The 17 Best NYC Coffee Shops With Wifi For Getting Work Done - New York - The Infatuation

"Burly Coffee has three locations in Bed-Stuy and, for some reason, the one on Throop doesn’t get as crowded as the others. There are some cafe tables in the front, and two long tables in the back with plenty of outlets. King David breakfast tacos and donuts from Dough are on hand, along with the excellent coffee, and house-made breakfast items on weekends. Burly’s newest location on Atlantic is a bigger, brighter, modernized space, but we like the local, personal feel of this one more. " - Neha Talreja, Nikko Duren, Carina Finn Koeppicus

Google
The coffee here is wonderful! Dark, rich, and chocolatey. A few vegan options are available but not a whole lot to eat in general. Bright, trendy, modern.

Google
Great music! & coffee. Good place to come and get some work done or catch up with friends. The baristas are really nice and friendly. 🎀💗☕️

Google
A very good place with a variety of food, drinks. I wish the kitchen was open during the week because their sandwiches are killer! Super friendly baristas too, Anderson is the sweetest!

Google
A chic coffee spot in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. They have free wifi and limited seating - thus, the place is oftentimes crowded and it is sometimes unlikely to find a spot. The staff is really nice and friendly. Would highly recommend for a quick coffee and breakfast. They have a small yet good selection of food! I tried the goat cheese arugula croissant with an oat mocha.

Joe Cozza

Google
Delicious Canadian Bacon sammie! And hot sauce not too bad either :) howd you get the eggs to stay in a pattie like that?! Seating in the corner feels a bit off, but the grub and matcha make up for it! Will be back for the maple latte!

SM C

Google
A typical Brooklyn coffee spot. Great place to get some work done. Good coffee and great Nutella banana toast.

Google
Cute place! Fantastic breakfast sandwiches...fluffy eggs and that housemade hot sauce is yumyumyum!!

Yelp
Wow I love this place! Perfect place to read on a weekend morning, to catch up with a friend, or get some work done in a sun filled room with great coffee. We got 2 cappuccinos, a chocolate croissant and this roll pastry, both of which were flaky and tasted good. I've been searching for sunny coffee shops and this one was also nice and quiet! Not sure if there's WiFi, which would make it perfect, but did see something working on there laptop. They also have a bathroom!

Yelp
Came here awhile back to meet up A for a quick chit chat and got myself a cappuccino and I thought it was solid. I didn't try anything else, but I thought it was a cute coffee place.

Yelp
7.65$ for a normal whole milk latte is a bit excessive. Cashier seems a bit unpleasant but could just be the day.

Peter D.

Yelp
the......."woman" that works the register, red-head, wears cheap glasses, was outrageously rude as well as the spanish fellow. TWO THUMBS DOWN! HATED GOING THERE! NEXT TIME i will simply go to BROOKLYN BLEND AROUND THE CORNER.

Camille V.

Yelp
Average coffee. Average croissant. Nice baristas, clean room. That's all I really have to say.

Timothy M.

Yelp
Great experience while visiting from the west coast! Delicious coffee, great staff, and positive vibes.

Yelp
Came here for a relaxing reading atmosphere, and mission was accomplished :) The cafe is spacious and well lit with large windows. Good for working (as I saw others on their laptops) or reading. I ordered the matcha latte which was solid. Matcha-y and foamy. My partner ordered a plain black coffee, and noted that the taste was just ok, with a bit of a burnt taste. Overall, good place to plant your butt on a bench for a time and soak up some java. (Also, be sure to arrive BEFORE 2pm so the kitchen can serve you food. Otherwise you will have to drink your lunch/snack. )

Yelp
My first impression of Burly Coffee: I loved the interior art displays in the cafe, I thought that was really cool. I ordered an iced oat latte with honey... I feel the espresso wasn't very strong or it could've just been overpowered by the oat milk- either way it probably wasn't strong. Aside from, the barista was nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing cafe. Really warm hospitality meets uniquely delicious coffee. The shop has great vibes and is doing it right. Burly's coffees are dialed-in by their in-house roastmaster and they keep everything inside neat, clean and at a high standard. This place has a great reputation around Brooklyn and its no wonder why... a must visit, chat with the friendly folks behind bar, grab yourself a nice coffee and make it part of your go-to list!

