Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings - Seattle - The Infatuation

"In the former Zippy’s space in White Center, there’s now a Star Wars-inspired burger spot complete with vintage arcade games and baskets of tater tots that they call asteroid spuds. At this former food truck’s permanent outpost, you’ll find silly on-theme names of dishes, like a bacon-topped "Nebula" chicken sandwich, and a “Kamakazie” burger with grilled pineapple, teriyaki sauce, and fried onions." - Kayla Sager Riley

13 Wonderful Restaurants in White Center

"This fast food spot serves burgers with a side of nostalgia, from the 1960s-era advertising lining the walls to the retro toys on display in the shop. The classic burger here is incredibly juicy and always a good bet, but Rae’s Hell — a patty with Mama Lil’s hot relish, a hot link, cheddar, and red onion — is perfect if you’re looking for a little spice. If that’s not hot enough for you, the special no.11 burger, made with Mama Lil’s Kick Butt Peppers and Monterey jack, is truly fiery." - Jenise Silva

This is a GREAT lil' burger joint! It has a sort of "Star Wars" theme - along with about 7 or 8 different pin-ball games (including Pac-Man & Street Fighter)! 😁 The food was EXCELLENT! It doesn't have a huge menu, but it covers the basics. Very friendly & attentive staff. Overall FUN & comfortable environment, & reasonable prices.

Fun burger spot that’s ideal for hangouts and watching sports. Friendly staff and plenty of space to play games, drink beer, and enjoy good eats. Tots and onion rings are sprinkled with Tajin, so you get a citric crispiness. The Burger Planet Classic has an almost Asian twist to it; perhaps it’s the garlic grill mayo and potentially soy sauce added to the wagyu beef patty. Even the pickles are unique. We wanted to order the churros, but given we arrived close to closing time, they had run out. They were generous enough to give us one churro (1/2 an order) for free.

Update: I eat here often with my family and still experience great quality burgers and tots! You should definitely try them out! I know everyone loves certain burgers, so to each their own. This was my first time here so I went with a basic burger I think was called the drive in. Burger was great, moist, flavorful, not greasy. I was happy the brioche bun was not huge and overpowering the meat, although it is slightly sweet because it is brioche. I am not a fan of giant buns. I was not disappointed with the bun to meat ratio. Tater tots were nice and crispy, some sort of citrus seasoning on top. I had a Mexican chocolate shake that was good. Nice staff. Really happy they have compostable to go containers. Pricing seems on point with most Burger places like shake shack and coastline etc but not like boss burger, more expensive than boss burger Took one star off because they still have plastic cups, straws and spoons. I will be back to dine in with my family, I like how they had 3 tvs showing sports games and a surround sound so you can actually hear the game on TV. There is a small arcade area and that should keep my kids busy.

Marco is a passionate owner who really cares about the customer’s experience. The staff is extremely friendly and love what they do! Very creative menu items and burgers. Best place in seattle to just hang out grab a beer, eat food with friends and play some arcade!

This place is pretty chill. We went for the grinch but stayed for the arcade and food! Love star wars. Got some cute little decor. The only gripe being that it's way over priced but I guess thats seattle. $70 for 3 burgers (one being a childrens) with fries is insane to me. That's hotel or casino pricing. But it was good nonetheless. Old school Pacman machine and star wars pinball machines actually work.

This is the old Zippy's location and I really love ❤️ what the new owners did to the place! They opened it up more and they have a really good outdoor seating area. The food is fresh and delicious 😋 Also they have good beer 🍺 on tap!

Google
I got the Burger Planet Classic burger that comes with Tater Tots and free glass of water. The crispiness was perfect for the tots, the burger was medium rare. plus the tots were served up in a cute basket. Everything was amazing, I do feel like it’s a bit sterile due to the beige wall paint, but all in all a fun place to go for a high quality burger.

