The Best Salads in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"San Diego finally has its own take on Burmese tea leaf salad. Crisp romaine is tossed in a flavorful fermented green tea leaf dressing and mixed with fried yellow split peas, sesame and sunflower seeds, peanuts, tomatoes, jalapeños, and crushed dried shrimp. Another standout is the samosa salad, featuring curried potato bites atop cabbage, cucumber, mint, and cilantro, finished with pea powder and a tangy tamarind dressing." - Kelly Bone

Great service, big portions. The tea leaf salad was pretty decent. Excellent variety of textures but the flavor was a bit one dimensional. Would’ve loved a bit more acidity to balance it out. Would love to try a different dish, and definitely want to try the black sticky rice dessert.

Google
Prompt and friendly service with helpful recommendations. Clean and colorful environment that seemed both tranquil and cheery. Lengthy and varied menu full of enticing options. Everything I saw arriving at tables looked really tasty - the items we ordered certainly were. Flavorful and attractive with large portions, extremely satisfying. Excellent experience for my first visit, I'm aiming to have plenty more.

If you’re looking for authentic flavors, this is the place to go. The chef uses traditional recipes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I tried the paella, which was full of seafood and perfectly cooked rice. The sangria was refreshing and complemented the meal well. The staff was warm and welcoming, sharing stories about the dishes. Definitely coming back!

Google
Mohingha is a bit salty, hardly any fish flavor & watery, and the portion is quite small. Tea leaf salad contains very little tea leaves and too much lettuce. The restaurant is clean, but the flavors are not quite authentic, and portions are quite small compared to other Burmese restaurants with similar prices north of San Diego area.

I have not had Burmese food like this since the 80's. Every taste was spot on. From the coconut chicken noodle soup with hard boiled egg, cilantro, red pepper which was my favorite and is pictured in the empty bowl (sorry). The basil chicken and the black pepper beef tasted so fresh. The meat, the veggies were crisp and the sauce wasn't overpowering. The chicken lettuce wraps with sweet chili sauce was a great starter along with the crispy egg rolls. I am thankful that this restaurant is 20 minutes away or I would be broke, fat, and sassy. It's that good. Shout out to Micheal, who made the entire experience one the best in a long time.

I love this place so much! Have brought so many friend and family members here to also enjoy and they love it too! Tea Leaf Salad is my absolute favorite with the coconut rice followed by the garlic broccoli and mango chicken. Cindy is amazing! She remembered my name and my order down to the drink! Amazed!

Google
A friend of mine told me about this place so in my drive home from hiking, I stopped to give it a try for dinner. I ordered a Mango Salad & Coconut Chicken soup. They came with ENORMOUS silverware HA!! I asked for smaller sizes. To my surprise & delight, The food portions were also enormous and delightful! So much so that I had no room for dessert, yet I love to have dessert . The service was good and the prices were very fair, especially for the portions as well. They also had Very friendly staff there. The slight negative, which was really minor, was the small size of the place, lacking much atmosphere. I didn't count the tables but it's not that big. But like I mentioned, that was very minor, unless they get full of customers when I want to go there. Ha! Anyhow I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Every visit to Burma Palace is a treat. We started with the tea leaf salad - portions are large and we shared it. It's filled with delicious vegetables, crunchy, flavorful and refreshing. The Minty Jalapeno Chicken is a flavor bomb. The unique flavors were such a treat. We had a side of coconut rice - another winner. Our waitress Cindy made helpful suggestions and was very responsive.

