Miami’s 14 Best Breakfast Restaurants

"Enjoy a little slice of the French way of life and breakfast at this unfussy diner in Buena Vista, located just north of the Miami Design District. Buena Vista Deli Review - Buena Vista - Miami - The Infatuation

"Buena Vista Deli is a casual spot perfect for those mornings when you roll out of bed with no reservations, or eggs in your fridge. You will most likely be able to walk into this little French restaurant in Buena Vista. When you do, ask for a table on their little side patio if it's nice out. It’s a cozy, peaceful setup where you can eat simple sandwiches, quiche, omelettes, and pastries. They have mimosas too, in case coffee just won’t cut it." - Ryan Pfeffer

Named for the neighborhood, not the food, this is a French deli/cafe near the Design District. We were surprised there were very few people for a Sunday at noon. We enjoyed cappuccinos & authentic French cuisine. Many delicious desserts to choose from as well. Definitely worth a stop.

Google
Found this location, via a blog on best places to have breakfast in Miami. It’s a cozy store nothing fancy ,the staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to explaining the menu. We had the Spanish tortillas and the croque madam replaced the ham with salmon 🍣! That’s was our favorite ❤️

Google
Delicious. 10/10 sandwiches. Had the roast beef, prosciutto, and chicken avocado sandwiches. Great service. Very personable. Parking is slim pickins even during quiet times. We parked a few blocks north and around the corner. FYI they are moving by Jan 19 to a new location nearby with a new name "Oui"

Where do I start. I love the food, service and ambiance. I came in for the first time on Friday morning and I’m back today Monday morning. I haven’t stop thinking of the delicious egg and bacon croissant…. It is perfection. I also had a superDuPont juice which was orange, carrot, and ginger juice so yummy. And my fiancé had a combo number one, which was soup or salad and half a sandwich. He opted for a Greek salad and a roast beef sandwich. He loved it. We took a croissant to go, and a crème brûlée. The croissant wasn’t as good as it was there at the restaurant, but the crème brûlée was phenomenal. On my second visit I ordered the egg and bacon croissant to go and while I waited I had a chouquette. It was so yummy. I can’t forget to mention Robert he was he both times and was so wonderful. He greeted us warmly and was extremely kind. I highly recommend checking this delish french deli out.

This place is a hidden gem. Real French in the making. Everything was delicious and made fresh in the hands of their chef directly from south of France. The Escargots WOW. The lobster quiche was exquisite and the Croque Madame Facón Ducasse was more than anticipated. Staff so professional and at the same time with great ambient and making our experience outstanding. We will definitely be coming here more often.

Google
The closest thing I've had to pastries in France. This place has delicious french pastries! My absolute favorite is the Almond Croissant. All their pastries are exactly as they should be. You can tell they put a lot of love into their products. I've had the strawberry tart, regular croissant, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, Royal chocolat, Napoleon, cappuccino and the quiche (❤️❤️❤️❤️) Not one single negative things from any of these items. This places also sells homemade bread! Service was excellent….thanks!!! I will comeback again!

Google
Wow! Had a fantastic breakfast here this week! I wish I could eat their quiche every day!! The outdoor patio is charming and shaded, my mocha with almond milk was perfect, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
When we miss being in France, which is often,we come to Buena Vista Deli! This deli is the best for breakfast, has a friendly staff, inside and outside tables and fresh squeezed orange juice. The food is always delicious, served in a timely manner and portions are perfect. The restaurant is on the smaller side and can get busy fairly quickly, best to arrive early for your choice of seating with no wait. It's never too loud and the lighting is perfect. Parking can be tough as its street parking only, but it's definitely worth the struggle. We highly recommend a visit to Buena Vista Deli if you love France and the food, if not, we still recommend you visit. It's that good! Enjoy.

Yelp
I love this place. It's a small restaurant but so good. Parking is on the street so finding a spot is hard. When you get a spot, it is such an experience. It gets busy on Saturday but there is indoor and outdoor seating. They are pet friendly. I had the Spanish tortilla with croissant. So good but a bit spicy for my taste. I had a good latte. Yum to it all! It is a bakery also. So the croissants come in different flavors. There are breads and beautifully designed desserts. Please come and have some. This is the type of place that you can spend time over your meal. They are not pushing you to get out. We can't wait for the next time.

