I had a fantastic experience at The Burrowing Owl in Colorado Springs! This vegan gem truly exceeded my expectations. I tried the special of the day, the lemon chicken wrap, and it was absolutely delicious—bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The potato soup was the ideal complement, creamy and comforting. For dessert, we indulged in the carrot cake, and it was divine! Moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet, it was the perfect ending to our meal. To top it all off, we enjoyed a cup of their delicious French-pressed coffee, which was the cherry on top. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive vibe. I can't recommend The Burrowing Owl enough—it's a must-visit for anyone in Colorado Springs, whether you’re vegan or just looking for a tasty meal! I can’t wait to return!

Google
Got to love a spot with tons of delicious vegan options. Only got to try one dish (nachos supreme) but it was great and I have no doubt everything here is great! Love the art and design too.

We had a great time. The service was really sweet and friendly. And the food was outstanding. They accommodated the wishes of our kids. And the food came quickly so if you are hungry come here. It’s gooooood

I wasn't sure what to expect. And the politically correct / culturally sensitive vinyl sign on the door gave me pause. But dude, this place is just about perfect once you walk in the door. One of the best shaped bars I've seen in the Springs. Alcohol options are limited, but good. The food and alcohol vibe here feels like I'm in someone's home. I love that! I had a great whiskey I had never heard of (and the bartender at first had trouble locating). The mesir wot, a traditional Ethiopian Jewish dish, is rarely found in restaurants. The service and vibe in general feels like I was invited to a cool friend's crash pad. On God, this place is simply perfect.

Google
Nachos and Ding Dong cake were amazing!! The Ruben and Philly cheesesteak were both lacking a bit of flavor, but would definitely come back and try other things! Fun vibe inside and nice people!!

My husband and I were visiting Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving wk. He got a splitting headache and slept most of the day so we ended up needing to eat around 8 at night on Thanksgiving. Because it was so late all the restaurants were closed. I did a quick google map search and found Burrowing Owl. Thankfully, Burrowing Owl was open and FREE. The person who answered let me know that they had a free vegan buffet available. We went and were pleasantly surprised to learn that nothing was fried! They said they don't even own a deep fryer. The food was fresh. seasoned well and tasty. We also ordered gluten free carrot cake (it was super dense, oh well). We loved all the other food, including the gluten free cookies. Thank you for offering free food and making our Thanksgiving night memorable!

Google
I have been coming here for years and food and service is always consistent! I think by now I have tried just about everything on the menu. I would recommend the messy sloppy or anything from their Thursday specials menu. I always love to see a fully vegan restaurant!

Burrowing Owl is the TRUTH!! They were the first place we ever went in the Springs, and they made us feel like we were family right away. Always a warm welcoming bar, delicious food and deserts, the world needs more of the Owl.

Yelp
Even if you are not a vegan, this place is top notch and you wouldn't even know it. The food is prepared so well and how they are able to merge different ingredients to make the food taste like the actual things amazing. It is one of my favorite places to visit and eat at in Colorado Springs in the atmosphere and the staff are amazing. You will not be disappointed as there are so many options to choose from And things to try that even if you are a regular meat eater, you will not be disappointed here.

Barb B.

Yelp
Lots of yummy vegan food options... cozy ambience and very friendly service. Enjoyed our meal here.

Terra R.

Yelp
What fun!!! This place has delicious food! The staff are great, and the place offers conversation pieces scattered all over! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I just had an amazing lunch. The food was amazing. I split a half order of the noochos with my husband and I got the Philly sandwich. It was all amazing. Our server was so sweet and on top of filling our waters, which was great for a post hike meal and service. The ambiance of this place was perfect. Definitely will be coming back since everything on the menu looked amazing.

Marissa B.

Yelp
Ambiance, service, quality of food, food options, ALL exceeded expectations. Service was attentive and personalized. We hadn't been in before and were given a full rundown of the menu & the specials. The ambience was like lord of the rings meets dive bar, but in a way that somehow worked? Menu was fullll of variety. The food came out promptly and was delishhhh even with a full house. *Nacho Supreme: 10/10. Only would suggest dicing those massive jalapeños because eating one whole leaves some serious pain lol. Otherwise, soooo good and spicy. *Falafel Wrap: 9/10. Kind of small but good. Homemade tzatziki slapped and side of chips were worth it. *Spicy Mac: 10/10. Best vegan Mac I've had, with a solid kick of spice. Would not hesitate to come back!!!

