"Burning Rice, a popular Korean chain, has opened its sixth DFW outpost in Addison. Diners can build rice bowls with bases like kimchi rice or japchae noodles, add proteins like garlic pork or Korean short rib, and top with veggies and an over-easy egg. Everything is served in hot stone bowls or regular bowls. Desserts and Korean beverages like Milkis and sujeonggwa are also available." - Amy McCarthy

Their food is good. The service is good and the atmosphere is good. The spicy shrimp is fire!!!! In the picture, I got brown rice, garlic pork, broccoli, carrots, an over easy egg, and zucchini. I definitely recommend getting the spicy shrimp, though, for more flavor. I didn't enjoy the sauce they gave me when I ordered takeout, but they have more sauce in-house. They also give you a nice amount of food. Like you could eat half of it and be full. Otherwise their food is good and I would recommend it.

Visited this location in October 2024. Good atmosphere, great service! The self order kiosk works well, and easy to place an order. Miso soup was tasty with plenty of tofu. The iced strawberry drink tasted strongly of strawberry milk (I’m a fan). Tofu bowl was nice as well. Would visit again when in the area.

UPDATE!! If I could give it 0 stars I would. We went in person to dine in and never again we will order or dine in. Everything was going great I love the presentation but the minute we took a bite the meat had bones. We told the workers it had bones and they just said it was just because of the meat because sometimes they might have bones. I have been to many korean places that serve this dish and I also make it at home and you always make it with meat that has no bone. Bulgogi meat never has bones. We couldn't even eat it even my daughters food had bones and did not wanna eat it anymore since she couldn't anyway. We spent 60 dollars on food we were not able to enjoy. I feel very disappointed in them. No wonder the place is always empty I used to order from this place all the time through Uber or Doordash, but you can't even customize your bowls anymore just on one specific one, and that's it. So I haven't been able to order anymore. It's such a shame we loved this place a lot.

Google
Really good. This is a great casual spot that still has some higher end feel to it. Very clean, well designed/decorated interior, and perfect background music. We ordered the hot stone bowls, and at first it seemed like the price was a bit high, but when they came out, I was not disappointed, The food stayed hot almost too long😂 (careful, I did burn my mouth). Great flavor, everything was fresh, and great service. Highly recommend the shrimp, not too spicy but excellent flavor and cooked to perfection! Would come again!

Google
The dish was good and delicious. The onion flank is good; however, the portion doesn’t make sense for an extra dollar. The protein and vegetables were fresh, though the rice could be a little fresher and better cooked.

Google
Found this place near our hotel. It was a great meal! Food was so good. I got the hot stone bowl and I love that the hot bowl kept my food warm for a very long time. The rice gets crispy on the bottom so you have to stir the rice to not get the rice too crispy on the bottom. Overall great meal! Price is really reasonable. Quality of meat was great! I would come back again

Mercedes

Google
So good! The rice was consistently hot for the entire time we were eating. The two of us shared one bowl, and felt comfortably full

Google
Rainy day weather approved! SO soothing and calming for a meal. I ordered the Bibimbop, great level of spicy, the bowls keep the food steaming the whole time I absolutely love it. The Thai tea is also 😍😍😍😍 and completes the meal really well.

Yelp
Amazing bowls and I like ordering take away for lunch - this is a popular location that can be busy so takeaway is much more convenient for me.

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
The food was very tasty. Nice selection and service. The price for the protein made the meal a bit more, but I guess prices are up everywhere in this post-COVID era.

Nikhil R.

Yelp
I continue to enjoy this Korean bibimbap restaurant chain every time I come here. Their food is very fresh, their ingredients are great, and it tastes really good. If you want to light yet, flavorful bowl of food, you should 100% come here. I personally love the spicy bulgogi bowl with everything on it and kimchi fried rice.

Yelp
I haven't been to Burning Rice in years. So, I was super excited since I have always had tasty meals at this location. So, the menu is new which is cool. You have to order by kiosk, I get it. It was easy to use. The restaurant was empty. But there were multiple tables that were dirty. I literally got a cup of water to clean the table off. I would expect an empty restaurant to be spotless. But it is what it is. My friend LOVED her meal. Will I try it again? Definitely!!! But I will buy my meal to-go which is what most customers do.

