17 Essential Restaurants in Palm Beach County

"This sandwich shop stands out from the ordinary with offerings from Clay Conley, a four-time James Beard semifinalist. Operating from the back of Conley’s Buccan kitchen, the sandwiches, made with house-baked baguettes, justify their slightly above-average prices. The Italian sandwich, best enjoyed cold, combines mortadella, salami, ham, provolone, and pickled peppers, giving it a nice kick. The corned beef Reuben is another highlight, featuring remoulade, Swiss, Gruyère, and sauerkraut on rye bread. While Buccan now ships its famous chocolate chip cookies nationwide, diners can add one to their takeout orders. A new location in West Palm has also opened at Conley’s neighborhood hot spot, Grato." - J. Miller

What a gem. You can’t go wrong with any of the sandwiches here but what got us to start coming here (and has kept us coming back) is the Beef Carpaccio sandwich and the Cuban sandwich. I’m not a huge carpaccio guy but I must say this sandwich is phenomenal, and the Cuban is the best I’ve ever had. Be sure to try their delicious homemade chips to go along with it. Prices are very reasonable for Palm Beach. The Buccan Sandwich Shop operates out of a window on the side of the larger Buccan Restaurant and is only open during the day. It does not have seating other than a bench outside and a park across the street with a few tables but you can always walk somewhere in the area or to the beach to enjoy! Order online to avoid having to wait outside. *Important to Note* for anyone allergic to Yellowfin Tuna like me, the Tuna Salad sandwich IS made with Yellowfin Tuna. Good work Buccan thanks for the amazing sandwiches and chips!

Google
The beef carpaccio is dynamite!!! Very busy place. Ran out of chips so they gave me (2) cookies. Definitely will be back to try something else when in the WPB area

Google
Heard good things about the sandwiches/ subs from this place, particularly about the beef carpaccio. I was skeptical about eating raw meat, but I'm always willing to try new things. My wife and I were both curious about Buccan's sandwich shop and decided to buy 3 sandwiches we wanted to taste. The Smoked Yellowfin Tuna Salad, Steak Bomb, and of course the Beef Carpaccio. For my taste buds, I feel that the Carpaccio sandwich was ok. You can really taste the balsamic onions, but overall, I felt as though it was overhyped. The steak bomb was a delicious blend of flavors that I would definitely try again. However, my favorite was the Smoked Yellowfin Tuna Salad. It packed a huge amount of bold flavor in every bite. I would have to order that one again the next time I go. I highly recommend you order ahead of time. I wouldn't say they get overwhelmed with orders, but there is a consistent amount of traffic that comes through to pick up pre-ordered food and others that come to wait. Only one bench is available to sit and wait. There are two tables across the street in a tiny park like area where you can eat your meal. The service itself was what you get for a order/pick up window. Look forward to ordering more sandwiches in the future and I'm also planning to eat inside the restaurant itself.

Google
Worth the hype! Get the beef carpaccio sandwich. The turkey sandwich was good too. I really enjoyed the ginger lemonade too. Strong ginger taste. I can’t wait to go back and try the steak sandwich.

Google
They staff was so nice and friendly- they found extra chips for us after being sold out which was really nice! We tried the lobster roll and it was unbelievably good, will definitely be back this week for another one, please keep this on the menu!

Google
Ordered the Beef Carpaccio and the Buffalo Chix subs, both were excellent!!! I did click delivery on the website but had to pick the sandwiches up, no big deal!!! They were ready quickly!!! Believe the hype!!! UPDATE Just recently had the Seak Bomb sandwich!!!! Definitely DA BOMB!!!

Google
There are two locations so make sure you are ordering from the right one. With that aside - get the carpaccio sandwich!! Delicious with caramelized onions, crispy onions and balsamic glaze! Delicious!!! We also got the turkey club which was great!

