Charlie Palmer Steak and Other D.C. Restaurant Closures to Know - Eater DC

"That’s a wrap for Butter Me Up, the pandemic-born breakfast offshoot of Shaw’s all-day sausage staple HalfSmoke. The 2-year-old space that resembled a chic hotel lobby showcased breakfast tacos, acai bowls, fried Oreo pancakes, buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, and creative cocktails at night. Online ordering remains active, and a new location will be announced soon." - Tierney Plumb

Butter Me Up - Review - Logan Circle - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Butter Me Up is a charming cafe in Logan Circle that's a solid, calm spot to work from on weekday mornings. Inside, you’ll be surrounded by shades of coral and peach, a luxe pink velvet couch, yellow tabletop, and bar seats. Their breakfast menu has an array of sandwiches, including the Feels Like Home, an egg and buttermilk fried chicken sandwich that tastes as good as it sounds. The biscuit is flaky, the chicken is crispy, and together you get the kind of sandwich that motivates you to do something with your life. While you can do take out, we don't recommend it since orders can take a while. Instead, bring your laptop and settle in with a coffee or smoothie, a choice you won’t regret." - Omnia Saed

Cocktails Are Coming in Hot, Just in Time for Winter in D.C.

"This upscale U Street bar with a cozy interior melds sweet and umami in its “Butter Me Up” ($12) cocktail. Guests choose between brandy or dark rum, which is paired with browned miso butter, Amaretto, and brown sugar. A lit cinnamon stick rounds out the drink." - Emily Wishingrad

HalfSmoke’s Hit Pop-Up for Breakfast Sandwiches Named After Memes Will Get Its Own Shop - Eater DC

"Butter Me Up, formerly a ghost kitchen offshoot of HalfSmoke, is transitioning to a dedicated restaurant space at 1409 T Street NW. The new location will feature an expanded menu with breakfast tacos, acai bowls, and fried Oreo pancakes, alongside a drink menu with fresh juices, kombucha, coffee, and tea from local Black-owned businesses. The restaurant will incorporate local ingredients and offer playful, meme-inspired menu names. The move addresses the overwhelming demand that outgrew its initial kitchen setup and aims to capitalize on delivery and pickup services." - Adele Chapin

I recently dined at Butter Me Up and had an exceptional experience. Casey and Sara provided excellent service, being both timely and kind throughout the meal. The food was outstanding – fresh, hot, and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Aunt Jemima Sammie, which was to die for. Additionally, Sara went above and beyond to accommodate my allergy, ensuring that my food was cooked separately to avoid any cross-contamination with cheese. Overall, I highly recommend Butter Me Up for its impeccable service and delicious menu options.

Google
Butter Me Up has been on my list of places to try for great breakfast/brunch in DC for about a year. My colleagues and I wanted a nice breakfast this AM a s decided to give Butter Me Up a Try and I’m so glad we did! It was good! We did a delivery order that included sweet and savory tater tots; the bestie breakfast sandwich; banana toast and the staycation, which was a scrambled egg with goat cheese, avocados and a chipotle mayo that gave it a little kick. The breakfast sandwich was served on the softest, most buttery brioche. The sandwich was so hearty and fluffy, I had to eat with a fork and knife. Butter Me Up has a variety of breakfast sandwiches, avocado toasts and sides. I would definitely like to go there the next time I’m in the Shaw area for brunch. Butter Me Up would be a great choice for breakfast or brunch.

Incredible experience in the heart of DC and just a short walk from the U Street metro! Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Highly recommend the mac & cheese bites as an appetizer, they come out very creamy and pair super well with the pesto sauce that comes out. Very well priced, especially for the location, portions, and quality!

Google
I found this place on TikTok. The food was delicious! My friends and I enjoyed the healthy breakfast menu. We also liked the decor of the venue. The hostess/waiter was really nice and helped accommodate our issues. We have 2 areas of improvement for the business. 1. The rug needs to be replaced. We ended up moving tables since we could not stand the filth of the rug near the couch area. We would have left but we ordered our food prior to seeing the rug. 2. The one hostess was overworked. Essentially, we saw the hostess become the waiter for multiple tables. The waiters were not working at all. The business needs to have a host stand and have the host stay at the stand the entire duration. There were potential customers who left the restaurant since the host was running around being a waiter since the waiters were not working.

