The 25 Best Restaurants In Santa Monica

"A midday stroll down Montana Ave. in Santa Monica is a Westside pastime. Characteristics include charming shops, teenagers who think they own the place, and alternative ice cream shops for every dietary restriction. What's missing is memorable lunch options—except for Bun & Mi, a serene, tiny Vietnamese counter spot that’s easy to miss. But please don’t miss their bánh mì sandwiches, loaded with a choice of pork belly, chicken, shaken beef, tofu-mushroom, or garlic shrimp. The beef is divinely marinated filet mignon that oozes into the mayo against the soft baguette innards. Pick one up for a lunch to remember." - arden shore, brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins

So fresh, clean, and fulfilling! The food here is great, you can really taste the quality... but it’s definitely on the overpriced side. The space is a bit small, but the wait times were short (10 minutes), so it wasn’t an issue. The staff were super lovely, with such happy, welcoming energy that made the whole atmosphere feel really good.

Brian Palmer

Google
This is a nice place! Very small and limited seating. I’d say seats 10 max but tbh we were seated for two at 6pm after I’d say 10 minute wait. The food was good! Not blown away but definitely a solid option. Really nice server and the place was vibrant. Def coming back for lunch. We had the chicken rice bowl and pork belly noodle dish. The pork belly was really good! Highly recommend!!! Oh the portion sizes are really big which is a plus.

Jacob Menchaca

Google
Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere! This was my first visit, and I had the chicken banh mi. The roll was fresh, light, and flaky, while the chicken and vegetables were both fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. My cup was religiously refilled with fresh ice water after almost every sip. I already can’t wait to return and explore the rest of the menu. You won’t be disappointed.

Google
The food tasted great, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! We tried several of their sandwiches, rice bowls, and rolls, all of which were delicious! What was even more impressive was the customer service, i’d rate the customer service 6 out of 5 stars if i could. We had a wonderful experience and are definitely going to be coming back. The portion sizes are great and I would highly recommend!

Google
The food is consistently delicious, the service very personable, and the atmosphere cozy. I’ve never tasted such FRESH vegetables, I think it’s key to why the food is so good, and as a vegan, there are so many amazing options! The owners make it a point to remember repeat customers which makes you feel welcomed as well.

Google
Bun and Mi isn’t just my favorite Vietnamese restaurant — it’s one of my favorite places in LA, period. The food is consistently delicious (seriously, the garlic tofu bites are next level), but what truly makes it special are Alvin and Pamela. They bring such warmth, generosity, and authenticity to the experience that every visit feels like coming home. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, they greet you like an old friend, remember your order, and somehow make each meal feel like a mini celebration. If you're looking for incredible Vietnamese food served with heart and hospitality, Bun and Mi is the spot.

Taka H

Google
Amazing superb customer service! I would actually hope so for this space having limited seating. Note: if you feel like trying more than one main dish split it (ex:pho) and you’ll have a solid amount of food, they are not stingy about their splits Banh mi was delish and packed high! They get their bun from a bakery in Los Angeles. Spicy garlic tofu bites were good. Their homemade chili oil was good too! Pho was solid just wish they had a different type of noodle and didn’t cut it up so much when splitting. The noodles were so short and they were hard to grab with the chopstick Metered parking on Montana and it’s right next to the dry cleaners near the corner

Google
Nestled in the heart of Montana Avenue, this charming Vietnamese eatery offers a concise yet delightful menu for dine-in (note: limited seating) or takeout. Their standout Banh Mi impresses with a crispy baguette, accompanied by a tantalizing array of toppings - from tangy pickled carrots and daikon to creamy house-made mayo, vibrant cilantro, and spicy jalapeños for that extra kick. Protein choices include chicken, shrimp, shaken beef, or braised pork, but the vegetarian version, featuring tofu and mushrooms, is equally exceptional. Alternatively, these fillings can be enjoyed in a rice, noodle or salad bowl. Be sure not to overlook their pho as well as the blueberry lemonade with chia seeds, a refreshing and healthful beverage choice. Freshness is a priority here, with the chef-owner consistently ensuring each dish meets their high standards, right from the bar/kitchen to your table.

