"Anyone familiar with Japan and with the challenges faced when setting up a restaurant, will appreciate the complexities posed by Buri Omakase, where you have to ring the bell to property 002 in a small office block, and are then escorted by lift up to the authentically decorated dining room with seating for just 10 guests. There’s just one sitting (which starts at 8.30pm), so make sure you arrive on time to avoid unwelcome glances from other diners! Here, the owner-chef is inspired more by the traditions of Kyoto rather than Edomae, hence the prevalence of dishes prior to the nigiri courses, including an excellent miso soup and a creamy “chawanmushi”. For the nigiri, this chef uses high-quality local fish caught by trusted fishermen, while the rice is the Koshihikari variety from Niigata, famous for its excellent quality. As tradition dictates, the chef starts with fish with a gentle flavour, which then gradually intensifies through the course of the meal. An authentic experience in every sense!" - Michelin Inspector

Argentina: Restaurants Tucked Away in Buenos Aires

"Tucked in a secretive off-street spot with just 10 seats, I settled into Marcello El’s MICHELIN-recommended, 15-course omakase presented in three moments: opening plates like Tartare of Wagyu beef, Carpaccio of langoustine, and Curried mussels; then sashimi of amberjack, mackerel or sole; and finally nigiri such as red mullet or bluefish topped with grated fresh ginger. What sets it apart is the strict devotion to fresh Argentine fish sourced only from trusted fishermen in Mar del Plata and other Atlantic ports, which sharpens the focus and heightens the immersion." - The MICHELIN Guide

The service is top notch. From the moment you walk in, you feel treated like a guest in someone’s home. Drinks to begin and then on to the dining area. Marcello is the absolute best. He’s interactive and funny, and amazing at what he does. Every dish was amazing and fresh. I could seriously see this becoming a 1-2 times a month type of plan for me. It’s also somewhere you can go alone or with a friend, and I can assure you’ll have conversation with everyone around you. Drinks were also great! Amazing attention to detail.

We were excited to try this restaurant and, at first, it really impressed us. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was lovely—the bar was beautifully built, the lighting was second to none, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was also a highlight in the beginning: the staff was attentive and helpful right as we stepped through the door. The experience started strong with a beautifully crafted drink and a few creative, well-presented dishes that raised our expectations. As the meal progressed, it became clear that the menu was hyper-focused on raw white fish. While the quality remained good, the flavor profiles and presentations became somewhat repetitive for our personal tastes, with minimal variation in preparation or seasoning. That said, the team treated us with great care throughout, and we truly appreciated the hospitality. If you’re someone who’s deeply into local raw white fish, especially sashimi-style dishes, this could be a perfect fit. It just wasn’t quite aligned with what we personally enjoy.

Best Omakase sushi bar in Buenos Aires, period. I will elaborate further, I went to all the michelin star sushi recomendations during a trip to Buenos Aires, some were omakase others were not, this one is the best sushi I have tried and had a beautiful atmosphere aswell, the owner and master sushiman is a super relatable and talkative person, he explains everything in detail, and I believe it has the freshest fish in the market, a big plus is also the Bar which you can go before or after eating, best cocktails in town and an atmosphere that resembles a premium hidden tokyo bar like you see in the movies, from the moment you step in the restaurant it feels like you are transported to japan, I will seriously consider going there for the full experience

Buri is the perfect omakase experience for sushi lovers. The food, service and atmosphere are fantastic. The variety of fish and seafood is like no other place is Buenos Aires. The chef, Marcello, has a great knowledge of Japanese techniques and this is reflected on the food and flavors. Best sushi in Argentina without a doubt. Highly recommend!

We ate at the "Lado B" side of Buri - more of a modern, chic and intimate bar experience over the traditional side. Zero regrets. We arrived early and on a night where it was storming so we had the gorgeous atmosphere to ourselves. Every course absolutely blew my mind. This almost verged on an emotional experience! The bartender crafted incredible cocktails, perfectly tailored to our tastes. The chef prepared the most incredible 7 course meal that I can remember. Ever. Flavor profiles that elevated every base ingredient to insane heights!!! If you have the time, come here. If you don't have the time, make the time - seriously, I cannot recommend this place high enough!!

Absolutely amazing food, service, and experience! From when we stepped into this hidden, quaint space to when we left everything was amazing. All the courses where delicious and unique, the service was on point, oh and the FISH! So so fresh... Stuffed is an understatement. Glad we were able to get a last minute reservation here. If you are in BA definitely visit here for the Omakase experience!

Marchello opened a insanely beautiful place with incredible food. Reminded me a lot of my many times in Japan. He is a funny host and takes care well of his guests. I can highly recommend this place:)

Our experience at Buri Omakase was quite positive. The restaurant had a very cozy ambiance that added to the overall dining experience. The food was enjoyable, but there was one notable difference compared to other omakase experiences I've had in different countries: most of the dishes came from the kitchen rather than being prepared by the chef in front of us. The meal began with a delicious miso soup and concluded with a satisfying sesame ice cream. However, it would have been a nice touch to offer Udon or Soba as an additional course to ensure that the meal felt complete, as the portion size left us wanting a bit more. Despite this, the overall atmosphere and flavors at Buri Omakase made it a worthwhile dining experience, and I would recommend it for those seeking a cozy and enjoyable meal.