Went in on Sunday to grab some lunch and do some work. First alot of the drinks I wanted to order were unavailable but the server expressed that they had a party the day before so that was understandable. Then when my food arrived, Two out of the three items I ordered were not edible. French toast was so cold and tasted like straight bread with 1/10 of it coated with sugar. Then the chicken in my sandwich was undercooked. The potatoes with peppers were pretty good though. While all of that was happening the manager was downing champagnes and coronas non stop with her friends in front of me. Just terrible and waste of money. I am assuming I just went on a bad day with poor management. I will give it a try again in the future bc it has so much potential and the server was very kind.

Google
I had the chance to visit Butter me up! This place is so cute! Although small they really made a great use of their space. I like how you’re able to order and pay through the website. The food was quite tasty however a few of our items came out cold. I only saw our server one time (when he sat us and told us about the online ordering) so we had to flag other people down for needs like water refill, warm my food up, etc. The drinks were also good but took a while for them to come out. The staff was super friendly and nice so that was a plus. I would totally go back again.

This is the perfect little place tucked right in near the Logan circle. The food and cocktails are amazing! The restaurant is embellished in girly decor, so it’s precious for pictures! The customer service was also fantastic. Our server, Sara, was very kind and accommodating too! & food is in large portions! We will be visiting again soon!

Saw this place on tiktok. Reserved a table days ago just to arrive and learn that there aren’t enough seats. Be prepared to lose a seat even if you reserved ahead (and the reservation went through). Almost everything was out of stock: All the salads, power bowls, juices. So also be prepared to not order anything you wanted to order from their website. The food however, was pretty good. And service was fast. The tater tots are crispy and seasoned, the eggs were creamy but fluffy, and the drinks (though looking nothing like the menu pictures) we’re refreshing. I wouldn’t go here again, but it’s a nice place to try out if you're curious.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was excellent! Ambiance is the definition of picture worthy. Seating is a little sparse, but if you get a window seat it's great for people watching and vibing out.

Yelp
We were looking for breakfast so we ordered online then walked here for pickup. It was empty that early in the morning for a weekday. Maybe one person dining in while lots of take out orders. My friends got the Bestie and Happy Ending, while I got a smoothie bowl, The Berry Bomb. The smoothie bowl was pretty generous in the amount! It took me two days to finish. Everything tasted fresh and the granola added a nice crunchy texture. One of my friends just wanted tots. Delicious and seasoned well! My friends liked their food too! The breakfast sandwiches looked a bit cooler online but in person, they looked a bit more basic.. not a bad thing but interesting to note. They also have juices on the menu, so my friend got the kale yeah. I'm glad to see restaurants with healthy options! One of my friends got a side of fruit which came with a large cup with filled with a variety of fruit! Especially if you're not trying to eat anything too heavy.

Yelp
When you first walk in you can see how instagramable this place is. From the light pink decor to the wallpaper to the perfectly placed mirrors, it is very well decorated. I came just at opening on a Thursday and the staff warmly greeted me. They were, unfortunately out of cold brew, so I had an iced Americano instead which was good. Where they hooked me was with the Bestie breakfast sandwich. It was a brioche bun with perfectly seasoned eggs, bacon, cheese and siracha mayo (I swapped that in over the chipotle ketchup!). It came in a heart bowl, which was cute for pictures but less practical for eating - though I made it work and at every last bite! I'll definitely be back, maybe on a weekend when it's a bit more lively and I can get a mimosa too!!

Yelp
We came to Butter Me Up before we visited the Museum of the Bible. I made a reservation prior and was running a little late, but when we walked in were just told to sit anywhere we wanted. The inside is simple but with a few photogenic spots in the front. I ordered the Butterfly Me Up which was Gin, Sparkling Wine, Butter Fly Pea Flower Syrup, and Lemon Juice. I appreciated the size of the glass it came in and the balance of the flavors. My girlfriend ordered an Espresso Martini, and she liked how well-made it was. We both ordered a Spring skillet and let me tell you how we devoured both of them (she took a very small portion home). My breakfast for lunch came with Red potatoes, over easy egg, turkey sausage, onions, peppers, and shredded parmesan cheese. The flavor and seasoning were off-the-charts delicious. I savored every bite! Oh yeah, the sweet potato tots with marshmallow dipping sauce are a game-changer! So uniquely delicious. This needs to be a staple if you visit DC.

