A Delicious Local Gem for Hawaiian Cravings I was seriously craving Hawaiian food and was stoked to find this little spot nearby. I started with the musubi and shumai—both hit the spot, but the musubi especially stood out. It was a generous portion and packed with flavor. For my main, I went with a mixed plate of tonkatsu chicken and kalua pork. The pork was tender and flavorful, and while the chicken was a bit overcooked, it still had a nice crunch. The pineapple garnish was a great touch and added a bit of brightness to the plate. What really impressed me is that everything is handmade with care, and they’re committed to using biodegradable containers whenever possible. You can really feel the love they put into the food and their values. From humble food truck beginnings to a full brick-and-mortar, this place is absolutely worth checking out. Come support local, eat well, and go green! 🌎

Update>>> I forgot to elevate the Ube crinkle cookies. Buzz’s should ship those cookies nationwide like they do with Dad’s cookies. They are a delicious grain-free snack for those searching desperately for a grain free sweet! Original review- I ordered a grain free poke bowl (octopus) and a side of ahi with fries and an açaí bowl. The fries were descent. The açaí was okay, although the portion felt gargantuan and came in a container that opened too easily. The octopus was very chewy. Take from that what you will. The ahi was a bit salty. This was a bit disappointing.

This was our first time here. We ordered 2 acai bowls. Took 35 minutes to get them. They were really rude when we asked them about the status of our order. Didn’t bring spoons or napkins or anything. Acai was food but fruits were frozen and not fresh. Won’t return here! I don’t recommend.

The food was so good that we came back the next day for round two! The owner was so nice and gave us a great recommendation—adding kalua pig to the loco moco. We’d never thought to do that before, but now we’ll never order it any other way! Everything was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. The service was just as great, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for amazing food and great hospitality, this is the place to go!

Google
Fantastic food. Very well smoked kalua pork. Sauces are great. Mac salad is very good. Desserts are out of this world.

Google
Never had Hawaiian before this. I really enjoyed the teriyaki chicken! The whole combo of rice, chicken, mac salad and pineapple was beyond what I was expecting! Definitely will be back when im in the area

Google
Authentic Hawaiian food! Lots of different options to choose from and the poke is fresh! Amazing service and great customer service. Highly recommend checking this place out!!

We chose Buzz’s Hawaiian Grill catering for our son’s birthday party and it exceeded our expectations! The food was absolutely delicious and had great flavor. I also appreciated Buzz’s help with planning. He was very kind, responsive, and organized. He made everything very simple! Look forward to our next opportunity to eat this food again!!

Yelp
This is true Hawaiian food served up with love by Hawaiians! I love everything about Buzz's, and I'm so glad it's in STL and right next to my favorite bar. Buzz's has counter service and their own dining space, plus they're connected inside to the Tick Tock Tavern--you can order your food, take your little order number sign next door, and have your delectable dishes brought right to you! I like Buzz's Poke Bowl alongside a TTT Gin Rickey, but Buzz's serves plenty of non-alcoholic drinks, including tropical juices and such, if that's more your thing. The menu's rather long, but feel free to ask questions; I do that often & the staff is always gracious and patient. There's a noodle soup, teriyaki chicken, Spam musubi, and so much more I could recommend... and don't be put off by "macaroni salad" on the menu. This isn't the same stuff your auntie may have made for the church picnic, swimming in Miracle Whip... it's somehow well-dressed but still crisp and not too heavy. I haven't had a bad meal from Buzz's, and I've probably been there at least 20 times--dining in, carrying out, and eating next door. Love what they're doing!

Yelp
Enjoyed a tasty lunch with short ribs, kalua pork, rice & mac salad with both pineapple & strawberry dole whip for dessert! Great dog-friendly patio. They were extremely busy, but everyone was very nice! After our trip to Hawaii just a couple months ago, we could tell the food was so authentic & delicious, a perfect taste of the islands.

Yelp
A friend and I went and enjoyed their patio, which they share with the bar next door. I tried the Musubi, Manapua, and a small side of kimchi--very highly recommend the Manapua! I didn't care for their kimchi. The interior is very casual and cute, and the service was top-notch. It's nice that there is a bar next door as well, so you can grab an alcoholic beverage and enjoy it on the shared patio while you eat as well.