Yelp
Stopped here for a Too Good To Go order pick up. Nice little cozy restaurant very clean and friendly staff. The TGTG order was amazing. The desserts were delicious and fresh. From the passion fruit/coconut mousse to the chocolate eclair. Everything was fantastic. I grabbed one of their menus and am definitely coming back here

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast places in Design District! Authentic Italian bakery and great service! Strongly recommend

Yelp
Tried the server's recommendation of the goat cheese and portobello quiche and I was not disappointed. Only thing it was a bit overcooked but huge portion. Service was good. I liked that the server wasn't too overbearing as I was working but he was also present if needed.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious breakfast to go. Cheesy and saucy eggs Benedict with smoked bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the yolks were oozing out once I cut them. The plastic forks and knife were ok to cut through the bread. Very tasty. Very satisfied.

Yelp
The best place because the food is delicious and the staff is amazing. Been here twice and will go back. French food and pastries in Design District without pretensions. The corner location has large windows and outdoor seating, although it's too hot to eat outside. Its been a long time since I enjoyed the food as much as the service.

Yelp
5 star service! So friendly! Can't believe I hadn't been here before! There are so many good spots on 2nd ave too but the prices here are really good for lunch! Soup and half sandwich (looked more like a full sandwich portion) for only $11. I couldn't believe it. The soup portion was also a large bowl. Other french fare spots would have charged me double and given me a cup of soup! I will definitely be back for the french onion soup and the other soup specials with a sandwich again. Place is also very quite and good for co-working. Pet-friendly too! :)

Yelp
Buena Vista Deli is a small but lovely French restaurant with seating outside and inside. Situated in the Buena Vista neighborhood near the Design District and Wynwood you can make an outing of your visit here. We've been coming here for many years, always for breakfast and it's always been very tasty. I do recommend coming early as parking is very scarce, only street parking as they don't have a parking lot. The food is great, authentic croissants and sweets. I found some things a bit overpriced, like the orange juice but other than that, big portions. I love their quiche and breakfast plates like the croque-madam and croque-monsieur, delicious.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and years before design district was even built I go from time to time amazing food as always highly recommend the lox bagel or the ham and cheese crossiant ,always have fresh soups , service has gone down a bit unfortunately no one seems attentive had to get up and refill my own water twice but none the less amazing food as always and will be back for sure .

Yelp
The best croissants ever. We had the almond croissants which were crusty on the exterior and soft on the inside. Best. French. Bakery. Must return.

Yelp
A cute little spot with great food and pastries. I got the soup and sandwich lunch special with the half roast beef sandwich and soup of the day (pumpkin), both were excellent. For dessert I got a creme brulee which tasted like maybe it had some almond extract or something? Whatever it was was really good. The only downside is very limited parking (street parking, north bound only), we got the last spot on a holiday at lunch time.
google avatar

Yelp
The pastries were fresh and tasty imo. I wish I ordered the ham and cheese croissant for myself but instead I wanted to try their BVD Sandwich which came with ham and cheese on bread with another layer of cheese on top that's grilled. I thought the cheese was too much on top. I tried my friends ham and cheese croissant and thought it was good. The price point is quite expensive for what it is. 4 sandwiches for $50 something not including tip and I tipped another 20% for a to go order. I wish they would make it a bit more affordable for a location like this. I think it would attract more customers.

Yelp
We love Buena Vista Deli! The vibe is chill, food great and service, well... French! My grandmother and aunt lived a block from this corner over 50 years ago. The corner was a convenience store. Now, it is our go to place in Miami! Love the decor, the pastries are amazing, bread as authentic as one can get in a tropical climate! They have a great collection of wines and Prosecco to enjoy. I particularly enjoy that they have, along the window, Asterix comic books to wile away the afternoon! Highly recommend this neighborhood restaurant!

