We've been up to Orcas Island a couple times over the past few years, but only learned about Buck Bay the last time we were up here. The island is shaped like a horseshoe with most folks, staying right in the middle of that horseshoe. The shellfish farm is located over on the lower portion of the right side of the horseshoe. It ends up being a little bit of a drive, but it's totally worth it!
It literally is a small farm located next to an inlet. They're serving up some great food here!
We split some crab mac & cheese, some fish and chips, and some clam chowder amongst our family. The crab mac & cheese is unbelievably good! It's expensive, but this is truly a time where you are getting what you're paying for. They use some really cool noodles that are made by a company on the island, and the crab is all fresh caught. they do an amazing job of making each bite, creamy, hearty, and just plain good! The crisp on the top, coming from a broiler, I would suspect, is absolutely magical!
Our son, who is quite the seafood enthusiast, dubbed the clam chowder, some of his favorite. We also found, the fish and chips to be quite lovely, as well as the steamed clams. It's hard to go wrong with seafood that is this fresh!
They've got a great beer and wine selection as well. They've also got very friendly people running the place. It can definitely get busy, so it's worth getting here early and being willing to share a table with others. Food is always better with friends!
this is absolutely a spot that you need to check out if you find yourself on orcas Island. As previously stated, it's a little bit of a drive, but it's totally worth it for the experience and the flavors!