Yelp
My family was visiting relatives in St. Louis a week ago and we stayed around the corner from Buzz and the tavern. (They are connected through a hallway.) You can order takeout or order your dishes and eat in the restaurant or the tavern. They seem pretty casual about it. The food was excellent (not a lot of veggies overall, but there are vegetarian options). The service in both establishments was friendly and casual (as one would expect in the Midwest!). I got a blue Hawaiian cocktail to go with my dinner. It was delish. I highly recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Aloooohhaaa! As someone who was an island resident for a year, I feel qualified for this review. I loved the food! The kalbi rib was tender and had so much meat on it. The teri steak was incredibly flavorful. The chicken katsu could have been crispier but having it for take out could have impacted that. The lilikoi bar tasted like it straight from the island! This is a must get! Do yourself a favor and try some food from here

Yelp
The kuala pig and spicy shrimp were absolutely delicious, and the musubi was solid. I was a little underwhelmed by the poke -- maybe I had high expectations, but it turned out just okay. I was also looking forward to the pepper water, hoping it would add a tangy, spicy vinaigrette-like kick, but it tasted more like mildly spiced water with hardly any vinegar. Overall, it's a decent spot when you're craving Hawaiian food.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in St. Louis, I always have a craving for Hawaiian food. Typically I go to Hawaiian Bros, but they're so far away I decided to look for an alternative option. I settled on Buzz's Hawaiian Grill. Inside is cute, your typical Hawaiian decor. The staff was ok, the food came out relatively quick. The Loco Moco was good, although I prefer less sticky rice. The beef skewer was perfect, the chicken one was too burnt. I might try them again the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I used to live in Hawaii and miss some of the food they had there. So when I heard about Buzz's, I had to check it out. It's a small restaurant a little off Grand with maybe 7 tables. It's decorated with a Hawaiian theme, which was fun. As for the food, they had all my Hawaiian favorites. You place your order at the counter then when it's ready they bring it to you. I had the Kalua pork plate, which came with rice and macaroni salad. I really enjoyed the food. They also had some juices and things from Hawaii, which I also enjoyed. My favorite is the guava nectar, but anything with guava or lilikoi (passion fruit) is good. They also have a variety of sauces to put on your food. Most of them are Hawaiian and all the ones I tried were great. I definitely want to go back and try the garlic shrimp.

Yelp
The first time that I had Buzz was in April. I went to Hawaii for the first time at the end of June. Then I went back to Buzzs on Saturday, needless to say, I love and miss Hawaii, and this food at Buzz's is amazing each and every time. I love getting the Kalua Pig plate! I hope my photos speak volumes!

Yelp
Today I had the Lumpia Spring Rolls (veg) & the Katsu Chicken Plate. Both were simply amazing. The taste and value for the meal were both perfect. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I'm ALWAYS observing how the staff handle my food whenever eating out. The staff seemed very mindful of cleanliness which made me feel good about my visit. The young lady at the register suggested the Katsu Chicken Plate and she was absolutely right. My Spring Rolls were a good start - really good and the suggested Katsu Chicken Plate was a very good choice. The MAC salad...Wow - so awesome (I just wish I had placed an extra order as a separate side). The rice was seasoned with good flavor. The chicken was crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside with great flavor. The pineapple wedge topped the meal off. This will now be high on my list of eateries for future visits to St L. Before my travels back to IL tomorrow, I plan to make a second visit!

Yelp
Tasty hawaiian food which is hard to find in St. Louis! Their ahi poke is awesome and I love the selection of sauces but the small portion is very small (not enough for a whole meal, good for a snack). My partner got the chicken katsu meal which was flavorful and plenty of food. The mac salad was good but a bit heavy on the mayo. They have a small patio in front which is nice to sit at. Their dessert options were tempting but we didn't try anything, next time!!
google avatar

Audrey B.