Yelp
This place is a really cool little gem of a place. I got a simple iced coffee with light caramel pumps. I threw some creamer in there and called it a day. They have many croissant varieties to choose from. They make them fresh each morning (YUMMMMM!!!), so I had just a plain butter croissant. It was really good- very fluffy & moist. When I think of a coffee shop in Brooklyn, this is the type of place I imagine. Great spot to stop if you're in the area needing coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
If you want a good coffee at acceptable price, this is the place for you. I personally liked everything, especially the interior, cozy.
google avatar

Hana S.

Yelp
Not the cheapest cup of coffee but their almond lattes are tasty. Even though we can make coffee at home my husband and I sometimes take a weekend stroll over here to pick something up, and always end up getting a baked good or two. Their scones & waffle are tasty -- highly recommend! They sell savory baked goods and bags of coffee as well.

Jadie E.

Yelp
Consistently excellent coffee, friendly staff. Good neighborhood spot full of regulars.

Yelp
How are there no Ctwn references lol 5 stars get the chocolate croissant or a blueberry muffin
google avatar

Sheynelle S.

Yelp
This is a decent sized coffee shop in BedStuy. People definitely come here to get work done on their laptops (they have WiFi) The prices for the food and the delicious coffee are great. I ordered a cappuccino and the Canadian bacon, egg and cheese with chive and parsley butter. It's yummy although it took quite a while to come out of the kitchen. The next time I'm in Bed Stuy I'll definitely head here for breakfast or a quick coffee!

Yelp
I recently moved a bit farther up the neighborhood so I don't come to Burly's as often as I used to but I made the trek down since my wifi hasn't been set up yet haha. I think in terms of atmosphere where you can chill and get work done, Burly's wins out of all the other coffee shops in the neighborhood. There's a lot of space with tables and outlets that you can set up a laptop. It's very comfortable and you don't feel rushed. The music is loud but all the music falls under the chill coffee shop sound track vibe so it's not overbearing. I got a oat milk latte for here. The coffee is good and they have a stamp card of you plan on coming here multiple times. They also serve food as well as some pastries if you're lucky to snag them before they sell out. Also don't forget Burly's does have a $5 minimum credit card charge so if you pretty much order anything other than a latte or a customized cappuccino, be prepared to have some cash on hand.
google avatar

Tommi A.

Yelp
They are serving drinks and pastries through a large open window so you can walk up and order. I chose a Chai tea latte with oatmilk which wasn't the best I've had in the neighborhood- I thought the oatmilk wasn't froathy enough and the flavor wasn't as rich as I had hoped; however, the barista was super super nice- so maybe next time I'll try something different!
google avatar

Ursula J.

Yelp
not even the type of person to make reviews but a pumpkin spice latte being 8.17 for it to taste watered down...and the pumpkin spice flavor had a rubbing alcohol flair...and when I asked the barista if they had any specialty drinks they slowly and condescendingly listed all the flavors they have (written on the board right behind her idk if she thought I couldn't read or didn't know what flavors were or something). Overall pretty mid n overpriced but id probably come back for some gritty drip if it's too cold to walk to Botani tbh
google avatar

Kateria N.

Yelp
I like them but I feel like my feedback is being completely ignored. After two years of begging for vegan items in the pastry case...nothing but the classic vegan treat in a sad jar next to the delicious looking but animal protein filled donuts, cakes and pastries in the case. Sad. They make a good oat chai latte. It saves them in my mind and the WiFi of course. They do have one item in the board that I order ALL THE TIME (cuz it's the only thing on the board I can eat). It's the almond butter toast. I don't get it. They order other stuff from Ovenly but they can't bring themselves to order the delicious vegan options I know Ovenly bakes. It's almost like they are doing the least (versus the most) for vegans when it comes to eating here. Again. Sad. *searches for Ovenly after writing this post wondering if they have a place I can visit instead*

Yelp
Such an adorable place with friendly staff I am not a huge coffee drinker but enjoyed an iced latte. I have gone a few times when I need to get out and want to have a nice walk. When the weather is nice I take my drink to Herbert Von King park
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
If you like your espresso just thrown in a cup with milk and thrown at you, this is the place for you. The baristas have terrible attitudes like they're too cool to be there. The only one who has any manners is the Asian guy. Seven dollars for a cup of coffee I rather go to a corner store and just mix the coffee and milk up myself. It would probably taste better! Not coming back, there are way better coffee shops with friendly baristas and great espresso!
google avatar

Suzanne H.