Yelp
The location was super nice and the prices were even nicer. Perfect spot for a cheap & cute brunch with the girls. The service was not the best when we went-- they were out of the ingredients to make the drinks that we wanted, and the frankensteined remix they made up to replace them were not the same. One of my friend swears by this place though, and I would be willing to try them again!

Yelp
Don't waste your time coming here. Extremely disappointed with the service and the food. We are the only ones in the place and it took forever to get our food and drinks. Our drinks tasted horribly, my husband ordered the limade and I ordered a vanilla latte. We sent back the limade bc it was disgusting. The latte didn't have any coffee taste, and the waiter poured the vanilla flavor when he brought the drink bc he forgot to add it. We didn't get our drinks until we were done with our food. When we came in the waiter asked us what we wanted, we had no idea where the menu was and then one of the girls said oh sorry it's on the table. The floors were dirty with napkins on the floor. Being the only people here it should be spotless, not sure what the two hosts are doing. The two managers are just sitting there while the one server takes care of everything.

Yelp
It was a little hard to see from the outside. I don't remember the signage being very noticeable. We actually thought it was closed. When we walked in, everything was so cute! I loved the vibes and they were playing r&b. I ordered the Easy like Sunday which came with turkey sausage. We ordered a side of tater tots and a fruit bowl for my daughter. The Sammie was buttery but the turkey sausage taste very fake. The tater tots were good tho! I also ordered a iced caramel macchiato that I really enjoyed. Customer services was normal.

Yelp
I loved this place. The plateware was cute and the food was great. My boyfriend and I had the skillet dishes, which were really flavorful. The staff was nice and the atmosphere was bright and festive.

Yelp
Butter Me Up is an excellent spot to start your day off with! Upon entering, the ambiance is really nice and gives a great feel of going to a nice spot for brunch with friends and being able to enjoy a great meal and hang out. There are several places to be seated and the customer service is pretty good! The menu is a wide selection of options available for anyone really! From bacon, eggs, and turkey sausage, to a lovely toast with smoked salmon, the choice is yours and you will not be disappointed! And take a look at the pics, the food taste just as good as it looks!

Yelp
Absolutely do not recommend. Have tried this place twice. First time, we just wanted some coffee & breakfast - had made a reservation, but they were completely confused on where to seat us (even though the restaurant - indoors & outdoors) was empty. It took over 45 minutes just to get our coffees (one of which was just a cold brew...) and then almost another hour to get our food. Some of the worst service I've ever seen. Again, the restaurant was mostly empty, so it is not like they were slammed with customers. Second time, they were sold out of iced lattes (around 9:15am on a weekday). How does a place that claims to specialize in breakfast/brunch run out of a basic iced latte? Don't waste your time here - there are other breakfast options nearby where you don't have to spend half your day or worry about not getting what you ordered.

Yelp
I want to like this place, but there isn't too many redeeming factors about the overall experience. The restaurant is certainly a good looking one, but it goes downhill from there. My party of three was seated at an incredibly small table - to the point where it was kind of uncomfortable. By the time we got our plates (which were practically touching), we really didn't have any real estate to put something like our phones on the table if we even wanted to. This also might be an unpopular opinion, but some tracks played on the speaker were far too loud for a breakfast/brunch experience. It just made conversing with people extremely difficult in general. Service is gonna be slow. I don't think we came in at an incredibly hectic time, but service time was probably around 40 minutes for everyone at my table to get their food after order placement. The sandwiches weren't bad, but doesn't shine the way it should for a breakfast specialty restaurant should. I got the maple pancake sandwich which was a fun gimmic that I enjoyed, but probably won't order again. The french toast, however, was lower than expectations and would recommend avoiding it. It's just too doughy, not warm, and felt arduous to eat even with syrup. Perhaps I got unlucky with my visit. I'd be down to try it again if a friend tells me they had a good time there because again, I want to like this place.