Yelp
We came here for dinner on Friday expecting a crowd at about 6pm. We were surprised there were only 2 tables left. The others were Reserved. Note: make reservations. We were shown a table about 10mins of wait. Which was very reasonable. Here's what we ordered. Palata with Dip. A fluffy roti served with coconut chicken curry. I love the roti because it was flaky, light but not oily. The coconut curry was tasty, not salty and came with a couple pieces of chicken. This is a small app, to be shared. Mango Salad. We had to search for the mangoes, later realised it was sliced really thin. The finely juliened romaine lettuce, cabbage, wonton chips, cucumbers and pea powder made the entire salad so tasty, I personally loved this dish the most. Fresh, crunchy, light, yummy. Samosas Soup. This soup came with a side of vegetables, in it there's supposed to contain samosas. I didn't get any of the samosas but I didn't care, the soup flavor was good enough for me, so different from other soups I've tasted. I feel it contains some tamarind. So it's mildly sour balanced with a bit of savory. Overall a very memorable dish. Garlic Noodles. It's flat egg noodle tossed with garlic and scallions topped with meat or shrimp or tofu & broccoli. We chose the vegetarian version. I didn't quite like this, it was a tad too oily for me. Basil Lemongrass Swai. Another favorite. Swai stir fried with soy sauce, fish sauce, snap peas, red bel pepper, lemongrass, basil, garlic and chili. Fish was well cooked. Tender and sauce was perfect for rice. Eggplant Garlic Sauce. Eggplant w/jalapenos, topped w/toasted garlic, ginger & scallions. Not my favorite as it's sweet. I would definitely go back to try other dishes.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Burma Place. I was excited to share with my mom. We were the only people in the place and our food was really excellent. The music was Spotify with commercials which was a little ridiculous. However, when it came time to pay the check was placed on the table and my mom put her credit card down. We boxed the left overs and waited a few minutes. When it seemed clear that neither people would come for check, I scanned the QR code to use apply pay-there had been no previous indicator that maybe that would be better. It chimed after I paid with Apple Pay and one of the workers who was 5 ft from us said "I love that sound" and the other one said "yeah cause you don't have to do more work." So although the food was good, there is a bad taste in my mouth now that we have left.

Yelp
While this was my first visit to Burma Place, I've had some outstanding Burmese food oversees. We tried the Tea Leaf Salad (while I've had better, this was delicious in its own way, I'd definitely order again), the Nan Gyi Thoke - soft noodles, and chicken in a creamy coconut sauce ( flavorful but I'd try something else next time), Pineapple Fried Rice (very kid friendly), Garlic Eggplant (yummy) and Minty Jalapeño Chicken (very flavorful and mildly spicy). The service was very courteous and prompt. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their menu.

Yelp
My family's favorite for Friday night take out. Everything is so good we order with leftovers in mind. The platta with chicken curry dip, tea leaf salad, samosas, all the entree chicken dishes, coconut rice, black sticky rice... I have not had any other wasn't delicious. Yum!

Yelp
Idk how a restaurant can offer a significant menu and have every single item be better than the last - or how its staff can serve a large group so well, but Burma Place does both, exceptionally. Weather for takeout or dine in, whether alone or with your family or in a group, this is a must anytime you're in or around Rancho Bernardo.

Yelp
Walked in for the first time. Ample seating. Staff were very friendly and accommodating but oy vey! their shrieky, sharp and loud voices especially when excited just bothered us a lot. We ordered the Burmese Chow Mein and Burmese Chicken Curry. All in all, it missed the mark in flavor. No particular flavor stood out whether the curry or otherwise. My tastebuds were not offended but felt both dishes needed emphasis. Maybe more curry to pronounce curry or basil for that essence are ideas I'd consider. They are not cheap and are moderately priced. Being the only Burmese restaurant in the area, they can elevate themselves without much more effort.

Yelp
We tried this place a couple of times. It's a small cozy place, and gets pretty busy. Parking was no problem since it was in a Vons mall. The food was something between Thai and Chinese, closer to Thai. Everything we had was delicious: Basil Lemongrass Chicken, Burma House Noodles and Eggplant Chicken. My husband loves spicy food, and was missing some heat and kick since their dishes were pretty mild. Burma House Noodles could use more sauce/flavors, and the amount of the noodles and the meat was disappointing. My favorite was Basil Lemon Chicken. The waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu. They don't have lunch menu or lunch specials. Good alternative to Thai or Chinese to try.