Yelp
Service was wonderful. Facility is lovely, especially the dog-friendly patio. Love the mission and concept. The food, however, was nothing to write home about. Maybe we're spoiled with the large variety of vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Houston so the curry and philly sandwich we ordered didn't match our expectations.

Yelp
My last day in Colorado Springs I decided my husband and I would eat here for a lunch. I wanted something hardy that could meet my dietary needs. This place is all planted based and had many gluten free options. They even have Holidaily GF beer!! When we first walked in the place was busy with minimal staff. We got our lunch maybe after 45 minutes. The waitress let us know what was going on but we had a little bit of a time restriction. My husband had the Reuben and he was like it was just okay with a weird after taste. I got the nachos and they were super soggy. I did love the interior inside but not a fan of the food and or the wait

Laura C.

Yelp
I'm on the fence between 2 and 3 stars. Service was great for the two of us, she kept checking in with us. Veggie tray appetizer was great! The fake meat tacos were just ok, wouldn't get again. The main reason I'm not in a hurry to return is the CONSTANT opening of the door to the enclosed smoker patio! It's been a long time since I've seen so many cigarette smokers. We sat near the door to avoid the front door and a cold breeze on a very cold night but instead every time the door opened to the patio, we got inundated with cigarette smoke. So strange that a place that appears to want to have healthy and vegan food caters to smokers. It's way too close to the building and attached, and these people come back in and absolutely reek. I haven't been around that much cigarette smoke in a long time.

Yelp
Outstanding! Had lunch here for the first time, while visiting Colorado Springs, and everything about the visit was amazing! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. There is an extensive menu, and everything on the menu is vegan! It was really difficult to decide what to try. We ordered chips and cheese sauce as an appetizer, the Caesar salad, soup of the day, and a taco bowl. Everything was sooo good! Plus, they have an amazingly delicious ginger beer! Indoor and outdoor seating available. Highly recommend!

Brittani A.

Yelp
The Vegan Spot! Vegan comfort food, beers, margaritas! All my favorite things to partake in this place has it . The staff is also super friendly. Hands down some of the best Mac & Cheese I've had at a vegan restaurant too. I also come in wanting to try something new, but I'm always pulled back in to the Mac & Cheese. ITS LITERALLY that good . They also have "specials" everyday of the week. I've been here before but never wrote a review . So this time I decided to do so... I got the Taco Salad , Rum and Sparkling Water, and Sloppy Mac. I also got the Air Fried Chimichanga to go. Overall GREAT picks ! The Chimi did seem more like a grilled burrito than an "Air Fried" Chimichanga, but it was still good. They mix the Queso and peppers together when ordering to go just an FYI. Definitely coming back though anytime I'm in Colorado.

Shalamar O.

Yelp
The menu is extensive for a vegan joint! Their allergen menu is so considerable. There are so many options, and modifications for soy/nut/gluten allergies. I had the Spicy Mac & Cheese with the Chickpea-Turmeric soup of the day! I was satisfied and satiated. The service is laid back, kind, and thorough. The ambiance cool, and eclectic. The music was super groovy. Two thumbs up.

Yelp
We were on the way to the Cheyenne Mtn Zoo and were looking for a spot to eat lunch and saw the Burrowing Owl pop up on our map. What a cool little place! And super close to the zoo. Everyone was so nice and helpful! We had some questions about the menu and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us make decisions. My husband got the daily special which was a crunch wrap, he really loved it! He said it was way better than Taco Bell, haha. I got the Messy Sloppy (sloppy Joe) and it was equally delicious! The chickpea salad was fresh and tasty. I really appreciated the quality of all of the ingredients and the options for allergies and sensitivities. We sat on the outdoor patio so the kiddos could had some freedom to walk around, and it was perfect. The bathrooms were seriously the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a restaurant!!

Kariann S.

Yelp
I had some high hopes coming from out of town to try this restaurant, and the experience I received exceeded any hope I could have had. I visited the Burrowing Owl several times during my visit to get a full taste of their offerings--not one order was disappointing! I highly recommend the nachos (any!), Fresh Veggie Wrap, and cake for food and the Blueberry Velvet, Strawberry Fields, and Adult Chocolate Milk for drinks. The service was just wonderful. Every server we had was well-versed in the restaurant's offerings and background. Matt and Jen especially made our visits truly special. We left armed with beer koozies as souvenirs (as well as purchased merch: a crop top, sticker, and pin). The atmosphere was unmatched giving a sense of community (and a supply of games!). Will be finding a reason to come back to the Springs for another round!

