive to what we asked for. The ambience is very pleasant and relaxing. This is a PERFECT place to come on a lazy summer evening, enjoy some great appies and food and have a few drinks...

Yelp
I recently tried the happy hour here and it was a mixed experience. The prices were pretty cheap, but each sushi roll only came with 4 pieces, which made me wonder if it was really a good deal. The sushi quality was just okay--not bad, but nothing special. Given the small portions and average taste, I don't think I'll be coming back for happy hour sushi. It might be worth checking out their regular menu instead. Their staff were all very nice though! Good amount of seating.
google avatar

Vivian N.

Yelp
Love the oysters and the chirashi was good! Definitely coming for oysters again and maybe double portion :)
google avatar

Miles A.

Yelp
Was lured in with the amazing happy hour special menu, and was glad I did! The rolls were pretty good and great value for money for a quick treat. Cocktail is huge and tasty. There is a fresh ambiance inside and it's relaxing, plus there is a small lounge area and private room also. Everything came out really quick, staff are great. One of the few places that have madai (sea bream) on the menu and the sashimi was perfect. Definitely want to try more of their menu, it's a nice spot. Thanks
google avatar

Limi L.

Yelp
I was impressed with the sushi and sashimi quality especially because I didn't have high expectations. I got their sushi and sashimi platter and I really enjoyed it, especially I have to say the quality was amazing and it's comparable to some of the high-end sushi restaurants and omakase I've had. My least favorite was the chef's choice sushi which I didn't know what it was but didn't care for. The service was good. I will come back again to try the other specialty sushi and sashimi.
google avatar

Clare D.

Yelp
For just under $20, you get a very good Chirashi bowl with big cuts of fish (O-Toro, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, scallops topped with roe, and giant clam, but this can vary) atop rice that I normally wouldn't think of as sushi rice, but it's still good. It's a little drier than sushi rice but it's seasoned nicely with fish flakes, sesame seeds, and scallions. Slivered beets and greens adorn the perimeter of the dish and I think it's basically for presentation. The usual ginger and wasabi accompany the dish. The fish tasted fresh and was prepared well. Most people want a Chirashi bowl to look exactly like the picture in the menu, but I was happy my server was able to get me a good customization, such as the clams. The restaurant looks nice and there are booths in the back where you can basically hide. About the only complaint I'd have is I was ready to order a happy hour cocktail from the menu they provided, but they said it was past happy hour... so why was I given the happy hour menu? Aside from this, my order came within half an hour and I was happily munching away. Looks like I no longer have to go to my ex's neighborhood for reasonably priced Chirashi!
google avatar

Rob S.

Yelp
I love the amount of sushi options they have here. The service was very well and staff were Amazing. I would recommend the Sushi Heaven if you ever dine here
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Bubblefish lunch special sushi (M-F from 11 am to 3 pm I believe) is still a great deal. 3 rolls for 14.95 and 2 rolls for 10.95. I was pretty hungry so I order the 3 rolls for 14.95. The restaurant decor was nice and the server were pretty attentive, consistently refilling our water. The only thing is that the ramen broth is pretty salty according to my friends who order them (one order shoyu and the other order tonkatsu). I would definite come back for lunch with my friends.
google avatar

Q L.

Yelp
Came here for the happy hour sushi. 4 rolls and some sashimi. Decent price. Good service...not too busy
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Probably my go-to spot for affordable, reliable sushi in Philly/Chinatown. Been here at least 2-3x pre pandemic, and finally returned last Friday night during my latest trip to Philly (from NYC). Around 7:30pm, it was quite busy though we didn't have to wait for a table - just took a while for the food to come out but we didn't mind all that much. Between 2 people, we shared the Sushi & Sashimi Platter for Two ($41.95), Ninja Oyster Roll ($14.95), Salmon Avocado Onigiri ($4) and Eel Avocado Onigiri ($4.50). The platter was great, but we didn't love the chef special roll that it came with - it was fried and had cream cheese in it which was meeeh. Tasty, but would've preferred something ...less western. All in all still a good meal that satisfied our sushi cravings!
google avatar

Taejun L.

Yelp
California roll is mostly cucumber with the smallest smear of avocado and crab stick. The shrimp tempura is a flour mess. Salmon teriyaki is over cooked and the smallest slice ever. The best part was the tempura broccoli. For an $18 bento box, this is a rip off. I wouldn't come back ever, for anything.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
My second time here! I love the tempura signature rolls. The salmon roll was beautifully presented and delicious. The Rock and Roll has a great mango kick. My disappointment over them no longer offering bubble tea was QUICKLY fixed by almy amazing tropical Minion cocktail! The BBQ Chicken Skewer needed some type of sauce. Other than that, it was a yummy Sunday lunch!
google avatar

Esy C.

Yelp
Food 6/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Service 9/10 Tips You can ask the waiter to tone down the music if you would like! When I went there were only two tables full and they were blasting clubbing music and I was next to the speaker. Even my waiter was complaining how loud it was and was covering his ears!! Food was o.k. Very salty, ordered a variety but I wasn't exactly full at the end.
google avatar

Yia-Ming L.