Yelp
Omg I love love the food here!!!! My favorite are the noodles with curry ( I forgot the exact name of it but it's one of their signature dishes). A MUST have is the tea leaf salad- It's out of this world good. Also the appetizer specialty bread with curry dipping sauce is insanely good. Those are my top 3 picks but you really can't go wrong with any dish! All eggplant dishes are also amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite local restaurants! Every dish they make is amazing, especially the Tea Leaf Salad! I love the complex flavors and how they complement each other. Service is friendly and they have tables that can fit larger parties. It's a casual dining setting but their food presentation is great!

Yelp
I was actually pleasantly surprised that this place would be delicious. I didn't see many actual Asians eating here but the workers in the back were Asian so it was safe to say the food was good! We ordered the garlic noodles with pork which turned out to be actually cha siu which is even better. However my group didn't think this was very good as it wasn't as flavorful as we would have liked it. It definitely needed 2x the amount of the sauce that was provided. The Burmese fried rice was very unique and delicious. I've never had anything like it and I think they have some type of mung bean in it which is really good and nice flavor and texture. We also ordered the mango chicken and that one was perfect. Perfect balance of sweet and tangy chicken with real mango sauce. We also ordered the coconut noodles with chicken. It's basically similar to khao soi but with rice noodles instead. Good but not enough soup, the noodles absorbed it all really quick. My sister also really wanted the stir fried spicy shrimp and eggplant. Surprisingly it was really good. I don't even like eggplant but they cooked it perfectly. The eggplant was still firm but tender and not mushy. You can tell they flash fried it before stir frying it quickly. Great technique. Overall, id definitely come back and my parents to try it. Ambiance was clean and had the most beautiful dishes.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend dining in where the presentation of the dishes are plated beautifully and the servings are generous. The food is tasteful, authentic and consistent each time we visit. We love the tea salad and the curry dishes. The staff are welcoming and warm!

Yelp
Burma place is truly an authentic homegrown restaurant inside an unassuming strip mall aka diamond in the rough. All the food is delicious and service is usually great. Recommend the coconut rice but they also have white and brown. For dishes, see my recommendations below: 1. Tea leaf salad - 5/5. Vegetarian and one of the most unique salads I've ever tried in my life. A must order 2. Palata with dip - 5/5. Best appetizer and you get to try their coconut curry 3. Nan Gyi Thoke - 5/5. Noodles with coconut curry. One of my fav noddles dishes. Reminds me of pancit palabok 4. Chili beef noodle - 3/5. Flavorful and beef was very tender. Too many onions and peppers 5. Pumpkin chicken stew - 3/5. Flavor was bland but generous on the pumpkin and chicken was very tender 6. Kebat swai - 5/5. Delicate, good flavor 7. Minty jalapeño beef - 4/5. My husband liked this better than the swai. Lots of flavor

Yelp
San Diego the time has come to experience delicious Burmese cuisine! On my return visit here we expanded our culinary experience by tasting the other headliner savory dishes here. We started with the tea leaf lettuce. I've never experienced a salad as tasty this! The dressing is savory it not over powering. I'm not a salad person but this is what the doctor ordered. We also ordered the noodle salad, the noodles were dressed with a savory flavor. You get a sweet and sour sauce that surprisingly compliments the noodles. We had the curry chicken with a combination classic of half coconut rice and half steamed rice. If you going low carb you will surely be undermining the amazing blend this dynamic duo that says let's go! The marinade that the chicken is made with is savory and complements the rice it comes with. After I was done eating the chicken curry which is enough for two adults I just ate the rice marinated in the delicious curry sauce. We wrapped our meal up with dessert palata, this is enough for three to four adults. The service was attentive and friendly. The vibe is relaxed here. Parking is abundant and there are tables outside but I do recommend bringing a light jacket there is a nice breeze that rolls through this location. You have a lot of choices to make in the area, I recommend you put this on our hit list because the chefs know how to make delicious dishes here!

Cynthia S.

Yelp
The food is outstanding and the service even better! Marlow and Cindy have got to be the best servers in all of San Diego County! The vibe is great! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here for dinner because I've never tried Burmese food in SD. The parking lot has ample space, and we were seated immediately. The inside is small but cozy. The menu is pretty straight forward. We tried the garlic noodles and their beef saute. The flavors were really great. Would love to be back.