Yelp
First time visited on 12/10/2023. Ordered the Bulgogi Bowl with Miso Soup. It was pretty darn good! Just something to be aware of that they cook it fresh so it does take a bit to get your food after ordering at the kiosk. I would return to try a few more of their dishes.

Yelp
Burning rice used to be one of my favorite spots for quick korean casual but I must say post covid I'm a little bit disappointed. First, they removed the free soup and salad bar they used to have. This was one of my favorite parts of the restaurant and I was highly disappointed it never came back. Second, they automated everything so you no longer speak to someone to order but instead just order at a kiosk. I wouldn't mind this but at the end of ordering the kiosk still asks for like a 20% tip and maybe I'm just getting worn out from being asked to tip so much everywhere but when I'm not even seeing an employee and being asked to tip it is pretty lame. Lastly, the prices got pushed up too high and it is a little deceiving as a bowl will have a price that seems reasonable for like $12 but then to add protein is another $5-6! Overall the food is still tasty and satisfying but the downsides really turn me off from the place and keep me from coming back more than once every few months, whereas before all the changes I used to frequent it almost weekly

Lolo A.

Yelp
Takeout customers (who have prepaid) can go up to the counter to pick up their order. Dine-in customers can either place an order through the multiple kiosks available or via the QR code on the tables. We ordered via the kiosk (which features pictures), grabbed a number and had a seat. A waitress delivered our order to the table a short while later. There is a self serve area for drinks, chopsticks, napkins and sauces. We ordered the galbi, spicy garlic pork bibimbap, mandoo and the 5 pc signature wings. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes were hot. The galbi was delicious. The spicy garlic pork was also tasty but not spicy at all. I prefer the spicy pork at Palama Market in Honolulu, HI (Snack Corner at Makaloa) and compare all spicy pork dishes to that particular standard. There wasn't that much rice in the bibimbap, but they were generous with the toppings. The mandoo was standard but the wings were flavorful.

Antonio M.

Yelp
Good place. I've come here twice and I liked it. The food is super hot. Sauces are good. It's very basic but good and tbh it tasted fresh. I'm not Korean and I just really enjoy eating good food and I taste this place does good.

Tyler G.

Yelp
Service is really bad or phone numbers for all locations in Dfw do not work. I tried placing an order over the phone and it seems all phone numbers go straight to voicemail. I tried different options with the automated system and they all go straight to voicemail. It seems there is no way to contact this restaurant.

L Minton R.

Yelp
The food is adequate but the tofu and fried chicken dishes are my favorite. Get a burning bowl- adds flavor to food and items stay warm the whole time you are eating.. However at the end of our meal Young lady helped us order, we like the Plano location better. We were disgusted by the people behind the counter airing out a shirt, rubbing their head, wiping their nose and then touching the food on the line. Management lacking or nonexistent

Dani A.

Yelp
Got food poisoning after eating it. Some of the food must have been contaminated, leading to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fever.

Yuki I.

Yelp
Good bibimbap/kbbq place in Addison - just happened to come across it while I was in the area, so my friend and I stopped by for lunch. The ordering process is quite simple and efficient. When you walk in, you can just sit at a table and scan the QR code for the menu and order straight from your phone! The food is delivered to your table if you're dining in! The only negative is that if you use separate phones to open the menu and order, then it creates separate tabs, which is a little inconvenient if you're trying to pay together. They had a dine-in lunch combo, so we both went for that. I got the bulgogi bibimbap on hot stone with classic mandoo (fried dumplings with soy protein), and my friend got the BBQ chicken bibimbap with beef mandoo. The combo also came with a bowl of miso soup, so this was plenty of food for each of us. The combo comes with 2 mandoos, so we traded a mandoo so we could try the other flavor. I liked the soy protein (classic) mandoo, as it was rich in flavor without being overpowering. But honestly, I'm not a huge fan of fried dumplings. For the bibimbap, you can customize the egg, rice, and veggies in your bibimbap - I chose sunny-side-up egg, brown rice and got all the veggies listed (bean sprouts, kimchi, broccoli, carrots, etc.). I had a bite of the bbq chicken bibimbap, and I liked the bulgogi better. The bulgogi has more sweet flavor, and I personally enjoy the thinly sliced pieces more than the larger pieces of chicken. I loved the crispily burnt rice at the very bottom of the stone bowl! I had some rice left over at the end of my meal, but it was SOOO good! I would definitely come back for a casual lunch hangout!

