The bull is very beautiful, both in its interior and exterior. It has the feel of an old country pub and is almost always buzzy and with a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and are clearly very knowledgable about the menu.
The food comes in huge portions, and I really mean huge. The Yorkshire puddings were the size of my head.
The food is average - good but nothing special and I wouldn't recommend the Bull if you're looking for particularly great food. The vegetables were hard and undercooked and the tart for dessert was sickeningly sweet and too hard to cut. The meat, however, particularly the crackling, was fairly good. The food also took a while to arrive.
If you're looking for good beer rather than good food, the Bull is the place - the beer is exquisite.
The bill came to £100 including a gratuity. That was for 5 people.
So if you're looking for a fairly cheap, average dining experience with wonderful beer and a wonderful atmosphere, the Bull is the place for you. I can't give more than 2 stars simply because I expected much, much higher quality food, but had I just come for the beer, I would've given 3 or 4.