Yelp
Highly recommend pork belly Bahn mi. There's not a lot of indoor seating and I have always gotten my food to go. Whoever is at the window has always been friendly.
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
Is it a notch above other casual Bahn Mi chains of Vietnamese and sandwich shops, yes. Is it worth $20? Heck No! Everything was freshly cut, and the bun was toasted pretty well. For $20 I was expecting chips and a drink, but this is a la Carte. I know this to be a pricier area, it there's no way I'm forming over $20 for a sandwich -- especially one that is not a giant sub.

Yelp
I have so many incredible things to say about Bun & Mi. Food: 100%, ambiance: 100%, and friendliest staff in all of LA. I'm sure people have commented that they don't have a ton of seating however it doesn't bother me. I don't mind the long wait because the food and service is that good. Can't wait to go back again soon.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday around 12:45 pm and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Parking was fairly easy on the street and in the surrounding neighborhoods. The establishment is pretty small, with about 10 seats in total. The restroom is shared and in the establishment next door. I got the pork belly banh mi ($17) and ube latte ($7), both of which were great. This was one of the juiciest banh mis I have had, which made it stand out among other places. The ube latte was thick and creamy without being too sweet, which I appreciated. The owner was super kind and packed our leftovers for us. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Very yummy and authentic bahn mi! The portion sizes are huge - def get bang for your buck. Service is quick and the staff is very friendly. The place is small so may need to wait to sit or just grab to go. Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely an Asian fusion Vietnamese gem in the SaMo area! Was so happy that I finally got to try the food here. Service is amazing - both owners Pamela and Alvin are the BEST! They are so friendly and extremely attentive to all of their customers! We tried the Spring Rolls, Mango salad, Pork Belly Banh Mi, and Saigon Grilled Chicken Noodle Bowl along with the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Ube Foam Caffe Latte - can't explain how fresh everything tasted here. The meat was juicy and flavorful in every bite! I also loved their seasonal Mango salad which is so refreshing especially during this time of the year. The space is a little smaller but can fit up to 10 people. There is also a takeout window for those who want to order to-go. Talk about efficiency! Plenty of metered street parking available on Montana. A great addition to part of town! Will definitely come back every time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Linda Y.

Yelp
I got the pho special and the portion is rather large but the chicken was super dry! I do want to come back to try their ban mi! It is nice to know there is Asian food on the west side! The restaurant seats the bar and a couple of seats off to the side. The service is amazing and very attentive which I appreciate!

Yelp
Family owned restaurant with bright and quick service whats not to love! The place is small so getting seating it not easy, but when you eat here expect the nicest man in the world to get you everything you need without asking. I have now gone two times and both times were awesome. I got the fresh pork & shrimp spring rolls, beef bahn mi, and beef noodle salad. The spring rolls are fresh and nice combo of veggies. For the bahn mi you can tell the bread is fresh, not my favorite bahn mi in LA, but solid. The noodle salad I preferred better, just wish the beef had more flavor and crisp to combat the soft noodles. Overall, such as cute place and would recommend it to anyone in the area to try!

K D.

Yelp
Pho Ga from a box is what you get. Chicken tasted of refrigerator burn/hard and the broth is so bland not enough fish sauce or hoisin sauce could make it better. Don't fall for good ratings, must be from the owners and their friends.
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
I cannot get enough of this place. We eat here 3-4 times a month. As I mentioned in my first post, I've traveled throughout Vietnam, and got these sandwiches wherever I could find them (or wherever Anthony Bourdain had been to ) But, this Bahn Mi ranks in my top sandwiches of all time. The owners are Alvin and Pamela, and they both are the nicest and most humble and lovely people. Alvin has the amazing ability to seemingly remember every customer's name. They are there everyday taking care and serving their customers and saying hello to passerby's. Their respect and care for their customers is undeniable. The sandwich is made on the best crusty french loaf of bread. The meat is top tier, always tender, perfectly seasoned. They have a homemade sambal sauce that gives just a hint of acidity and spice. The protein options are filet, chicken, shrimp, braised pork belly or a yummy tofu blend. You can get them on a rice bowl, salad bowl, or noodle bowl or in this case, a sandwich. The spot itself is small. Just a few seats. But this food is incredible, even when it's "to go" Don't sleep on this place. It will quickly become your new favorite.

