Bun & Blanket - Review - Glendale - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"LA may have reached peak smashburgers, but hear us out, we have room for one more. The burgers at Bun & Blanket feature crisp seared patties that are properly juicy. Plus, their stuffed burgers are a beautiful monstrosity to behold. Our favorite is the stacked quesabirria, which has a thick patty filled with braised beef that you dip in a cup of beef consommé. These burgers are best paired with a cold beer, specifically one from Glendale's Paperback Brewing where Bun & Blanket is parked daily." - Jean Trinh

Just genuinely delicious food and the people running it are so kind. They took great care of us and wanted to ensure we had everything we needed. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Went into Paperback Brewing on a Friday night about 630pm, this food truck is out the front and they are awesome! Service is exceptional. You get a buzzer and can go back and enjoy your drinks while they cook, it was pretty quick to be honest to get the food. Wasn’t too busy. I ordered the Fish Po’Boy without Peppers, loaded fries and a double smash burger. The loaded fries are good they are just smothered in cheese so if that’s not your style maybe ask for less cheese or just get a side of normal fries. The Po’Boy was honestly the best I’ve had. Fresh fish and great flavors with the sauce and mango. The smash burger was a decent size and very fresh. Great service. Great food and a great price! Will go back again when I’m at the brewery.

Google
The smash burger was so damn good, I had to order a 2nd. I ordered the smash burger with bacon, Cajun fries & the chili. Everything was so so good. The service was phenomenal and I can’t wait to come back!

Google
A delicious and relatively inexpensive smash burger. Melt in your mouth, well cooked and well seasoned. Ever since I had this burger, I've been craving burgers since. It was also very fast! I'll definitely be back.

Google
Deliciousness! Got the birria burger and a double smash burger. It was so good! Plus you can grab a nice cold beer at Paperback!

Norik T.

Google
One of the best smash burgers I've had. The guys are also very hard working and so nice and cool. Very honest business, providing good quality food.

Google
The only reason I gave 4 stars on their food was that the bulgogi fries were kind of salty. A bit pricey, too.

Moved from New York to Glendale, I thought of the best chicken grilled sandwiches in Brooklyn!!Now I am so happy that found Bun and Blanket who provide the best burger and chicken grill in my life, sorry Brooklyn!!!near the draft pilsner beer! Next, I would like to recommend opening a restaurant and I wish my dream come true! Thank you for such a satisfying and delicious food!!!

Yelp
Best Smash Burger in Town - Bun & Blanket Food Truck Absolutely blown away by the smash burger here. The patty had that perfect crispy edge with juicy, beefy flavor packed into every bite. The cheese was melted just right--gooey and rich--and the sauce? Game changer. Tangy, savory, with just a touch of sweetness that tied everything together. The bun was soft yet held its shape--no soggy mess--like a cozy blanket wrapping the whole thing up (fitting for the name!). Every ingredient felt thought-out and dialed in. You can tell they care about getting it right. It's not just a burger--it's a crave-worthy experience. If you see Bun & Blanket parked nearby, don't walk--run. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Yelp
I was at a tech mixer last night and found this interesting food truck outside. The service was great and be managed to greet us immediately even though they were very busy. They have a decent amount of options to choose from. I got a double patty smashed burger with no onions and some chilli on it. Burger took about 10-15 min to come out. Nicely seasoned and not too dry. The chili was nice and spicy Price was like $13/14 with tax i believe, not bad. Would definitely eat again

Yelp
Tasty food, and not salty at all. the patty hit the spot and service was great. I got the single smash-simple and to the point.