Yelp
My Perfect Meal: Wrappers Delight + side of Spicy Mac + side of kale walnut spread + jalapeno hot sauce Supplement wrap with walnut kale spread and hot sauce. + sweetened lemon green tea to wash it down = The Perfect Meal But be careful. It's like crack. You might become addicted.

Happy Vegan T.

Yelp
We are vegan, visiting my non vegan family, from out of town. We come here often when we are here. The food is good, the ambiance is relaxing, and the service is always spectacular. The BLT and desserts are always huge hits with my non vegan fam. The cheese is a little controversial, though. Both the vegans and non vegans were split. Me (vegan), my mom and my brother (non vegans) didn't care for it much. My honey (vegan) and my dad (non vegan) liked it. Regardless of the cheese, the rest of the food is great, and we plan to come each time we're in Colorado Springs.

Yelp
From menu seems like a great vegan place. Two steps inside was not very welcoming. Staff was really iffy on where we could sit. We were a party of six. They said either a high top that seated six or a table that seated five and we could squeeze in, we asked about two four tops and server was kinda rude about it and finally said we could sit at those two tables. No other customers were inside the place except maybe five people sitting at the bar. So the entire restaurant was empty. It was really confusing when two ladies walked in they let them know they could sit anywhere and the two ladies chose the table that seats five ‍. For the food: It is all low quality food that the warm up in essentially crock pots. I don't believe they have any other cooking equipment in the kitchen so menu is very limited to what they can even offer. The menu is all the same ingredients used in different menu items. The most appetizing items are the daily specials but you can not get em till 5:00. And they mean 5:00. Tried to order the Reuben at 4:56 and server was rude about it but then finally allowed the order to go through as it was going to take her a few minutes to even get order to "kitchen" Reuben was some type of vegan turkey?? Most Reuben's are a pastrami or corned beef. It was served on a very small pretzel bun and about 8 slices of vegan turkey with kraut and 1000island. Maybe 2/10 Philly cheese steak was made with crumbles?? This makes no sense at all?? And was not good 0/10 Salads looked alright, although my daughter did get sick after eating hers. 1/10 Most beer is served in cans and nope.... Not gonna get a frosty mug with them either. I would definitely figure out why staff is so rude if the owner wants this place to keep alive. 120$ for bad service and mediocre vegan food should not last. A few changes and this could be a really great place to eat and hang out.

Truett L.

Yelp
If I lived in Colorado Springs, I would frequent this establishment often. This place had a wonderful atmosphere and a great staff! We got the soup and salad combo and the soup was delicious. A mexican street corner chowder. There are games to play and so one coup spend a couple of hours hanging out with friends. Also very close to the zoo and seven falls.

Lissett L.

Yelp
Service was good Food was NOT Tocos and burritos not worth the price Ambiance was nice

Nessim M.

Yelp
Super nice spot food was amazing and nice little hang out spot definitely recommend. Try their Mac and cheese and nachos!! Super yummy and feeling

Seth N.

Yelp
I low key love this place. Went like two years ago and enjoyed my time there even more on the recent visit. The food was pretty good when I had it. I only had a few drinks this time. It was not packed when I went and the service was very friendly and attentive. I'll go again

Prakriti K.

Yelp
Chanced upon this place on yelp while looking for a quick take out spot! Fabulous vegan place with a unique menu! We got their Sloppy Mac, Thai Red Curry Bowl, Fire island tacos and carrot cake (gluten free). The sloppy mac was the best, super flavorful! The thai curry bowl was yum and filling! The tacos were a bit bland despite being 'fire island'! But the carrot cake was perfect and felt good! Unfortunately they didn't have burritos or their most recommended crunch wrap! Beautiful rustic setup! Feels like a Hogsmeade cafe (If you're a HP fan!)

Neesha P.

Yelp
Amazing vegan find! I ordered the Monday special, Crunchwrap. My dad ordered the supreme burrito. Both were delicious. Unfortunately my dad didn't like the meaty texture of the taco mix, BUT service was so good they made him another burrito without the taco mix. So if you have someone that doesn't like meaty texture, maybe request to taste the mix before ordering it.

Monique K.

Yelp
Simply THE BEST VEGAN meal we've had. Wow. Even our 1.5y/o daughter loved her meal. If we lived in Colorado Springs we'd be here weekly.

Amnon ..