Yelp
I had to drop a friend off to LAX and always have to get something before going back home. My fiancée was craving bahn mi and this place was the closest. I gotta say the parking is a tough one lol but eventually found one sorta close by. I ended up ordering the pork belly, the chicken bahn mi and some egg rolls with a Vietnamese coffee. Even though this fusion, it's way better than the other fusion place I've been to. The other place do these weird mixes and totally ruin the bahn mi but this place does a good job on sticking to the original bahn mi. The only thing I noticed there was a taste of cream cheese? I've never had cream cheese on a bahn mi and wasn't a fan. I also noticed I didn't see any pâté which was a bummer. My fiancée is Vietnamese and also traveled to Vietnam. So I probably gotten used to the pâté. But overall, I really liked the bahn mi and the egg rolls. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
There's a reason this place is voted one of the best Vietnamese spots in Santa Monica. Co-owner Alvin, who serves the front, is always so welcoming, helpful and attentive. The food always tastes fresh with that homemade flavor which makes the experience feel like you're eating with family. The shrimp and pork spring rolls is my favorite appetizer, with their spicy garlic tofu bites being a close second. Their bahn mi is so crispy and is stuffed with lots of protein and veggies. The noodle bowl is also recommended and has a large, filling portion. Their drinks are also amazing - the chia seed blueberry lemonade is so refreshing and the iced latte with ube foam has the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness. Looking forward to continuously visiting this spot and trying their off-menu items. I wish I had a bigger stomach!

Yelp
My husband was in the neighborhood so he picked up lunch from here. He said it was hard to find, but eventually got there. Small place. I was tempted to get a bun mi but instead got the garlic shrimp noodle salad. My hubby ended up getting the pork belly bun mi. He brought it home maybe 45 mins later, so it wasn't as fresh as it could have been. We split the bun mi and the noodles. The bun mi was good, but didn't have pate, like I'm used to. The bread was slightly soggy but that was because it travelled. The noodles were good but needed peanuts. This place is good - slightly pricy and but filling. Overall a good spot if you're in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing superb customer service! I would actually hope so for this space having limited seating. Note: if you feel like trying more than one main dish split it (ex:pho) and you'll have a solid amount of food, they are not stingy about their splits Banh mi was delish and packed high! Yelp
Small, clean space. The nice fellow that helped me couldn't have been nicer not particularly engaging but pleasant. Menu is quite simple and really expressive for each item. I ordered chicken pho, spring rolls and a lemonade and my bill was about 50 bucks with tip. Soup wasn't very flavorful although fresh ingredients were plentiful . Spring rolls same. Worth a try seems popular, maybe not my cup of tea....
google avatar

Maylee W.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese food on Montana. Venue is really small, a counter and another table that seats 4 people. I ordered the beef bahn mi, shrimp noodle bowl, house special pho, crispy cha gio - delicious! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sara Z.

Yelp
I've gotten the Chicken Banh Mi from here a few times for lunch and while the sandwich is good, it's not as good and quite a bit more expensive than the other place I go for Banh Mi. I find most of the food at Bun and Mi to be pretty overpriced in general, with some noodle and rice bowls being almost $30 which is crazy. But with that being said, online ordering is easy, food is always ready on time, and the guy typically working the walk up counter is very friendly and always says hi to passersby that are just walking by. The walk up counter makes picking up food easy and the restaurant itself always appears to be clean and tidy. My biggest complaint is just the pricing unfortunately.
google avatar

Derek T.