Yelp
French bakery with a great variety of savory items, bakery items, and desserts! They had a few different flavored quiches, in addition to sandwiches (such as the croque monsieur and croque madame), salads, and soup of the day. We tried two different flavored quiches and boy were they tasty- they were both fluffy, flavorful, and not too much pastry flakes to overwhelm the egg. The spinach quiche was the hit at our table. The bacon and mushroom quiche, while it tasted like bacon, only had a few bacon pieces actually in the quiche so that was a bit of a let down. I am giving this meal 4 stars due to the wait. 40 minutes after we ordered, we were told they no longer had the leek quiche. We switched to bacon and mushrooms and it took another 20 minutes before we got our food. In this time, no one came to check on our table or apologize for the wait until we flagged someone down (for a refill on our waters, for clean silverware, etc.). It was a bit disappointing considering we ordered 2 desserts and 3 meals (1 to go) for 2 people.

Yelp
Amazing!! I've been coming here for several years and it just kept getting better! The ownership is rocking the house!! He has made this spot a French culinary delight!! I have had the luck of tasting every dish on the menu and each is just a superb in flavor. What's on the menu traditional French bakery and deli with a flair of French cuisine. Come check out some local graffiti art on their "amour" mural paired with outside seating. The service is fantastic and friendly! The owner is there to attend and exceed your expectations. Come try it out it's a must visit in the design district/ buena vista área

Yelp
This little corner spot is dreamy... that I keep coming back! They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly and great for suggestions. This time I ordered the grilled chicken panini and the ham/Swiss cheese croissant. The panini chicken was not what I expected but better. The bread was real toasty giving a great crunch bite. But, the chicken was tender that it would tear with every bite. The pesto was a great touch! Delicious! The croissant was sweet and flaky. Great quick breakfast with a cup of coffee. This place serves the best croissants! My favorite that you must try is the almond croissant. On holidays, they also make big almond cakes. They are delicious, original, and great for the family.

Yelp
Good food, friendly service, very casual and cozy, also pet friendly :) Sat&Sun French Brunch

Yelp
This place was great! The food was delicious. The waiter was very nice. And it was family-friendly!

Obie S.

Yelp
Outstanding. Ordered a Royal cake to serve 8 for my birthday. Beautifully prepared. Many had never sampled a cake from BVD. They were blown away. Everyone was grateful we didn't get the usual chocolate cake from the supermarket. Yes, I could have made my own at home, but, it was a gift to myself. Frankly, BVD are better pastry chefs than I.

Yelp
Amazing French bistro in the heart of Miami that makes you feel as if you are in France! Everything on the menu is delicious! Reasonable prices! My go to!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good little French bakery/ deli. Decided to come try out their breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Staff was friendly and service was quick. I got the bacon and cheese croissant and added a fried egg to it as well as had a mochaccino. Couldn't leave without trying a few of their sweets so I ordered the "kit Kat" and creme brûlée both were fantastic but the Kit Kat was divine. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Tried this place today. I had the goat cheese & mushroom quiche, it was fresh, the taste was impeccable, the portion size was nice. I also had the potato & leek soup which was excellent. I also had I think it was called the DuPont juice, it was good but they used pre packaged juices. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars. There was only one waitress, the place was full, however the service was not slow. If ur in the area, it's a must try. Can't wait to go back to try some different items.

Yelp
I have been going here for years. I have also ordered food for group meals and parties. Great price with yummy French dessert and meals (comfort food).
google avatar

Alexis Andrea N.

Yelp
Ordered the opera cake for my birthday and it was the perfect size! The texture and flavor was all you could hope for in an opera cake. Thick ganache, not too sweet, with just a hint of moist espresso flavor. Every bite was decadent and light and rich all at the same time. I definitely want to go back and try their quiche, all their desserts and their house made foie Gras!
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
I enjoyed Buena Vista Deli for a solo lunch. I had the campagne sandwich, French fries and a glass of champagne and it was all good (the champagne they carry is just ok). The little patio is cute and the service is friendly. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Ossip B.