Yelp
Bubblefish is one of my go to spots for sushi in Chinatown/Center City area! The quality of the sashimi is always fresh. They have it all. If you are looking for traditional sushi rolls, they have that. If you are looking for the latest sushi trend, they also have that (i.e. sushi burger (which was messy to eat but so good)). During my most recent time, I got their seafood poke bowl. It was so good. They gave a good amount of seafood (salmon, tuna, and shrimp) topped with avocado and tamago. The sushi rice was cooked just right. I would definitely recommend getting their takoyaki and popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken fried to perfection and the seasoning adds a perfect kick to it. The interior is super cute. Bathroom is clean. There's street parking.
google avatar

Jody S.

Yelp
I wanted to give this place 5 stars so bad but the fact that they don't serve bubble tea or specialty beverages (which is a part of their namesake) gets to me! The reason I've been trying to get to this restaurant, is because they offered the best of both worlds (bubble tea and sushi). But upon arrival I found that they haven't served beverages for some time now (a couple months). But I will continue this review regarding our restaurant and sushi experience. The restaurant was easy to find and due to the beautiful spring day the indoor/outdoor doors were open providing a cool breeze. The music was great and provided a good vibe. The staff was helpful and the food was delicious!!! I ordered the bubblefish roll and the shrimp tempura and I enjoyed every bite. So much that I had extra to go. I hope they bring the beverages back since they only serve soft drinks, water, and limited alcohol beverages. Then this would be a 5 star experience.

Yelp
Pro: Admittedly, there are times where I am a fan of tradition and other times where I'm a fan of innovation. At Bubblefish, I was lucky enough to experience a taste of tradition in a very innovative form. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you...the sushi burger! This offering was a nice helping of pepper tuna, sliced tuna, lettuce, avocado, fried onions, and spice crab. It was bedded on two "patties" of sushi rice and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Umm...wow! This dish is a game changer! I don't want to neglect the hand rolls I enjoyed as well; they were just fine! However, that tuna burger was the star of the show for me. Con: I didn't know how to approach this sushi burger. Should I cut it? Pick it up? Ultimately, I manhandled it and went to town on that thing! Bottom Line: For the purists, try the rest of the menu. For the innovative, give that burger a try!
google avatar

Henry N.

Yelp
For me I'm more of a fish over rice kind of person. Bubblefish is good for their price range and for the price and how their fish are
google avatar

Yelp
I had the salmon sushi and omg drooling I WANT IT AGAIN and the servers are super sweet!
google avatar

Anh N.

Yelp
The best sushi in Chinatown! The price might be a little high compare to others but I think the quality speaks for itself. Must try their appetizers, sashimi, & sushi rolls! My favorite sashimi is the sweet shrimp and their assorted oysters. The sweet shrimp has a mild & sweetness flavor with less salinity compared to regular shrimp. The oysters is paired with three unique different soy sauce that gives it more of an Asian twist. The place is nice and spacious with a lot of seatings. Friendly staff & warm services, highly recommend!
google avatar

Jenny G.

Yelp
Super yummy sushi - all the fish was fresh! Tuna Roll: Great fish to rice ratio. Spicy Tuna: The tempura flakes gave the roll a slight crunch. Angry Dragon Roll: Really good! There were a lot of different textures that blended well in the mouth. The roll was subtlety sweet from the mango, and the shrimp tempura gave it a good crunch. T.G.I.Fresh Roll: Sweet and smokey flavor profile. The tempura flakes gave the roll a nice crunch, and the rice paper brought a crunchier texture to the roll compared to if it was just wrapped in seaweed. Salmon Avocado Cream Cheese: Creamy - the cream cheese flavor overpowered the other components. The fatty salmon melted in the mouth.
google avatar

Soichiro I.

Yelp
Came to eat for Happy hour and their oyster is totally worth it! $1.5 for oysters with fish egg on top is a great deal! Also their new uni hotate (sea urchin and scallop) was rich and super flavorful! I also love their new cocktail Lychee sake tini! Perfect for sake lovers

Sam O.

Yelp
Food: 8.8/10 Service: 7.8/10 Ambiance: 6.9/10 Bang for Buck: 8.9/10 Sushi is the best I've ever had. The ramen was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. They have a lot of options for sushi, and I've loved most that I've tried in my previous visits. Stick to sushi if you want to maximize on your visit!
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
Service was great. Rock and Roll was spectacularly yummy. The beef teriyaki in the bento box was pretty much blah. Not sure how they screwed that up. Tasted like overcooked strips of plain meat. Even when soaked in the watery teriyaki sauce, it was blah. Never had anyone mess this up. But the real pisser here is that both times we went this past year, they did not have bubble tea. Literally the COVER of the menu says bubble tea and sushi. They didn't even have ANY cold tea. Basically no options other than alcohol and water. He pointed me outside if I wanted bubble tea. So I walked about 3 doors down and had to spend $7 to get a medium one, but I did and drank it with my bento box. If that sushi wasn't good, this would be one or two stars max.
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
We were walking by late at night through Chinatown and wanted to pop in somewhere for a late meal. Bubble fish was open. Some of the best sushi I've ever had in Philadelphia definitely coming back. The service was phenomenal. Our waiter was adorable.