Yelp
This spot delivers on both service and food. The service was top notch, always making sure my party was taken care of with waters and sauces. I got the garlic shrimp bowl and the shrimp were plump and juicy. Their fish sauce dressing and homemade chili sauce put the bowl over the top. The bowl was perfectly balanced with noodles, veggies and protein. The inside has limited seating but is such a wonderful ambiance to be in. 5 stars all around will be back!
google avatar

Sayaka S.

Yelp
A small family-owned restaurant that I am so glad we found! The owner is very kind and provided the best service. He's very attentive and friendly. The food was spectacular as well! The noodles were very bouncy and the pork belly was SO GOOD! I would highly recommend trying this place!!! I'm also excited for their seasonal specials, developed by his wife!
google avatar

Bryan R.

Yelp
Starting off by saying this place is truly 5 stars! The owners are so nice and friendly that everyone that was walking by said hi to them because this place is truly loved by everyone in the neighborhood. The food was simple but delicious in the best way possible. This place is recognized by Food Magazines and Yelp as Most Loved for good reason. Can't wait to come back and bring my friends!
google avatar

Martina T.

Yelp
Was craving a pork belly sandwich. Ordered via phone, ready in 10 minutes. $17 plus tax and tip. It is very long, maybe a foot? Bread was perfectly crispy and chewy. Pork had a balanced amount of meat and fat and crispy skin. I only intended to eat half but couldn't stop and finished the whole thing in one setting. It was so good!
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. I've been staying at the hospital up the street with my mom and this meal was the best/most we've eaten all week. The guy that took my order was very friendly and the food was ready super quick. It is a little expensive, two items for $55.
google avatar

Nina N.

Yelp
BAHNMI!! Bread: Crispy on the outside, super soft and fresh on the inside Not your typical pickled radish/carrot, it's just soft texture Crisp cilantro and jalapeño Pork tasted like stewed in a homemade pot of goodness VERY STRONG VIET COFFEE !! Love Alvin and his love for his customers
google avatar

Krys N.

Yelp
Say yes to delicious and legit Vietnamese food! First, the portion sizes are huge and filling. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls appetizer and banh mi with chicken and it was enough for leftovers for a solid second meal. Second, the food is GOOD! No crazy fusion mix, just healthy with OG flavors of how it should taste. My friend slurped up the vegetable pho with all smiles. Great place for a catch up with a friend or lunch break with a colleague. I'm a fan of big open windows and this is an easy to order place if you're new to Vietnamese food but still solid enough to eat at if you've grown up with it. Great service too!
google avatar

Jan Michael F.

Yelp
I randomly came across this gem when I was looking for a Vietnamese place to eat at. The owners were both so nice and pleasant. I was seated right away. The place is very tiny but it's clean and very cozy and comfy. The food and drinks were all so good! I would come back over and over for the Ube Vietnamese Coffee if I could! The Noodle Bowl was sooooo good and it hit the spot. It was delectable. I was craving for Vietnamese food so bad and it was perfect! I definitely recommend this!

Patrick N.

Yelp
First time at Bun & Mi. Small place with friendly service and delicious food. Alvin the owner was very pleasant and the pork belly was fantastic. Highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
I am so happy that I stumbled into to Bun & Mi! I was attending a meeting in the area and needed to get some lunch before my other meeting. I got onto Yelp and they popped up. The seating area is really small, maybe around 8 seats and the gentleman that handles the front area is ON IT!! He also knows all his customers by their 1st name and knows about their family and stuff going on. Apparently, they opened this year and they seem to be fitting into the neighborhood. The vibe they've created at their spot is amazing and the neighborhood definitely needs some variety. Okay, lets get to the food. I went with their spring rolls and noodle Saigon grilled chicken bowl and a chia blueberry lemonade drink. Their spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce they give you is delicious. The Saigon Grilled Chicken bowl was so refreshing, light, but filling. At first I thought maybe I wont be able to finish it but I was able to since the flavors were ahhhhmazing! You have to ask for hot sauce too so definitely ask for it. When I was about to pay, I noticed someone ordered a Vietnamese coffee with Ube on top and I had to get one. OMG!! The coffee and ube is such a great pair and its like a drinkable dessert! I loved this place so much, I need to take my hubby here next time.