Yelp
Got veggie musubi and it was delicious! I love that their menu is so extensive and has vegetarian options. They really cover all the staple/famous foods of Hawaii. Nothing is as good as it is in Hawaii, but Buzz's is pretty close. The food was done in reasonable time and it's cool how you can eat your food in the Tik Tock Tavern as well.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I went to Buzz's with a friend for "Hawaii Day" on August 8th (808 is the area code). They were serving up $1 Spam Musubi (usually $3) with a 10 limit. We each got ten for packing away for later and also ordered lumpia ($3), dumplings ($3), juices, and ube cookies ($3) to snack on while we waited. Soooo glad we came early because we ordered at 4:50 and only got the Spam Musubi at 6:05! Totally understandable with the massive lines of orders and it seemed like everyone ordered the limit of 10. They are large portions of spam Musubi and more than worth the regular $3. The quality of the food is so good and we could not believe the prices. I found some old photos of menus and the prices haven't changed in at least two years! Crazy! We will absolutely be back. What a hidden gem!

Yelp
Gosh the food here is SOOO GOOOD!! Everything I ate was delicious!! For starters lumpia and shumai. My main meal was the teri fries and teriyaki steak sandwich. Highly recommend getting one of the AlohaMaid juices for the full experience. (Pass-O-Guava nectar is my favorite) The lumpia was crispy and flavorful, using the sweet chili sauce. Seriously, the fries were some of the best I've ever had! The steak sandwich was tender with the softest bun ever. My friends highly enjoyed their chicken and steak plates as well. Honestly anything from here is probably great. Also try all the sauces, super tasty additions. Order at the counter or online. Seating is offered inside and outside.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Service was great and ambiance was excellent. Wish I could type more but I'm left speechless and too full... lbvs

Yelp
My daughter saw this place on Instagram and I brought her here to try the food. This review is late as we were here a couple of months ago. Overall, the food was very tasty. The three stars is due to the fact that it took forever to get our food And they had gotten our order wrong. My order was corrected, but when they brought out the new order, the serving size was significantly smaller. That was a bit disappointing. But as a whole, the quality of food was good.
google avatar

Yelp
You can bring your food to the bar next door and watch a game. I will def be back. Good vibe, great neighborhood and pretty sure everyone knew their names ha. Close to cwe.. dole whip was outstanding! Nice to eat something different fir a change. I'll def be back!

Sam C.

Yelp
Food was okay. Lumping and sauce were good, as was the Mac salad although a bit too mayoie. Chicken katsu was over-cooked breast, teriyaki steak was decent but the rice was on the verge of gummy. Just did ot taste fresh. I'll go back for the sides/appetizers.

Luke M.

Yelp
Their food is so good! I always get a main order with some kind of musubi. They also have tofu substitution, and it's really good! I stand by the tofu katsu.
google avatar

Haley S.

Yelp
We stopped by Buzz's on the way to work one evening to enjoy a sit down dinner. When we arrived there was no line and we had our choice of seating in the dining room. We both order chicken katsu plates I can never turn down a good katsu. The wait was really long for just two items and no one else there but we were super happy when our food arrived. The katsu was perfectly crispy with a delicious sauce. I also love their island Mac salad. I've didn't have dessert this time but it's important to know they have dole whip if you're a fan!

Preston H.

Yelp
Reminds me of a spot I used to visit all the time in Hawaii. The steak plate comes with tender steak, fresh rice, tasty island-style mac salad, and a slice of pineapple. Just a heads-up: the prices listed on Yelp are outdated. I expected to pay $10.50 for the plate, but it ended up being a little over $14. For what you get, it's a bit overpriced in my opinion -- but I'll definitely be back when I'm craving Hawaiian food.

Yelp
My favorite food spot I've tried so far this year! Buzz's was SO GOOD. There are so many menu options and they all sound delicious. We went with a group of friends and tried a variety of menu items and loved everything. Even the aesthetics of each plate was good. You order at the front and they bring your food out to you. There's also a sauce station and a bunch of desserts, small dishes, and jams displayed at the front. The owner let us know that you can bring in pictures of your trip to Hawaii and hang it on the wall. There's a back patio area with some chairs, tables, and fire pits. The front has some benches that are shared between the restaurant and the bar next door. They're also conjoined inside as well. Parking is street parking. It's located at a pretty quiet corner of Magnolia. Will definitely be back for more food!!