Yelp
Just ordered from here this morning and I am full! I did order through DoorDash and the food was still warm once it arrived. I ordered the tater tots and "ain't jemima" sandwich, which is a bacon egg and cheese between two maple pancakes. My opinion is that the pancakes were a little to thick for my liking. It almost made the sandwich dry. Some accompanying syrup may help! But everything else was yummy. The tater tots were perfectly crispy.

Yelp
To start my mom and I enjoyed Mimosas and Old Fashions. The mimosas are made with my fave champagne Veuve Clicquot. I had a pineapple and cranberry one. The old fashions were strong and worth every penny. My mom enjoyed the Ain't Jemima minus the bacon. Paired with some syrup it was one for the ages. I ordered the Staycation. The fresh ingredients were by far the best part about the meal. I also had the French toast. It really made me happy to enjoy these French toast sticks. They really gave me the sense of home. My mom made the best French toast. These were so darn close I almost ordered more to go. I also ordered an expresso martini and 2 Irish coffee's to end the lunch date. The coffee was super fresh again all the ingredients were top tier. I had an amazing lunch here and I am excited to return. The best part about our visit was the service. Being able to order online was super convenient. But the service was BEYOND amazing. Dominique, was such a great addition to the team. She was very attentive, created a really good ambiance and was so warm and welcoming. Her personality is one that draws you in and makes you want to come back to experience her light again. She's an amazing asset to the team. We will be back. Thanks Dominique for setting the tone. Overall, I give Butter Me Up a score of 15/10 because they went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our lunch. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Yelp
I've wanted to try this spot for a long time! It's a huge space with plenty of room inside and a small seating area outside too. Super cute aesthetic too-from the heart shaped plates to the veuve mirror to the artsy shed decor. Definitely "ig-worthy!" Right off busy 14th St, they've got a wide assortment of food - from açaí bowls to toasts to salads. They've got coffees, alcoholic drinks, and smoothies. The vibes were pretty quiet and dead inside, but the food was good overall and I would like to come back with a larger group!
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
Good food, cute but could use improvements. The inside was empty at 10am on Sunday for brunch and yet it took a good bit for a host to come to the front to seat us. The round tables are so small, fitting 3 people is a stretch. The heart shaped plates and bowls are cute but very impractical for entrees and sandwiches. The food was good as was the service once seated. Their version of chicken and waffles was delicious and the tots were classic.

Yelp
This review is for takeout and not dine in...I'll enjoy that experience soon. Let's cozy up and jump to the order...I decided to order on Ubereats and the preparation time was actually really good and they packaged my order with care. Not pictured, seasonal coffee which was carefully packaged with the opening sealed, I truly appreciated that. I ordered the Ain't Jemima, Tater tots and coffee. Let's dive in: the Ain't Jemima contained griddle cakes, fried eggs, cheddar cheese and bacon. The griddle cakes were actually very buttery and so delicious that I could have ate it by itself. The eggs were prepared well but a little on the runny side, hence why I didn't give full stars. The bacon, nothing major, I had 2 strips and that was enough. The star of this show however were the griddle cakes because of the buttery/maple taste. Now, contrary to what others say, they aren't fluffy at all and were a little more on the heavier side. The next stellar item were the tater tots...my goodness! I've never had such perfectly seasoned tater tots which required NO sauces but simply a place in my tummy's heart lol Coffee: I wasn't happy with my coffee because it was a little on the burnt side and lacked flavor. Overall, I think if a place can pull off takeout, they'll be worth me visiting in person. I'll be there soon! Looks like I need to try another items with those tater tots and probably explore one of their speciality drinks...no coffee for me! Pricing: I ordered through a delivery app and I know that they tend to increase the prices more than they would in the store. With this, I still paid less than $25 for the entire order with taxes!

Yelp
I love this place. I've been ordering from them via Uber eats before I actually knew they were located 5 minutes from my job. Today I went inside and it's very clean and beautifully decorated. Also, black owned. The food has always been delicious & it was today. This is a great spot for you and your girls to go and brunch or even to grab a quick breakfast with your boo. They have a great menu with items such as Mac and cheese bites, Sammie's, açaí bowls, cold and hot coffee, juices, teas and adult beverages. Also, the music was good vibes. I loved all the feels and can't wait to visit again with my girls. I give them a 10/10!