Yelp
Still recommend coming here, but just take a couple things with a grain of salt. Beautiful atmosphere, clean bathrooms, spacious seating. ATM at the door if you need it. Nestled as the edge of Chinatown. Food was fantastic. I tried the Spicy Garlic Edamame, Miso Soup, Angry Dragon roll, and some tea. Good portions for the price and flavorful. They have a VERY expensive drink list with all sorts of teas but they were all crossed out throughout the menu- huge letdown as the milk teas were a big reason I came here. They had about 5 hot teas available, pretty standard flavor, tame. Service was.. mixed. Food was quick and everything correct, but it felt like she didn't want to be there. I can easily chalk that up to being a bad day or maybe just her personal temperament because again, everything else was great.

Yelp
Nice interior and great service. Sushi was good. I'm not expert on sushi so as long as the rice is right and the fish doesn't make me sick, it's good. Portions were appropriate and plenty. Poke bowl was great! Enjoyed my food and would come again. Bubblefish is basically my go to sushi spot in Chinatown.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of sushi or raw fish (my partner is!), but holy moly, wow, Bubblefish was amazing! My partner and I stopped by here for dinner one Wednesday evening and were quickly seated. We ordered the sushi and sashimi platter for one (five pieces of nigiri, eight pieces of sashimi, and a spicy tuna roll) and a spicy maki combo (a spicy crab, a spicy tuna, and a spicy salmon roll) and were highly impressed with everything. First, the presentation was absolutely stunning. Second, the portions were huge and the ingredients were of very high quality, with thick, buttery cuts of sashimi that just melt in your mouth. Well worth the cost in my opinion! Both the sushi and sashimi also tasted very fresh and delicious, and there was an extensive selection of sushi and sashimi on the menu to choose from. Bubblefish is by far my favorite sushi place in both Philly and New York--an absolute must-have! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Service was excellent. I decided to try some cooked food as I have had a lot of sushi lately. Hamachi Kama- reasonably priced and excellent. Cooked to perfection and nice dipping sauce. Cooked mackerel also tasty although I wish it would have come with its own sauce (I used the hamachi kama sauce left over which went well with it). Looking forward to trying the grilled oysters and clams but decided to wait until a happy hour when they are considerably reduced in price. Also looking forward to trying some other items on the menu.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The service was even better, I swear it's the best service of my life. The people were so kinda and over the top amazing. The ambiance was cute. I got Onigiri and Spicy Miso Ramen, best of both I think I've had... ever!!! Also, they have an amazing creme brulee. Definitely recommend and definitely going back!!!!!

Yelp
great sushi and fish quality but definitely on the pricey side. Angry Dragon Roll: Really good! A lot of different flavors in your mouth with the sweetness of the mango and the shrimp tempura with the crunch. My favorite roll T.G.I.Fresh Roll: The tempura flakes gave a nice crunch and the rice paper made it crunchier Tuna Roll: nice fish to tuna ratio Salmon Avocado Cream Cheese: cream cheese was too overpowering but the salmon was really fresh and melted in your mouth

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner after a show at the City Winery. Even though my spicy ramen lacked flavor I'm still giving them 4 stars. It seems like most people order their sushi and the only reason why I didn't was because we had eaten sushi the day before. All of that to say - everything else was very good. It was our first time seeing spicy garlic edamame on a menu- we both loved it. The octopus meatballs were a first for us too, slightly crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside- they were delicious! The miso soup was good too. We opted for cold sake to round off the meal. I'd like to go back again and explore the sushi - there are some pretty inventive sounding rolls on the menu. The service was friendly and fast. I recommend checking them out.

Yelp
Can I just say the sushi was amazing and super affordable for Philly. I came here with some friends on a Friday around 5:30 and the place was almost empty but by the time we left it was packed so keep that in mind. We ordered the edamame as an appetizer and the sushi platter for 3. We were worried we would still be hungry after this meal but honestly we were stuffed. Presentation is A+ and the waitress explained each piece of fish when she brought it over. All of them tasted fresh and delicious. Will definitely be returning here.

Yelp
I dined at Bubblefish on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 5:30 pm. At this time on New Year's Eve, it was surprisingly slow, but it got a lot busier as the night progressed. The quality of the sushi was exceptional. The dozen raw oysters were as fresh as they come by, literally plucked from Poseidon's garden. I really enjoyed one of the sushi that was torched. I thought the smoky flavor really elevated the sushi. The uni sashimi were also fresh and creamy! Although their menu was slightly limited as some options were unavailable, all of the stuff that I ordered were really great in terms of taste and presentation. Bubble fish is a must visit every time in Philadelphia and I highly recommend it!