Yelp
Two stars for the service and atmosphere however very disappointing food experience. We were on our way north and stopped there based on the reviews. My wife is Vegan, cooks her own meals at home, and although I am not, I often join her for her type of meals. We ordered several dishes, none was more than average in taste.

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
I was excited to try burrowing owl when I found out it was a completely vegan restaurant! The menu is unique and they have a variety of options from salads, wraps, burritos/tacos, bowls & specials. The special last night was a vegan version of the Taco Bell crunch wrap which seemed to be very popular. I tried the Christmas burrito that was full of rice, beans, guacamole, ranch and topped with salsa. It was huge and very flavorful! I also got a side of chips and salsa which added a perfect crunch on the side. This restaurant definitely has a lot of "imitation" dishes such as nachos or other dishes that are made with meat/dairy. I usually just go for more plant based food with veggies and tofu but there are a variety of options here so it's worth checking out regardless of your preferences!

John S.

Yelp
Martin and Matt are the tits! Bathrooms are amazing! Best place to relax and get a drink!

Donna D.

Yelp
This place is so cool. My husband is a vegetarian so we have wanted to try this restaurant and I'm so glad we did. The ambiance is so great. The service was excellent. The food was unbelievable. I had the sloppy Mac and it was so "cheesy." My daughter had a kids Mac and didn't appear to notice anything different about it. My husband had the nachos supreme. We were all very happy.

Dr Joanne C.

Yelp
Delicious vegan food, service was great and desserts incredibly yummy. E we'll return next time we are in MS.

Corky S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Vintage beer signs, cool artwork and great vegan food - what's not to love?

Marilyn E.

Yelp
Suuuuuuper yummy place. We tried a bunch of drinks as for me the winner is the adult chocolate milk. You can't even taste the alcohol until bam it hits you and you start acting like a child bahaha and the food was good too. Crunchwraps and mac and cheese made good leftovers as well. Definitely a place we go to every time we pass by in colorado even if it takes us on a two hour detour haha

Rachelle R.

Yelp
I've been coming to burrowing work for 8 years now. I will always stand behind this place! The food has NEVER disappointed me. My tops two favorite things are the sloppy Mac or the serious nachos. The vegan cheese is insanely good and my non vegan family cannot tell the difference. The iced green tea is so addictive like I will never find green tea like this anywhere else it's sooooooo refreshing. The atmosphere is so cozy. The bar is made from trees from the black Forrest fire. The have beer signs everywhere , books , and hidden owls. The service is always incredible the staff is so welcoming. They feel like family to me. This business also always helps out and donates to the community and is just run by a very sweet and wholesome family. You have to come here!

Chelsea O.

Yelp
Awesome service and delicious food (nachos were top notch!)! Loved the environment and the message. Would visit again!

Steven O.

Yelp
Love it! The food was plentiful and very tasty, and the soup was a showstopper. Even my meat eating partner enjoyed it! The service was friendly and helpful. Even though it was our first time at the restaurant, the server made us feel like regular. Lunch time got pretty busy! Love the ambience; all the natural looking wood gave a very warm and comforting, feeling, just add a cup of hot tea, and it doesn't get much better than that! Only wish I would've had room for dessert - I look forward to it on our next visit to Colorado Springs.

Missy G.

Yelp
Excellent, friendly staff, fun atmosphere. First time we picked up food to go for a weekend in the mountains. The Caesar wrap, bread & spread, Caesar salad, chocolate strawberry cake and ding dong cake were all excellent. On our way home we stopped for lunch enjoying the 7 layer dip, Caesar wrap, Monday's special crunch wrap and the Peanut Butter Shell cupcake. The adult chocolate milk was a great cocktail. Will definitely be back!

Mindless D.

Yelp
I am not Vegan by any means but if I were I would definitely come here. It was pretty late when I came but lucky they are open past 11pm. Since it was so late I decided to keep it light. I sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender who was delightful. He made me a great drink and then I ordered food. For food I got the red curry which was simply delicious. Very flavorful and hearty with the rice and chickpeas. Overall I enjoyed the chill vibes here and the food!

Nic P.

Yelp
I looooove that this place is totally vegan and open late at night. I have to say my food wasn't spectacular, a little salty, and my gluten free pasta was on the Al dente/raw side, but they had a lot of great options for vegan + gluten free. I was also grateful for a patio that allows dogs, because I go everywhere with my dog. I wasn't impressed by the smoking on the patio. I would have thought vegans were a bit more health and environment conscious than that. I come from a city where smoking outside of your own house is not allowed, but I guess smoking is still a thing in Colorado Springs. The service was good, servers were friendly and obviously on the quirky side along with the music. Thanks for offering vegan options to the planet.