Yelp
Very cute place with an amazing vibe. Food was great. Staff was super nice. Ordered a large order and everything was right! Went back on Sunday and all my dreams fell apart. Slow service. Others that came in after got meal before me after waiting over 40 mins. They had the exact plate I ordered. I know because I asked. Not sure what went wrong. Place was more busy than the previous time but had my hopes on a repeat. We sat down at the bar top area and it was not a carry out. Food was still amazing and drinks were too. My sister espresso never came. The atmosphere was just off! I really want to love this place but consistency is not there.

Yelp
First time here and it was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing and the drinks as well! I had gotten the Love On Top and the Strawberry Açaí lemonade with a side of French toast. Now, we did have to wait a little for our food due to the amount of people inside but, we did get seated fast. The entire area was so beautifully decorated! Thor was no music playing but with or without music is fine with me !

Yelp
Well, butter my butt & call me biscuit! Butter Me Up has a new location. Perfect for a Brekkie meetup with your friends! Or even an Evening refresher. Thanks so much for having us! When it comes to this food...What can we say? Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs . Those Mac & Cheese bites + Feels Like Home!! Delicious! ! Let's get into this food because we legit cannot get over the Feels Like Home Sammie & those Mac + Cheese bites! I've heard people rave about BMU's food. Until you try it for yourself...you'll never know. Drinks around here slang all day too! Whether you want to order a latte, mimosa, an espresso (sub rum- you won't regret it!) or one of their signature cocktails.

Yelp
*PROS: The ambience was gorgeous (very picturesque for the 'gram). Our food was fresh, made to order and delicious. I like the mixture of healthy and savory options, as well as a variety of drinks both alcoholic and non. Finish your meal with a latte, you'll love it!! *CONS: not suitable for large groups (I went with one other person). There was NO SERVER taking orders. We were directed to order and pay for our food on the website, so if you needed to add something to your order (for example, your forgot to add a coffee) go BACK to the website, order, check out and pay again. It was slightly inconvenient to do that for a party of 2, I couldn't imagine doing it for a larger group. *OVERALL: I'd go again and keep it lowkey like the first time.

Yelp
An unfortunate case of style over substance. Butter Me Up spent a little too much time planning their interior design rather than thinking about how to serve customers I came here with a group of five, and we immediately sat down at a table that can seat six. The place was about 80% full so the thought didn't even cross our mind that we'd be in for a long wait Because there's no server we all ordered separately off of the website. Our food came out one by one, so far apart that no two people were eating at the same time even though we all ordered at the same time. There was roughly an hour between the time the first and last dishes came out. Over the course of the hour, the staff stopped by several times to ask if we needed anything and when we said we were waiting on the sandwiches, we got the same "it should be out soon" response each time. It SHOULD gets old quick! We know it should, what we don't know is why it's not They really can't handle a group larger than 2, and they should change the layout to make it clear that it's not a brunch spot for a group. Right now they're trying to be a cafe and a brunch spot at the same time and they fail to execute that plan. The food itself is actually not that bad. It's definitely not worth the wait but it's solid. Same goes for the coffee - not strong enough for my liking but it's got good flavor. If they clean up their act then it would be a perfectly serviceable neighborhood spot. Unfortunately it's way too inconvenient and the experience was too negative for me to recommend it or want to return.