Yelp
Needed a meal before going to the movies and I saw that bun & blanket had vegan items! The price was steep like $15+ steep. We drove here and almost missed it because the food truck was right in front of the brewery so we needed to u-turn and there wasn't much parking, so be prepared to find your spots! They were quick to take our order but it took quite a while to receive it. There wasn't much people there so that surprised me. There was plenty of seating around the corner so be sure to look there! I wished the size was a littk2 bigger, I left hungry and had to order a snacky snack at the movies
google avatar

Yelp
Picked up a double smash burger and loaded fries to go. The truck is outside the paperback brewing co. Service is quick from when you order to when it's ready. The burger is juicy and hits the spot. The loaded fries is plenty to share & I love how much cheese, sauce and caramelized onions there are. Parking- street parking

Yelp
Four of us went to Paperback for some beers and we got double and single burgers plus the Bulgogi fries. Everything was hot and fresh and the patties were nice and smashed, just the way i like them. Fries were the best, but sharing them mad them more diet-friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Yelp
It's a good thing Bun & Blanket is a permanent fixture at Paperback Brewing, so I don't have to chase them all over the city. They have the best smash burgers - possibly one of the best burgers in general - that I've ever had. Their jalapeño relish is phenomenal, elevating an already excellent burger. Their fries are crisp and just salty enough. Paired with one of Paperback's brews, it's a perfect meal. They also have specialty burgers, like the BBQ Pulled Pork Stuffed burger, which is great as well. I wish they would bottle and sell their jalapeño relish. It is SO. GOOD.

Yelp
Bun & Blanket really does serve up the best damn burgers! When I'm craving more of a classic flavor, I love the triple smash. Three delicious patties of Wagyu beef, smashed to perfection with a crispy edge and rich with flavor; grilled and raw white onions; pickles; and American cheese. And if I'm craving something a little different, I love the Gogi-Gooey. This creative burger has bulgogi beef stuffed inside a thick patty, American cheese, kimchi slaw, fresh green onions, and gochujang aioli. I was not prepared for how much I would enjoy the kimchi slaw with the thick patty both in terms of the pickled taste and the cool, crunchy feel. Perfection! The fries are also stellar-- the right amount of salt and crispness. I always opt to make my burgers a combo with the fries. The service is also really friendly, and they have both a kid's menu and pup patties for the dogs. While it's a food truck, it's parked outside the incredible Paperback Brewery, which has a cool ambiance, so grab a beer and a meal for a great time!

Yelp
This burger was a hit. Got a double smash without the raw onions and a side of fries. Burger was very tasty. Right ratio of cheese to meat. Enjoyed the all parts of the burger. I was going to only order a single because I wasn't sure how hungry I was actually. Ended up ordering a double and I looked down and I had crushed it before I knew it. Fries were also very good. They were a little thicker than shoestring fries. Quick service. It's awesome it's connected to Paperback brewery. Great beers and lots of seating. We will be back.

Yelp
I've been to paperback countless times but last Sunday was my first time trying Bun & Blanket out front and man was it good! The chili cheese fries were so Delicious. I loved the smash burger , I shared it with my toddler who also thought it was great. We both really enjoyed the pickles. 10/10 I will definitely try more on the menu next time we visit. Good food, quick service and very friendly people! *I had a typo prior, I didn't realize it autocorrected! The service was excellent! My apologies *

Yelp
The smashburgers are the best! Perfectly seasoned, thin patties but not dry, lots of sauce and onions, just how I like it! Really really good!

Yelp
In town visiting Glendale, CA taking care of business today from the high desert area near Apple Valley and Victorville, CA and I Googled best burgers near me. I found Bun & Blanket, I read the reviews and was instantly intrigued, so I wanted to try it. To my surprise. I pulled up to a unique Brewery and the food Truck Bun & Blanket was out front. We placed our order for food, but didn't try the beer on this visit. The triple burger was top notch in taste and presentation, it was Juicy and scrumptiously seasoned well, along with a soft full-filling bun. We enjoyed our burger and delicious fries. The hospitality of the patrons was so inviting and welcoming, along with the two men working the food truck. We look forward to returning and bringing other family member to enjoy Bun & Blanket too. Deliciously Good, if in town you have to try it? You will be happy you did.

Yelp
This food truck was outside of paperback brewing - so so good!! I got the birria fries - amazing. So much meat, perfect amount of flavor- overall great. The guys in the truck were so helpful and kind. Overall amazing and will def be back to try other foods!!

Yelp
Burgers were awesome! I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better burger. The fries were great by themselves, but they come with spicy ranch and a great fry sauce. Everything was absolutely fantastic!