Mindy L.

Yelp
I have been going to BR for a few years. I loved it prior to it's scale down and really miss the salad/soup bar!! I would say that the quality of each bowl is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it is sooo good and I'm like omg how do they do it. But sometimes the rice is just so mooshy that we don't want to finish our dinner. We take the gamble when it's been a hard parenting day and need a quick fix. I will say that everyone there is very nice and it is very quick to place an order online and pick it up. I don't like placing my order there on the machines...it feels weird but I suppose this is the future?

Michael V.

Yelp
They either need to change their hours or change your method of service 835 so 25 minutes before closing and you can't order a hot stone bowl. That's ridiculous considering that's their signature! We just saw him lose a business of sex, but I guess they don't care about customer service.

Annie A.

Yelp
Ordering and paying from the front kiosk was easy. You take a number and grab a table and drinks are self serve. Everything is made fresh so there is a short wait. There are three Asian sauces to compliment your order. We tried the bulgogi and short rib bowls. We customized them so we got to choose among different rice, noodles and vegetables. The order was brought to our table. Hot and delicious. I do recommend and I will be back. You can order to go.

Jenny S.

Yelp
I ordered through Grubhub and maybe this is why it didn't taste good? I tried the Garlic Pork lunch box with kimchi rice. The food was pretty mid. Not very tasty imo. Probably won't order from here again..

Jenny F.

Yelp
Went here for dinner tonight with our son. Dinner was good and service was good as well. The hot stone bibimbop was very tasty and my husband and our son ate everything and enjoyed it. They had their bibimbop with spicy pork and I had it with tofu. Mine tasted different than one at The Colony but still good. I think I prefer the one from The Colony a bit more.

Abe B.

Yelp
I had never been to Burning Rice but saw the reviews for this place and instantly got excited to try it. It was a provincial downpour and I walked to the restaurant from my hotel and was not disappointed at all. The great part was, I was able to walk right in, use the digital screen to order my food. The food was delivered perfectly Al exactly as ordered which was fantastic in the sizzling bowl. The fragrance of the food filled the restaurant as they put out some fantastic food. Soup was fantastic on such a rainy day. The wings were crispy and dressed to perfection. The crunch you want to feel with the juicy meat was absolutely there which o was craving that day. Can't say enough about the bowl as it was scolding hot, the kimchi rice was delicious. The kimchi spicy bowl was extremely flavorful, delicious enough to forget the fact that the restaurant got somewhat flooded and all of us were sitting in a pool. Haha I was there for work and I will certainly be visiting this place again and try some of the other items. Happy eating.

Michelle W.

Yelp
Ok-ish food and quality. It's a quick serve type of restaurant so the food matches the level of expectation. This is also a chain restaurant, so I am not sure other locations were better to consistent. It's better than store bought ready to eat meals. The fried chicken was not bad but also not great, a little too sweet for my taste.

AlbinA P.

Yelp
A decent lunch place. We came at 1pm on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating in their clean dining room. What I liked about it were the self-serve kiosks where you can order from pictures, which is always great if you're not sure what something is. The service is quick. The Kim chi ramen barely had any Kim chi, which was disappointing. But overall, great comfort food.

B C.

Yelp
Ordered takeout here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. They have redone their menu so some of the things listed here on yelp may not be on their menu. No Miso soup or any soup I was told but we had Bibimbap and Bulgogi bowl and it was delicious. If ordering to take home make sure you get sauces for your food.

Grisel T.

Yelp
Worked order from here for lunch and it was super quick and absolutely delicious. I order the spicy beef bulgogi with extra noodles. I was very impressed.

Jason S.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to eat at. Good pricing, good food and nice atmosphere. Kimchi Rice never disappoints!

Sarah D.

Yelp
Very good and I like being able to choose my own ingredients! I also enjoyed that no pepper was added to my scrambled eggs.

Jana W.

