Buboy - Review - NDG - Montreal - The Infatuation

"This Pinoy carinderia—a casual, homestyle spot—in NDG is super snug, with cheery décor, imported Filipino snacks, and counter seating in front of a big side window. It’s hard for us to stray far from the breakfast silog rice bowl with homemade longanisa sausage and a fried egg, but the bulalo, a bone-brothy, collagen-rich beef soup with fried garlic and noodles, calls out to us sometimes, too. If you’re not in a soupy mood, the Cebuchon lechon sandwich on a pandesal roll with their own banana ketchup and spicy pikliz is on special every Wednesday, and it’s just the best. Keep an eye out for special pop-ups, especially anything that mentions “Boodle Fight,” when the banana leaves get laid out for a kamayan hands-only feast shared at a communal table. photo credit: Two Food Photographers photo credit: Two Food Photographers photo credit: Two Food Photographers" - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Room temperature was freezing...some rice was hard (either old rice or cold rice) I've ordered 3 plates unfortunately it wasn't hot but more likely between cold and warm ....felt like if I add 2 more minutes in the microwave it would have been hot enough. The sauce was gelatinous, probably not hot enough. Don't get me wrong, I love philipino food, but this time .....I was disappointed.... never have I ever had a plate semi hot and hard rice ...

I recently had the chance to try the boodle-feast (Kamayan) dining experience. It was an engaging and interactive meal, where I got to enjoy the food with my hands (plastic gloves were provided). The price tag was $60 per person, but the portion sizes were generous, making it a worthwhile and enjoyable experience. I loved the garlic rice and the deliciously charred meat.

I’d go there just for their bone broth! It’s crazy good and he puts a lot of care into making it great! Great vibe! The food is really unique there, never tasted anything quite like what i had. Not vegetarian friendly

We were thrilled to try their boodle fight (kamayan) style, waiting months for a weekend slot to fit our group of 9. Upon arrival, the small dine-in area made sense of the constant bookings. However, the service fell short – we weren't informed about the format or the $55 per person charge. The food was disappointing: The platters were served with mostly garlic rice. The lumpia and bangus(milkfish) that come with it were too salty. We also ordered OG bulalo and chicken inasal to try their a la carte but with the OG Bulalo being bland and oily, we barely touched it. the Chicken Inasal having tiny portions with exta amount or rice with it was ridiculously disappointing. The crab and cheese were the sole highlights. Unfortunately, the dishes lacked the authentic Filipino flavors we were craving. It’s far from “authentic” Filipino dishes. Given the experience, I wouldn't recommend. We spent more or less 600$ without special drinks but water. We walked out of the restaurant feeling disappointed and feeling like we'd gotten screwed. It’s not worth it, go somewhere else.

Delicious Filippino cuisine and with the most amazing and friendly staff, highly recommend this location. Here you get a true taste of authenticity.

Sooo damn tasty and comforting. Exactly what you need during -20 weather. We had the crab rangoons, oxtail kare kare and the Loco Gang. We were left very satisfied and will definitely be back!

Mouth-watering food. Couldn’t decide what to eat but what we did get did NOT disappoint.. And what I saw from the other tables, anything I would have gotten would have been exceptional. I can’t to try them all.

It was our first time having Filipino food and what an amazing experience! We had the #7 & #8 and while both delicious, #7 was a flavour I’ve never had before and absolutely loved it. The egg yolk mixed with the sauce was 10/10! And the service was even better than the food, which is saying a lot! The cashier helped us by explaining everything on the menu and was so friendly! Will definitely be back again :)