Yelp
Decided to get a burger and fries here and I'm so glad I did! Excellent! Nice soft bun with a nice size portion of fries. Very very tasty! Thank you Sarkus! Nice looking food truck too! Great colors! Nice chill ambience.

Yelp
(Dined 10/28/23 SA @ 12:00pm and once before): I understood the bun... but what about the blanket!? I was in attendance for Paperback Brewing Co.'s 3rd annual Halloween celebration with a limited edition t-shirt and a pint of beer for $15.00, when I also opted for some food at their own personal residence kitchen, Bun & Blanket Food Truck. I've tried their food once before and was satisfied with it, so I figured I needed something to soak up all of the suds I planned on throwing back on this lovely afternoon. Would I ultimately be won over by their buns, or would it be a snoozer affair that required a blanket to sleep on!? QUICK BIO "Co-founded by a classically trained chef and his business partner and childhood friend, Bun & Blanket came to life in 2022 as the two foodies imagined how to adapt some of Los Angeles' most popular flavors into fusioned burgers. Once the menu was developed, it just had to be shared." PURCHASE Southwestern Diablo Burger ($15.00): A special Halloween-themed burger made with a juicy meat patty, Oaxaca cheese, and chipotle topped with a chipotle slaw, cilantro, and serrano chili chimichurri all between a black bun, this was a somewhat messy meal but well worth. Although it had some spiciness, I wished it was spicier. And beware... the food coloring used for the bun stayed with me for a couple days if you knew what I meant! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=f5H5pvLObipzQO8fqPfLsw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Chili Cheese Fries ($9.00): A tasty basket of crispy fries (as long as you ate them quickly enough) topped with chili, cheddar cheese, sour cream, onions, and sliced jalapeños, I enjoyed this but wished there was more topping coverage of everything. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rAahRG3i1cA-Kxhl5yiZsw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw SERVICE A friendly man greeted me as I approached the truck, he quickly took my order, gave me a buzzer, and about fifteen minutes later my buzzer was blowing up like a disco ball letting me know my grub was ready. All was straightforward and greatly appreciated - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever the event was held. In this case, the event/residency took place at Paperback Brewing Co. with plenty of free parking along the main drag of Magnolia Ave. and all nearby streets (including San Fernando Rd.). Another option was a driving service like a bus, taxi, Lyft, or Uber (no nearby Metro train station) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with an exterior food menu, separate order and pick up windows, a small area for condiments, napkins, and utensils, no designated seating area except for the brewery itself, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while minimal electric street and truck lighting glowed at night. There were no TVs nor any background music except what was playing inside the brewery. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GiIrgDorCthKv4sWxHmMJg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Bun & Blanket Food Truck was a tasty time for my second go-around, and I would definitely consider them again. My only fear would be their limited menu and eventually trying everything over time. The prices were a tad on the higher end, the food and portion sizes were good, and the service was easy and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $24.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Yelp
The team at Bun & Blanket are awesome! Food is great and they definitely do a good job with what they are serving! My friends go here all the time and now I know what the hype is about! If you're looking for a quality burger look no further!

Yelp
This has got to be the BEST burger/food truck in LA. My wife and I drive from Sherman Oaks just to eat here almost weekly. The staff is always outstanding and the flavors are out of this world. Its also right outside of our favorite brewery, which makes it even better. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
We searched for the 'best burger' in Yelp and this is the first to appear. Because of the great reviews we went there and tried it. It is an unassuming food truck behind the Paperback Brewing company. We were greeted by a pleasant gentleman who patiently took our orders since we couldn't figure out wanted we want to try from the menu. We finally settled with the double smash burger and fries. I tried the lemon pepper fries and my boyfriend got the regular fries. We had to go as we planned to eat at the house. It did not disappoint. It was the perfect combination of the right amount of cheese and meat and pickles and whatever other seasoning they put. Even the bun was perfect. The lemon pepper fries were too lemony sour for me but the regular fries were okay.