Yelp
Delicious food, very clean and great service highly recommend, I look forward to my next visit

Yelp
Wow I was so impressed with Bun & Mi! When you walk up, it's a cute little "hole in the wall" (but way brighter and cleaner) and you ordered at the outside window. There's bar seating and that's about it, but it's airy and open with skylights and a whole wall of windows so you don't feel too cramped. As for the food - it's fresh and bursting with flavor. My four year old kept saying, "it's yummy!" and wanting to dip more of his chicken into the complimentary peanut sauce ( there's also a house fish sauce vinaigrette that was fabulous too ). The service was so friendly and warm too - we had originally wanted to eat in but the wait for a spot at the bar was longer than we had time for. Then a few moments later, they had a space open up and let us have a seat! They also brought our food in actual bowls instead of takeout containers - didn't even have to say anything to them about it, they just took care of that themselves. We will definitely be back - I loved it!

Sandou

Yelp
The pork belly banh mi is the best sandwich I have ever had in my life, no joke. The texture of the pork belly is thick and the flavor is rich and intense. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The vegetables have a great sweet vinegar flavor. It truly is the pinnacle of sandwiches. The owner is a kind, attentive, upbeat, and patient person, making sure your experience is great. The front window is very convenient for togo ordering and the inside, while small, is very clean and perfect for smaller groups or solo diners.
google avatar

Helie L.

Yelp
Only 8 months open but feels like a seasoned place. Superb service from the young owner behind the counter. His wife is the goddess in the kitchen whipping up in quick time our mouth savoring dishes. Met so many returning customers. Everyone was super friendly cuz it's a reflection of the owners' kindness and love. Left a 25% tip but they deserve more. Must eat everything! Warning: come with an empty bladder. No bathroom. Omg I've been back 3 more time since this review and brought a new eater with me each time. When I love someone want to share!

Yelp
I came here recently with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Bun & Mi has a cool storefront with a large window where you can place your order. Seating is limited, however they will take your name and number and call you when there is availability. We put in our name and it wasn't long before they called us. Even though there were only the two of us, we wanted to try a variety of their menu items. We had the Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls, the Crispy Cha Gio, the Banh Mi with Grilled Chicken and the Shaken Beef with Shrimp and Beef. We also had the Iced Vietnamese Coffee an Agave Shaken Green Tea. Everything was delicious, but we particularly loved the Spring Rolls, the Cha Gio and the Chicken Banh Mi. The portions are very generous and easily shareable. We obviously had to take the leftovers home since we could not finish everything. The owners are a very nice couple. They are both very friendly and welcoming. If you are in the Santa Monica area, I would definitely recommend coming here. We definitely plan to return soon!

John M.

Yelp
The service was a perfect combination of fast and friendly with a very personal touch. The food was very tasty, and the portions were even bigger than I expected.

Sunny S.

Yelp
Love everything about this place! Owner is so happy and friendly, space is open and airy, great vibe. The crispy egg rolls are some of the best I've ever had and come with the fresh lettuce, mint (not basil) cucumbers, pickled carrots and fish sauce most places forget about. The proteins for the bowls are tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned and the portions are super generous. I especially love their braised pork belly, yeah there's fat some but so much more deliciously seasoned meat. The banh mi is a perfect sandwich stuffed in a light, crispy French baguette. I catered a work event for 30 and all the bowls and banh mi were fresh and neatly packed, big hit and everyone loved it!
google avatar

Rajiv P.

Yelp
Banh mi w/ pork - good flavor and balance of heat but would have preferred it slightly saltier or saucier. Generous serving of meat and if you're not a big eater it can be shared. After tax / tip it's $22, pretty pricy for a sandwich Owner was very nice and made an effort to make sure all his customers were happy

Yelp
Great little spot at Santa Monica for some fresh Vietnamese food locally owned and beautiful aesthetic! Service was quick and fast and delicious!! Definitely a must try in the area.