Maegan R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Buzz's Hawaiian Grill! They have friendly staff and great service along indoor and cozy outdoor seating. You can order your food at Buzz's and have your food delivered at the Tick Tock tavern next door while you enjoy a beverage. I highly recommend the spam Musubi along with the Surf Plate because you can try three different proteins in one entree. We tried the Katsu Tofu, Chicken Yakitori, and Teriyaki Steak on our Surf Plate. The Chicken Yakitori was delicious and flavorful. There's a "sauce bar" inside where you can select additional sauces to enhance your meal. We also tried the California Roll Poke bowl which was fresh, packed with flavor and the perfect portion of food. I highly recommend Buzz's and can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
Randomly search Yelp and found this place to eat today. My boyfriend and I went here around noon. There are patio seatings in front of the place and in the back. There are also some seats available inside, plenty of seats to pick from. We brought our dog with us so we picked the patio seats in front of the restaurant. Our dog, Chloe even got a dog treat from someone I assume is the restaurant manager/owner. It was very tasty since Chloe ate the treat all in two bites. Food wise we got the poke bowl, Kalbi Rib Plate and two Manapua. The food taste great. Love the pineapple slice decoration to the entrees.

Yelp
This place has a very unique menu. It is a very casual place. Food was ready quickly.

Yelp
OH MY GOD. Full disclosure: my grandparents live in Hawaii and I've been eating Hawaiian food my whole life. It's in my top two types of food. The mesh of multiple cultures into one is so dreamy. It was the one type of food that I longed for when I moved to STL so I was SO HAPPY to see a spot open up, and so close to my house! The spot is super cute, so close to tower grove with plenty of street parking, but it is kinda tucked away. They have a front patio AND a back patio, so we will definitely be back to check it out in the spring. They are connected to a bar which is perfect if you want to grab a drink with your meal. Now, the food. My complaint is I WANTED TO TRY IT ALL. Another reason I'll be back! We ended up with the dumplings and the lumpia - both so good but if I had to pick, the crispy lumpia was to die for. I got the teriyaki steak for dinner and the preparation of the steak is JUST like Hawaii, they nailed it. The mac salad was also spot on. I was literally drooling the whole meal. My fiancé got a poke bowl, Hawaiian style, and he loved it. Said it was super flavorful. They have all house made sauces, there wasn't one we had that we didn't like, and all those unique Hawaiian flavors you don't find very often. This place is the bomb. I highly recommend, it's going to be a standard in our house now. You have to try it!!
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
Highly recommend Buzz's!! I was transported right back to the North Shore with the Pupu platter and the pork bowl! We received excellent service as soon as we stepped in the door and loved all the Hawaiian decorations, great ambiance! If you are looking for a great place to pick up some authentic Hawaiian food go here!!
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
I went to Buzz's for National Musubi Day, where musubi was just $1 each, and the wait was well worth it! I overheard them saying they made 200+ musubis, and I'd believe it if it was even more--it was that popular. I order my musubi without egg, but either way, it's delicious. We also got the Kalbi rib plate and garlic shrimp, both of which were fantastic. I come here pretty often, especially for the authentic Hawaiian food, and I always enjoy a POG (passion orange guava) drink to complete the experience. Buzz's is definitely a go-to spot for a taste of Hawaii!
google avatar

Vivienne G.

Yelp
I lived in Hawaii for over 12 years and I LOVE Hawaiian food! Buzz's has Real Hawaiian plate lunch, Musubi, Manapua and Mac salad like it's made in Hawaii. My daughter in law and grandson live in St Louis now, and I can't believe it's the first "Hawaiian"restaurant I've been to out of our 50th State that is authentic. Nothing close to real Hawaiian in NY. ( Las Vegas has a few good places) Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Natalya R.

Yelp
My first meal in STL was from this place. I ordered the loco moco and the chicken katsu plate. Both are delicious. The meat portions for both meals were smaller than I'm used to, but that was okay. I enjoyed my food! The restaurant is connected to the tavern next door, so that's a plus if you're at the tavern and need food. You can easily walk next door, and they also deliver your food to your table.
google avatar

Jami R.