Google
This review is for the food truck. Prices have gotten out of control. Used to be able to get a drive in with spuds for $11+ tax/tip. Now it's $12 for just the burger and an extra 2 for a side. I get the veggie patty so it's another $1. Veggie drive in should be $13+ 11% tax = $14.3 but I'm charged for $15.40... Where did that extra dollar come from? There's just a hidden pretax dollar in there. Over a year ago I ordered and the price was a dollar higher too and I asked about it and they just said oh the menu is wrong. Then fix the menu? Don't lie about the price? I wonder if that's what happened today too. Food quality went downhill. I used to think it was a little expensive but the burger was great. Today it was pretty flavorless while also overly salty, and the bun had a plasticky taste. The veggie patty is really mushy and pink to the point of resembling raw beef, it had a bland mildly burnt flavor. Also, all the other burgers have interesting toppings and their price is driven by the protein (tuna, 1/3lb waygu etc) so why is the veggie patty always an upcharge? There's no way a veggie patty is more expensive that waygu and bacon together.

Yelp
I enjoy this spot, but I noticed some weird pricing. The first time I ordered the craft burger and tots, it was $17.4something, but on my next visit, just the burger cost me $20. The menu shows prices, so I'm confused about the inconsistency. If they want to protect those pricey action figures and models, why not put them in glass cases? It would help keep the charm of the place intact. It just seems like they're really trying to squeeze every dollar since they're a new restaurant.

Yelp
One of the more unique burger places I've been to, tried both of their Korean themed burgers when they were available one month, and am looking forward to trying some more next time I come through. Also enjoyed some of the drinks they had on tap while waiting, will for sure be back!

Yelp
I've been meaning to check this place out since it opened! My toddler and I headed over and were *delighted* by the fun decor and even a toddler-friendly connect 4. The staff and owner were welcoming and kind. The menu has a lot of variety but isn't overwhelming. I tried the first burger on the menu and it was unique and delicious. I'm grateful that the kiddo can pick a hot dog if he's not feeling burgers. Next time I'm going to ask them to hold off on seasoning the tater tots for the toddler, but he was really happy with his burger (a miracle) and we'll definitely go back.

Yelp
In short A popular food truck makes the leap (to hyperspace) and opens a bricks-and-mortar location with vintage arcade games, pinball, and a sweet Star Wars theme to the decor. In long These guys have worked together for years. One of them went off on his own and started BP as a food truck a few years ago, and now they've gotten the band back together as business partners. They took over the old Zippy's location in Rat City and today was their grand opening. They're already running smooth as silk. There's a decent amount of parking here, and plenty of space inside. Huge hyperspace mural facing the door--that's the strobe effect when the Millennium Falcon accelerates in the Star Wars movies. Next to that is a noren (Japanese door curtain) with X-wings chasing TIE Fighters out of the setting of two big red suns. Two suns? Must be Tatooine. There's lots of table seating and some highboy seating at converted old oaken barrels. There's a big beer bar across the dining room, and an order station for food. A dozen nice beers on tap. Let's pressure these guys to order some cool BP-branded craft beer glassware, shall we? There's another dining room around the corner, where the Star Wars (and Seahawks and Kraken) decor continue. There's also Ms Pac-Man, some other vintage arcade games, and at least two Star Wars pinball machines. This place is definitely welcoming my geeky soul home with open arms. And, yeah, burgers. Let's not forget those. It's a really interesting menu, starting with classic cheeseburgers, multiple topping variations, pork belly, and other goodness. Then there's a parallel list of chicken sandwiches, which I'll have to check out next time. There's a kids' menu, and there certainly were multiple father-son and other parent-offspring groups around us this afternoon. They serve pop for the kids, and the dining rooms are all ages. Burgers We checked out the Classic with cheddar, and the Carne Asada burger. We traded halves, and I thought the Carne burger would spoil me not only for the next half I ate, but for all burgers for a while, but the Classic more than held its own. The Classic was cooked to a perfect medium, the carne was more grilled through (also perfect). Sides Onion rings are great--flavorful, crunchy batter cooked fully through without a drop of oil lingering. I could go a little thicker on the onion slices inside but these are already just about the best rings I've had. Loaded tots are ridiculous. The same old familiar tater tots we've all had a million times, except with queso and salsa fresca on top. Delicious and fully satisfying. We shoulda stayed and played some pin, but instead we hurried home to watch the games tonight. I love this spot and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We had been waiting for Burger Planet to open when we found out something was thankfully going to fill the old Zippy's space. I am sure some would fight me on the opinion that BP is even better than their predecessor. My Drive-In burger was perfectly cooked. The patty, toppings and bun all maintained their integrity until the last bite. I appreciate a burger that isn't dripping and falling apart! I loved their giant, crunchy rings, and we upgraded from tots to fries, which were crunchy and not greasy. Unfortunately they weren't taking online orders, so the Spouse went to get the food, which was surprisingly quick. He reported back that it had the same funky vibe it's always had, plus pinball, which neither of us remembered from Zippy's. There is no shortage of burgers in this area, but Burger Planet is currently my first choice.

