"Popular with tourists, Bun Cha Ta offers various bún chả and fried spring rolls. The classic bún chả features tender, smoky grilled pork, well-seasoned meat patties and smooth rice noodles with a balanced soup base. Among the crispy spring rolls, the seafood crab version delivers a consummate umami flavour, while the chicken is rich and meaty. They also offer rice noodles with fried tofu and tomato sauce and fried spring rolls for vegetarians." - Michelin Inspector

Vietnam 101: How To Eat Vietnamese Food Like A Local

"A Bib Gourmand favorite in Hanoi for bún chả, recommended here for charcoal-grilled pork served with rice vermicelli, fresh herbs, and a balanced dipping sauce." - Lana Tran

The Essential Vietnamese Restaurants in Chicago | Eater Chicago

"Up north in suburban Glenview, Buncha Hanoi dedicates itself to recipes from Vietnam’s capital. The namesake specialty, bún chả, was popularized several years ago by President Obama and Anthony Bourdain on Parts Unknown. It consists of multiple components: Grilled pork skewers and patties, rice vermicelli noodles, veggies, herbs, and a bowl of funky fish sauce to dip the ingredients in. The dish’s beautiful mélange of flavors and textures is worth a visit alone, but the menu also features items like phở and bánh mì. Online ordering is available here." - Jeffy Mai

The Bun Cha is excellent and certainly lives up to its Michelin Guide recognition. The grilled pork is expertly marinated with lemongrass (香矛) and spices, yielding a tender flavor that complements the fresh, mildly sweet dipping broth. The traditional spring rolls were perfectly crispy. While the crab spring rolls were pleasant, they did have a slight fishy aftertaste. We visited at 2:30 PM and found the restaurant uncrowded with no queue required. A notable drawback is that the upstairs dining area can be warm due to limited air conditioning. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth the visit.

Very delicious Bun Cha. The restaurant outlook may look small but I think they occupy the whole building. We climbed 3 floors to get our seats. The grilled pork and sausages are delicious. The hot chocolate is topped off with egg form making it unique but too sweet for my liking. We enjoyed the food very much both kids and adults. A lot of customers in store as well. Must be good!

One of the best Vietnamese meals I’ve had in Hanoi. The taste is extremely authentic, and the menu is something you rarely (or never) see outside Vietnam. The beauty of bún chả here is that you can adjust the flavors yourself—adding chili, garlic, and other sauces—just like locals do. The rice noodles are excellent, the soup has a very unique and memorable flavor, and the grilled pork is incredibly juicy and flavorful. The fresh vegetables are a real highlight too—the herbs are so fragrant that when everything is mixed together, the result is perfectly balanced and deeply satisfying. So good that I have to come back again before leaving Hanoi. I ordered Set 1, which includes: • Rice noodles • Soup with grilled pork • Spring rolls The spring rolls are also very tasty and a great complement to the main dish. That’s it — simple, authentic, and absolutely worth a visit when you’re in Hanoi 🇻🇳🍜

I came here in the evening on a Sunday and there was no wait. The bun cha was refreshing. My only complaint was that the pork was a bit dry and tough. Otherwise, loved my meal. The crispy spring rolls were perfectly crispy. Service was quick. Friendly for couples, groups, and solo travelers like myself :)

Their bún chả was truly authentic — the flavors exploded with every sip, and the vegetables were fresh and generously served. However, the overall ambiance held the experience back. The floor and tables felt sticky, as if they weren’t cleaned thoroughly, and the place was a bit dim, which affected the mood. Nevertheless, the food itself was memorable. I just hope they can improve the cleanliness and atmosphere, because the flavors really deserve a better setting.

It was my first time trying bun cha ta and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The pork was cooked and grilled with just enough char that it went along well with the fresh ingredients in the perilla leaves, basil, lettuce, and vermicelli noodles. We ordered two of their specials which each come with a pair of spring rolls. A special costs 120k VND. There is more seating than the main floor so do not fret, we were seated right away within the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Hope that this review can give you the nudge you need to try bun cha ta too 😊😋

The Buncha was the first meal I had in Vietnam. Such a delectable start to my restaurant hopping. I really savoured the broth and the succulent pork. Garnishings added a little something extra, but I wouldn’t have missed them considering how flavourful it was. Edit: After 5 days of eating at highly recommended restaurants we are back here again! Definitely my top pick so far

Rice noodles were amazing with generous portions. The soup that you’re supposed to dip them into was amazing as well (I believe you’re not supposed to drink the soup by itself, it’s mainly to dip your noodles into) The fried chicken rolls were delicious and crispy. My friends who opted for the pork options also commented on the crispiness and taste of the meat! Recommend the passion fruit juice! Gave a 4 star for the atmosphere as there was a slightly weird smell, maybe because we were seated a little closer to the bin. Other than that, everything was good. Will definitely visit again before I leave Vietnam!