George H.

Yelp
The decor and vibe were pretty groovy. Had bean soup, and beans rice and avocado. Both were really good but for my taste they relied to much on salt. The servers did a good job and were dressed hipster cool. Good food and I had fun.

Gira B.

Yelp
Excellent food! Best Taco Salad I ever had! Do not skip this place if you are in Colorado Springs area!

Veggie P.

Yelp
Yes, vegan!! Fabulous vibe! Delicious fresh vegan food. So glad to discover this place.

Michelle B.

Yelp
The server was very knowledgeable and truly cared about the food allergies my friend had. The setting is very hip. Great place to grab a bite or drink. Will go back!

Angela R.

Yelp
Interesting place, ambiance and especially the food! Delicious Vegan and vegetarian cuisine! And with a full bar! Will return!

Premila M.

Yelp
We read the great reviews and really wanted to try this place! The service and staff were good, very quick and efficient. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, small corner place which is cute. The food though was disappointing for us. It was salty and barely any flavor. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the supreme burrito and neither was impressive. Also they do not have high chairs so if you going there with children just be prepared!

Eilen S.

Yelp
We were in the area because we spent the day at the zoo and decided on a vegan lunch. This spot is highly rated so we had high expectations and it honestly did not disappoint. From the outside it does not look like much but on the inside this place was so cute - perfect for a date. Based on the vibes - it seemed like a cool, local hangout spot- they have a back patio section which is covered and allows for smoking. We really wanted to try the crunchwrap but discovered that it is only available after 5pm on the weekends- so we opted for the soup of the day which was delicious (I don't recall the exact name but it was something with lemongrass in it perhaps) and they have an option of adding pasta to your soup which made it a delicious, filling and hearty meal. We also had coffee which they only have french press and it was THE MOST DELICIOUS COFFEE IVE EVER HAD. Lastly - we shared some vegan tacos. Do not judge me on this strange ass combination of things. Everything was absolutely delicious and we had no regrets. The service was also top knotch

Adrienne B.

Yelp
I was in Colorado Springs for work and stopped in to have dinner before heading back to Denver. I really liked the cosy vibe with old beer signs, natural wood and thrifted items. I had a fall spiced pear kombucha which was really good. I also ordered posole, spicy mac and cheese and the peach upside down cake for dessert. The posole and spicy mac were both very tasty. The portions aren't large which gives you the opportunity to try a few things. The prices were also very reasonable. I was also extremely impressed with the fast and courteous services I received.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Super cute decor and I love the fact that they are open every day of the week except Memorial Day and open late! Service was also very friendly. The food didn't really stand out for me but my best friend (who is vegan and the reason for the visit) was super happy with her food.

Ariella W.

Yelp
I love this place! it is eclectic and local. they have wonderful service and great food! Anytime I come to colorado springs, this is a must go to spot! They just recently changed up their menu. But everything is still awesome. They have on tap kombucha with different flavors depending on when you go. I always get some kombucha when i go. Recently i tried a chocolate orange kombucha and it was so yummy! They have a big menu of beer/alcohol as well. They have daily specials which is cool. Some of the stuff is not on their regular menu. A friend of mine got their vegan crunch wrap and she absolutely loved it! the chips and queso is so good. Recommend trying it out! We also tried the chips and cheezy beans and seven layer dip when there recently. The restaurant is vegan but i have brought meat eaters here and everyone has loved it. Gluten free? They have plenty of options for you!

Daria M.

Yelp
Traveled to The Burrowing Owl for a late dinner due to some great reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed! It's a very relaxed place, vegan, friendly staff, and delicious food and drinks! I had tomato bisque soup and the coconut curry bowl. Both delicious and large servings. Though I was alone, I saw many couples and families there. Welcoming and relaxing! I highly recommend this place! Thanks to all the staff who made me feel right at home!

P. J.

Yelp
Everyone is always super friendly and helpful. I've ordered a handful of things and all the food is delicious. Great drink menu, too. The interior is super fun and I make a point to bring out of state friends to this spot. It's always a great time and everyone loves what they order. They can do all kinds of accommodations for allergies, too. If you stop by definitely try one of their mac n cheeses.

Adrienne A.

Yelp
Amazing all around experience. The outside of building looks a bit nondescript, but the inside is a feast for the eyes. Food was yummy, service was excellent, ambiance was the best. Highly recommend going with friends.