Yelp
I love this cozy little coffee shop with awesome coffee and great service! A gem in Bed-Stuy.

Diego S.

Yelp
Good coffee but they have the RUDEST cashier i have ever met, this is what holds back the place since the place is nice to work at but wow I've never met anyone as miserable as the woman working here.
google avatar

Demetrius R.

Yelp
One of the best cups of JOE in Brooklyn. This little gem is tucked away in Bed Stuy up and coming Dekalb shops! Great staff, nice atmosphere and awesome pastries! Best part of waking up!
google avatar

Kev A.

Yelp
A solid group of charming and informative baristas here. Bro who shakes the lattes when he has the time is a saint. My experience here has been nothing less than awesome don't forget to grab a punch card for a free drink.
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
Great coffee and a fantastic assortment of books that are fairly priced. I will definitely be coming back to this amazing establishment!

Yelp
Dear God, what did I do to deserve Burly? This place is downright adorable and perfect. Bed Stuy can be a hard place to find a decent Almond Milk latte... but Burly has solved all of my problems and made my mornings a cake walk. I honestly come here every. damn. morning. (Okay, I lied.) But I come here almost every morning. The staff is adorable, so approachable and we have the sickest conversations. The atmosphere is quiet, inviting and looks great for an Instagram picture. They have local art on the walls and fun wood paneled walls. They also have Dough donuts because they actually care about you. They also have these really amazing, like, gourmet pop tarts or something? I'm not really sure, but I've spoiled my diet plenty of times for them. I'm a huge connoisseur of coffee. Well, actually, I just like coffee a lot. Can't say I know that much about it. Maybe I'll put that on my bucket list for 2017... learn more about coffee... but I do know that I really enjoy the espresso at Burly. The espresso drinks here are my reward to myself when I finally sit my ass down and write a few pages or if I mop my apartment or if I do anything less than extraordinary but worthy of a treat. They recently started carrying oat milk as well, which is like almond milk, but with oats. Who knew? My one criticism is I have to walk a few blocks to get there and sometimes I feel like being a lazy piece of shit. If Burly could figure out a way to just run an IV drip along Throop avenue to Willoughby, maybe they would be the most perfect spot in Brooklyn. Who am I kidding? It already is. Can you tell I love this place? Thank you Burly!

Yelp
Still open during COVID but helps to know whether indoor seating is available or not. Takeout only FYI.
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
Yes yes yes. Get in there!!! From NZ I try and find the closest thing to a flat white and this was a delicious oat cappuccino .
google avatar

Maggie G.

Yelp
Great almond milk latte (one of the best I've ever had) and very personable barista. Highly recommend Burly Coffee.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I love this place! It's a few blocks from my apartment, so I usually stop in on the weekends for a drink when I'm not working. The staff is always super nice!! Also I love that they have tip jars that you can vote on whatever they have that day. Also, they serve dough doughnuts which are huge! Hibiscus is where it's at:)
google avatar

Chad J.

Yelp
I frequent this place again and again!!! The vibe here puts me in a good mood as soon as I step foot inside. People of all walks of life just chilling, socializing and enjoying coffee and tea. Love it !!

Jamie H.

Yelp
Bravo for providing good service, being able to stay regulated, and professional even with rude individuals have tantrums in front of your coffee shop! Major props to the young woman!

Angie B.

Yelp
Used to love this place. My last 2 visits, 2 different baristas, they were both unfriendly and cold. Not even a greeting. I ordered a latte this past Tuesday, and half way home I thought" Bro I hope this dude didn't use his old bodega coffee cup for my latte". I know the usual is a white cup with a stamped "Burly" logo, but I looked down and it was a bodega coffee cup. Yikes! Anyway now I'm sick so Not going back.
google avatar

Denise F.

Yelp
absolutely love having this coffee shop, despite its contrast to all the other local shops its just really great coffee. BEWARE of the cold brew, just half a cup will have your heart racing, feet tapping and mind speeding a mile a minute. The chai latte is good and my favorite are the iced soy lattes (or the iced dirty soy chai if I'm feeling extra yuppity). The baristas are super friendly and really just GET caffeine addiction, they just understand. They'll give you an extra shot if youre cranky and ask for it, and they send you off with a blessing. Of course, it should also be noted that they also sell Dough doughnuts.....nothing else needs to be said here.
google avatar

Xavier J.