Yelp
We loved Burger Planet and wish we had tried it sooner! The burger was fantastic, and the meat was cooked medium/medium rare--perfect! The tots COME WITH the burger. They are crispy and delicious! They have six or so choices of sauces for the Tots (also free). They have beer and wine, which is nice, plus outdoor seating. They have remodeled the place; It's clean and modern! Service was friendly and efficient. And they grill the bun! I always wondered why Zippy's came on a cold bun:) Awesome Burger Place!

Yelp
I really wanted to like their burgers, but they didn't come through. Especially when considering that they replaced Zippys, and that Loretta's is just down the hill. The burgers themselves were overly smoky and peppery, and the cheese wasn't melty enough. The fries were good, and the people were really friendly, but that's not enough. Overall, the price point doesn't match the product.

Yelp
Burger planet was a welcome return of a place to get homestyle burgers after Zippy's closed in White Center. The staff is welcoming, eager to serve, and happy that you came in to eat. The place is quiet, clean, and still has the old video games from the previous owner. I had the atomic fire chicken burger and fries. The burger is described as crispy chicken, spicy mayo, pepper, jack cheese, butter lettuce, tomato, and onion on a brioche bun. The description was enticing as I love spicy food. However, the actual burger is a piece of spongy meat, covered in a breading, that at one point sometime this year, was fried. It was served cold to lukewarm with the pepper jack cheese barely melted to give the illusion that it had been prepared as it had been ordered. It is a special moment to bite into rubber expecting chicken. The spicy mayo is in name only, a tactic to lure you in only to be as disappointed as a child who receives a handful of dirt and a lima bean at Christmas . The fries were coated with something that can only be described in a laboratory after testing. Burger Planet had no idea the shoes they were filling when they assumed the same location as Zippy burgers. My son had one of their hamburgers and describe the texture of the burger as "oddly" one of a kind and felt there was something "off" about the burger. It is clear that they need to remove these burgers from this planet, or phone ET to help figure out the problem, and then return when they can produce a homestyle burger that is worth the cost that they charge and fills customers with the anticipation of waiting for them to open to get another burger. Right now all I want to do is run and hope they close. There goes $45 down the drain!

Yelp
I'm sorry to write this 2-star review, but I write this in hopes that it is constructive feedback for the business. Frankly should be one star, but I want to see a new business in White Center succeed. This is just not how you do it. I would love to update this review in the future once it's more established. We ordered two burgers a chicken sandwich, and upgraded sides. We waited thirty minutes for our takeout order which was fine--I understand it's a new business trying to sort their processes out. Once we finally received our order, it was completely wrong, missing two items and an incorrect item. Once we received our corrected order, to my disappointment, the chicken sandwich was a chicken patty similar to a cafeteria style chicken sandwich. Everything was cold. French fries are a dollar extra despite seemingly from the frozen aisle. Chicken sandwich and all the sides were overpriced for the quality that you're getting. Burgers were fine but there are other burger businesses in the area for better quality and price. If you want to come in to support this business like we did, just know to level set your expectations for questionably high prices, nice service, and mediocre chicken and sides. We'll be back to give it another chance, so I hope your experience is not the same as ours.

