Yelp
Boutique burger joints are about as common as strip-mall micro breweries these days. They are everywhere. It's seems like social media posts a "best burgers in ........" article every other day. IMO, that equates to a good amount of above average burgers, but few that actually stand out. Burger Antics in Brookfield Illinois stands out. Tucked away in a little corner of the somewhat chic downtown area, Burger Antics has been dishing out delicious burgers with handmade condiments for a few years now. I've been there many times in the past, but this was my first time back since I became "elite", and I'm trying to step-up my review game... Lol! The establishment is super trendy... And only seats probably 40 people or so. Expect to wait on weekends because this has become a spot that people are now traveling to get to. However, what's really great is that they have never lost that neighborhood restaurant vibe. Our waitress Izzy was absolutely fantastic. Warm and friendly, she knew the menu like the back of her hand, and as we were sitting there, many local patrons came up to her and hugged her... Engaging in light conversation - asking about how she's been doing. A true sign that Burger Antics has woven itself into the neighborhood fabric. The only way that an establishment such as this one gets to be this popular is by delivering above average food consistently. I will tell you that the burgers, fries, mac & cheese, and appetizers at this place are all fantastic. The craft beer menu is modest, but features many local brews, and the crafted cocktails are also a very good. We were seated
outside in front of the establishment on this visit - and the weather was perfect. I had a Pilsner from Miskatonic Brewery in Darien, IL and it was a perfect complement to the breezy, sunny evening. My wife had their take on a Paloma and she said it was a cut above. For our meals, my 16-year-old daughter had the mac & cheese, and as usual, it did not disappoint. My wife opted for a goat cheese marinara appetizer special as her meal. They served it with toasted pretzel sticks, and it was warm and delicious - with just enough seasoning to give it a little kick. I went with the Midland Burger on this trip - medium rare - with their house-made chips. Their burger patties are always cooked perfectly, and the flavor of the patty itself is top-notch. The Midland featured a house made Dijon mustard, English cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and pickle chips. It should be noted that Burger Antics makes their condiments from scratch. They are wonderful. If you roll-up looking for some Heinz ketchup, keep rolling brother, but you will not know what you're missing. Burger Antics makes sure they take extra special care of ALL parts of your meal, and it shows. If you're looking for an epic burger, and you don't want to fight the traffic and hassle of going into the city, this is my go-to spot!!