Yelp
If you are going to Butter Me Up for a party reservation or just in general - I'm about to give you a run down of the experience. My friend was celebrating her birthday this past weekend here and from the photos, I thought it was so cute and the menu looked great. Our invitation said to be there at 4 PM. Knowing myself, I also looked up the hours first and saw that they actually close at 4 PM but I figured okay after 4 must be for reserved parties only. My boyfriend and I showed up at 4 PM on the dot and we noticed some stares so we were wondering if we were supposed to be there...I was asked if we were there for a party and I said yes. The staff let me know that they close at 4 and then get everything set up by 4:30 for reserved parties so we could take a seat at the bar. The manager then came to us and said hey I know you guys are here but we cannot serve you or anything until set up is complete. I was totally okay with that, I just had no idea. Another girl showed up for the party as well and sat with us. While we waited we watched the already super cute, instagram photo worthy spot turn into a birthday ambiance. The decor was absolutely perfect and stunning. There were balloons everywhere and the online menu actually showed my friend's specially customized menu for her party. The manager asked us what kind of music the birthday girl liked and she was able to put on a Spotify playlist that was exactly the music we were looking to hear. I spoke with two ladies who worked there while I was admiring the place and they were so friendly and told me to "just wait until after 8 PM." They said the place is basically a club vibe with the lights off and loud music. Once 4:30 hit, the ladies were taking drink orders from us. I had the "Head Peach in Charge" and it was amazing. My boyfriend had ordered the "Screwdriver" but they gave him a "Tequila Sunrise" ...he drank it anyway. Once everyone started coming in, the spot filled up nicely. There was enough room for everyone and it wasn't cramped at all. We never experienced the "after 8 PM" club vibe though. We all were wondering when it would happen?? The thing that disappointed us was the service when it came down to food and drinks. Early on, my boyfriend had ordered the chicken sliders with no problem. Later on, we both put in orders for the chicken sliders and I had ordered another drink. The waitress was so sweet & it was only her second shift so I wasn't faulting her at all but it was about 4 different times she came to us asking if our food had come out and it had not. She told us multiple times that "she was so sorry, it should be right out" and I understood at first but after a few times I was like okay I'm hungry. I still had not gotten my drink either. My boyfriend just had them cancel his chicken sliders order because they forgot to put the order in. I waited because I hadn't eaten. When I finally got mine, they were actually really good. My drink also finally came and it was great too. My boyfriend's drink experience wasn't so great, though. After his first drink order was messed up, he went for a glass of Jameson with pineapple juice on the side. He got a half full glass of Jameson on ice the first time which was a good amount. The second time he ordered it, they gave him this small little shot glass of Jameson with pineapple juice on the side. He was so confused. So they ended up taking it and basically just pouring the little shot on ice for him. At that point he was pretty much over the food and drink service and wanted to go get food elsewhere. There's no denying how cute and cozy this spot is. It's definitely perfect for parties and hanging out with friends and taking nice photos, but the food service has GOT to improve. There were so many of my friends complaining about how their food hadn't come out either and some folks didn't find their food too good (the pizzas/flatbreads). This is a black owned business which I absolutely love and want to support so I hope they can improve this for better experiences in the future.

Yelp
Meal Type: Breakfast/Brunch Customer Service: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Vibe: 10/10 Decor: 10/10 - Picture Worthy The Mr. And I made our way to Butter Me Up on Sunday after Church. We arrived a bit early which was great because parking was slightly annoying. The atmosphere gave super comfy and cozy type of vibe. We requested the hot top tables but once seated we knew they were going to be slightly too small once our orders arrived. We asked to be moved over to the bar which they accommodated us without any issue even our food came to our new location even though we ordered at our original tables. Now let's get into this food!!! Not only did everything have really cute names but the food was absolutely delicious. Bae ordered some fresh pressed juice (Couples Therapy) and I got a Caramel Macchiato since I already had my coffee for the day. For our mains we snagged the Staycation and Breakfast in Bed. We then added the Tater Tots and Mac N Cheese Bites with pesto... Crazy sounding combo!! but ended being so good ... At this point we were eating with our eyes. Customer service was fantastic. Attention was paid!!! We were checked on so much that if we needed anything we didn't have to wait long or have to go and find anyone. Everyone we encountered was very pleasant and bubbly which always makes for a great experience. I definitely drop in here again for breakfast. Things to note: - Go for high top tables or bar seating -Parking is treacherous allow extra time for parking -They close at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday -You surf the menu, place your order, and pay immediately after placing order via QR code on your table we weren't really aware of that when seated and had to ask.

Yelp
While the lovely decor and heart-shaped plates are supremely Instagrammable, the tiny tables and backless stools are not conducive to comfort or long brunches. The sandwiches are a reasonable $12, and quite delicious, though they left me hungry. I might have preferred a sandwich with a side of potatoes or fruit something for a higher price (e.g., $15) rather than feeling hungry. The single sandwich would be the perfect to-go option, though. I had one cocktail for $15, which was hard to swallow given it was more than my entree, but it was truly delicious and the price is relatively on bar with other DC establishments with cocktails of that caliber. I can't remember the name of the drink but it was a passion fruit vanilla vodka shot and Prosecco shooter, which I highly recommend. The oddest thing is that there was really no service. You place your order and pay entirely on your phone and only see an individual when they bring you your food. It was confusing to figure this out for ourselves when we walked in, and was disappointing to have no one to ask questions of or recommendations. I also disliked have to select a tip when I ordered instead of at the end, particularly when we didn't really have waitstaff. At that point, just charge a service fee instead. I think the lack of service really downgrades the experience from luxury to cafe and makes the $15 cocktail more problematic. Comfier seating/tables and true table service would do this place wonders, though I have no complaints about the quality of the food and drink.