Yelp
We had our first visit today and it was a lot of fun. Burgers: fresh and well cooked. The brioche bun was too sweet for me, so not a home run, but still very good. Tots: yum! Cooked perfectly and the seasoning was delicious. Service: patient and friendly. Games: most if not all of the Zippys arcade games are there (not sure about the frogger) PLUS they had a built-in game table and we played Yahtzee. Super fun and I loved that it didn't take any quarters. Vibe: it's a Star Wars feel and they did a great job. We will be back! I am going to scope out their bun alternatives next time.

Yelp
I went back and got the Kanak Burger with my friend. This burger is a little bit too salty. The loaded taters were really good.

Yelp
So just went to Burger Planet. Food is awesome staff is awesome. Ya can't beat all the Starwars stuff they have. Had the Fungus Among us and it was spot on. Nice juicy burger and some crispy totts. Definitely will be going back. Everyone should show this local small business some love and give them a try. Nice little arcade with 3 starwars pinball tablets

Sammie O.

Yelp
While the service was great, the food was not what we expected. Got 3 Drive in burgers, 1 with bacon no onion, all with ketchup instead of burger sauce. The patty was not fully cooked. The pickles were very spicy and too thick. The tots were spicy and sour. I wish there was more warning for fist time customers, but i did appreciate the biodegradable boxes.

Janis P.

Yelp
I'm so sorry but what i had along with my husband there was such a weird taste my husband thought it was the pickles I thought it was the Mayo. I hope we don't get sick. Maybe this is normal but we did not like it.

Sami B S.

Yelp
Damn... one of the best burgers I've ever had!!!! I had the Carne Asada, my friend got the Fungus Among Us. The latter was out of this world!

Leigh K.

Yelp
I hope they are successful. We need more good food options in White Center. First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Food: We ordered the Classic burger. Took one bite and realized it was way too red inside and had no desire to eat it. The pickles were great though. The Gunga fish burger included a very nice size piece of fish. It was very juicy but so much that I couldn't pick it up in the buns and eat it. I used a fork and knife and enjoyed the fish but tossed out the bun. I'd rather have moist fish over a piece of overcooked dry fish so kudos for the cooking of the fish. Onion rings are ok. The asteroid spuds are nothing more than flavored tator tots. I'm sure, and hope, they pull it together and make a great run in White Center. I'm sure they will also do some work on their website. For now, we'll wait a few months before going back. We want them to be successful!

Yelp
Ate here with our family of 4 (2 young kids) on a weeknight. Not too long of a wait for food and the kids were entertained with family friendly movies on the tv. Kids woofed down the kids hot dog and burger. Drive in burger was delicious (but a little salty). Veggie burger was twelve thumbs down. Resembled a mochi taro patty (in color, texture, and sweetness). Just offer a commercially available plant based patty to sub. Tots had a vinegar/lime taste to them that could have been toned now. Were cold on deliver. The ambiance is sterile as another review described. May come back for take out (Drive In burger!) but would sub plain tots or get fries and would not get food for the rest of the fam.

Pamela K.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. I got the mahi mahi burger and it had amazing flavor. The tots were perfectly crispy with a delicious seasoning on them (similar to tajin seasoning I think). Great craft beer selection, and I loved their Star Wars theme decor. Seems that Yelp has their hours wrong, because it says they open at 3pm, but we were there around 1pm and they were open.

Lauren P.

Yelp
Best new burgers in town! We stopped by to check out the burgers and they did not disappoint. They had a good selection of beers as well! The ambiance was fun with the Star Wars themed decor and the small arcade. Super friendly staff as well. We are excited to come back very soon!

Michael G.

Yelp
Solid burger option. Got a chance to check them out for the first time the other night and left very happy. Good peeps, fun decor and a great burger. Not inexpensive but a quality product cooked by kind folks that know what they're doing.