Google
Have loved and enjoyed Buccan Sandwiches from their start - however quality has gone down since their rise in fame. Previously packed sandwiches are much much slimmer and I order frequently from both locations - I tried to give them benefit of the doubt they’re running out of ingredients and trying to stretch further the first few times but after several orders, think they have just altered the rations entirely. Furthermore, prices only ever go up! FYI to all you tourists expecting the OG photo vs the now. (Both photos are my own)

Yelp
I've heard from a few friends that they do take about 20 mins to get your order ready, so we decided to call in to place our order. There was about a 7-9 min hold on the phone where they answer immediately but place you on hold. Placing our order on the phone was very quick and easy. We had asked if the double cheeseburger or the steak bomb is better and the server told us that the steak bomb is his favorite, but since the burger is only available today, it would be good to try it. Since today is Wednesday, we were able to get their Wednesday special, the double cheese burger with fries. I also wanted the buffalo chicken sandwich but without the buffalo sauce, however, the server told us that the chicken is already mixed with the buffalo sauce. But he gave us the option to make a custom sandwich, so we picked plain chicken and added pesto sauce, mozzarella, romaine lettuce, and crispy onions and a side of their aioli . The custom sandwich came out to $15.75, which is only 75 cents more than their regular buffalo chicken sandwich. Definitely seems worth it to me! The pesto was extremely fresh and made the sandwich overall much better! This is more of a take out place, but they do a formal restaurant attached as well. It is kind of difficult to find parking and the sandwich shop is only open during lunch hours so from around 11-3:30. It is a great stop if you would like to grab lunch and eat it at the beach nearby. Since they are only open for a few hours during the day, it seems like they are always busy. I can definitely see why because their sandwiches are huge and taste great! I can't wait to come back try their other sandwiches!

Yelp
Fantastic sandwich spot super close to the beach! We got these and walked over to a bench near the beach and had a fabulous experience. There's some tables in a very beautiful green spot right across the street. Very friendly service and great crowd. It was pretty busy when we went and it was about a 10 min wait for the food. It's just a little stall on the side of the main restaurant, no seating or anything just grab and go. Definitely recommend if you're in the area looking for a quick bite or going to the beach!

Yelp
This was probably one of the best sandwich shops I have ever tried in Florida. Got the steak bomb and it was better than any Philly cheese steak I've ever had (even better than Philly.) the bread is perfectly toasted & it's packed w beef and onions and makes you craving for more. My friend got the turkey club and she absolutely loved how moist it was and how huge the sandwich is itself. We ate half and saved the other half for later. We also got the chips which were perfect fried. The ginger lemonade was bomb af, very gingery which I like. The chocolate chip cookie is definitely worth it and I recommend you get some sandwiches, chips, cookie, juice and sit by the beach. Best meal in west Palm :)

Yelp
Really epic sandwiches. Order ahead on the app for no wait. Choc chip cookies are a must too. Homemade chips are good and crispy. Sit in the park if you can get seats to eat nearby.

Yelp
This was really good! Like great! Just had to try one sandwich and instantly love it. I had the Italian and it was juicy, meaty, tender, sweet, vinagry and slightly spicy all at the sabe time. Perfection. The portion is just right and you get a good amount of meat. Good price for the quality. And service, although I just walked up to pick up, was exceptional. The ventanita is super convenient but it can get busy. Order ahead for pick up.

Yelp
Amazing Beef Carpaccio sandwich! Cool spot and a short walk to the beach to sit and watch the waves while I ate.
google avatar

Kaylynn S.

Yelp
Omg, I can't not even explain how amazing this sandwich was. It needs to get a Michelin star nomination. The textures and flavors and freshness all together was just outstanding. I ordered for pickup, waited like 10 minutes ( I was early- I tried to time it right because I drove an hour for this, but the sandwich was done at the pickup time) there was a long line and I can see why!!!! I will definitely be back again. I've already convinced a few friends to go, and we all think the drive was worth it!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Very good sub. Place was busy but ordered before hand and picked the sandwiches up right at lunch. Others ordered the tuna and turkey and both of those were delicious as well.

Yelp
This is a small, take-away sandwich and salad joint next to the more popular main restaurant, Buccan. The sandwiches we ordered were made fresh with tasty ingredients. One of us had a steak sandwich (outrageously good) and I had the caprese. The Caesar salad was average at best, and we wouldn't recommend ordering it. Orders are taken at a small window, which is shut after each customer places their order. There's a small bench where you can sit and wait for the made to order meals. This is a true takeaway spot. Grab your bag of food and head to a handful of tables in the nearby shaded park down the street. 5 stars for sandwiches. Avoid the Caesar salad.