Yelp
Always a treat to eat Burmese food. Burma Place has one of the most extensive menu's I've seen at a Burmese restaurant, though it seems some of the items are inspired from Chinese dishes (e.g. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce). Shan Tofu ($10.99): 8 pieces of crispy tofu made with yellow beans served on a bed of thinly sliced cabbage and a side of tangy sauce, similar to sweet & sour with a tiny kick. Good small bite to start the meal. The exterior of the tofu holds its crispiness very well. The tofu was also kid approved! Garlic Noodles w/ Chicken ($13.99): Thicker flat egg noodles with choice of protein (chicken, shrimp, veggie), topped with sliced cucumbers, scallions, and fried garlic. The fried garlic bits on top are *chefs kiss* and add the perfect crispiness and garlic-y aroma to tie the dish together. A side of sauce with jalapeños is also served alongside the dish. I couldn't pinpoint what the sauce was exactly but I did add a little bit to the noodles with the jalapeño for a spicy kick and it was delicious. Noodles had a slightly chewy and bouncy texture - 10/10 would recommend, though not a dish I've seen at other Burmese restaurants. Sweet Black Sticky Rice w/ Vanilla Ice Cream ($11.99): A sweet ending to the meal with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream and black sticky rice. The flavor of the rice was delicious but I wish it was cooked just a tad bit longer as some of the rice was still a bit hard in texture. Service was subpar at best. We needed 3 high chairs and had to get them ourselves. We weren't really checked up on and waters weren't refilled quickly. There is a 20% automatic gratuity charge that applies to bigger parties. Located in the same plaza as Vons, though a bit off to the side. Ample amount of parking spaces within the shared lot.

Yelp
A little bummed that they no longer have the chilli lamb on their menu because i would visit just for this along with some coconut rice :( Supposedly there wasnt demand. Unfortunately the other meats in "chilli" flavor just dont cut it. I hope they bring it back.

Yelp
We were in San Diego for vacation and happened to find Burma Place, just a short walk from our hotel--and we're so glad we did! It's a cozy little spot with a warm, welcoming vibe. The walls are beautifully decorated with traditional Burmese artwork, and the space felt just right--not too crowded, and comfortably sized for a relaxed meal. The food totally exceeded our expectations. The Shan Tofu and Burmese sausage were absolute standouts--so flavorful and unique. We also really enjoyed the fish chowder noodle soup and Nan Gyi Thoke. Both came in good portions and were packed with bold, delicious flavors. The noodle salad was big and loaded with tofu. My girlfriend asked for less cabbage, and it ended up being her favorite dish (although I'm not a salad person) Shoutout to our server Marlo, who made the experience even better. She was super friendly, upbeat, and checked in with us often--even while juggling other tables. You could tell she really cared. We're definitely going to miss Burma Place when we head back to San Jose. If you're in the area, this spot is worth a visit!

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my list for a while now and I finally got the chance to try it the other day. It was our first time having Burmese food, and it came highly recommended by our friends. What we ordered: Palata w/ Chicken Curry Dip $12.99 (2.5/5): the curry was EXTREMELY BLAND but the chicken was tender and moist. I think they forgot to put salt or seasoning in the curry... something was definitely missing. I can't imagine it being served this bland all the time. The Palata, however, was PERFECT: buttery, thin and flaky. I could eat the Palata every day. This appetizer would've been a 5/5 if the curry was seasoned. I bet the Dessert Palata would be yummy. Tea Leaf Salad $16.99 (3.5/5): light, refreshing and crunchy. Chili Beef Noodles $16.99 (3.5/5): I was set on ordering the Garlic Noodles after skimming through Yelp prior to my visit; but when I asked the waitress which noodles she preferred, she said the chili beef noodles are very good and the garlic noodles aren't as traditional... so I ended up ordering the beef noodles instead. The chili beef noodles reminded me of a light pad see ew or drunken noodles, but with egg noodles. It also had a more mild flavor. I think my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me. If I were to describe it, I'd say Burmese food reminds me of a mixture of Thai (but not as flavorful), Chinese, and Indian food. May return one day to have the Palata again.

