"Bun’d Up, the D.C.-born brand that specializes in Taiwanese steamed buns with Korean filling, will plant its flag in Maryland next week. Its latest outpost, at Asian food hall the Block in North Bethesda, is scheduled for Thursday, January 14, chef-owner Scott Chung tells Eater. The Union Market stall expanded to Northern Virginia’s Pentagon Row last year, and its North Bethesda menu will look a lot like the one in Arlington. Pillowy buns and rice bowls get filled with soy or spicy fried chicken, bulgogi, fried shrimp, pork belly, and veggies. Opening hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Sunday, for pre-order pickup online and delivery via third party apps." - Tierney Plumb

I tried the bulgogi and fried chicken buns with a side of tater tots. Each bun is $5 and the tater tots were also $5 I believe. They’re small and not filled with much protein. Sad to say I won’t be coming back.

Don't go. I got the 3 buns for $13 and it's very much NOT worth it. They're REALLY small - package was light as a feather. Bulgogi was tough. Shrimp - was ok - 2 pieces of shrimp on a tiny bun. The tofu...ugh - it tasted completely unseasoned like they opened a package, cut it off the slab, and stuck it in there with the tiniest bit of sauce. For $13 you can get a way better meal. I love bao and didn't realize how awful they could be so...thank you for that I guess? Yuck.

I tried a variety of their buns (bulgogi, tofu, spicy chicken) and only ended up liking the bulgogi. I got a side of fries (which were mediocre and a little cold) and tried their deconstructed crab rangoon item. It was awful - the crab rangoon dip looked grey and didn't taste anything like the sweet, creamy filling I'd expect. Not impressed at all by this option in the food hall.

Got the 3 Baos deal, the pork belly and 2 bulgogis. It's a disappointment. My reasons are simple, buns should be soft and fluffy regardless of the size. Meat wise...so so.. should of tried the fried chicken on the right side counter.

Ordered 3 bao buns - shrimp, beef bulgogi, and pork belly. Shrimp was the best; crispy and juicy. Bulgogi was not sliced but diced. Flavor is okay. And pork belly, not sliced but shredded. Flavor is okay. All 3 buns had too much sauce. Cucumber topping too thick for a delicate bun. Bun is dense, not fluffy. Overall buns taste too wet and difficult to hold. Ordered pork belly rice bowl. Good portion of pork but wish it was sliced, not shredded. Some bites too lean and not enough seasoning. A couple bites just fatty. Pickled onions are good. Cucumbers could use a little more salt but otherwise taste fine. Rice a little underdone. Sauce topping added nice creaminess. Note, there is a PPE 5% tax. None of the restaurants at the block, pike and rose, and places I ate in MoCo, Howard, and Frederick charged this.

Absolutely amazing. We got the brussel sprouts, tater tots, fried chicken steamed buns, and shrimp steamed buns. I wish we didn't inhale it so fast so we could have enjoyed it a little more, but it was too good. I would get everyone again, hands down.

I came here for their promotion as it was described on social media. To celebrate their one year anniversary, they said first 10 customers were to get a hat with their logo. Cute hats btw. The post mentioned no purchase or stipulations or conditions to get one. The young man at the counter was told by owner that one had to make a $50 purchase to get a hat. Smh. The young man called the owner and after some going back and forth, I was able to get the hat. I did purchase the wonton as trips with crabmeat which to my dismay, was not good. Too much cream cheese and barely any crab meat. The wonton strips were overcooked and folded over. Based on My experience, I seriously doubt I will return. Falsely advertising too get likes on social media or to lure customers to their establishment is not professional. Ive tried reaching out them, they never messaged me back.

The bulgogi beef is not even its diced steak bulgogi is supposed to be thin slice. And it just had too many toppings on it. I’ve had much better bao buns then this. Disappointed