Yelp
Found this spot online. Turns out it had a line full of locals. Poppin' for what is a window service during the day. Quick service. All the options sound great. Had the Italian (a lil spicy & the sauce is too much for my taste. Also had the beef carpaccio which is out of this world. Big serving for the price. Worth the wait. Highly Recommend!

Mallory M.

Yelp
Ordered online and was ready exactly when it said it was going to be. Seamless pickup process. Steak bomb was delicious. The homemade bread was a huge highlight and made all the difference for the sandwich. Will be back to keep trying more of the menu!

Yelp
Had to try the beef carpaccio sandwich and let me just say it did not disappoint! Probably one of the best sandwiches I've had. Definitely pricey but in my opinion, worth it. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I fortunately stumbled across this place while exploring the streets of Palm Beach. The awning and crowd outside caught my eye so I looked it up and placed an order! The sandwich window is on a side street, with a bench out front, cute set up. I ordered the steak bomb and the thin, fresh, crispy bread was to die for! The somewhat spicy kick the sandwich was delicious. I ordered as is and it was so flavorful. Towards the end, there were some large chewy parts of steak but didn't find that too unusual. I wish I lived closer as it was delicious! I am looking forward to trying to restaurant as well someday!

Zachary L.

Yelp
Incredible sandwiches. The carpaccio, steak bomb, and caprese are all very good. Great spot to grab a quick lunch to go
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
The most amazing sandwiches you can get anywhere in Florida. We didn't wait too long, they were super quick and nice. GET THE BEEF CARPACCIO!!!!!
google avatar

Jmy M.

Yelp
Excellent. The sangawhiches (intentionally spelt that way) are awesome. The Cuban. The bread. Etc
google avatar

Elliott F.

Yelp
One thing and one thing only: hot damn! Easily the best USA deli sandwich shop, the beef carpaccio sandwich was STUNNING! House made chips, warm and meaty cookie. Makes a grown man cry.
google avatar

Tae S.

Yelp
WTH is place had a queue in the hot sun. The sandwiches were worth the wait. We had the steak sandwich which had a touch of spice and so much flavor. We also had the Cuban and the pork had a bit of sweetness and the mustard was amazing. If in the area I would come back again. The homemade potato chips were just okay.
google avatar

Kyme R.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and it's always amazing. The only reason I haven't written a review yet is because I don't ever want to put the sandwich down. Top favorites - Beef Carpaccio (perfection), Turkey Club (classic with a twist that improves it) and Meatball (pesto sets it apart).
google avatar

Caitlyn L.

Yelp
This is possibly my favorite food spot in all of palm beach county. It's always a hit when people come to visit. They think "what could be so special about a sandwich shop?" But then they rave about it for weeks. Highly recommend the jerk snapper and the prosciutto sandwich.

Alexander S.

Yelp
I still get food from here once or twice a week despite routinely getting sandwiches like this. Fool me once, twice, etc., it's on me at this point. They say they weigh them out. That's fair, but many times the weight is carried by the bread. So it's technically true but less than actually doing something to keep the sandwiches consistent. Some days it's really good. 5 star. Way too many times it's what you'll see in these pictures. 1 star. The variance drives me crazy. This is legitimately half the amount of chicken they'll put in on the off day you get a good one. No sandwich should look like that from any angle, come on guys! I'm literally eating bread with Buffalo sauce and onions at this point.
google avatar

Branden M.

Yelp
On a mission to try every sandwich. So far my favorite is the Beef Carpaccio. I recommend using the app to call it in before hand and we always enjoy sitting by the water to enjoy this. It has become a Saturday tradition for us!
google avatar

Marianna P.

Yelp
Always love coming here! The wait can be quite long, we waited 25 minutes for two sandwiches but you can order ahead so you don't have to wait. Also, there is no door to go inside. This spot has a window that you order from so be prepared to wait in the car or on the bench. I love the vibe of this spot. It's such a cool part of Palm Beach. My go-tos are the turkey club and prosuitto sandwiches.