Yelp
UPDATE ON UPDATE This visit consisted of good customer service, 90s r&b jams playing, and delicious food. It's not often I come to the north county offices in RB and RC but when I do I tend to always come here for lunch. I had tried several things from the menu but the new go-to order for me would be BASIL LEMONGRASS CHICKEN - love the sauce, mix of vegetables, and sautéed lemongrass chicken. Very flavorful yet a good ratio of chicken and vegetable mix. HIGHLY RECOMMEND COCONUT RICE - First time ordering this as I usually get side of white rice. This was a nice treat! Creamy sweet flavor in the rice but subtle at the same time. It's topped with fragments of fried (but still moist) shredded coconut which had a nice charred flavor to them. This did pair well with basil lemongrass chicken because that dish had a little bit of heat and the sauce is rich that the creamy flavor rice offset it and made each bite more balanced. SHIRLEY TEMPLE - first time ordering this as I usually get mango lassi BUT I wanted something more lite to drink with my meal. It came with 6 jar cherries and was refreshing to drink. Looking forward to the next visit... every 4 months lol. JABA APPROVED. Until the next bite...

Yelp
Really delicious food and great flavors all around! I highly recommend the tea leaf salad (one of the best I've had and great portions) and the vegetable curry, as well as a samosa appetizer to start!

Yelp
This place has the best food ever! Lots of parking, staff are lovely, and no matter what you order the food is just absolutely delicious. The only thing to note is that their restaurant does close between 2:30-4:30 pm, though if you dine past 2:30pm it's not like they'll just kick you out to the curb. Highly recommend, eat here if you are pondering where to go for your next meal out!

Yelp
My new favorite restaurant added to my list in town. This is actually the second time I have been here. The first time experience was not too pleasant due to the horrible service. Came here again with my coworker during lunch hours on a Friday. We arrived around 11:30pm and there is no waiting. This time, the service is friendly and attentive. We got seated with water served right away. The server also gave a brief promotion on the popular dishes. The place is spacious and clean, maybe a little bit more work on the table wiping. Found a few sticky spot on the table. I like the eggplant shrimp with garlic sauce the most, strong taste with mixed flavor. Chili beef is not bad too. Both dishes are def rice killer. We also order an onion pancake, which is interesting to go with the side of chicken curry. I'm glad the rube waitress that I met on the first time is not there during this visit, and hopefully they don't lose the service part while the business becomes better. Will def come back to try out more dishes!

Yelp
Met some friends here for dinner. This was in a small strip mall. There were plenty of parking spots. We ordered a few item to share. The Tea Leaf Salad was very good and one of a kind. The Burma Place Chicken was very good. It was refreshing with mango and sauce on the dish. Everything we ordered I would order again. Server was very nice and attentive, too. The negative part of this restaurant is the bathroom. It wasnt very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here to meet friends on a week night. The service was pleasant and dishes tasty. There was plenty of seating and although a small place, it felt spacious. It was my first time eating Burmese food. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Fantastic first time try. The food was fantastic with an excellent variety from vegetarian, seafood, pork and beef. The mango salad was delicious and the coconut rice was an excellent side. The service was the best. I said what I was looking for, spicy seafood, and she had several recommendations. We decided to eat family style and share the bounty. The restaurant is located in a strip mall off Bernardo Center Dr. , with plenty of parking and competition. The ambiance was relaxed, clean and basic. Not loud so all 7 of us could hear each other.

Yelp
I've been looking for a Burmese spot in San Diego and I'm happy to have found Burma Place! For three, we ordered the tea leaf salad (a must - such a refreshing and flavorful start), Burmese curry pork, eggplant garlic, chili beef, and the garlic noodles. Burmese flavors is a combo of Thai, Indian and Chinese and it's super delicious. Servers were very friendly and attentive, we got seated quickly (they have indoor and outdoor seating), peaceful restaurant, beautiful decor of Burma and parking is very easy as it's located in a large strip mall.

Aileen A.