Yelp
Everything about Bun & Mi is 5 stars. The authentic, bold, fresh, umami flavors. The warm, attentive, intentional, and caring service. The charming, inviting, cozy, hole in the wall ambiance. 5 stars all around. First, a special shoutout to Alvin and his wife for holding it down. What incredible service. Immediately upon entering, Alvin made us feel right at home. So personal and caring. I felt like I was eating a home made meal at a family member's house! The food? Divine. Everything that we had was out of this world. The shrimp springs rolls, the rice bowl with shaken beef and chicken, the bun rieu... all of them hit HARD. The menu is simple and unassuming. But don't be fooled by its simplicity. Everything is made with fresh and wholesome ingredients, and with plenty of love and intention. This is the spot that Santa Monica needed. Needless to say, we'll for sure be back!

Yelp
If you are looking for a fresh take on Vietnamese favorites - Banh Mi, Rice & Salad Bowls, Pho - this is the place. The ingredients are fresh and all the dishes are delicious. The owners are totally focused on customer service. The space (counter only) is small but clean & bright. Try it out - you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
Bun & Mi already had a ton of praise here on Yelp. It's well deserved. A cute, small restaurant on Montana. Perfect for a quick eat or to-go order. Windows open out onto the sidewalk so there is a pleasant indoor/outdoor, come-and-go vibe. Service is excellent. Such a friendly and attentive gentleman working the counter. Food is good, though I'm not sure I'd say it's as great as other reviews. Tasty, flavorful, healthy. Vietnamese coffee is 100

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese bun and banh mi specialist on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. They've just opened in Jan 2023 on the same block as Father's Office, a couple doors over from The Brothers Sushi. Proprietors Alvin & Pamela also operate Brew Kitchen Bar in Monterey Park. Bun & Mi organizes their menu in a very easy to understand manner. You have 5 proteins to choose from: grilled chicken, braised pork belly, tofu & mushroom, garlic shrimp & shaken beef. Then you pick 1 of 4 styles to have that protein: banh mi (sandwich), salad bowl, rice plate (com tam), and noodle bowl (bun). In addition there's 4 appetizers, 4 drinks and 2 desserts. They can't offer much more than that given the small size of their kitchen, but it actually helps to streamline their menu, making it easier to navigate for those who find a full Vietnamese restaurant menu daunting. The banh mi is fantastic! I love their firm crusty sandwich rolls, unlike the too soft rolls I usually get from most banh mi shops. The sandwich is also the largest banh mi I've had. The proteins are of better quality than most. Given the quality of ingredients, the size of the sandwiches and the Montana Ave location, it's no surprise that prices run a little higher than your run of the mill banh mi shop. The tofu and mushroom noodle bowl (bun) was very good and very large. The crispy cha gio was also very good, with a healthy bunch of greens, herbs, pickled vegetables and fish sauce to wrap and dunk your egg rolls. My fave dish is the bun rieu. It's a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup with a rich broth made of tomatoes, blue crab and shrimp. The soup is loaded with tofu, super light and tender blue crab/turkey meatballs, and vermicelli noodles. So far it's only a rainy day special, not on the regular menu. The small kitchen (the space was a former shoe store) limits the number of orders of bun rieu they can make each day. Alvin runs the front of the shop while Pamela heads the kitchen. They both are exceedingly nice, service is always on point. Bun & Mi has amazing food and great service, it's definitely worth a try if you're hankering for Vietnamese food in this area of Santa Monica.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the prices are good. I pop by for a sandwich nearly every time I'm in the area. I've never eaten in, but it seems like a nice intimate experience at their small counter. I've only ordered to go at the window, which is easy and fast and your food is usually in your hands within about 10 minutes or so, which is awesome considering they are almost always busy when I've come by. Everyone who works there is so friendly and personable, they lift my spirits even on my worst day. You know how everyone is often so busy and overwhelmed with everything it's easy to just feel like people are overlooked or not actually connected to one another? It's remarkable how just in a small somewhat routine conversation to order a sandwich that they can make such a difference. Anyway, highly recommended.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to Montana Ave! I came here because I heard that it had just opened. I ordered it on line -- got the braised pork belly Banh mi. it is pricier than what you'd spend for a banh mi in SGV, but it's worth it! The sandwich is large. It actually ended up lasting me 2 meals! It's chock full of fresh veggies. They are also generous with the pork belly. And the pork belly just melted in my mouth! Oh my gosh! It's not the traditional dac biet sandwich, but I do like it. The bread is perfectly crispy, without being dry. It's fluffy and soft on the inside. My one request is that they remember to fill the sandwich all the way to the ends... It was a bit sad to get to the end of the sandwich and just have a plain bite of bread :(