Yelp
Wow, absolutely amazing food for a casual joint. Staff is welcoming and helpful. We tried the Pupu Platter to get a full taste of Hawaii. It was enough to fill two people as a meal and every item was delicious. The teriyaki beef sticks were generous with a sweet, slightly sticky sauce. The poke bombs were in a pleasant, not cold but not hot, pillowy encasement. A must try! Lumpia were another must try, not your average "fried appetizer". The chicken yakitori and shrimp on our mixed plate were by far our favorite, we could have gone without pork as it was your average smoked pork. Each item was beautiful presented in a casual way that went perfectly with the restaurants vibe. Wish we had room for dessert!

Yelp
Hawaiian Food in St. Louis!? Yes please! For a taste of aloha, you can find the newly opened Buzz's Hawaiian Grill in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. They are right next to Tick Tock Tavern in the old Steve's Hot Dogs location on Magnolia. We visited last night after a trip to MO Botanical Garden. Located in a residential neighborhood, there is street parking only. The menu is huge and everything sounds delicious. It was impossible to decide, so I ordered everything! Not really, but I did order the pupu platter which came with every appetizer on the menu: Lumpia Spring Rools, Pork Shumai, Spam Musubi, Manapua Pork Bao, and a Poke Bomb. I got 2 of each thing for the pupu platter so it's great for sharing. We also ordered a small poke bowl. There is a condiment bar loaded with sauces, forks, chopsticks, self-serve water, and napkins. The sauces are where it's at! My favorites were the Kilauea Spicy Mayo and the Lilikoi BBQ Sauce.

Erica K.

Yelp
I've had Buzz's 3-4 times now and I am always happy with what I get and make sure to try something different each time! Today I tried two different poke's, ahi and octopus, and they were fantastic. I got the teriyaki chicken with pineapple rice and added some garlic shrimp and everything on this plate was perfect. The chicken was charred to perfection and the sauce was sweet, savory and delicious! I was able to have a delightful conversation with Buzz himself while I was there too! He has a wonderful business and I encourage everyone to give this place a try! Great food, made with care by someone who is passionate about the Hawaiian Culture. What could be better?! Support local!
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
You want to try this place!! I had to try this as it was recommended by my sister and her husband who have lived in Hawaii years ago. The food is authentic and delicious. I stopped in on a Friday evening and got the kahuna plate with teriyaki steak, Kalua pig, rice, Mac salad, and a lilikoi bar - loved it all! make this a spot you try soon!
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
Right next to tick rock tavern. So you can hangout and have a drink and order food which is convenient. Delivery is easy you can scan a barcode and it gets brought to you. Or go straight into the store to order if you are just stopping in! The food was good but for me personally, bland. Needed some spice or flare for me. Would be nice if they offered this as an option in the future.

Yelp
We visited Buzz's on Saturday when they opened at 4pm. I had seen a post earlier on Facebook and was very excited to learn of Hawaiian food in St. Louis. This is one food I miss since moving from California a few years ago. Finally, I would get my spam musubi anytime! It is in a residential neighborhood so there is plenty of street parking. When we arrived, staff was opening the door to let patrons in. Two staff were there and hustling. Someone had not shown up for work so they were short staffed and doing the best they could. I was happy to see everyone patient and understanding as she worked to take orders, fix food and deliver it to tables. There is a condiment bar with various sauces, chopsticks, utensils and napkins. I saw a place for water but there was none during this time (likely due to staffing/time). I had the Kahlua Pig. It was served with bits of cabbage on a few scoops of rice with macaroni salad. The portion was very generous. I would definitely order this again. It was lighter on the smoke flavor that I'm used to but still flavorful and tender. Even my picky daughter ate it! My husband got the Korean Kalbi Ribs. He said they were tender and flavorful. There was nothing left in his bowl but bones! There is an assortment of Hawaiian beverages as well as mainstream soft drinks. There are also sides to purchase to go.