Joseph L.

Yelp
Carpaccio sandwich is unique and the call ahead option saves a lot of wait time. Cheese steak was just ok.

Yelp
Would like to start by saying I have some experience at the Buccan Sandwich shop, I work nearby, experts on timing, burger Wednesday's you won't want to miss, their order of fries are only five dollars and they come with two packages of them, I thought they made a mistake the first two times, nope, the aïoli on top of the burger is spectacular. In addition to ketchup which comes on side. I never used to like tomato or lettuce on my burger, now I do along with the onion. They give you two patties. The meatball sub is fantastic the Cuban sandwiches is great, the steak bomb is to die for.. I'm more of a hot sandwich guy. I haven't tried any of the other sandwiches, the girl works at the front is just the nicest person.. they're just very well organized, like that entire restaurant group is. thank you Buccan Sandwich shop without you, I don't know without you.. I don't know. And the clientele who frequent that spot are A+ as well. It's all ranges, bmw's and merc's. no offense, there's just a system in place people respect, which is what great people do..and good vibes. I'm a big dude... and I eat both packages of fries first generally.. and sometimes I can't finish the burger.. blows my mind.

Yelp
Soooooo good!!! Still dreaming about my beef carpaccio sandwich, It's worth the wait.

Kathie H.

Yelp
We live in Hollywood but wanted to take a day trip up to Palm Beach to check out the little town & beaches. We ordered a few sandwhiches. My husband loved the Italian & steak bomb I believe it's called the B on the BLT was really chewy but the beef carpaccio was delish. Chips fresh & salty so good. Our overall favorite was the Arnold palmers & chocolate chip cookies. It's really fun to eat in tne sweet little park across the street in the shade as well. Will we dive an hour just for a sandwich no but to make a day of it also visiting the Norton Museaum was special.
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
I drove from Deerfield to try this place out. I was a little nervous because it's an order at window and pick up kind of deal so I was worried about parking but there's a bunch of spots located right behind the place. The girls at the window were nice and patient with me looking at the menu and asking them questions. I got the turkey BTL and my partner for the meatball and it was amazing!!! I don't even like meatball subs but I was taking bites of his amazed with how good it was. They get really busy really fast so I guess if you're close by just order it online. Even though the food was amazing the subs are a bit small compared to any other place. But still really good.
google avatar

Anaïka P.

Yelp
These sandwiches were so good I don't think I have much to say about it. The service was great the guy serving us was helping and nice. It's more of a grab and go place and very easy to pick up for lunch. It is a little pricey but I would definitely recommend 100%

Andy R.

Yelp
Wow this place fucks so hard I feel they took my virginity again . Place is definitely worth the drive .
google avatar

Amanda T.

Yelp
The best sandwiches to grab after a day at the beach. We got the steak bomb - a chop cheese style sandwich. This one was so good and definitely my favorite. Then we did a build your own turkey sandwich. We love the adding the mustard shallot vinaigrette. The turkey was fresh and tangy, a nice contrast to the hot steak sandwich. 10/10 sandwich spot
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! We finished riding the lake trail and was looking for a lunch spot. Yelp led us to Buccan sandwich shop. It's just a walk up window which surprised us at first. But there's a great little park right across the street to have your sandwich. I had the Italian which was fabulous. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
We just got a cookie to go but had to post 5 stars as it's one of the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Crunchy outside chewy everywhere else and thick and huge. Great quality. And the service was amazing. We couldn't find their location but a server at their dinner restaurant showed us the direction. It was closed by the time we got there but she made sure we got 2 cookies. I wish I had gotten her name. She was fantastic and so were the other two that greeted us. We will be back. Thank you for a great experience and delicious treat.
google avatar

Yelp
The sandwiches from here make me emotional but in the a good way. The steak bomb and beef carpaccio! Whew. They are super fast with service as well which you can appreciate during lunch hour.
google avatar

Ashley V.