Yelp
The food is amazing fun blanket five star everybody come check them out the double smash burger is what to get and a service was amazing

Yelp
Delicious fresh and reasonably priced smash burgers and fries! We always order when we visit Paperback Brewing. So good!

Allen T.

Yelp
I got the double smash and it was probably one of the best burgers I have ever had and I have had burgers everywhere! The guys working the truck were awesome definitely should try this place out!

Sulkis Larry ..

Yelp
I was very happy to discover Bun & Blanket on Yelp. The burger is good. I only wish they were open at noon every day, not just weekends. I probably wouldn't be going at 4:30 unless I was going to Paperback for a beer and a game. But I will return on weekends for lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been going to Paperback Brewery for the past year or so and this review is so so so overdue. Bun & Blanket makes its home on most days parked right outside Paperback, a fantastic brewery and setting in its own right that features amazing beer, great options for seating that includes an outdoor beer garden, and the occasional live music or wandering market on weekends. But this isn't about all that. This is about the comforting embrace you feel when ordering food at bun and blanket. The owner/head chef, Sarkis, is just an awesome awesome guy who makes some of the best smash burgers in the city, but tops that with special rotating sandwiches, loaded fries, fantastic chili, and the Midwest classic of juicy Lucy's with some incredible LA twists (aka - stuffed burgers). Perhaps one of the most unassuming items on the menu though is the "puppy patty." It's one thing to make fantastic food for us humans, but it's a whole different thing when you also offer an option for your fluffy pup hanging out at the brewery with you. The puppy patty is just a standard patty chopped up and low on seasoning. It pairs well with water, butt pats, and ear scratchies, and is sure to set the taste buds tingling of your favorite fluffy muppet. 7/5 would absolutely recommend.

Yelp
First of all bun and blanket is amazingly delicious. I went to bun and blanket today while having a couple brews at paperback, and I placed my order the gentleman that took my order. Read it back to me and it was correct. When I received my chili cheese fries, I said no onion, but they had onion on them. I was willing to pick off onions, and then I realized there were too many. I went back to the food truck and spoke to another gentleman which I presume is either the owner or the manager and he was so accommodating, he fixed me up with a new chili cheese fries and it was beyond delicious. I would give this place more than five stars. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. You have definitely got to go check this place out.

Zachary W.

Yelp
I took my sons there yesterday for the first time and it's one of the best smash burgers I've ever had. The patty is cooked to perfection. The edges of the burger are those crispy, delicious edges you want in a smash burger and yet they don't completely flatten the patty so it's more juicy and robust. It's the perfect combination of texture and flavor. They clearly take pride in what they're doing. A lot of care and intention are put into creating their signature burger. From the bun to the pickles, the quality in the ingredients stands out. The loaded fries are fire too. On top of all that, the guys running the food truck are genuine, kind and down to earth. It's parked right out front of Paperback Brewing Co., which is a great set up. This is now our go-to burger spot.
google avatar

Denis S.

Yelp
With a 5-star average, my hopes were high! Luckily, this place did not disappoint. I got the double smash burger (no raw onions) and the gogi fries (no jalapeños). The burger was absolutely fantastic. Perfect ratios, perfectly cooked, just the right amount of cheesy and greasy. Just a fantastic burger. The fries were pretty great as well. The sauce was on point, the meat was tender, the toppings great. I will say that they were a bit too crispy for me and it came with too much kimchi. But otherwise, just great.
google avatar

Shahr R.

Yelp
Best smash burger in LA! By far. Love this place! Highly recommend. And we sit at the bar when we go there so it's really nice to have the option for beee as well.
google avatar

Troy E.

Yelp
The best smash burger around. I've been to all the big names and this place is the best so far, and somewhat with a clear lead. 'For the win' is just around the corner and you would be better off going to bun & blanket instead. The price is surprisingly fair, the burgers melt in your mouth, the experience is simple and smooth. Cool guys in there. Will definitely be coming back, the menu looks like it has a number of very good items on it. I ordered the double smash (w/ no ketchup because I'm not 12) Also if you're off by it being a truck, they've got some kind of deal with the brewery so you do get to sit down in a cool environment.

