"Housemade pastas, reasonable prices, and a cozy atmosphere have made Buona Terra the kind of family-run trattoria that every neighborhood needs. On Thursdays, the $28 three-course prix fixe includes the choice of any appetizer, entrée, and dessert on the menu. It’s a steal for bargain hunters and Italian food lovers alike." - Jeffy Mai

First try after hearing a few people say this place was great, and I am so happy we tried it!! The start of the meal with warm bread and a delicious garlic pesto is mouth watering. Overall, all of our dishes were SO Delicious! Excellent, fresh homemade pasta cooked Al Dente. I recommend trying the grilled calamari - so much flavor and cooked perfectly. I would come back for the Ciacio e Pepe again (which my husband ordered) and I had the corkscrew pasta with Parmesan cream, peas, prosciutto and mushrooms. Also very delicious! My friend tried the special with butternut squash and shrimp scampi- the shrimp was giant and so fresh! Cooked perfectly. Only thing i would say is get there early, we arrived at 5pm and by 5:15 every single table was taken! The restaurant gets very loud also. Service was very friendly and food came out quickly without feeling rushed. Desserts were also wonderful- I’d you have room left!

This is one of my favorite spots in the city. I love so many of the dishes here. The calamari, the Green Goddess Pizza, all the pastas. It's a reliable stand-by but also a lovely treat each and every time. They make great martinis as a bonus. And the wine list is perfect.

I loved this place!!. Miguel, our server, was attentive and helpful throughout our entire dining experience and recommended a fabulous wine pairing with our dishes. The food was exquisite. I had the sausage pizza and Bucatini pasta. I cannot recommend this place enough clean and romantic setting all throughout!

Lucky to have this gem in the neighborhood. I've had dinner here three times now in the last few months and each time has been really delicious! Tried different dishes and pizzas each time though the fried Calamari is a must! The pizzas are crisp yet chewy and are topped just right not too much sauce or cheese with fresh and flavorful toppings. The rigatoni is excellent and I love the garlic dip they serve with their fresh baked bread for the table. Friendly service and casual neighborhood feels with plenty of regulars chatting away at the bar all contribute to a welcoming environment. I'll keep coming back and trying other dishes!

This was such a pleasant surprise/hidden gem for the neighborhood. The whole meal was amazing, portions were good and the flavors were on point. I would rather come here than deal with the hassle of going to the west loop or river north where I usually aim for date nights; that’s how good it was! Service was great and they even gave us the most amazing cheesy soft chewy hot out of the pizza oven bread on the house when we asked for extra bread to sop up the sauce in the mussels.

I had dinner at Buona Terra for my first time tonight. They started by serving complimentary warm bread with a garlic spread. For my main course, I had the arrabbiata pasta which was served piping hot and had a nice spicy kick. I also tried the house-made tiramisu, which was surprisingly light and fluffy. The only downside was that I wish they had some house-made pastas on the menu.

They were one block away from our house, when they first opened up. Date night was a breeze :walk over and enjoy a great meal. Actually they were across the street when they opened., on the 25 hundred block north on California Ave. We later moved a block away. They are now at their previous location of Hearth and crust. On Irving Park, road.. their food is a staple in our household. Their food is phenomenal, they have a really good wine list (reasonable) and everything they offer is top of the line in regards to flavor, taste and deliciousness. I hope they add their veal dishes (back) so I can indulge. If you have not been there : you are missing out. Keep going Illene and Chepe.