Yelp
This place used to be much better a while back. Recently the food and pastries have gotten really bad. I ordered several pastries the other day for a party we were having at home and I'm sorry to say they weren't very good to say the least. The eclairs were very bland and there was just something off with the level of sweetness. I'm not sure if I'll be going back with so many better options in the area.
google avatar

Nelu R.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on Saturday and it was incredible! I got the eggs benedict with salmon, and the orange-carrot-ginger juice. The benedict was delicious and the hollandaise sauce was very unique with a touch of sweetness in it that was quite nice (possibly due to a sweet French butter? not sure, but SO delicious!) The croissants were buttery and flaky and wonderful, and the juice was so refreshing. My friend got the brunch special which came with a lot and looked great too. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Mischel E.

Yelp
This place is a disaster . The unfortunate part is that the pastries and food is actually really good . If it wasn't for the owners and staffs ego and lack of respect the and professionalism restaurant would be successful. Rude is never in season . Take care
google avatar

Virginia S.

Yelp
Delicious and has a great vibe. The Croissants are one of the best in Miami. The outside patio is very chill and is covered. The people are friendly and you feel welcome.
google avatar

Franco Z.

Yelp
let me start with saying that the food was AMAZING!!! The customer service was outstanding and the desserts are wonderful!! Amazing atmosphere ! 5 STARR

Michael K.

Yelp
I am giving them 5 stars for their quiche because that is the only thing I have ever ordered. It is the best quiche I have had in Miami and I have tried lots of places. The owner is from France. It was better than I could make myself but now I have figured out how to make one similar, use heavy whipping cream 1/2C per egg, and beat it into the eggs with a immersion blender so it gets very light and velvety smooth. It is easier to just order it from them!
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
Deli sandwiches on fresh baguette are delicious. Pricing is good. Will visit this again when in Miami.
google avatar

Mauricio G.

Yelp
5 stars for going the extra mile on my girlfriends birthday! We arrived on a Friday morning and the staff was super caring. We ordered the omelets which are huge! The smoked salmon with capers on a baguette were delicious. We recommend this place for a chilled and delicious start to your day or weekend.
google avatar

Yelp
Have always loved this place but this last time I went, service was terrible. Not friendly, not attentive, not professional. Maybe it was an off day... but not good.
google avatar

Oscar R.

Yelp
Nice little joint with a quiet environment just north of the Design District of Miami. Great pastries and excellent coffee. Perfect place to go if you want to avoid crowed places and support a local business. I'll be back
google avatar

Marisabel M.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite French restaurant. I went yesterday to have lunch. I waited for two appetizers 30 minutes. Service never existed. The person who took our order was impolite. On top, he automatically included the tip on the check, that I didn't see, and left the table without saying "bye" or "thank you". Last time. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
Buena vista deli has the best quiches in Miami! They are fantastic!! Definitely try the leek quiche and the lobster quiche. Their croissants are also fantastic! They just recently moved to a new location in midtown. Although, I prefer the coziness of the original location, business seems to be better here. BVD partnered with a Greek restaurant named Eat Greek. They gave us both menus and we decided to try the sausage appetizer. It was not good, didn't taste homemade and the pita was burnt! I will always be a loyal customer of BVD, but will not be ordering from the Greek menu again. Nevertheless, wishing them both much success on the new location!
google avatar

Tori C.

Yelp
It is as delicious now as it was 10 years ago. The vegetarian options are plentiful and delicious. I got the leek quiche and a chocolate croissant, which were both perfect. My kid got the Niçoise salad and loved it, very fresh and tasty. The au lait was perfect. (They have almond and oat milk as well.) The outdoor seating is lovely and highly recommended.