Yelp
The food was so good! We wanted a change of palette and to try new cuisine safe to say we were not disappointed. I got the Burmese Chow Mein and my boyfriend got the Chili Beef noodles both were v good! I believe the restaurant owner helped us out she was very friendly and helpful :) P.S. if you like spice definitely request the peppers

Yelp
Love the food here, I have tried many of their dishes and everything has been delicious. Favorites include the minty jalapeno beef, tea leaf salad, and the palata with chicken. The service is typically great (with the exception of my last visit) and the restaurant is small but inviting. Burmese food seems to be a mix of Thai and Indian flavors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent friendly service. Wonderful variety of dishes that a group of us shared so we could taste more dishes. All was sooo delicious, the coconut rice was amazing and worth trying with your meal!

Yelp
I love getting to try Burmese restaurants anytime I come across one, so when I found myself around the area, I knew I had to check out Burma Place. Our group of 5 came on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was mostly full. Service was a bit slow initially, but I appreciated how our waitress was accommodating as we had a food allergy at the table so she kindly pointed out any dishes that contained said allergy. We ordered a total of 6 dishes: "Shan Tofu" ($10.99), "Palata with Curry Dip" ($12.99), "Tea Leaf Salad" ($16.99), "Garlic Noodles" ($13.99), "Fish Chowder Noodle Soup (mohinga)" ($14.99), and their Coconut Noodle Soup ($14.99). The portions were a bit on the smaller end, but everything tasted great and was flavorful. My favorites were the crispy palata, the coconut noodle soup and the tea leaf salad which was bright and delicious from the fermented tea leaves. Burma Place is located in a strip mall where there was a decent amount of available parking.

Yelp
This is a must try restaurant! The staff is super warm and inviting. Some of my favorites are the Tea Leaf Salad and the Shan Tofu Red Curry. So delicious!

Yelp
This place is amazing- food is so yum and unique. The servers are also awesome. The minty jalapeño chicken is da GOAT

Yelp
Take out - awesome! The food is always great, the service is wonderful, the ambiance is calm & comfortable. Burma Place is Super!

Yelp
QUICK TAKE// One of the few burmese spots around SD that is consistently delicious. FOOD// So much variety! There is something for everybody. I actually really enjoy their vegetarian options just because of how much flavor the entries have. My personal favorite is the eggplant in garlic sauce. Garlic noodles are always delicious and you can pair it with whatever protein you'd like. Whenever you get a dish that is saucey, give the coconut rice a go! The contrast of savory flavors against the lightly sweet, coconut is *chef's kiss*. SERVICE// Very great service. It is a smaller restaurant so the waiting staff can easily monitor their guests. VIBES// Standard sit down restaurant that is simple and no fuss. I definitely come here for the food and variety.

Yelp
I've been meaning to come here for so long!!! it's so nice to have a taste of Burma down here in San Diego. Been eating Burmese for years up in the Bay and was so glad to finally have access to some solid Burmese near home! My friend and I ordered some samosas, the tea leaf salad, Burmese curry noodles, and the eggplant curry. The eggplant curry was so good we ordered another one to go to split! Loved the noodles as well, and even the white rice was delicious. The tea leaf salad was good but somehow different from what I'd been expecting. Service was fast and friendly, ambience was casual and comfortable. Parking was typical strip mall parking. I'm so happy I finally made the drive to north country for this- it's totally worth it!

Yelp
The food was amazing! One of my favorite Burmese places. The service was also top notch. Everyone was really friendly and attentive. I'll definitely come back

Yelp
I was in the area for an appointment and I decided to use my trusted Yelp App to find a new restaurant for lunch. I was ready for another spontaneous foodie experience. I came across Burma Place located in the Rancho Bernardo Plaza. The menu was filled with plenty of yummy sounding dishes. I tried the Burmese eggplant curry with coconut rice and a refreshing mango lassi to drink...loved them! OMG, the coconut rice was so delicious. It had a certain type of sweetness to it....I had to ask for seconds. I just wish the only server there was a bit more friendlier especially when I told her it was my fist time and it wasn't too busy. Anyway, I definitely recommend this lovely place to eat.