Yelp
Was there for a quick bachelorette brunch before leaving DC. Things were bad from the start. If you know the area you know finding parking is crazy. I tried calling the restaurant multiple times to ask what the grace period was and let them know we would be late. They never answered the phone. I even emailed them. The bride to be and another girl got there before the 20 min cut off which we were told about after we got there. So I am still confused how we weren't able to be seated right away. But I noticed all the tables were full already with groups eating. So even if we got there at our reservation time we still wouldn't have been able to be seated. Funny how the truth comes out when we are told by the waitress their systems were done and they wouldn't have been able to even see who had reservations. Our main waitress had an attitude the entire time. The only nice person was the lady that came and actually took our food order. The food is definitely the only thing keeping this restaurant open. But I would never go back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We literally only stayed because the bride to be didn't want to go anywhere else.

Yelp
Ambiance: the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. great scenery as well. for this place to be under a year of being opened they did a wonderful job with decor Service: the service was amazing. My waitress was knowledgeable and sweet. Drinks: the drinks are great! Super tasty Food: Severely disappointed. I ordered the happy ending, My turkey sausage was a mini turkey burger patty (there is a difference). The pancake portion was dry, hard and flavorless. I also ordered the mac n cheese bites ... hard pass; taste like rolled up kraft ‍.

Yelp
I have heard such great things so I wanted to give this space a try. My overalnexoerience was "meh" but okay. No one noticed me when I walked in with only two other customers in restaurant at that time. I kinda looked around for guidance and direction and just stood confused until I walked to the back and asked how to proceed. The person in the front has their back to you. That was odd. Food was fine but rather pricey. I also got a fresh juice drink, also fine. The trash people came and started throwing the bags out of the closet a few feet from me. That was a lot but whatever. Everything was just ok. Cute vibe.

Yelp
This isn't your typical sit and wait for your server type of place. You sit, order food through the site and it'll be brought to you. I love how easy it makes it to order and pay without hiccups. Don't worry though, you can also place an order through a person if you'd like! The sammies are soooooo good! The buns were so soft and fluffy. They didn't have a vegan "meat" option available at the time so I wasn't expecting to still love the sandwich as much as I did. I thought it was going to lack but it didn't. I can't wait to come back. The drinks are pretty but not the tastiest. I did, however, enjoy the espresso martini. The modern boho aesthic is cute! Lots of pink and yellow throughout the restaurant, decorated with plush seating and greenery.

Yelp
A super cute spot to grab breakfast all day everyday! The decor inside is fun and the staff is super friendly. The Bestie - A bit messy but I loved all of it. The soft scrambled egg was perfect and the chipotle ketchup added a nice kick. So In Love - Next level avocado toast First Kiss - I loved the poached peaches on top with the spicy honey Sweet Potato Tots - Delicious on their own and a fun treat with the marshmallow cream Mac N Cheese Bites - Could of been a bit more cheesy but I loved the Jalapeno Pesto sauce! This spot is definitely worth a try if you're looking for breakfast sandwiches or toasts. They have coffee and alcohol here too!

Yelp
I hate being this person on Yelp leaving a terrible review but I just left Butter Me Up after waiting for over an hour and still had not had my food served yet. We had a 1pm reservation, it took about 30 minutes to order drinks (after flagging down a server). They gave us the wrong drink order, then after about an hour and still not having our food we asked to pay. The manager then charged for me the completely wrong tab. There were two other tables in the same situation. Long story short I would not recommend for the following reasons... they were not organized, they were short staffed, and the also the quality of the food didn't seem great. I will surely not be back and would not recommend.