Yelp
I've been here about 3 times now and almost every single thing I've tried was A1. Like, wow. Standouts are the almond croissant ($3.80), onion soup ($10), lobster quiche ($10.50), and the meat lasagna ($13- and in fact, it was better than one at an Italian spot I tried!). The quiches and lasagna each come with a fresh salad and a piece of yummy bread. The ever elusive macarons are great, as are this other pastry I tried, upon recommendation from the woman at the counter (owner? Very patient and helpful!) - don't remember the name but see picture below. I want to give a special shout out to the croque madame ($12) because I initially got it based on a picture I saw here on yelp but when I opened the container and saw it in person I was put off. As soon as I saw it I remembered that I actually don't like ham and cheese LOL. I was fully expecting to hate it --but, y'all. When I tell you this sandwich was INCREDIBLE. I am not even trying to exaggerate. That sauce in the middle?! Wooooow. Excellent!! And I swear after every delicious bite I kept expecting the next one to be not-so-good but it kept being delicious!! I didn't eat the whole thing and it was still delicious upon reheating the next day (in the oven). I 1000% recommend this dish!!! The two things I haven't loved are the quiche Lorraine (again, don't like ham lol) and the plain croissant - I much prefer the one from that one bakery in wynwood (but BVD's almond croissant is superior!). The one piece of feedback I have, and hope they see, is that they should consider using a more sustainable product for their takeout boxes rather than styrofoam. I always feel terrible ordering quiche knowing they are going to use one of those big styrofoam boxes for the one slice and the side salad. Wish they'd use a compostable or reusable material. They have non-plastic straws so it seems they are trying to be mindful about this in other ways. tl;dr Be good to yourself and go to BVD!

Yelp
Havent been in a while but have fond memories. Cute little place and yummy food. Hard to find french cuisine in miami these days

Yelp
Finally decided to try Buena Vista Deli and I'm so disappointed. Everything from parking down to service was a total fail. They have a sign outside that says "come inside and get your free parking voucher" which turns out the parking lot is 2 blocks away from the deli, fine we'll walk... It was such a nice day out so we sat outside. Got menus rather quickly and the waiter came to take our order 3 seconds after getting the menu.... Being our first time here we wanted to take our time and look at the menu. He was a bit rushed and had a slight attitude when we opted to change a few things on their specialty omelette to match our taste. Apparently their specialty omelette are "pre made and can't be changed" which was odd, I've never heard of pre-made omelettes. We did get to build our own omelette and some of the things we wanted like peppers were "unavailable because it's already on the specialty omelette" still build our own with what we had to work with. Also ordered a side of fresh fruit salad. Now, the fruit salad, was NOT fresh at all! It consist of apples, about 2 strawberries and 2 slices of banana drowned in some kind of cinnamon sauce. You can tell this was prepared a while back because the apples were gritty and the banana had ripen. My Omelette had mushrooms on them which I did not ask for so that was a bit of a surprise when I bit into it. It was also those kinds of omelettes where they're super watery so I really didn't enjoy it because I feel like I'm eating raw eggs. The waiter didn't even come check up on us yet a different waiter checked on his tables twice and someone else even came to ask us how's everything. My overall experience was not good and I wish it would of been because it's in my neighborhood and everyone else seems to like it. I guess i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and go again in the near future.

Yelp
Incredible!!! Woke up craving a French breakfast and that is exactly what I was served. Delicious. The croissant sandwich was perfectly buttery and soft. New favorite breakfast spot

Yelp
My favorite French restaurant. Try their pâté and their mussels. Perfect with a rosé! I'm guilty for loving their French fries! AMAZING!

Yelp
Hidden gem... Nice ducked off spot with food and even better sweets... Everything looks definitely going back!!

Yelp
We've been there twice. Both times, we waited... and we waited and we waited some more. It seemed random which table was served and which wasn't. Then the food came out cold. This last time, after 40 minutes, we just left.

Yelp
Nice place for a reasonable meal in a pricey neighborhood. Very good and caring, but somewhat slow service. Soup of the day, spinach soup was different, a bit too salty. The half sandwich was huge. Be careful ordering - if you want chicken and brie to make sure you don't get chicken and avocado! My daughter had the onion soup - another huge portion, a meal in itself. She also had a panini and brought half home. Very casual, very good.

Yelp
Very french in a city with lots of latin flavors. So if you come here: 1) Get the Quiche! Everything else is just okay. 2) Pass on the croissants b/c it's not soft/flaky the way I like 3) Get a pressed JUICE!!! So fabulous service with lot of outdoor seating in cute district, this place is a good stop-over but don't go way out of your way if you just need some coffee/croissants.