Yelp
No pictures as actually a good thing! I ordered the abundant deal to try a few things; a bowl with brown rice, spicy shrimp and all toppings (except kimchi) in gochujang sauce, miso soup and mandoo dumplings. The mandoo dumplings remind you of an empanada, and they are slightly sweet, very tasty. The bowl was very filling. I saved about 1/3 to eat the next day. I'm always looking for quick, affordable, healthy options when I'm in town, so I'm so happy I found this restaurant, and I'll absolutely return.

Michele R.

Yelp
so I have tried Burning Rice, Burning Japchae, and Burning Dosirak.. I AM NOT HAPPY.. The rice is not sticky, the bulgogi taste weird, and the japchae does not taste like the real thing.. I have had Burning Rice several times, each time I say that I will give it another try but I end up throwing it away. They advertise that it's authentic but I have to disagree. Being half Korean and living in Seoul, Korea for over 15 years I have to say that this is far from tasting authentic. I tried Burning Japchae last Friday and I ended up throwing away my bowl plus the one that came free. I will not eat from here ever again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Joshua K.

Yelp
Had to think about whether or not this place was 5 stars which means it's a 4 star rating from me I got the hot stone bowl with spicy bulgogi & other mix ins The bowl was so hot that I burned my mouth a few times, which made for a bad experience. Can't be upset though because this restaurant has the words "burning" in the title In hindsight, I will just get a regular bowl next time Ordered a fried mandoo & it was probably one of the best ones I've ever tasted. The "crunch" was fantastic. Quantity of food is high so that's great. Total came out to over $20 so it is somewhat a lot for 1 person but this meal can easily be split for 2 people I'll be back

Darlene R.

Yelp
I've had a lot of Korean food in my lifetime, and the food here is very, very good!! I ordered to take out and the food was promptly ready at the time they estimated. Definitely will go back and try other items!

Araceli Z.

Yelp
love the food here! you order yourself & they only take CARD!! very peaceful and great music taste. if you sign up for their rewards program you earn money back!!!

Cody A.

Yelp
The food at burning rice is magical, I got a regular bowl, white rice, spicy chicken, everything on it, and an egg cooked over easy. The only complaint I have is the portions are a little small for the price you're paying. The service is great as the food comes out relatively fast. You order through a computer at the front which is extremely convenient, they add pictures to every item in case you're unfamiliar with menu. Making it easy for picky eaters to remove unwanted ingredients. The establishment is set at a low light with an open kitchen allowing you to see the chefs at work which is slightly entertaining, along with that restaurant is well furnished giving a neo-Asian vibe which in my opinion makes the food taste better.

John K.

Yelp
Dropping 3 stars due to recent visit. They have implemented computer ordering only, by way of ordering stations near the door. There is no option to discuss meal options and ask questions of a human. It's a cold, off-putting process that is devoid of most people's need for face-to-face contact with the people who are operating the business. And furthermore, it eliminates the option to pay in cash, which can be a privacy issue. The food quality has dropped a notch. Not sure why, but wasn't the sublime experience of the past. These things are unforced errors and fixable. Time will tell whether they fix or no.

Lisa N.

Yelp
I usually go to The Colony location, but today was the Addison one. I love this place!!!! Never fails me lol. Soooo good. I got the spicy chicken today!!!

Ryan N.

Yelp
This is a viable option when I crave Korean food and I don't feel like driving to Carrollton or to Royal Lane and 35. It's a fast food style type of concept where you tell them what you want in your bowl, similar to how Subway works. There is also a free self serve bar that has salad, miso soup, and seaweed soup. The meat and egg in my bowl was good, but felt like the meat could have been better marinated. I only ordered fish cakes and kimchi as side items, but i thought they were going to put more since those were the only two side items that I had ordered. Instead, I received a tablespoon of each, making my bowl look anemic (see picture). Overall, it's a nice place to check out to satisfy your craving for Korean food!

Greg H.

Yelp
Stopped in aT lunch time. The food was good and plentiful. Definitely bring an appetite. Had then heat up the dish to get the full experience. I thought it was overkill and diid not really add to the experience. It is a place I may return but not make a regular habit.

Reginald F.

Yelp
I love the concept but I must say be careful. I went and got the spicy bulgogi with kimchi rice and all the toppings. When I got back to school and took the first bite I suspected the rice was tasting kind of off. The rice was spoiled.