Yelp
Yummmmmyyy!!! A friend delivered to me so I can only comment on the food. The meatball sub...fire. Can't wait to try all of the others!!'
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Sandwiches are great. Tried the turkey blt & steak. Both fabulous, bread wonderful. Would go back for sure!
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
Sandwiches are excellent, filling and creative. Service was fine. It's a take out spot but a nice park is across the street.
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
Everything here is amazing. Everything is made to order so order in advance. Get the Italian "hot" (baked). So good. One of the best Cubans I've had. Chips are home made. So good.
google avatar

Gabriel H.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I am a sandwich afficianato and I must say the carpaccio sandwich is hands down incredible, bodacious, and amazing. I wish I lived closer so I can have it all the time!! Try not hit peak lunch hour otherwise you will be waiting in a long line.
google avatar

Djemina B.

Yelp
I'm such a sub-fanatic and this place is my favorite all-time sun shop! I've tried the turkey avocado before and the tuna, but my life changed when I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. This sandwich is the perfect balance of chicken wing goodness and even if your not a fan of blue cheese, don't sleep on getting the sauce on the side. Just wow on that house-made sauce! The cookies are phenomenal and the ginger lemonade is a really good pair with the flavors your going to get.
google avatar

Randy Y.

Yelp
Pretty good subs, only have had the Cuban, it was great. A bit on the salty side but overall somewhere I'll likely return. This was a group order so I don't have feedback on the customer service or the ambiance.

Mateo J.

Yelp
The best sandwich I've had in a while from the absolute rudest staff I've experienced in South Florida. Be warned. I guess that is West Palm. Disappointing.

Beth K.

Yelp
the Buccan sandwich shop is without question one of the best sandwich establishments in Palm Beach county. I have NEVER been disappointed. Truth be told, I crave the beef carpaccio sandwich on a regular basis the chips Everything they make nevermisses
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Listen... there is no other sand which place to eat at in South Florida. This is it. Hands down, the best Buffalo chicken sandwich I've had in my life. I wish I were exaggerating. Go here. You won't regret it.

Yelp
My decision to try this sandwich shop was based on the enthusiastic recommendation of an uber-fan now living in LA. Whom I've never met. But John was right; this is a must try spot whenever you find your way on to toney Palm Beach. The Sandwich Shop is tied to the upscale Buccan, a small plate restaurant chefed by James Beard award nominee Clay Conley. My beef carpaccio sandwich ($15.50) featured wafer thin raw tenderloin, nutty arugula, mayo and lemon vinaigrette, Parmesan cheese and crispy onions with a splash of balsamic. A hurricane of flavors and texture- hugged by a freshly baked baguette. My wife never hesitated to order the corned beef Reuben ($16). Toasted rye bread held tender corned beef, Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, Gruyere cheese and drizzled with Remoulade dressing. Outstanding. A side of homemade salted potato chips ($2) was a must have accompaniment. A number of patrons waited for their orders at the walk up Dutch door cashier. Once we had our bag of sandwiches we headed a couple blocks over to Worth Ave and a park bench overlooking the ocean. Yeah. There are several more reasons to return; soup of the day (shrimp bisque this day), falafel pita (sold out this day), a Buffalo chicken sandwich, a Cubano and others. Thanks, John, for the recommendation. THIS is a Sandwich Shop.

Anahi A.

Yelp
I came here twice on my trip to west palm beach. I was absolutely blown away by this sandwich shop. we ordered the caprese which was phenomenal & the turkey club was mouthwatering. you have to try this spot!!
google avatar

Peter F.

Yelp
Tapas are excellent! But expensive. Makes a great place to stop for lunch. With a variety of excellent prepared foods

Lily W.

Yelp
The best sandwiches in Palm beach! Get the buccan tea if you are in the mood of a cocktail with your sandwich- so refreshing!!
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Ahhhmazing each & every time! Although the shop is small it's always neat/clean & packs the very best flavors. The service is quick yet friendly & this little sandwich shop will probably leave your tastebuds wanting more. I've tried several sandwiches here & so far I think my absolute favs are the steak bomb & their tuna. I've enjoyed the others I've photographed but still have plenty more from their menu to try.