Yelp
I miss Hawaii everyday, so anytime I can find a little reminder here in the Midwest, it brings a little more "aloha" into my heart. Buzz's is the place for that. I used to follow their food truck around town whenever I was somewhat close, but now they have a permanent location I can visit whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Yes, I have to go about half an hour out of the way to get there, but it's worth it for the Loco Moco, Kahlua pork, mac salad, haupia pie, banana pancakes & coconut syrup (Sunday morning breakfast after church) - I can only eat so much per visit! The owner is very friendly and really puts his heart into this local business. Can't recommend them enough! Now if only they'd open a location in St. Charles... *hint* *hint*
google avatar

Sebastian O.

Yelp
Always have loved the aesthetic and the food from here, the dole whip is delicious and such a great snack for a hot summer day. I'd recommend getting the kalbi ribs as they are my personal favorite but really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, highly recommend as they also are quick to serve

Bianca F.

Yelp
Buzz's is a really wonderful place to go on a Saturday evening. We went there and got poke bowls and katsu sandwiches. The sauces are delectable and the employees are so friendly. The cashier with the piercings was very understanding and took our order perfectly. Yummy food, great service. Also, a plus is that Tick Tock Tavern is right next door
google avatar

Daryl S.

Yelp
The mac salad is AMAZING. It honestly tasted better here than in Hawaii. The teribeef is DELICIOUS. The terifries were REALLY good the first time, but a bit disappointing the second time (kind of taste like bad oil). All in all - this place hits the spot. We've also had the garlic shrimp, teriyaki plate, and the spring roll. The only thing I wouldn't order again would be the spring roll because it didn't really have a lot of flavor. We haven't been back since they added more items, like the poke, and we will definitely return to try it out!
google avatar

Elaine S.

Yelp
I loved my first visit here! Everything that we ordered really did taste like we were in Hawaii. The garlic shrimp was chef's kiss spot on - I got about 6 large pieces on shrimp swimming in garlic butter sauce on top of rice with a side of mac salad and a pineapple slice. The shrimp were all a good consistent size and the garlic butter was fantastic. We also got the Kalua pork and pork katsu combo plate and it was absolutely delicious. The Kalua pork here honestly better than some of the places we've tried in Hawaii as it had a very fragrant smoky flavor. The katsu was well-fried and flavorful. It also came with Mac salad and a slice of pineapple. Both entrees were solid and well valued. If I have to give one critical feedback, it was that the Mac salad can be seasoned a tad more, but with everything else being so delicious, this is just a tiny nitpick. Service at the counter was friendly and helpful. 100% coming back soon!

Yelp
I love the food! Nice outdoor seating area, great place to meet my daughter. Pineapple orange soda is great!
google avatar

Michele F.

Yelp
Awesome casual and attached to a bar. The food is cute and hits the spot. Love the staff.

B. J.

Yelp
Really good hawaiian food. Ive spent time in Hawaii and it taste just like what I remember. My only issues are that the wait is too long for what you order. Lot of people making food but still takes forever to get it out even when theres noone there. The owner is always super nice and a jolly guy who you want to root for. I did have an issue today with him spraying weed killer when people (including us) had our food outside. He shouldve waited until they close or before they open.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
My husband is Hawaiian and grew up there so we are very familiar with the dishes! Most things exceeded our expectations for being on the mainland. We got chicken teriyaki and kalbi- both were great and taste like what you would get on the island! Husband even said the Mac salad tastes like his grandmas. We did get the haupia pie which was the only thing that didn't live up. The filling was liquid and more like soup- consistency should be more like jello!
google avatar

Rachael B.

Yelp
We were really impressed with everything we ordered. Great value for the price. Favorites were the lumpia, the tofu katsu, and the coconut cream pie. We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Katlyn M.

Yelp
Food is always 10/10. Friendly service every time. Great outdoor seating area. Connected to cool bar for drinks after or live music. This is a go-to place for me in STL
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Great lunch place! We had the Lumpia Spring Roll for starters and they were great with spicy mayo sauce. Kalua Pig and Katsu Chicken plates were good, but better with sauces. I think next time we will try the pineapple fried rice and Ahi Poke.

Yelp
Really fun food, I love the masubi and the bao. Bonus is the patio and the connection to the TikTok bar. Very polite staff.