Mike M.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat. Seriously, I would rather go here for lunch than any other place. Didn't even know about it a year ago, and now I go once a week. You can get a hot bowl or regular. I prefer the hot bowl because it makes the rice crispy. I get all the spicy items and all the veggies. It's like a Korean version of Poke, so meat instead of fish. It's a good value for the price too, since I always leave full. They open one in Irving and I might buy a parking space.

Connor B.

Yelp
One of the only spots that gets my delivery address right! Dine in experience is great as well. It's quiet, clean and you can order on a touch screen then head straight to a table. Spicy bulgogi is the way to go, always fantastic.

David G.

Yelp
The bulgogi rice and bulgogi was very good. I tried the hot stone bowl for my first trip here. I'll get the regular bowl next time. The stone bowl really keeps the food hot for a long time. Overall worth the money and time. Good quality food is worth a lot to me.

Rachel P.

Yelp
Great food! Good portions. Love this tasty food. It's Korean and fresh. Service is quick and there are plenty of choices to add to your dish.

Jared S.

Yelp
this review is late, I ate the pork bowl with sweet BBQ sauce and kimchi rice. The coke zero syrup was out and I told the crew guy and then I felt bad bc I also hate lifting those 50lb boxes of syrup onto a rack ;( but the food was amazing. Apparently there's a "steaming hot" option you can only get inside? Imma have to try that.

Linda C.

Yelp
I'm going to get straight to the point. Is the food delicious? Yes. Do they serve bibimbap? Yes. Is the decor nice? Yes. Do they have all you can eat miso and seawood soup and salad? Yes. This is a casual restaurant that serves rice dishes at a reasonable price and it's pretty good so burning rice has definitely become my favorite everyday restaurant.

Tess K.

Yelp
This place is yum yum!!! Put a fried egg on it...Delish!! Have to go back soon and order in and check it all out...had a friend order for me the first time..and i was in love...healthy!!

Bobby O.

Yelp
Found this place by incident while in the area and looking for last-minute take out. Ordered the white rice bowl with Bulgogi - Korean Ribeye and loaded add-ins. It was beyond delicious and will keep me going back for more.

Daniel D.

Yelp
The food is delicious and they are so friendly and nice. Build your own bowls and then they give you complimentary soup and salad. Their house made soy sauce is amazing!!

Natalie T.

Yelp
I didn't take a picture of my food but from the Bay Area & we have a lot of Asian restaurants. I stopped in because I was familiar with Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor & portion of food. I had the brown rice bowl with chicken & a variety of veggies. The sauce on top was a bonus!

Joslin D.

Yelp
So excited to welcome a Korean Restaurant to Addison! The food is simple, delicious authentic! A great causal place to meet up with friends or dine alone. Restuarant is cute, quaint and clean. This place is counter service. You can always order online and pick up if you are in a hurry. Parking can be hard due to the area. Price is fair for the food. We ordered for pick up on Sunday night! It was quick and delicious! Definitely will come back again!

Zara A.

Yelp
A good Korean place in a hot location!! They have hot stone bowls and have Ramen! I believe the Ramen is dine-in only. The bowls are all fairly priced and they offer soup and salad for free. I got the ramen with spicy chicken broth and the spicy bulgogi, the bulgogi was the best part! Staff is nice too. This is a great fast place for a quick meal!

Ryan D.

Yelp
Just visited the new location in Addison and it hits on all marks just as the location in Carrollton. The bibimbap bowl is so good I can't bring myself to try anything else. I have had the bulgogi beef and the spicy pork and I personally prefer the beef, it is traditional and full of flavor. Don't be afraid of any of the toppings even if you are a picky eater. I usually avoid strange toppings but I go all the way at Burning Rice and there is nothing that doesn't add to the total flavor of the bowl. I highly suggest the hot stone bowl and let your rice crisp up on the side of the bowl for 5 or so minutes before you start eating, that crispy rice really puts the bowl over the top. Fair warning, the stone bowl is very hot so don't dig right in or you will burn your mouth! I'll be back next week!

Me A.

Yelp
The food is tasty, but I got sick last time I ate there. I got the scrambled eggs with the beef and a couple more items ... I got sick about an hour after eating there. I thought it was the weird combination of food, but then my husband ate the rest of my food and he got sick as well . I really wanted to like this place oh, but I can't be eating foods that makes me feel ill . Won't be returning.
