Came during soft opening and loved it! So glad there's an offshoot of Antidote in Manhattan now! Started with the Spotlight cocktail, which was light and delicious, presented beautifully.
Had to get the Flatiron-exclusive century egg + burrata dish -- super creative and a good app! The chili oil underneath is very spicy, beware. I wish this came with more youtiao. I had leftovers and took this home and ate it with sourdough though, and it was still delicious.
Pork soup dumplings are good, nothing crazy. A little steep at $8 for 3. Dan dan noodles were delicious. I love salted egg yolk crab tofu, and the dish at By Antidote did not disappoint. The Slice Beef Chili Oil was a little too spicy for me, but my friend who grew up eating mala in the Xi'an area of China said it was very authentic. I liked the addition of cabbage and glass noodles.
Overall, great ambience for elevated chinese food. Nice bar, good lighting for a date night. The only thing is they have a 1.5 hour seating limit, which felt a bit rushed, especially since we got so many dishes. I guess that's what it's like when a hot new restaurant opens in Manhattan.