Yelp
Ok first of all, the owner is SO SWEET & CHATTY. Attentive service. Food is great! Loved my rice noodle bowl. Fresh ingredients, tasty sauce, generous (!!!) portion. Shared the tofu spring rolls, also delish. Small counter space. Clean & airy. Will be back for a bahn mi!

Yelp
You definitely have to try this new Vietnamese sandwich shop. I'll drive anywhere to have a good banh mi And it's great that it's now around the corner. I recommend the chicken banh mi personally but I would think most people would say some more along the lines of the four legged animals. Really big fan of the presentation and the crispness of the bread. The owners drive it in every morning themselves straight from the bakery. It's a great addition to Santa Monica, giving a diverse cuisine that's much needed in this very, um, homogeneous area!

Yelp
Amazing!! we had the special salad and the fillet Banh Mi. Both were fabulous! I also had an Arnold Palmer with their green, iced tea and blueberry lemonade. All crowdpleasers! Parking is tough in the neighborhood, but residential streets, you'll find some thing. It's a very small place with only about 6 to 8 seats. They have a strong to go option.

Yelp
An absolute neighborhood gem! Stopped in for lunch and I so wish I lived closer to visit all the time. The Pho was excellent, incredibly personal staff, and beautiful setting. A must try!

Yelp
There's a reason this place has the rare 5 star rating - the food is great and the service is amazing! Came on a Saturday afternoon (note they close at 2:30pm on Saturdays and are not open on Sundays). There is limited seating inside (less than 10 counter seats) but they will take your number down and call you when there's availability if you want walk around the other shops along Montana Ave. My favorite items were the chicken bahn mi ($16), shrimp+pork spring rolls ($13), and the garlic shrimp ($18). While the menu is a little on the pricier side, the portions are more than generous and the taste is well worth it. The servers/owners are very friendly and welcoming, making this lunch truly great. I'll definitely be coming back for their chicken bahn mi and will recommend to anyone in the area!

Yelp
#TLDR: NKOTB and The Right Stuff. Yep. Open for just a few weeks, Bun & Mi is the New kid on the block, and yes, I'm sayin it, "You got the right stuff" (I'm a Bostonian, so I have that right!). After tasting that pork belly, in both the salad plate and banh mi, I realized I'd never had better, and that "All that I needed was you...!" (I'm not even sure if the song or Bun & Mi came first.....) Seriously though, unlike other places in town, their banh mi has GENEROUS, birthday gift portions of protein. Cooked for hours, they melt in your mouth, and left such a phenomenal after-taste, I actually made the 30 minute drive back the following day for more. If they were open on weekends (which they will be soon) I'd have been back today. Founded by a lovely young couple, the venue offers limited seating for 7 people, and has omakase vibes found in the secret sushi joints only celebs and bitcoin billionaires know about. Clean, great value, delish, and especially important for LA, they offer gluten-free and vegan options. One of my other favorites on their menu is their use of ube (the purple sweet yam) in both their panna cotta, and iced cafe latte. I grew up eating ube ice-cream, and am glad to see more establishments using this flavorful addition to their menus. No time for a sit-down meal? They offer take-out and catering as well. Love this place, and will definitely be a regular!