Siwatu M.

Yelp
I was skeptical of the rating, but after the first bite I knew it was no exaggeration. I spoke to the owner after I finished my single patty smash and gave him my compliments. He told me they use a wagyu/angus blend and work very hard to provide the best burger possible. I told him they were living up to and beyond expectations. The burger is so flavorful even without any toppings. The meat is delicate and practically melts in your mouth with each bite. My only mistake was not asking for no ketchup! I am not a fan of it on burgers, but the burger was so good I basically didn't mind. They put on just the right amount of everything and no single item overwhelms. The burger itself is the star. Fries were fresh out the fryer and dusted with cajun spice. Perfectly crisp and a little bigger than shoe string. Hopefully they get a wider drink selection - some flavored lemonades would be great for the summer! And if you're a beer drinker, the bun and burger food truck is camped out in front of a cool brewery where you can grab a table inside. Great addition to the neighborhood that I will tell every burger fan I know.
google avatar

Jujube E.

Yelp
This is the best hamburger in the neighborhood that my friend said. After eating, I think the hamburger is delicious, but the French fries are a little soft, maybe because there were too many people at that time, so the mess will be made, I hope it can be improved next time

Yelp
Stumbled upon this yummy spot and wow!! Brought my baby & my pitty, can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The first time I heard about this place was through a very good mutual friend from Saro, aka the traveling greek. I tried their burgers for the first time, and, let me tell you, this place is amazing. Their service is top notch l, the owners are super friendly, and the girl working the register and taking orders is funny and very friendly. The food is beyond this world, and the taste is extremely delicious. I am very picky about what I eat and trust me, and believe me when I tell you this place is a must to check out if anyone is in the area. They parked their food truck in front of a bar called paperback in the city of glendale. I always want to help all my friends succeed in their ventures. Guys from Bun and Blanket , thank you so much for such a pleasant atmosphere and amazing and delicious food. God bless you and keep up the amazing work. Love you guys.

Ehren B.

Yelp
Our family looooves breweries. One of our favorites is Paperback Brewery in south Glendale. The bun and blanket food truck is always there so serve some of the best smash burgers around. Pair that with beer and you're set for a night of laughs and good vibes. We've eaten here upwards of ten times at this point and we are always a large party. Not once have they messed up our order and each time we are left satisfied. They have a good selection of burgers and fries that once again pair well with the beer. Highly recommend. Will be coming here many times this summer with our new baby!
google avatar

Andy S.

Yelp
We tried the double smash burger and kimchi fries. The price for the fries at $15 is a little north of what we'd want to pay for a side, but other than that I have nothing but praise for this food truck. The burger is simple and hits the spot. Sometimes simplicity wins. The truck is conveniently located outside a brewery, so it's a cool place to hang out. We'll probably come back if nearby!
google avatar

Angela G.

Yelp
Decided to grab some food from the Granada Hills Food Truck Row (Grub Fest) this evening since we haven't been in literally months! There were a couple of new trucks on the line up who we haven't seen before so it made us decide on dinner pretty easily and this was one of them! My bf just went for the classic smash burger and I had a few bites since I grabbed something from another truck. The fries had the perfect crisp and the smash burger had SO much flavor!! It was messy but so worth it. It was extremely delicious and just melts in your mouth. I almost wish I got one of my own! This is by far the best smash burger I've ever had. Definitely want to come back sooner and get some more. IG: @ammysalamii

Yelp
eat here with friends. the foood was good the customer service needs done improvement though I understand it's a food place. I'll still eat here the ambiance is cozy and comfortable

Yelp
Today is probably the 10th time I've ordered a single smash burger with bacon and Bun & Blanket is 10/10 FIRE! The crew who run this joint do a great job serving consistently dank smash burgers! Washing it down with a cold brew from the cool vibes at Paperback Brewery is always the Cherry on top! See you guys again soon!
google avatar

Ian T.

Yelp
Great burger and awesome fries. Fun location next to Paperback, which has good beer. Recommended for a night out.
google avatar

Clayton H.