Yelp
this establishment is extremely friendly and i highly reccomend. i recently saw a video of one of the workers defending the BLM after a racist white man was saying all lives matter. I give this place a 11/10 for their enviormental.
google avatar

Ness F.

Yelp
I would not give this place "$" , I like that they have oat milk, their natural interior, but don't like very bitter roast of espresso, Also please work on your music playlist Update : latte is good, dough donuts is actually greatest idea, because I usually go to dough and then to the coffee shop that sells their own baked goods so I'm not very comfortable and this time morning music was on point!
google avatar

Donna P.

Yelp
This ia a great place absolutely love it here. Jake your are the best all the staff members are fantastic. I love the light coffee with caramel. I live close by so I am a regular here.
google avatar

Rahul G.

Yelp
This is a cool, low key, and small coffee shop offering basic/standard coffee and tea options. The service was good and the staff was friendly. There are about 10 tables here and it was nearly full of people quietly working on their laptops. I appreciated the chill vibe here. It was clean and well lit. It was also decorated with art by locals. My americano was good. It tasted like a medium roast. I prefer a darker stronger roast, but it was good nonetheless. The crowd here was mostly young 20 year olds. Definitely recommend stopping by this place if you're in the area. They also offer some awesome sounding breakfast sandwiches in case you are looking to grab a bite.
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
Nice vibe and a good place to do work. Doesn't have a big menu which is great because that keeps things simple. Try the goat cheese sandwich-- it's a refreshing breakfast sandwich to have :)
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, never packed. Really like a holiday snow den in Aspen. Love the lighting. Pastries are ALWAYS fresh. They even have donuts from Dough so it saves you the walk ( Eventhough you should probably walk after eating one of them. ) They lose one star because as reviews have said there coffee items are hit or miss, I guess it depends on who your barista is.
google avatar

Zack L.

Yelp
Nice place, with a nice staff, nice coffee, and nice pastries. I can't point to anything really unique about it, but a more than serviceable coffee shop. I live around the corner, so I go a lot. They stock doughnuts from "Dough", which are likely fresh considering that the actual shop isn't too far away. To earn a fifth star I'd really like to see them expand on their food menu. They've added a couple sandwiches, but with so many options for coffee and croissants, some interesting grub would help set Burly apart. This area needs it too!
google avatar

Sergio G.

Yelp
Just moved to Bedstuy and I think I found my new favorite coffee shop. Latte was well made and the buttery croissants we're so good.
google avatar

Chahney H.

Yelp
Definitely not coming back. The music was wicked loud and abrasive, and it was cold in the space. I'm ashamed to say I paid almost $7 for a reg sized iced chai which turned out to just be concentrate and milk (and it tasted funny anyway). Nothing on the menu was interesting to me and the prices are wild. :(
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Sad to give a mediocre rating as I usually love local coffee shops! The staff was friendly but line took a bit long. The rating really takes a hit because their cold brew was not good at all! Way way too acidic. It was hard to drink and I am someone who normally drinks all coffee black. Definitely not possible here. Maybe I will give them another shot next time I'm in the area and get an americano or latte.
google avatar

Olivia B.

Yelp
OMG, Burly Coffee was definitely incredible. Can't wait to try everything off the menu here. Everything I've tried up until now is really good. The crew was very welcoming and service is amazing. Burly Coffee is a must go, fantastic spot I am so glad to have found.
google avatar

Carlos R.

Yelp
Super laidback and cleaned coffee shop. Nice environment to chill or just get some work done.
google avatar

Tella M.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in the neighborhood with quick service, lots of seating, and a nice selection of coffee and snacks. I've been here several times go both grab a coffee and go and actually sit to do some work, and I've pleased each time. The staff are kind and attentive and the ambiance is peaceful and conducive to getting work done of having a casual conversation. Definitely recommend to those in the area.

Rose W.

Yelp
Burly is my neighborhood coffeeshop and I had pretty good coffee here in the past. This afternoon I got a latte and it wasn't the best experience. The barista was cold and unfriendly from the beginning to the end which made me regret my 1$ tip. Latte had zero sweetness and it was overly strong. Milk was steamed poorly and the espresso didn't taste good. %30 of the drink was milk foam which doesn't make the drink "latte". I just wish they keep the standards here so we can come back more often.