Yelp
Nope nope nope. We walked out without eating. Came in with a group of six for brunch. Right away, we find out they are out of a good number of things - INCLUDING COFFEE. OK, we'll survive. But then, once we've already ordered, we keep finding out one thing after the other they're out of - it was getting comical. By the time the first dish came out, we still had only gotten one drink. And I say the first dish because they did not come out at once - and the first dish was brought out, left at our table, then picked back up by the server to make sure it was actually for us, and then returned to our table. Gross. At this point we decided to just leave, having still only gotten one drink and one dish (the returned one). We were honestly pretty grossed out - the glass tables were streaky and kind of sticky and the air had a distinct stench of sewage that was making us feel nauseous. Not the brunch experience we were looking for. We ended up going next door for a lovely meal - and all felt the need to go to the bathroom and wash up before we ordered.

Yelp
We arrived at Butter me up planning to get breakfast. However, once we looked around and saw not one table had received food/drinks, we decided to just stick with coffee. Crazy that we tried to avoid what was clearly going to be a bad breakfast experience but nevertheless we got sucked into the Butter Me Up's orbit of ineptitude. The bald waiter was sweet and trying to do his best at a obviously mismanaged establishment. Two hours after we paid and left, we received another bill for four entrees we did not order. Tried to call the place, but no one answered. Luckily, we were nearby so we went in to see what was up. We were told we weren't charged but no one could provide a receipt/documentation to verify this despite our cooperation and providing information to help find it. The hostess scrolled back and forth and said that we just had to trust that we weren't paying for the meals of others for now. No one apologized for this inconvenience and it seemed like we were annoying them by asking. Would not recommend even for the smallest order.

Yelp
Very aesthetically pleasing breakfast spot! The decor is gorgeous and it's a fun atmosphere! They have QR service, and there's not much outdoor seating. Good sweet potato tots and fine breakfast sandwiches.

Yelp
Was called by the restaurant as we were on our way there that they were unable to honor our reservation. Why even take a reservation?? Super unprofessional.

Yelp
This place is a mess. Walked in with no reservation and was quickly sat on busy Sunday. Pleasantly surprised. But that was fleeting when we were sat and ignored for 20+ minutes. We were told that were super busy and ran out of food to make "brunch essentials" but a server would come back to take our drink order. No one came. We left after 30+ of waiting. Beware. Might be nice to look at in pictures, but the management and staff need some work.

Yelp
Butter me up has the cutest indoor space. I visited for an event for the social offices. It was a super fun night with great drinks. I definitely plan to try this place out for brunch!

Yelp
My friend and I went to this location this past weekend. We were able to sit immediately which was nice. Our server was nice and the food was delicious. I will say that we were in the restaurant for over two hours and we only had a party of two. The drinks didn't come until 25 minutes after we sat down and it was just the smoothie. (Delicious though lol) The server also never came by and after 45 minutes I stood up and asked a different server to give me my check because she was in the back chilling and I didn't want to bother her scrolling. We of course tipped her well because food service is no joke but will not be going back. It wasn't busy and there was really no reason to be waiting that long for a pancake sandwich.

Yelp
Just had a great start my day breakfast at Butter Me Up. It's been an interesting am and I'm so glad I took time to do this. Marian helped me out today. Outstanding service. Very patient as I was a bit discombobulated with things when I arrived. Totally changed my attitude for the day. You gotta experience Butter Me Up for great food and an awesome experience.

Yelp
My wife and I came here with our 1 yr old and had a great experience. Fun and delicious menu, VERY good coffee. I read a lot of the 1 star reviews and it seems like they struggle with big groups and/or when it's busy, and it does seem like they should change their tables to be bigger / able to seat more than 2.

Yelp
A great breakfast spot that offers healthy options and alcohol. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing and the fruit, kale and avocado bowl hit the healthy spot. Service was polite, fast and offered great options. The vibe is very laid back and comfortable.

Yelp
One thing I can say about this place is that it's a total vibe. I needed a sweet healthy pick me up and I was served with the cutest açaí bowl by an amazing server. The fruit was fresh and service super fast and excellent. Definitely coming back to try the other superfood they offer !

Yelp
Had an exceptional breakfast at Butter Me Up. A quiet and lovely setting for a delicious meal. This place is really cute too. All around a great time!