Yelp
Found this food truck outside of a brewery. They are slinging some fire out of this thing. Burgers were juicy and flavorful and the fries are a must. Not one complaint. Everything was next level.

Sam G.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled on this gem of a spot on postmates. Fireeeee. It was so good ordered back to back days. I don't know if it's new spot or they just got on Postmates but damn their burgers are fire. Meat quality and taste is amazing. It's really good. Just one thing, please add ranch dressing option on postmates. Other than that 100% recommending everyone.

Mayra S.

Yelp
I'm on a quest to try as many smash burgers as i possibly can. Today marks my 2nd visit @ Bun and Blanket and once again i was left speechless at the amazing quality of the beef, the bread and fresh ingredients. Great pickles and AMAZING CHILI CHEESE FRIES! Thankfully summer is around the corner and now i'll be enjoying great beer at paperback with great food.

Robert W. N.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. Highly recommend Bun & Blanket. Would be better if not a food truck.

Felipe G.

Yelp
Dang! This spot has been on my "Food Trucks" list for a while now and I'm really mad that I waited so long. I'm thoroughly impressed. I was torn between the birria burger and the double smash. I love a classic burger but "when in rome" right?! I've never seen this on anyone else's menu so I opted for the birria burger. Man oh man. This hit the spot. The flavor of the birria soup really compliments the burger well. The toppings were perfect too. Im usually pretty skeptical on items like this because normally an item like this is more a novelty to take cool pictures but not that flavorful. They look cool, are super unique but the flavor falls short. I was scare this would be the case and would feel the marriage between a burger and a classic Mexican dish like birria would be too forced but I was wrong. You got to try it for yourself. Super cool that they're set up right in front of Paperback brewery too. The vibe is super chill and they offer great beers to pair with your burgers. Ill definitely be back to try some more items.

Yelp
We had a company luncheon that also included customers which totaled 100 people. Bun & Blanket was amazing, the burgers and hot dogs were absolutely DELICIOUS! We will definitely be hiring them again, everyone loved them! 5-Stars!!

Yelp
Where are all my burger fanatics?!!! You have to try this food truck. You can't just eat here once, there's always something new and exciting on the menu. I've already tried the smash burger, the Gogi burger, the falafel burger, the birria tacos and the gogi fries. Everything is fresh and made daily with so much flavor and high quality meat. The taste is always amazing and consistent. They also have vegetarian options and they have dog friendly options! How amazing is that? The chiefs are amazing, friendly and always give extra of whatever you need. Follow them on Instagram to see where they will be. I have found them at the Los Felix flea market and Paperback brewery. Perfect places to eat after shopping or drink great beer and have some food. Can't wait to see what they bring to the menu next.

Yelp
Eating meat, especially in burgers, creates huge environmental costs....fuck it. Clean air is overrated, I dont own a penguin, and the only Iceberg I know of sank a ship and killed thousands. Most Americans eat three hamburgers a week, so serving beef is as patriotic as buying a gun. When we think of today's food trucks, our brains automatically go to tacos. A burger truck is the simplest and most effective way to sell hamburgers. The two bros who run this truck are straight outta Duck Dynasty (see photo) and look they find happiness killing things. What they're killing are their smash burgers and fries. Pick one, two, or three patties on your burger, and pair with Gogi, Birria or BBQ Pork French Fries. Any combination would please even the most ardent stoner. Before you light up again, have a little forethought and you won't be riddled with self-hatred in a few hours. One trip to the Burger & Blanket Truck is all you need to feel virtuous as hell when you're lit. There's nothing quite as satisfying as a good, greasy burger when you're under any sort of influence, and this version is just what you need to help you feel a little more normal. These two bros got more sauce than the condiments aisle. Arrest these two...solely responsible for global warming!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place located in front of a bar in Glendale. Lot of street parking available if not a busy day. Got to try multiple menu items. The loaded bulgogi fries were AMAZING. The burgers were great too but the fries were top tier. The owner is a chef so he knows what he's doing when it comes to ingredients cause everything we tried was great. Great customer service. The ambiance of where the truck is parked is a vibe. Grab a friend or 3 and go try them out!
