Best Restaurants to Try While Visiting Wilmington, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Simply put, Buen Dia serves one of the region’s most delicious breakfasts. Be prepared for a wait, especially on weekends, but also be assured that the wait is worth it. Chilaquiles with fried eggs, breakfast burritos and tacos, tiras de chicharron (crispy pork belly strips with guacamole and salsa), molletes, tamales, and more grace the menu. The entometadas are superb (corn tortillas filled with cheese, special tomato sauce, cilantro, and more cheese paired with steak), and the sopita de fideo (tomato-based soup with noodles and chicken flautas garnished with sour cream, queso fresco, pickled jalapeños, and cilantro) is a must-order for those nursing a hangover, perfect given the Wilmington location’s proximity to UNC-Wilmington. (The Castle Hayne location offers the same menu but with a slightly different beverage selection.)" - Matt Lardie

When you walk in, you immediately feel as though you have stepped in to another country. It is colorfully decorated and a life size rooster greets you front and center. The tall booths are inviting and the menu covers breakfast and lunch. I couldn’t decide what to get, as there are so many choices. I ordered the Birria Bowl and it was outstanding, with a generous portion of birria, rice, cilantro, avocado, and onions. It was flavorful and the meat was so tender. I would highly recommend this place!!

Came from outta town and after the first day we came back the remaining 2days from my trip!!! Food was good & authentic Chilaquiles were definitely my favorite!! Would love for the tamales were pork instead of chicken! The male waiter was very attentive and drinks were great!!! We had him both days and was one of the reason we came back ! The Conchitas rellenas were not good, bread was Hard!!

We had such a great experience here! Our server, Alex J., was amazing—he went above and beyond to make our visit special. He even hand-squeezed the oranges for our mimosas, which were some of the best we’ve ever had. The food was delicious, and Alex guided us through the menu with great recommendations that did not disappoint. Excellent service, great atmosphere, and fantastic food—we’ll definitely be back!

The traditional chilaquiles were quite delicious and brought back fond memories of my mother's cooking. The tamales were also enjoyable. The pancakes with lechera were absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend them above all else 😋 😀
