Locals return for inventive & classic, table-cooked barbecue & sushi in a boisterous atmosphere.
"One of the first Korean barbecue restaurants in the area, this Clairemont Mesa establishment has been serving grilled meats since 2001. The broad menu caters to just about everyone, including from AYCE options, a la carte, and Korean stews. Most tables are set up with barbecue grills. There are three tiers for the AYCE with the top level offering New York strip steak and black tiger shrimp; each level also has a more wallet-friendly kids pricing for ages 10 and under. The a la carte menu features combo meals with quality meats like beef short rib filet, LA galbi, beef tongue, and black tiger shrimp. It’s also one of the only places in town with makgeolli (Korean rice wine) on draft." - Helen I. Hwang
"Ordering ahead for takeout has its advantages at Buga. The restaurant offers 20% off the entire order which includes everything from appetizers like fried dumplings and jap chae noodles to bento boxes packed with spicy pork or short ribs." - Darlene Horn