Yelp
Just got home from eating lunch there for the first time. We were driving around and just happened upon it. So glad we did it was wonderful. We had the salad and the garlic noodles. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Excellent and fast and friendly service, DELICIOUS Burmese food, and a casual atmosphere make this one a winner for me! I loved the flavors so much in every single dish. My absolute favorite is the Nan Gyi curry chicken with the so-tender-it-falls-apart chicken chunks, with a subtle coconut broth that is both savory and sweet, and it goes well with palatas bread or the amazing coconut rice. The sesame beef was also a winner and the garlic noodles are cold and more subtle in flavor which paired nicely with the sesame beef. Do not hesitate to stop by this awesome spot!
google avatar

Clythie C.

Yelp
This place is so legit. If you know Burmese food, you'll always crave fermented tea leaf salad and the one at Burma Place hits the spot! The samosa salad is to die for as well. Once you share the Palata with chicken curry dip appetizer you scheme for reasons to go back and get your own. Don't skimp on the dessert Palata too. It's so good. The Shan tofu is incredible as well. You can't go wrong. Share as many dishes as you can fit on the table. And enjoy the friendly service and light, clean, upbeat atmosphere.

Yelp
I've been here a total of around six times and the best thing is their coconut rice. Holy moly. Every single dish I've had is so good and this is probably the only restaurant where I look forward to ordering a fish dish (any swai dish on their menu is so good). I honestly think it's better than any Burmese food I had in Myanmar. Love their tea salad and chicken dishes. The coconut chicken curry is so good. Their service is nice and everytime the place has been accommodating even when we came with three toddlers. Located in a strip mall near Jack in the box. I would say this place is an absolute gem!

Yelp
Oh my gosh this was so good. It's hard to find good Asian food in North County SD, let alone good BURMESE food. And I know that this place is usually an excellent choice because I usually just get their tea leaf salad which is great but today I opted for other dishes because it was lunch with my family. I just never knew all their other dishes were even better! We ordered to go through their online order on their website. We got the coconut noodles soup, the palata with chicken curry, the garlic noodles with BBQ pork, and the tea leaf salad. The garlic noodles were good. My partner ate that and he thought it was fine. The tea leaf salad is still just as delicious as I remembered. Lots of freshly cut vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, and cabbage. Then you have the crunch container that has all the seeds, peanuts, and crunchy goodness. And of course the tea leaf salad dressing. But the palata with chicken curry and the coconut noodles soup were so tasty. Even though we did take out and live 30+ mins away, the palata was still crispy and crunchy. I bet it's even better when you are eating it more fresh than we did. And the chicken curry. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. The curry was excellent. It just was a perfect combination of dipping the palata into the curry. And the coconut noodles. That was really good too! The soup is creamy and full of delicious flavor. If it's a little too flavor blasted, you could squeeze the lemon in but I think the fresh onions and cilantro picked it up very nicely. My only complaint was that there was not enough noodles because I wanted more. I might have to cook some more noodles to add to my leftover soup. Also if it's any consolation, my one year old had the chicken curry and the chicken in the coconut noodles and she cleared her plate of those.

Yelp
Waiter was quick to seat us and very attentive throughout our dinner. Tables were fairly filled during the evening, but half of them were still empty. Comfortable seating. Great place for a small dinner. Quiet enough to hold a conversation with the people at your table. First time I had Burmese food. Reminds me of Chinese food. I loved their Spicy Crispy Chicken. It was not spicy and that is okay. It was still perfect. Plenty of parking spots. Strip mall was fairly quiet in this area in the early evening.

Yelp
The noodle was a joke. With couple pieces of chicken and the noodles was hiding underneath the chicken. I thought it did not have any noodle before digging through the dish.

Yelp
The service so horrible that I was close to giving the food back. Placed a takeout order, went to my car and checked the bag and noticed it was missing a meal. When I told them about it the Asian woman went to the back and instead of asking who messed up she told them fire up the mint chicken passed me by and didn't even apologize. Then she started to joke with the other guy who also messed my order. They clearly not taking their jobs seriously. They cooked it in less than 3 min and no apology or anything. Came back home the portion size, quality was poor. The bread was soggy and the vegetable curry bland. The shrimp and chicken meals, were more like appetizers since the portion size was unbelievable for $80.
